She was so cold. The air was howling in a low hiss as it swept across the mountain sides, blowing the figure this way and that as she tried to stay on her feet. I'm so cold. Was the only thought that went through her mind as she slowly pulled her foot from the deep snow only for it to sink again as she took another step. Her boots offered no warmth, her feet were frozen through it would seem and her long plush sweater offered very little protection. Eyelashes held tiny crystals from the tears she fought to shed and lips were a deepening blue color.
Aurora felt like a fool. A fool of a person and a fool of a mother for leaving the way she did. She never wanted to stay in a permanent home, she longed for adventures, longed for freedom and relished in the openness of the world that was at her fingertips. Her shaking knees gave out from her and she fell to the ground, sinking into the snow with a violent shiver.
She didn't want what her husband wanted. He wanted to retire, live in a beautiful home and pass on his Pokemon to their daughter when she came of age. At the thought of her daughter the tears she fought so hard against came back and froze to her cheek as they fell. Her sweet child; her lovely daughter with her blue eyes that matched her own. She just up and left with only a whispered goodbye to her child's sleeping form and a kiss to her brow. That was all she left for her.
With a soft sob and mustering up the rest of her strength, Aurora undid her leather belt that held the poke balls of her friends and brought them to the edge of the cliff. Through the mist she could see the tips of green tree tops that rested at the bottom, the forest that she had trekked through to get here was just below her but her time was running out. Her tears stopped, freezing to her cheeks but she still cried; she was not going to doom her friends for her selfish desires. They had followed her on her quest, abandoning their friends at home to show her their loyalty and she wasn't going to let them suffer.
"You are free of me." She choked as she stared at the belt lovingly. "Please go your own ways; you no longer have to show me your loyalty." Her sob rang through the air as she brought the belt to her chest, hugging the poke balls close. "You have shown it to me tenfold. All I can ask now is to show my daughter how much I loved her and that mommy is sorry for leaving."
With the rest of her strength she held the belt over the cliff, praying that her Pokemon will be safe. "Goodbye, my friends." With that the leather slipped from her fingers and with a soft whistle of air, the belt fell to the forest below and disappeared amongst the trees.
Aurora shivered and tried to catch her breath as she slumped to the rock wall behind her, her strength spent so low that she couldn't bring her arms up to hold herself. She lay against the side of the mountain, her fingers numbed, her legs frozen still and her lips a striking blue against her paled features. She could see that her vision was beginning to blur and her shivering was not as violent as before. Exhaustion was creeping up on her quickly and she knew that her light was beginning to go out.
With her chin resting to her chest and limbs sitting loosely in her lap, her vision left her but all she could see were the smiling faces of her husband and daughter back home in Pallet. She could see her daughter happily playing in the yard, her husband sitting on the porch steps with a proud smile to his lips. She knew that he would care for her, love her and soon teach her the ways of Pokemon. She could slip in peace with that in mind.
"Mommy loves you, Amorah." Was her final whisper before she fell silent, slumped against the mountain side as the snow picked up its fury though in the distance two red eyes could be seen, watching the woman slowly succumb to the cold before disappearing with a flap of frosty wings.
Yeah I'm rusty. Decided that one of my New Year resolutions is to pick my stories back up and try my best to update them. I couldn't really think of a chapter to proceed the last one for this story so I decided to write a little flash back on what happened to Amorah's mother, Aurora. She is only mentioned by name in the first chapter. I thought about how I should enter Aurora and this was what came up and also I entered a new legendary since I had Aurora be trapped on a snowy mountain so I hope it holds you guys off for a little bit while I finish writing the next chapter and update my other stories. Next chapter should hopefully be out soon and new story should be up any time also.
I went and saw The Battle of the Five Armies and fell head over heels in love with it and ideas have been swimming around for some time. I can't wait to start!
