"Okay everyone, lights out!" Called Tyki as the lamp flickered and the room was plunged into darkness. There were some cries of dismay as Lavi fumbled and almost tripped over Kanda. Road was giggling away on the other side of the room, amused by the two exorcists. They were all hushed by Lulubell, who was always good at being silent.
"I think they're here!" Whispered Lavi, As the sounds of Jasdebi and Allen talking could be heard through the doors.
"All troops in position!" Reprimanded Road, and everyone waited with bated breath.

Allen and the Noah of bonds stepped out of the glimmering white gate and into the hallways of the ark.
"We're back!" Called Allen, as he let the gate disappear and waited for a reply. None came. Allen looked up and down the hallway. There was not a single soul in sight. "Where is everybody?" He wondered aloud to Jasdebi, Who both shuffled nervously.
"Guys?" Questioned Allen with building suspicion. "What's going on?"
"I have no idea!" Cried Jasdero, trying his best to look surprised. "Maybe they went out?"
"What, everyone in the ark decided to go on a stroll at once?"
"How are we supposed to know, we've been with you all day." Retorted Devito.
Allen still looked extremely wary of his answer, as he began to take long strides towards the main dining room. Eyes trained on every corner, the boy looked for any sign of movement. It was unbelievably suspicious.
Once reaching the end of the corridor, he paused at the double doors of the dining room. Surely there would be someone in here. He knew that Skinn couldn't keep his hands off the sweet foods for five minutes.
With the tiniest click and creak, the door slowly swung open.
Inside, it was pitch black. Allen couldn't see more than a few feet in front of him. It was the strangest thing, as never once in all of his time in the ark had the lights in the dining room been off like this. He took a hesitant step, and called out. "Is anyone in here?"
There was a moment of silence, before the lamps burst to life, temporarily blinding the young white-ette and causing him to stagger backwards. A sudden surge of noise was loud in his ears as faces started registering in his mind.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
Allen blinked in wide-eyed surprise. He took in all the decorations on the walls and the people smiling at him, before smiling brightly himself and letting out a small laugh. Every inhabitant of the ark was standing before him, of course not including Jasdebi who were behind him, and finally relaxing from their tiresome acting job.
"Thankyou everyone!" He called to the mass of people, to which they cheered in response. Allen, so overwhelmed by his surprise, hadn't even noticed Lavi and Kanda exchange glances. Or rather, Lavi grinned at Kanda and Kanda had raised an eyebrow in amusement.
With the party now in full swing, everyone was chatting, laughing, or pushing their presents into Allens already overflowing arms. He had to take a moment to put down all his sweets and begin unwrapping some of the shiny gifts.
Lavi had pulled Tyki to the side whilst Allen was pre-occupied, having just unwrapped Road's gift and was being glomped after expressing his happiness.
"I knew we would be having this conversation." Tyki said with a knowing grin and Lavi rolled his eyes. "Very funny."
"So what's up?" Said the Noah, barely concealed mirth in his eyes. He watched as Road let go of Allen and ran off to find more presents.
"You know what's up." Lavi said. And Tyki did.
"You want to go up to Allen but you're scared he'll give you a cold shoulder?"
Lavi faltered. "When you put it like that its kinda..."
Tyki chuckled at the redhead's predicament. "I guess I can help out a poor soul such as yourself..."
LINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAK
Ducking through the crowd, and dragging a protesting Lavi behind him, Tyki dumped the exorcist in front of Allen and vanished once again into the mass of people without even a glance back. Lavi stared unbelievingly ahead, not believing that Tyki had actually thought this was a good idea. He probably thought that the best way to deal with Lavi's shyness was to confront his fear. Lavi wholeheartedly disagreed with the current situation, but could only watch as the white-haired Noah finally looked up from his presents and caught his eye.
"Uh... Hello there!" the redhead said, voice slightly cracking.
It was almost as though they were meeting again for the first time, except this time Allen was not a small boy in a hospital bed, silver eyes innocent and thoughtful. This time Allen was different.
He fidgeted uncomfortably, as Allen's gaze was still fixed onto him.
In Allen's mind, Neah sighed and decided to speak.
"How long are you going to keep this up?"
"...What do you mean?"
"When you started to control the ark. You knew he was afraid. They all were."
"So you're saying I should just forgive all of them? Cause that's not happening. I was afraid too!"
"No, I didn't mean all of them..."
"..."
"But at least say hi or something. Your staring is starting to get creepy."
"Don't judge me. I'm thinking."
".. Sure. Take your time."
Lavi was starting to feel a little creeped out. Allen had not broken his gaze for quite a while now. He was debating whether or not to say something else, or perhaps run away, but some kind of determination kept him rooted to the floor. He could only imagine the war taking place in the young noah's thoughts.
"Hi."
Lavi swore for a second he had been hallucinating, it almost sounded like Allen had said hi to him.
"Lavi?" Allen spoke a little stronger this time. The redhead in question blinked in surprise. Allen was speaking to him!
"H-Hey." Said Lavi. "I-I just came over because I wanted to w-wish you a Happy Birthday and say that Im sorry for eve-"
Allen held up a hand, causing Lavi to trail off nervously.
"I know that you are sorry. You wouldn't be here if you weren't feeling guilty." The boy said. "I would have thought you would choose friendship over orders, but by breaking away and coming here I realised that you two have both changed quite a bit."
Lavi was at a loss for what to say. Did this mean-?
"I know what you may be thinking at the moment, but no, I haven't forgiven you yet."
"O-Oh..." Lavi said. "I-Is there any way I can make it up to you?" He noticed Kanda out of the corner of his eye. The blue haired samurai seemed to be listening in. Something told him that Allen knew he was there, but wasn't acknowledging him.
"I don't know." Said Allen with a sigh. "But I don't want to fight with you anymore. You two were my best friends... You and, well..."
Lenalee's name was not spoken, but it rung loud and clear in both of their minds.
"I don't know what's gotten into her." Lavi said sadly. "Her ideals just seem all wrong at the moment."
"Lets not talk about it." Said Road suddenly from behind him, making him jump. Her arms carried more presents. "We can sort that out later, right now these gifts need unwrapping."
Allen's expression softened and he sent a quick glance at Lavi. "You don't mind if I stop our conversation here?"
"Not at all." Lavi said, with a small smile. He was happy that Allen didn't want to fight with him anymore. As he stood to leave, he hardly even noticed Kanda turn and walk away.
LINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAK
Theory and practise were two very different things. Kanda realised this as he walked away from the happy couple, currently laughing and talking together. He had felt lonliness before, but it was nothing compared to this. Knowing that he could have done something to prevent it was almost unbearable.
It was clear that Allen felt nothing for him.
He wanted to scream. He wanted to yell and shake Allen by the shoulders and tell him everything he was feeling. But he knew that Allen had Road now.
He sat on the balcony for the duration of the party, away from everyone's sight. He knew that he was being childish, but he couldn't bring himself to care. The night was not cold, but somehow snow was drifting down to settle on the banister. He sat there for a long while, occasionally brushing snow off of his clothes.
After some time it quieted down inside, and he assumed that people were packing up. Sighing, he stretched his joints as he climbed down and began to make his way back inside. Before he could reach the door however, he was blocked by the very person he both wanted to see and did not want to see.
"Were you out here the whole time?" Allen said, and although it was not in the least bit cold, Kanda felt as though his jaw had frozen.
It seemed as though Allen had expected this. "I know you were listening in when I was talking to Lavi."
"So what if I was?" Kanda bit out. The smaller boy sighed.
"I just wanted to let you know that I am prepared to forgive you in time. Not quite yet."
Kanda knew that Allen was trying to be the bigger person, but he wanted more than just forgiveness. He wanted to see those silver eyes look at him, and only him. He knew that it was selfish, and that Allen would hate him if he ever spoke of it. In fact, the pale haired boy was now staring at him as if he'd grown an extra head.
"What are you trying to say?"
It was then that Kanda had another realisation. It hit him that he had said every thought out loud.

Lenalee's door was opened slowly. It was still the early hours of the morning, so the only source of light was her bedside lamp that flickered with agitation.
"How are you feeling?" It was her big brother. He sat at her bedside, setting the mug of coffee down by the lamp as he did so. "It's strange how I'm the one bringing you coffee this time huh?" He let out a small chuckle, trying to keep his eyes away from the bandages circling his sisters shoulder.
"I feel a lot better. You also seem pretty happy this morning, nii-san." Said Lenalee. She stretched, feeling much stronger.
Her brother smiled and fished a small black golem from his coat pocket. "I've had an idea."
Lenalee's eyes lit up. "About Allen?" Komui nodded. He clicked the golem to life, and it whirred before playing a recorded message. Lenalee recognised the voice almost immediately.
"Allen-kun. I need your help."
LINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAKLINEBREAK
Spooky. Anyone wanna guess who's voice it was on the recording? It will be interesting to see if any of you guess right. I know i left no clues at all cause im stingy. It's not Road btw.
