"I'm still shocked that he went to go work for Malcolm." Laurel had chimed in after Oliver had handed her Tommy's last paycheck. The brunette's eyes never trained away from her computer screen while Josie and Oliver stood by.
"Yeah, I mean, who would want to work along side their father and learn about the family business?" Josie couldn't help by jokingly mock what Laurel had said. This, however, made the DA think she had offended her friend. Her mouth opened to apologize, but the icy blonde stopped her. "Laurel, I was kidding." Laurel sat back in her chair, sighing in relief.
"I'm sorry, it just came out. You two should just go before I say something else that I will regret." Her gaze had scanned the room, and she noticed a couple and their kid walking in. She quickly jumped to her feet, and Josie and Oliver soon followed since they were getting ready to leave anyway. As they were walking, Oliver's hand had found the small of Josie's back, and she welcomed the touch. They met up with Laurel and the family soon after. "Oliver, Jo, this is Eric Moore and his wife Nancy. I'm prepping them for a deposition for tomorrow."
Oliver was quick to include one last member of the family. His hand rose as he pointed a finger towards the kid. "And this must be your bodyguard." Josie grinned, adding on.
"You can definitely tell from his strong muscles." She chirped, causing the little boy to giggle softly as he stepped forward a little from behind his parents.
The rest soon chuckled along. "This is our son, Taylor." Nancy spoke.
"Well you are in very capable hands." Oliver reprimanded, glancing towards Laurel before letting them fall on Josie. He nodded his head towards the doors, and she bobbed her head in response. "It was nice to meet you." He concluded, before pressing the palm of his hand a little more into Josie's back, and even pulling her a little closer as he led her out the door and to her car.
They chatted lightly in the car on their way to the restaurant about Josie's trip to Central City, mainly her just telling him about her transition into the company and how the meetings went. She opted out on telling him about seeing Eddie and the huge discovery he informed her about.
When she told him of her time limit, he made sure he would be quick. They entered the restaurant and were brought to a table right away. While they ordered drinks, they also ordered their food. Josie was examining the wine menu while Oliver sat across, inspecting her. He noticed her hair was shorter than it use to be before he was on the island, and she had a small scar on the crook of her neck. Then he saw the glimmering locket rest on her chest, and he couldn't help his eyes brightening at the sight of it. "I'm guessing you like the necklace." He said out loud, and watched as her eyes flew up to his.
"What? This?" She asked, a little caught off guard. When he nodded in response, she smiled. "Yes. I mainly look at it when I have trouble remembering what he looks like." She quietly added, and Oliver's lightened expression faded. But he felt that he couldn't let this date turn into a sour time.
He took a sip of his water, before snorting a little as he remembered a memory of Colton. "Do you remember that very prestigious New Year's Eve party, and it was mainly mine and your's parent's friends. And when the party was coming to a close, Colton, Tommy and I paraded inside with three ice luges and a crowd of our friends came in, and completely took over and crashed the party?" Josie leaned back as a loud laugh erupted from her. She covered her mouth to quiet the sound. Oliver felt a twinge in his chest as she did so. He began to laugh along with her as she tried to compose herself.
She waved her hand in the air a little to control herself as she spoke. "And some of my dad's coworkers actually joined the party, and were challenging some of your friends to see who could keep taking shots on the luge." Oliver nodded, as his laughter bubbled up more. It was a sound she felt she hadn't heard in a very long time. "Wasn't that the same party that Wyatt Marshall got into a fight and was pushed through a glass window?"
"Yes. My parents were not happy about that one." Both of them were coming down from their laughing highs, as they both adjusted themselves in their seats, finding a comfortable position. Josie moved to place her napkin on her lap, and when her green eyes shifted back up, she found Oliver observing her with a quaint smile on his face. She couldn't get over how he looked at her. She never really thought much about it when guys she dated before looked at her like that, but when Oliver did, she became too aware. He made her feel like she was the only thing that matter to him, and as much as she loved it, she was a little curious as to why he observed her like that now and not five years ago. She wonder at that moment how badly the island took a toll on him that made him begin to see Josie in a new light.
She leaned forward, folding her hands on the table. Oliver mimicked her movement, leaning closer to her. "Okay, I have a question." She posed for him, and he quirked a blonde eyebrow, nodding for her to go on. "When you were first asking me to go on this date back at the club, you said 'I don't want to be on a island anymore'. What do you mean by that?" Oliver licked his lips as he pulled away from his close distance to her. He raked a hand through his short hair, which looked longer now than it did when she left for Central City.
It took him a moment to respond, and that made Josie notice that this was a sensitive subject for him. She tried putting herself in his place, and realized that if he asked her something like that, it would take her time to gather her thoughts and choose her words carefully. Just like how she wasn't ready to say everything about Colton's death because she was afraid to relive the moment, she was sure that Oliver didn't want to say much about the island incase he might trigger something.
But he finally figured out what he was going to say the moment his blue-green eyes locked onto hers. "I realized after these past several months that I never really was rescued from the island. My mind still goes back there when I'm not thinking about anything. That in the end I'm still finding myself back at that purgatory place." Then his eyes softened, as a hand moved across the table and laid atop of her's. He closed his fingers around Josie's, giving them a little squeeze. The blonde's gaze drifted from their hands back up to his face, tilting her head a little as she gave him a sheepish smile. "But every time I'm with you, or I think about you, I start to see that you pull me away from that hell. You help me stop being on that island."
And for some reason, after those words left his mouth, Josie felt entirely insecure. Oliver had so many people back here that would have the same affect to him, maybe even a better one than her. She began to think that maybe Oliver was just saying this to make her feel important, and that he probably said the same thing to McKenna when they were still together, and possibly Laurel and Tommy. To her, she started to believe that this was his way of 'rekindling the flame' and making her feel special to him, just like he did for Sara all those years ago.
So she shook her head, disbelief written across her face. "That's not true." She quickly replied in a slightly frustrated tone.
Oliver's expression transition from that of brightness to confusion and then ending with hollow sadness as he watched her mull over her thoughts before she spoke. His eyes squinted as he gazed upon her. "Jo, I'm being completely honest." He tried to insinuate to her, but she wasn't accepting it still.
"You've probably said the same thing to McKenna and Laurel too." She shot back at him.
Oliver lurched forward, taking both of her hands in his to force her to look at him. If this was any other person, he would have just given up on trying to convince them, but it was Josie. His Josie, who would fight him tooth and nail to prove she is right, but the moment he gets her to calm down and look him in the eye, she'll understand that she was wrong and accept it. She always did for him.
When her green eyes flickered to his, she saw the conviction he was showing through all of his body. It was the most emotion she had probably seen from him since she had returned home from school. He was doing everything in his power to prove to her that he was not lying. "Josie, you were the only person I could really think about on the island because you were the only one who's face and voice I could remember in detail. And the moment I heard you were back in Starling, I immediately had to go see you, even if it were for just a minute." She broke through her guard, as her fingers laced themselves through his, a small smile returning to her lips. "You've been my rock the whole time." Oliver finally finished, as he leaned in so close there was not much space between the two.
Josie ducked her head, bobbing her head. "You were the same way for me when Colton died. I could only remember what you looked and sounded like, not him. That whenever I tried to think of Colt, I was thinking about you." Slowly, she lifted her head back as she bored her eyes into his, attempting to see right through him, but she was lost in his blue eyes. In a quiet tone, she began to apologize. "I'm sorry for not believing you. I-I…I just…" She trailed, not knowing how to finish her sentence as her green eyes dropped once more.
A finger was placed under her chin, and her gaze was brought back up to Oliver's face. His thumb laid against her chin, as he instinctively rubbed it. Then, ever so painfully slowly, he began to lean in closer to her. Josie watched him moving in, as she let her eyes fall shut, awaiting for him to close the gap between the two of them.
Then there was a clanking sound from beside them followed by a surprised sound, causing the two to jump away from each other as they faced the newcomer. Their waitress was standing there uncomfortably as she held on tightly to their food. "Sorry for interrupting." She quipped out, before placing their food down in front of them before shuffling away.
When Oliver looked back to Josie, he saw she was nervously adjusting in her seat, picking at her food already, not bothering to return his gaze. He took that as a clear sign that she wasn't as certain about her feelings for him as he was for her.
They finished off the rest of their lunch in an awkward atmosphere, and when they were returning to Wayland Trades, neither one spoke the entire time.
Josie threw the car in park, as the two sat in the parking garage in eminent silence. Oliver was waiting for her to say something, because he felt as though there was no reason for him to say anything about before. When she still remained silent, he moved to get out of the car.
"I mess everything up between us, don't I?" It sounded more of her just speaking out her thoughts than her really asking him the question, but Oliver felt obligated to respond. When he twisted back to face her, he found Josie watching him with lost eyes. They were almost scared.
Oliver fell back into his seat, facing her. "No." He replied with a sincere tone.
Josie's lips formed a tight line as her eyes trained out to the window before down to her lap. "Then why is it that every time we have been together, we always end up leaving on rocky terms?" He was certain he could almost hear her pleading for him to find the answer.
It took him a moment to think about it. What exactly could he say to her that would make up not only for this time, but all other times they've been together. She was right. The last several months they've been around each other they've been weird and on edge. The only thing that kept popping back into his mind was what he had said months back when Josie was seeking his help. 'Find time to rekindle each flame with each friend. Soon things will go back to how they use to be. Or maybe form a new relationship.' And with that, it hit him.
He reached forward, placing a comforting hand on her knee, prompting Josie to observe him once more. "It's because we're trying to form the kind of relationship we use to have, but we've both changed so much that we can't. Maybe it would be best for us to just start over; build a new relationship from the ground up." And that warm, small smile that makes her heart flutter and her stomach turn was back on his lips. To make her feel even more flustered, Oliver pulled his hand from her knee and held it up for it to be shaken. "Hi, I'm Oliver Queen."
Josie chuckled softly, her eyes shifting between his eyes to his lips, gazing upon his smile. He noticed that she was looking at his mouth a little too long, her lingering gaze making him feel more anxious to want to reach forward and kiss her like he tried to back at the diner.
To pass off the slight sexual tension, Josie reached over and pushed playfully at his shoulder. In the movement, she was even closer to him than she was at lunch. For Oliver, that was the last straw.
Before she could pull back, Oliver reached up with both hands, one catching her elbow before it could retract to her side, the other one placing on the back of her neck as he pulled her to him. His lips crashed onto her's, and it was better than either had ever imagined. All of the noise around them had just drained, even the silence they could hear was gone. It was just the two of them.
It was such a sweet, passionate kiss shared between the two. Full of warmth and tenderness they felt for each other. Oliver's nose was pressing hard into Josie's cheek, but she didn't mind at all, just like he didn't mind that her lip gloss was rubbing off onto his lips.
When Josie's hands found Oliver's cheeks, a warm, tingling feeling ran down his spine. He shuttered a little at the feeling, as his hands gripped a little tighter on her, causing Josie to giggle softly against his lips. Oliver couldn't contain a smile as they both stopped for a moment to catch their breath.
Their foreheads were pressed together, their lips resting against each other, and their breaths warming their faces. Josie bit her lips as she opened her eyes to see the most lively expression on his face that he's had in ages. His eyes were still close, and he wore a ghost of a smile on his lips.
"I'm not sure that's what you do to someone you've supposedly just met." She lowly joked to him. Oliver laughed breathlessly as he finally opened his eyes to look at her.
"I couldn't help it, we just had this instant connection." He responded happily.
Josie shook her head softly, her blonde hair shifting back and forth. "Oh shut up." She returned, before closing the gap once more between their lips.
Josie was for sure late to work after that, but she didn't mind.
…
The once light sprinkle of rain was beginning to pour down hard outside of Colton's apartment as Josie sat in her appointed room, sitting up against the headboard with her laptop sitting comfortably in her lap. She was clicking through an album of pictures of her and her recently, that day actually, turned ex-boyfriend Aaron. Every few minutes she would reach up to wipe away a stream of tears just for a new stream to form right afterwards.
She was actually caught off guard with this break-up compared to others. Just out of the blue Aaron Burgess decided to end their near two-year relationship. To her they seemed completely fine, but he must have had a different view point on that.
After repeating the album the third time, she decided she had enough. She clamped her laptop shut and tossed it towards the end of the bed in frustration. All she wanted was to get a big jug of ice cream and sit in the living room watching old sitcoms while she cried herself into exhaustion. The normal, angst teenage girl routine after a break-up. But she had no way of getting ice cream because Colton took the car, leaving her all alone.
She leaned her head back on the headboard as she groaned out in an abundance of emotions. There was so much she wanted to do or say, but couldn't find the energy or will to do it. Instead she just sat lamely on her bed, letting herself get lost in her thoughts and memories about her ex.
Well, only for a short period of time before she heard a rhythmic sound of knocks on the apartment door before she could hear it begin to be unlocked. She tensed up on her bed, knowing that it wasn't Colton because he wouldn't knock like that. Josie let one leg slip from underneath her, as she slipped it off the side of the bed and place the ball of her foot on the floor, getting ready to rush towards the fire escape incase of it being an intruder.
But the moment she heard someone call out "What's up, Waylands?" she knew exactly who it was. Drunk Oliver Queen. His footing sounded a little off, so she knew he was stumbling.
At the moment, though, she didn't want to deal with him. She didn't really want to deal with anyone, so she sat still on her bed, hoping that if no one responded that he would just leave.
But drunk Oliver was different from sober Oliver. He had no boundaries. So Josie knew that even though she was being as quiet as possible, Oliver would eventually find her. She could hear him opening doors, making little remarks and strings of mumbled words as he checked the bedrooms and bathrooms. Her heart pounded a little harder when she knew that her room was the next one to be checked. It was like playing hide and seek, and she was just about to be found.
Her bedroom door slowly began to open, and Oliver peeked his head into her dark bedroom. His eyes raked across the area, falling onto her bed for a moment before moving on to the other side. He must not have seen her, even though she was perched right in the middle of her bed. She noticed he was beginning to leave the bedroom, and she couldn't take it anymore. "Ollie." She called to him, and she immediately started to laugh harder than she had in a while.
Oliver Queen leaped practically five feet into the air the moment he heard his name being said in such a quiet place. He pushed past the door, before leaning against her wall and clutching his chest. Josie continued to laugh as she rolled onto her stomach, pushing her face into her pillow. Then, out of no where, a crushing weight was settled on her back. Pulled her face back, she saw the lights had been turned on in her bedroom, and Oliver was laying on top of her.
"Get off, you big log." She groaned out, as she reached back and attempted to slap his back, but must have gone too low and instead smacked his bottom. Oliver chuckled as he rolled off of her, laying on his side as he face the younger blonde.
"I didn't know you liked to be so rough." He said, quirking a brow. "It's kind of hot." Josie only rolled her eyes in response, knowing that Oliver would be watching her. She didn't have to look at him to know that he was realizing she had been crying. He placed a hand on her shoulder, shaking it a little. "You've been crying." He blatantly stated.
Josie pinched her eyes shut, rubbing at them. She then reached up, raking a hand through her light blonde hair as she turned to her side, now facing him. "Thank you, Captain Obvious." Oliver frowned at her with a scowl on his face, hating the sarcasm he was receiving. Josie sighed, rolling her lips in, knowing there needed to be an explanation. "I'm sorry." He soon let his face softened when he noted that she was about to let a new set of tears out. "Aaron broke up with me today. I-I didn't expect it at all. We never had anything bad going on in our relationship. We were actually doing really well." The tears began to silently fall from her eyes, as they raced down her cheeks. It was quiet between the two of them, as they both watched each other.
Soon, her quiet crying had turned into low whimpers as she let herself think too hard on the subject. Finally, she looked up to Oliver with sorrow filled eyes. "Am I a crappy person? Do people just get tired of me after a while?" His face scrunched up with disbelief at the questions she was asking. How could she have ever come to that conclusion?
"No. You are not and you never will be." He held his arms out, and Josie reluctantly crawled into them as she pressed her face into his chest. Her hands clutched onto his long sleeved shirt as she tucked her head under his chin. "You are so talented, and adventurous and funny. If anything I thought you would get bored of others because they wouldn't keep up with you." He glanced down at her, reaching up to her face to tuck some hair behind her ear. "You're a treasure, Jo."
She pulled her head back so she could look back up at him. If this were any other time, she would believe exactly what he was saying to her, but after being completely blindsided and dumped to the side as if she were trash, she felt she had lost trust in guys in general. "I know you're saying that just to make me feel better, Ollie. Thanks for trying." She lamely said as she backed out of his embrace and sat up on the other side of the bed from him.
Oliver followed suit, his expression of disbelief worsening. "I mean it, Josie. Any real man in the world would see how valuable you are, and know he would not want to let go of you. You're everything. You're smart, beautiful, funny, outgoing." He said with all the conviction he could muster.
Josie rolled her green eyes at him once more as she looked away from him. She wanted to cave and just let him tell her that all of this was supposedly true, but she decided to be stubborn and fight it more. "You sound like a shitty, vague horoscope."
Oliver inaudibly groaned as he leaned against the headboard. He wanted to just say 'screw it' and get up and leave, but it was Josie, he wouldn't bring himself to do that to her. He cared way to much about her, and what she thought about him. He wanted to be the friend that was always going to be there for her when no one else could.
"Fine. Then I guess I'll have to be more specific." He said in a slur, horribly clipping the last word. "You are extremely smart in both book and street smarts. If it weren't for you, I would never understand how to go out on my own in the city because you know how to navigate, understand how people on the outside world work. You're actually kind of conniving about some things, which I actually think is quite a turn on." Josie furrowed her blonde brows at him, and Oliver held his hands up in surrender. "Sorry. But also you're beautiful inside and outside. You are such an honest, hot-headed and stubborn person, but you're also the kind of person who doesn't give up on people and what they stand for. You make everyone around you feel like they matter. And you are the kind of person who wants to go out and do things. You have ambiguitions-"
"Ambitions." She said with a small smirk on her pink lips. Oliver sloppily pointed at her.
"Yeah, that. You have those that no one else could even dream of having. I mean you have a billion dollars to your name, and you want to be a teacher living on a low salary. You have what people would kill to have, and you would give it up if it means giving an education to the next generation. You want to put yourself out there and do things." Oliver took her hand in his, squeezing it hard. "That's what makes you needed."
Josie turned to look at him. Even though his eyes were red and half-lidded they were still as bright and turquoise as ever. His longer, dirty blonde hair was tossed about around his clean, shaven face. He was only twenty one, but he looked like he was in his late twenties. "I'm sorry. I was wrong. I actually really needed that." She admitted to him, and Oliver let a dopey smile spread on his lips.
"Good. Now come back here, it's freezing and you're warm." He demanded playfully, holding his arms out for her to go back into. Josie scooted over, enveloping herself into his embrace, loving every second of it.
Somewhere in the back of her mind, she kind of wished she had Oliver to be that lucky guy because he already knew her like the back of his hand. But he had Laurel, and she didn't seem like she would be letting him go anytime soon.
All she could do was let their friendship remain.
…
Josie was getting ready in the morning to go to work. She played the television on in the background while getting breakfast made. The news anchors were going over upcoming events that were not at all important to her. She was crossing the living room towards the front door to get a pair of high heels she had left there from the other day. Her eyes fell onto the screen as she moved, seeing a picture of the Moore family pop up. Josie reached over the couch, grabbing the remote to turn the volume up. "The bodies of Eric and Nancy Moore were found early this morning. The couple was being represented by attorney Laurel Lance of CNRI in a lawsuit against financier Edward Rasmus. Miraculously, their seven year old son Taylor survived the horrific attack."
She felt as if she was shook to the core. She had just seen this family yesterday, looking as happy and healthy as ever, and now the parents were dead and their son was an orphan. It tore her apart on the inside. Only if she had known more about what their deposition was about, if only she had known the person they were getting themselves mixed up with, if only she could have done something to help ensure their safety. She could have been there for them, and that drove her to want to keep up with her sessions with Diggle and her archery training.
It took her sometime to gain her bearings, but when she did, she could only feel anger. Josie grabbed her blazer and let her apartment with a slam to her door. No more playing around. She was ready to start taking her sessions to the streets.
Josie got through the first part of her work day in silence and hard concentration. She was filing through clients names and what occupations they were categorized under. Her fingers ached as she clicked through names and files, finally typing 'Financier' into the occupation search. A list of names came up on her screen.
At first, she was only searching for one name in particular, but soon she began to pay attention to the other names, seeing that many were actually names that have been in the news lately. Albert Davis, David Drayson, Finley French, Adam Hunt and more. They were all the people the Vigilante had targeted these past few months since he's arrived in Starling. Of course, in the R's, Josie found Edward Rasmus surrounded by Albrecht Raines and Isabel Rochev.
Josie decided to print off the list of names, leading up to about ten pages of papers. She then went through them and scratched out the names that the Hood has already taken out. Finally, she folded the papers and tucked them into her purse. For the rest of the time she went back to transferring trades and readjusting accounts until her lunch break arrived. Because she had been gone for so long yesterday, her father only allowed her half an hour. To her, that was perfectly enough time.
As she was walking out to her car, she dialed up a specific person's number. It only took two rings before Diggle picked up. "I haven't heard from you in a while, Josie, how was your trip?" There was no formal greetings, just immediate casual talk. The blonde smiled softly.
"It was interesting. But what would be more interesting was another training session." She could hear John chuckling on the other side.
"Eager to get back to work?" He asked lightly.
"I've been working at it without you, I just miss my trainer." She had gotten into her car, and was making her way towards the Glades.
"Well, at the moment I've got my hands tied with some things. But I'll let you know when I am free. For now, keep up your boxing and workouts." He informed her. She nodded along, as her eyes scanned the lesser developed part of the city.
"Alright. Hopefully everything works out for you. Bye, John." And with that she ended the call. Her whole body was aching to find someone to spar with her and maybe teach her some new moves that John might not even know.
She had arrived at her destination at CNRI. Quickly getting out of her car, she made her way to the attorney's office with long strides. Pushing through the doors, she reached into her purse to grab the papers of all the names, determined to find Laurel, but instead she found someone's hard back instead.
Ricocheting off their body, the blonde stumbled backwards a little, caught completely off balance. The person swiftly reached back and caught her wrist, stopping her from falling, but the papers had spilled from her hands. The person pulled her back to her feet, which resulted in her being a little too close to them. Her green eyes drifted up to find Tommy staring down at her in close proximity. His blue eyes moved across her face, taking in her flushed cheeks, open mouth and the little hairs falling into her eyes. As much as she didn't want it to, her stomach fluttered a little.
Her eyes shifted to her right, seeing Oliver standing right beside the two of them, giving them a questioning look. And in that moment, Josie mentally kicked the shit out of herself. The longer she was standing so close to Tommy, the more Oliver was beginning to see the wrong picture. But, to make matters worse, Laurel was standing behind Tommy, as she too had seen everything.
To ease the awkwardness that surrounded the four of them, Josie stepped a few steps back as she gave her normal, warm smile, pretending nothing entirely uncomfortable had just happened. "Sorry, didn't see that you had decided to park yourself there." She jokingly said, and Tommy's eyes narrowed with a small grin forming on his lips.
"Sorry, didn't know that you thought you could just walk right through people." He returned in the same light, playful tone. They both were grinning fools at that point, and all Oliver did was continually give them both pointed looks. They quickly wiped the smiles off their faces
Oliver then noticed the papers on the ground and reached down to pick them up. He couldn't help but give a little peek at what was on them. He saw them names on the papers, and realized that they matched to the names on his list. She had even crossed off the names that he had crossed off.
When he glanced back up, he saw Josie watching him. He moved over to be next to her as he handed her the papers. "You dropped these." He said lowly, so only she could hear. She gladly took them, rolling them up in her hands. Josie was about to turn back and face Laurel and Tommy, but she couldn't help but notice the way Oliver was longingly looking at her. She let a hint of a smile perk on her lips as she moved a little closer to him. His hand instinctively placed itself on the small of her back.
Laurel decided to redirect the entire mishap that happened before, instead putting the attention on the boy that was standing before her. "It's settled. Taylor's coming home with us tonight."
"Well, if you need anything-" Oliver began to say, but Tommy snapped.
"We're fine." He said quickly, shutting Oliver up. Josie's face scrunched up in disdain at her friend's actions.
"Okay." Oliver replied with a calm tone, plastering an obvious fake smile on his face.
Tommy turned to Laurel with a nod. "We should really get going." He told her, and she watched him for a second before letting her eyes fall onto her light blonde friend who seemed to be patiently waiting to talk with her.
"Here, take Taylor to the car. I want to talk with Josie really quick." Tommy obliged as he took the young boy's hand and escorted him out the back door of the office. But he didn't leave without giving Oliver one last glare. All she could do was watch in confusion. Laurel then faced the two of them, her hands clasped in front of her. "What did you guys come here for?" She asked.
Oliver decided to go first. "I had heard what happened on the news. I just wanted to come down and give my apologies."
"That's nice of you, Ollie. I really appreciate it." Laurel reached out as she placed her hand on Oliver's arm, giving it a light squeeze. The brunette then turned to Josie.
She stood there for a moment, unsure of how to phrase what she had discovered. "I was doing the same thing. But I have something I want to show you. Is it alright if I come over for dinner tonight?" She quietly asked, her eyes directing down to the papers then back to Laurel, trying to have her understand what she was hinting at. The D.A. caught on quickly, as she nodded in agreement.
"Dinner sounds great." She began to back pedal as she made her way to the back door. "Thank you two for coming down, it means a lot." And then she was out the door.
Oliver and Josie shared a quick look before the two made their way back out the front doors. "So what are those papers for?" He asked, his fingers pressing a little more into her back. Josie unrolled them as she glanced down at the printed tables of the peoples names, addresses, occupations and shared accounts under their name.
"I found some things in here that might help out Laurel with this situation and others to come." Was all she replied. Oliver sighed a little, curious as to what she was going to show Laurel with that list of names.
He instead rubbed her back as they arrived to her car which was just a space over from his motorcycle. Josie turned around as she face him. She was about as close to him as she was to Tommy earlier. But this time she didn't feel uncomfortable being in such close proximity to him. Instead, it was more exhilarating. He made her heart skip a beat when he gave her his real smile, and her stomach flip when he laughed or touched her. He made her feel like a little school girl with a crush.
Oliver's lips formed a line as he gazed down at her. "You never specified if there was going to be a second date." He pointed out to her.
Josie's eyes moved to the side, acting as if she were thinking. When she could sense that Oliver was becoming antsy about her hesitation, she looked back at him with a wide smile. "Of course there's a second date. I wouldn't kiss you on the first and leave it at that. Besides, you owe me one for making me late to get back to work."
Oliver returned her wide smile, as he ducked his head, swooping in to catch her lips in a quick kiss. His warm hands were already on her cheeks, holding her face delicately. She reached up on her toes so that he wouldn't have to bend down so much. Her hands found his shirt, and she bunched the fabric up in them, before laying them flat on his chest, feeling his toned body underneath.
"Let's do this Saturday? At eight?" He asked her once they pulled away. She nodded happily, as he tugged her towards him and wrapped his arms around her. "Wear something nice." He said into her ear, before pulling his face back a little as he kissed her forehead.
"I will as long as you wear your dark grey, pinstripe suit with that green and grey tie I got you for Christmas. I know you still have it." She remarked, and Oliver squeezed her sides.
"Of course I do, it's my favorite one." He gave her one last peck on the lips before releasing her. Before she could get into her car, he called out. "Saturday at eight. Don't forget!"
Josie couldn't help her ridiculously large grin. "I'll have my assistant put it in my scheduled." She joked back.
And, although she was excited for their date, and couldn't wait for it, she had a strong feeling that something was going to happen before then. Something incredibly terrible, and she was going to be in the middle of it. When was she not?
Wow! Long time, huh? Well here is the newest chapter, and everything that happened here was nothing I had originally planned, but I was craving an Oliver/Josie kiss so I made it happen? What do you guys think?
But not everything is going to be rainbows and sunshine for these two, sadly. This is part one of episode 1x20, Home Invasion. And things are about to go down.
Also, Josie has decided to finally start getting on the streets, but not without the help of someone who looks like an Abercrombie model, who will fit in the next chapter or so.
(Also, i apologize for the third person point of views that switch from Oliver and Josie, i know it must seem confusing. I just wanted to convey what both are thinking without having to create page breaks to swap between the two. I know it is a cardinal sin when it comes to writing. I'm sorry!)
Lastly, as much as I want to respond to your reviews individually, I feel that others wont care for it. So i have decided to get a tumblr where I can answer your questions, take suggestions and much more! My url is hellawhiteknees and I tried posting the link on my profile but for some reason it isnt working. But yeah, please go over there if you do have a tumblr or just want to ask me something more in depth over there! I am more than willing to answer.
To highlander: this is season 1 still, so not the Flash just yet. Also, she has two goals. Her main one is to be a savior for people who were in the same situation as her brother when he died; so those who get robbed, mugged, etc. But she will have a more personal goal in the next season that revolves around Colton's murder.
To winterrain: I am more than happy to take any suggestions you have. I want to hear what you guys want! I have main parts of the show plotted out for Josie and Oliver, but the smaller details I still need to think out, and your suggestions could definitely help!
Finally, for those who haven't yet, please favorite, follow and review! Your feedback is my everything!
