Previously on We are the Noah...
"What are you two doing here?" Allen said coldly, his fists clenching tightly under the table, almost hard enough to draw blood from his palms.
Kanda and Lavi stared back into his eyes.
"ALLEN!"
LATER ON FROM... THAT...
The Millennium Earl looked in the soft flickering light of his fireplace, pondering this situation. As he stared into the flames he couldn't help but wonder what had happened between the exorcists and Allen to make them hate each other so much. Not that he really cared, but if this was something he could use to tear the Black Order apart then he would hardly let the chance slip by.
His mind then focused on the two exorcists currently held in the basement.
What was he going to do with them? After they had made their sudden entrance into the middle of a family meal and caused much confusion and anger, The Earl decided to shove them somewhere else so he could calm down and think what to do in this situation. That somewhere was the basement.
On one hand, they were exorcists, trained to kill Akuma and Noah and probably still very loyal to the black order, well... the swordsman anyway. He knew the Bookman was fair game but neither would consider showing up if Allen wasn't here. On the other hand, their bond of friendship with Allen was strong, even if it was slightly one sided and Allen was still turning a cold shoulder, he could still see plainly that they cared about him.
Sighing once again for the hundredth time it seemed, the Earl rested his large chin upon his hand.
The time for action was almost upon them.
Kanda took a seat on the stone of the floor dungeon rather calmly considering their situation. However Lavi did not protest against his actions, he needed this time to think about this pinch they seemed to have got themselves into.
"Why do we always rush blindly into situations?" He asked the silent swordsman "I'm supposed to be a bookman, we're meant to be intelligent and not just stampede into trouble." Still the swordsman didn't reply and Lavi decided he missed emotional Kanda. "What if they decide to kill us?" He added with worry. "Moyashi would never let them." Murmured Kanda. Lavi gave him a look "Yuu, I know to you he's all sunshine and rainbows but something tells me he's not going to vouch for us this time."
Kanda huffed and stared into the opposite wall, Lavi hoped he was forming a plan. He opened his mouth to speak but Kanda held up a hand, quickly silencing him.
...
"Let's desert the Order. It's not like there's anything left for us there."
Lavi was silent. Kanda had a perfectly good point and Panda-Jiji always used to say 'If you can't fight 'em, join 'em.' But he was sure Kanda still was loyal to the order, or at least he'd thought that.
"What about you though? Don't you have a home at the order?" The junior bookman questioned his companion.
"Do you really think they would let me back in after the little incident with Lenalee? Baka Usagi."
Ignoring the insult Lavi silently agreed with him, chopping off a fellow exorcists arm was obviously going to have bad repercussions. The redhead huffed again.
"Well this is getting us nowhere! I suppose we're just gonna sit here and wait for them to make a decision?" Kanda shrugged, eyes never straying from where he had fixed them in a staring contest with the brickwork. But inside his head everything was moving way too fast. There were thoughts about Allen, about escape, Allen, The Earl and his evil plot, Lenalee and what she might do next, and also Allen. Things were just moving so quickly, and Kanda had led a calm and slow moving life for a while now. This sort of tragedy reminded him of-
No. There was time for delving into the past later. Right now they had a cell to break out of. He looked back at the pacing redhead who looked rather amusing and he smiled inwardly slightly.
Allen almost punched the bedroom wall in his frustration.
He couldn't loose it now, not after he had come so far.
Road was outside, fully able to walk in but Allen had asked for some time alone. So she stood outside his room, secretly wanting to burst through the door and comfort him. But Allen just wouldn't let her see him like this.
To be honest, Allen was afraid. He was afraid that he would grow weak again in the presence of his friends, that he wouldn't be able to fight them. He wanted to remain strong but he knew deep down that they probably didn't want him dead, not yet at least. But he couldn't trust them. Neah wasn't speaking to him at the moment but for some reason there was a ringing in his ears.
"Neah? Are you there?"
"..."
"Are you angry with me?"
"..."
Allen huffed in annoyance, Neah was being so selfish. It had been happening quite recently actually, he kept coming over light headed and sometimes fainted, then he'd wake up somewhere else with no memory of how he had got there. He had tried asking the Earl what it meant, but for some reason he always seemed to avoid the topic.
There was a weird pressure on his mind, but Allen put it down to all the drama that had recently occurred. His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door followed by it opening behind him.
"I told you Road, I need to be alone." He said, thinking about how that was the complete opposite of what he wanted right now.
"The last time I checked my name was not Road."
Allen looked around to see Tyki's head in the gap of the doorway. "The Earl wants to have a word. He asked me to come and get you." Tyki seemed slightly annoyed, Allen guessed it was because of his pet-name that the Earl was so fond of using. "Right." Sighed the white haired boy, trudging across the carpet and through the doorway. Road was still outside, tapping her foot impatiently on the wooden floor creating soft thudding noises. When she cause sight of Allen she immediately pulled him into a bone-crushing hug.
No words were exchanged between the two as the stood like that for a moment. Tyki waited by the side of them awkwardly. When the two pulled apart Road smiled up at him, making Allen smile back. That was one of the things he loved about Road. However low down you are in the dumps with just one smile she suddenly seemed to make your spirits lift again. It was as if she was an infinite display of sunlight for Allen and with all the problems he was facing at the moment, he needed someone like Road there.
He turned back to Tyki who looked impatient and Allen realised it wasn't just himself who was under pressure at the moment, all of the Noah family were involved in this war. "Shall we get going?" He suggested, Tyki seemed grateful as he led the way down the corridor.
"Road, stay here and wait for me to come back." Allen told the small Noah girl, who pouted and reluctantly agreed to stay. The whitette then made his way onwards following the older Noah as he wondered what the Earl had to tell him.
The Millennium Earl was still situated by the roaring fire as Allen was brought into the room with Tyki. "Allen-kun! Please take a seat." The Earl gestured to the red armchair opposite from him. Tyki took this as a signal to leave, leaving the two alone. Neither spoke for a moment, Allen was the first to say something.
"What are you planning to do about them?"
The Millennium Earl didn't so much as shift as he looked back at the boy. "Well Allen-kun, I was hoping you could tell me." When the boy looked confused the Earl continued. "What I mean to say is that they are your friends, so surely you should have some say in what happens to them."
Allen sucked in a breath, the Millennium Earl wanted him to decide? How could he make that decision? Allen wondered how he should play this out, eventually he spoke, choosing his words very carefully as he did so.
"When they first arrived... they didn't seem violent... but I don't trust them..." The whitette stopped. "Look.. Why are you making me choose, I can't do this!"
The Earl looked blankly at him, before his face morphed into one of disappointment and Allen felt panic rise in his head.
"I thought you were stronger than this Allen-kun." The Earl said with a sigh. "I thought you were a master of your emotions."
"I-I-" Allen stuttered before his head gave an abnormal twinge of pain.
"Co-onnfussse-d?" Said a voice that quickly sped through his eardrums and buzzed like it was on the receiving end of a bad transmitter.
"Neah?"
"..."
"...Neah? Was that you?"
"..."
That was weird, Allen could have sworn he'd heard Neah. Although he'd sounded distorted and fuzzy Allen could have sworn it was him. He shook his head, trying to ignore the ringing in his ears.
"Allen-kun, Its not polite to ignore people." The Earl cut back into his thoughts sharply. Allen blinked and regained focus, realising he was in the middle of an important discussion about the life or death of his former friends.
"You know what I think~?" The Earl stated. Allen looked blank. "Wh- what do you think?" The Earl leaned back in his armchair and folded his arms across his chest. "I think we should keep them here, under supervision of course~. They could prove useful in the near future." Allen was definatley surprised with the Earls decision. "The only thing I am worried about is you Allen-kun, will you really be able to keep your emotions in check or will you let them revert you back to your old naive self~?" Although the Earl had made a perfectly rational point Allen couldn't help but feel slight anger and annoyance at his words. Was this his way of saying that he wasn't strong enough? Did he not have any faith in him?
"Whh-y let hi-mm control y-ou?" Neah was there again.
Allen put a hand up to his head and rubbed slightly, he needed to stop thinking Neah was there when he wasn't. He didn't seem to notice that a slight cloudiness was flooding his eyesight.
"Le-t go All-en."
A weird feeling overtook him, but it was quite pleasant. Like drifting off to sleep. However Allen was sure it wasn't this dark in the room before. He then realised the ringing in his ears was actually a tune he recognized.
"Allen-kun? Are you listening~?... Allen?" The Earl was slightly startled as Allen slid from his chair onto the carpet. "Allen?"
Before the Earl could even move Allen had stirred and was pulling himself off the floor sluggishly. "Are you al-right?" The boy swayed slightly with his head bowed and his fringe casting dark shadows over his eyes. The Earl was even more surprised when Allen making a strange noise which he soon realised was laughter.
"Its been a while, Adam." Allen spoke in a voice unlike his own.
The Earl clutched into the arms of his chair.
" I should have known this was your doing, Neah."
Road: The plot thickens! *eats peppermint cream*
Earl: Whatever will happen to Allen-kun~? But first, lets check reviews! This one is from Tyki075.
Road: Wait... As in actual Tyki?
Earl: This is what it says~!
I don't want to be mean but... DIE LENALEE! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *cough cough* Anyways, amazing story! I think Allen deserves some revenge and time to be evil, so thank you for granting him that. Just saying but, why would you put Choaji in here? (I've never liked him, especially after what he said to Allen, plus his naïve personality pisses me off) Kanda's back to normal I see, him being emotional was awesome, I just love Yullen sometimes, you should get some more emotional Kanda in here, just don't go overboard, he still has to be an ass. Keep writing! (or die! *pulls Mugen from out of nowhere and laugh manically*)
Earl: Personally im slightly scared for angelic-chan~
Road: Thank you for reviewing! *Throws peppermint cream* As for chaoji, I don't even know why he was there. He has no part in this story whatsoever. I guess you could just call it improvising.
Earl: Next review Road Chan!
Road: This one is from Blackrose2358.
