Hello everyone, this is RBL, back from the grave with an update. I have seen each and every one of your reviews. I am really touched that so many of you like the relationship between Stacy and Kyoya. I do love both of the very much and I decided to give you guys a little bonus chapter to read just to cement things in the story and tie it up with how the manga ended.
This is long over-due and I hope you can all enjoy this short little chapter.
It was a quiet evening at home. The folks were on a trip in the states and had taken the dog and the little brother with them. My older sister had moved out after graduating high school to attend University in Ontario and only came home for the summer and Christmas. This left me with the whole house to myself for two weeks, which was greatly welcomed.
Reclining on the couch with my laptop, I was trying to get a new chapter up for one of my fanfics when Skype started signalling that I had a call. When answered she saw a familiar face with a head of dark hair on the screen.
"Hey Kyoya."
A groan came out from behind the hand covering his face and pushing his glass up to his forehead. 'Tired' was an understatement for he looked.
I hazard a guess. "Tamaki causing you problems?"
"More than you could possibly imagine." He grumbled in English.
"Wanna rant about him to me?"
He sighed and moved his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. Tamaki really was giving him headaches. "No, I don't have enough time to talk to you for that long."
"Alright. What did you want to talk about then?"
"You know I'll be going back to Japan after April, correct?"
I nodded. The whole Host Club was currently down in the states to study abroad. Sadly, as I was in Canada I couldn't exactly drive down to see them on the weekends. We might as well still have the whole Pacific Ocean between us. "Yeah, you need to go back once you're done with school because of your family."
"It turns out my father has already arranged a marriage for me." Kyoya stated, candid and to the point as always.
"You nervous?" I asked, trying to look and sound unsurprised. Kyoya saw through it instantly.
"You can say if you're heartbroken." He teased.
"Oh please. We broke up years ago." I answered, mouth resting against my fist as smirk pulled on my lips. "Or do you want me to be that clingy type of girl who can't understand why a relationship won't last~?" My voice was too sweet and purposely ditzy-sounding. "Please." Instantly I shifted back to my usual tone. "I know what's expected of you, and I know I can't be a counsellor in Japan, not easily at least."
I swear I heard a half-chuckle come from him, though it could have been a sound problem as well. "Thank you for understanding. At least with the woman my father has chosen I know she was be some blonde with a B average."
"You know, I would have thought that you living through a few real winters you'd have learned to avoid thin ice." I huffed and shot him a glare through the computer. "But do you think you'll like her?"
"I'm sure he's chosen someone that would be the most beneficial to the Ohtori Group. With that in mind I'm sure I can handle her regardless of personality."
"I hope you two get along and can respect each other." I made no comment of love. What Kyoya and I had back in high school was just two kids playing with a new experience. We were adults now with our own plans and roadmaps, neither of which the other could follow, so we had ended our long distance relationship after graduating high school. Kyoya needed to follow the path set for him by his father, and I had my own aspirations.
"Considering her background I'm sure that will be the case."
"Aaaand if not, I know you'll find a way to have fun with things." I teased him again, earning a lazy smile from the former-Shadow King. "Though, if you need any time away from her, I'll just a 12 hour plane ride away!"
"How about I make you fly out here instead?"
"Only if you pay for the tickets and take me to Akihabara~"
An exasperated sigh came forth. "Of all the places in Japan…"
"Just for one day. I'd like to see the rest of Japan too. I just need to find a particular shop in Akihabara before I die or it closes."
"You realize this is the reason why my father would never approve of you, right?"
"I know, but this is who I am, and I rather like who I am, so why change?"
"Indeed." It was then that a small black cat jumped up onto Kyoya's desk, looking to see what was keeping his attention for so long.
"Hi Noir~" I cooed, making the kitten look at the screen before pawing it and mewing. "Dawww~ she's so cute. I'm glad you got to keep her."
He lifted the cat from the desk to his shoulder. "Well if the landlord allowed Tamaki to bring that boisterous dog of his, I can't see why allowing me to take in Noir would be objectionable." A hand was brought up to scratch her ear.
"I hope your future wife lets you keep her."
"Yes, though I'm sure I can negotiate something if she doesn't."
"Just don't send Noir here. Our puppy will chase her till her hair goes white."
"That's right, I haven't seen 'the Conrad' yet."
"Karl's down at the summer home with my parents."
"I see, so it's just you there then."
"Yep."
"I would suggest a weekend visit, but something tells me you'd be too busy for that."
"Yeah…" I confessed sheepishly. "I hate having to take this many courses in a year."
"That's your own fault you know."
"I know. I'll just be glad when the next term starts. I only have four classes then."
"Good, you'll have more time to study then."
Great, now he was bringing up my GPA. "Yeah, I'll work on that."
"Maow." Noir called from Kyoya's shoulder.
"I need to get back to work." He sighed.
"Same. Talk to you later. Bye." I waved.
"Bye." He hung up.
Yeah, things wouldn't have worked out between us. It still hurt a little to know that, but it was childish to demand that a relationship work when it was too inconvenient for both parties. "Take care." I whispered to the black Skype window.
Okay yes, I am not afraid of the downer ending. For me though, I understand Kyoya as to be the type to follow what ever instructions his father gives him, even if it means not being with Stacy. What he and Stacy have is a short-lived romance, a bit like a sparkler. It's bright and flashy and fun for a while, but it does come to an end and it cannot be salvaged. They are headed in two different directions in life. Stacy wants to be a counselor which isn't doable in another language, and Kyoya isn't going to turn his back on everything he knows (despite how the anime chose to end things with him).
I'm sorry to say that I really do not plan to do a sequel for this story. As much as I love these guys (yes, hard to believe considering I tore them away from each other), I don't think they are meant for one another. I'm sure Kyoya will be able to respect and maybe someday even love the woman his father chose for him, and for Stacy she's still searching for someone that fits her emotional needs better. They will be great friends for a long time, they just won't be dating is all.
Thank you all for sticking with this poorly written fanfic I started back in high school, and I am very happy for all the reviews you guys have left for me. Take care everyone!
