"So, any ideas on how to find this Technodrome of yours?"
"Sure, all we have to do is-"
The ground suddenly shook a bit violently startling the whole group in the lair, who were now standing in front of Donatello's main frame computer system, and causing the two Mikes who were doing some skateboard stunts in mid air, to trip off their skateboards and fall into the water. Fortunately, the tremor only lasted a few seconds.
"-follow those waves!" Donatello finished off his answer to his counterpart's question.
Don blinked once to process what he just heard.
"What do those waves have to do with it?"
"Did they start around the same time you found about us?"
"Well..."
"The same news reporter, who informed us about your encounter with the Purple Dragons, mentioned something about some 'Seismic activities' happening in Manhattan. Would this information be of use to you, Donatello?"
Splinter informed his sons as the two Mikes came out of the waters and joined in to find out what was going on.
"The News? Great! Why don't you guys ask April for help? She'll be able to get us more information from Channel 6!"
The four taller turtles and their Sensei gave Leonardo an odd look, followed by an awkward silence.
"What channel 6?" Raph inquired gruffly.
"You know, where April works as a News Reporter!" Leonardo explained.
Another awkward silence made Leonardo feel uncomfortable.
"Let me guess; Your April has a different C.V?"
Raphael broke the silence, which was followed by five nodding heads.
"Uh, sorry. Keep forgetting I'm not home." Leonardo rubbed the back of his head embarrassedly.
"That's OK, Bro . You're suffering from Dimensional Shock! It'll wear off!" Mikey playfully said.
"Dimensional Shock?" Don eyed him. "That term doesn't even exist, Mikey."
"Well for your information Super Heroes get it all the time whenever they visit alternate worlds." the prankster pointed out "Shell, WE experienced it back when that Ultimate-Drago Freak banished us to those different worlds, remember?"
Don looked away as a certain unpleasant memory came back to him. Mikey realized too late his mistake.
"Uh, I mean-"
"BONEHEAD!"
"OWCH!"
"One of these days your mouth will be the end of you!" Raph yelled at his goofball brother, while Leo and Splinter shook their heads.
"It's OK, Raph. I'm fine." Don glanced at his brothers before he proceeded to search for the news about the recent seismic activities on the net, while Mike continued rubbing his head.
"Heheh. This is more entertaining than those comedy shows we watch back at home!"
Raphael was enjoying the play before him, while Donatello eyed thoughtfully at his counterpart and having this strange sinking feeling that he somehow knew what made him upset.
"Hey, Dude! Watch it, my arm hurts!"
Donatello heard Michelangelo burst. Only then did he realize that he was holding his brother's forearm in a tight grip and he was trying to pull away.
"Whoa! " He let go as if his hand was on fire. "Sorry, I don't know what got into me."
"Chill out, Dude. I'm fine." Michelangelo rubbed his forearm. "Man, your grip is tight! "
The hosts noticed this then looked at one another, knowingly.
"Here, I think I found what we're looking for." Don decided to dismiss the whole thing, and motioned to his counterpart to come look at the screen.
"Wow! Interesting technology!" Donatello was amazed by how advanced this computer was, then suddenly gasped and took a step back as he eyed something that made his eyes get wider and his face pale.
"What's wrong?" Don asked confusion written all over his face.
"Is the city out of pepperoni again?" Raphael asked jokingly.
"No! We're in 2008!"
The moment the other three turtles heard that they wore the same expression as his. Few minutes has passed like years before Leonardo broke the silence.
"I can't believe this!"
"So, like, now we're forty something?" Michelangelo dreaded to ask.
"I don't wanna be a Middle-aged Mutant Ninja Turtle!" Rapahel exclaimed.
"Relax, Guys. We're still teenagers" Donatello turned to assure them "We're in a different dimension so we haven't aged at all. And let me remind you; We were 'born' Teenagers!"
"Oh yeah, I forgot. We haven't aged a bit since 1984!" Raphael recalled.
The hosts shared a look of confusion with each other.
"Wait a second! Born Teenagers?!" Leo inquired.
"Yeah, fifteen to be exact. According to my tests anyway." Donatello responded, before he realized something "Uh, and you?"
"We started out as toddlers and grew up like the humans." Leo shrugged.
"You mean to say you went through all kinds of kiddy shenanigans?!" Michelangelo was astonished.
"Yep, we lived it to the fullest" Mikey proudly nodded.
"Master Splinter; how did you survive?!" Raphael mischievously asked.
"Patience… A lot of patience… And Herbal teas."
He answered, rubbing his temple as recalled those days.
"I know how you feel, Master; I had to put up with these guys when Donatello's -"
"Say! look at this earthquake map!" Donatello cut in, pointing at the screen, grabbing everyone's attention.
"Whew, that was close." Raphael eyed the forth wall and whispered with an ominous voice . "They mustn't know!"
Raph noticed it "Creepy." he whispered before eyeing the screen again.
"It's the tremor report Master Splinter mentioned earlier." Don said.
"If that was caused by the Technodome, then I'm sure 99.9999% that we're on to something!" Donatello hit the side of his fist on the palm of the other hand.
"Explain it to me."
Don asked, turning to face himself.
"It usually hides under the Earth's surface, and it moves around by burrowing through the Crust layer. And I'm telling you, the Technodrome's not gopher-sized."
"How big is it?"
"The Technodrome is a spherical war machine. The diameter is about 500 meters minus the huge tank treads and its mounted surveillance eye on the top ."
"A 500m diameter!? That's devastating! If a machine that size continues to burrow underground, they could damage New York's infrastructure!"
Don's statement got his brothers and sensei worried.
"No worries, all we need is a accelerograph and we'll find it in no time."
"An accelerograph..." Don tried to remember something about the device "I think I might happen to have a device in here somewhere, that might just help, but I'm not sure if its functional or not."
He opened up a drawer and took out a handheld device with a screen and showed it to him.
"Terrific! This will definitely help us out. Got any tools box?" He asked as he took the device.
Don took out a screwdriver from the drawer and offered it to him.
"I have the tool box at the garage if you want me to fetch it-"
"Thanks, this'll do."
The Turtles and Splinter watched Donatello as he leaned against the computer tinkering with the device.
"Um," Don addressed his sensei "We might take sometime to assemble it, so-"
"Finished!" Donatello announced.
"What?! Don's already done?!" Mikey voiced the surprised look, he and the others wore.
"We're good to go!" He said cheerfully, as uncertainty was written all over Don's face when the device was given back to him.
"But are you sure that it'll function?" he asked doubtfully "I mean you barely touched the thing!"
"Sure, I'm sure! I've been tracking that gigantic vehicle ever since we confronted Shredder for the first time, and it never escaped me. Not once." Donatello reassured him with a smile.
"Donatello Turtle: Technodrome Hunter!" Michelangelo laughed.
"But… oh fine, it's your territory so I'll go along with it. But before we go, take this."
He gave each of the four turtles a shell cell.
"Oh, so these are your dimension's Turtle-com!" Donatello examined his transceiver excitedly.
"Is that what you call them?"
"Yeah, boy are these advanced or what!" He was clearly fascinated.
"They're not difficult to operate, are they?" Leonardo asked.
"Relax, Donny here designed them to be simple enough for Mikey's level, so no worries." Raph smirked.
"Hey, I can handle 'advanced'!"
"You sure lack any advancement in here." Raph tapped his brother's head.
"Enough, Raph" Leo interjected. "We need to move now. We've got no time to lose." he ordered.
"I only agree because I want ta be done with this whole thing."
Raph stated as they all headed to the lair's exit.
A/N:
-I'm not sure about the year the 87' Turtles got mutated so I randomly used 1984 as a nod to the comics. I consider 1987 to be the year they started their adventures.
-I have limited data about the Technodrome's size canon-wise so I just made it up here.
