Dumbledore (Such Creativity, Wow)
DAY TWO OF SCHOOL
Lucy stifled a yawn as she pulled her bed hangings open. The sunlight hit her face without warning as it beamed in through the open windows. There was a slight breeze in the air. Lucy smiled to herself and breathed in slowly. It felt good to wake up to some peace and quiet for a-
"FIGHT ME!"
Lucy face-palmed silently. Of course it couldn't be quiet if she was in the same house as that idiot.
"What did Natsu do this time?" Called the Celestial mage as she trooped downstairs, stomping on each stair with an increasing amount of aggression. Gray answered as she entered the common room. "He picked a fight with a painting again." He said warily from his seat by the window, back up against the glass. Lucy was guessing he was trying to get away from the heat of the crackling fireplace and from the roaring flames Natsu was currently throwing at a painting of a quidditch player. The canvas seemed to be fire-proof, as the flames were not affecting it in the slightest. This seemed to anger Natsu to no end as the boy on the broom jeered at him through the canvas, before flying out of sight. The dragon slayer huffed and sat in an armchair, muttering profanities. Happy was giggling in the corner. Lucy sighed in exhaspiration, one would think that after getting out of the hospital wing just yesterday Natsu would be resting. That was never the case with a Fairy Tail mage. They just seemed to have an endless supply of stamina. The blonde mage looked back towards the window"Are you looking for something Gray?" Asked Lucy curiously as she noticed Gray rumaging through his rucksack. "My timetable, I want to know what classes we have today. Better to be prepared eh?" Lucy nodded in agreement of her fellow mages antics, it was good to have at least one person around who had their head on the right way. "I'm hungry!" Whined Natsu from his armchair, eyeing up the fireplace. "You dont even want to know what will happen to you if you try to eat that fire." Warned Lucy with a glint in her eye, she was definatly not going without heat for the rest of the day. It was almost winter after all!
"Hey, Lucy." Said Natsu suddenly. "Hm?" Lucy inclined her head, genuinely curious. "Come here for a second." The pink haired mage said beckoning her over. Raising her eyebrows ever so slightly Lucy made her way over to stand in front of Natsu. "What do you-Waaauh!" Without any warning Natsu had pulled her down onto his lap. "Wha- What are you doing?!" Cried the celestial mage as her fash flushed bright red. "hm." Natsu hummed into her shoulder as he pulled her closer. "He liiikeees you..." Sang Happy as he sat by the fire. "Oh get a room." Called Gray, having finally found his timetable and looked over to see the two mages. Lucy's brain was whirring, why was Natsu hugging her? It was so sudden! She awkwardly let him hug her. There was some wolf whistling from the staircase as the Weasley twins descended into the common room. Lucy fixed them a glare and they put their hands up in defense and made their way out of the portrait hole. "Lucy..." Natsu whispered close to her ear. "Y-Yeah?" Lucy stuttered. He suddenly pulled away to flash her a grin and exclaimed "IM SO HUNGRY LETS GO DOWN TO BREAKFAST!" A vien popped in Lucy's temple, 'of course' she reminded herself 'He's just a moron', And she wasn't the only one that was annoyed. "IM TRYING TO READ A TIMETABLE! SHUT UP!" Shouted Gray and threw his rucksack at Natsu's head.
"Is everything ok Erza?" Lucy questioned as she helped herself to some toast that wasn't within Natsu's line of sight. She didn't want to starve to death because that moron had a bottomless pit for a stomach. Erza seemed withdrawn, and Lucy prided herself in her ability to read people. She would find out what was upsetting Erza and she would put it right! "Hm?" Erza blinked and looked up from her own breakfast. "Oh, Sorry I zoned out for a second." She then went back to pushing the food around on her plate. The gryfindors sitting near the redhead looked curious as to why the ravenclaw was at their table, but didn't question it. Lucy pouted at her friends antics whilst Happy munched cheerfully on a fish. Natsu was still shovelling food in his mouth at an increasing pace. Gray cringed as he was sitting opposite the pink haired mage and was in direct view of the display. "Can you not be so disgusting?" The ice mage sneered to his rival. "Ca yo nt beh such a mron." Replied Natsu through a mouthful of food. "Huh!?" said Gray loudly, rising from his seat. Natsu swallowed hurridly, "You heard me!" He yelled also standing, the students around looked cautiously back and forth between the two. "I thought you two were getting along?" Said Erza from her seat, a strange glint in her eye. Lucy recoiled nervously. Gray and Natsu looked horrified. "Unless of course you want the sense beaten back into you-" There were two thumps as Gray and Natsu said down hurriedly "Nonono! We are the best of friends!" Exclaimed Gray as he went back to eating his food. "Yeah! Just a friendly banter here!" Agreed Natsu and ate his food more slowly this time.
Erza looked victorious, but she soon became anxious as Harry walked through the front entrance. Numerous people seemed to actually get out of their seats to look at him, and the hush that suddenly fell over them caused Lucy to fell extremely uncomfortable, she couldn't even bear to think how Harry was feeling. The young mage walked over to them and took a seat next to Gray. "Good Morning Harry." Lucy said, breaking the slight tension. "Good Morning." He replied as he began to pile food onto his plate.
The morning post owls flew in at that moment and seemed to slightly diffuse the awkwardness.
Lucy gasped as her owl dropped a bright red envelope into her lap, as she held it up the students around her all stared. Gray looked confused "What's that?" He asked, pointing to the envelope that was smoking slightly at the edges. "I-It's a howler." Replied Lucy. "Open it." Said Erza suddenly "Better to get it over with." Lucy nodded nervously and broke the seal with trembling fingers, it jumped out of her hand and suspended intself in the air.
"HOW DO YOU WORK THIS THING?" Shouted the voice of Gajeel "HANG ON I GOT IT- RIGHT OKAY. YO MORONS! DONT KILL YOURSELVES OUT THERE! AND NATSU, GET READY FOR A REAL FIGHT WHEN YOU GET BACK!"
"OI BRATS! HOW ARE YOU GETTING ON?!" Shouted one obvious voice of Master Makarov "YOU BETTER NOT BE CAUSING ANY TROUBLE! HAHA!"
"GRAY-SAMA!" Gray paled at the sound of Juvia's voice "COME BACK SOON! JUVIA MISSES YOU LOTS!"
"They've only been gone for two days!" Lisanna's voice could only just be heard.
"Oi! Pass me the letter- Thanks." The voice changed to Levy's. "Lucy-chan, Erza-chan! Hope you're doing okay! And- HEY GIVE IT BACK-"
"Dont make a fool of yourselves over there. Idiots." Said Laxus "Laxus-san is so inspiring!" Shouted Freed in the background, before there was a whacking sound "Ouch! Evergreen why?-".
"DON'T FORGET TO BE MANLY!" Roared Elfman suddenly, as he was joined by Mirajane. "Take care! Especially you Harry! I don't know how many times i've needed to buy bandages for you!" Harry sweatdropped.
"I'VE HEARD THERE'S A TYPE OF ALCOHOL OVER THERE I HAVEN'T TRIED! SEND ME A FEW BOTTLES OF THIS 'FIRE WHISKY'-
"Cana-san? Are you drunk again?" Wendy's voice could be heard now.
"She's always drunk, Wendy."
"DONT INSULT MY CUTE DAUGHTER!"
"GILDARTS CALM DOWN, WE DON'T NEED THE GUILD DESTROYED!"
"THAT'S NOT MANLY!"
"STOP SHOUTING!" Master Makarov was talking again. "ANYWAY! THAT'S ALL WE WANTED TO SAY! SEE YOU IN SUMMER BRATS! AND DONT BLOW UP THE CASTLE OTHERWISE YOU'RE GONNA BE IN A WORLD OF HURT WHEN YOU GET BACK!"
And with that the letter exploded in flames. There was a moment of silence in the hall before students started conversing again around them.
Lucy let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in "Well that was...-"
"Unexpected." Finished Gray as he drank the last of his pumpkin juice.
"How did they figure out how to use a Howler?" Asked Harry as his breakfast lay forgotten on the table. "The guild works in mysterious ways." Said Erza as she put down her cutlery, clearly done here. "I don't know. But it's almost time for lessons." Replied Lucy as she finished off her toast quickly. "That bastard Gajeel... His arse is in for a kicking when I get back." Muttered Natsu as he picked up his rucksack and Happy stood from his seat. "Erza what have we got first?" Questioned Harry "Charms." Was her short reply, and with that the two Ravenclaws seperated from them. Lucy turned back to the other mages. "Gray, you were reading the timetable, what do we have?" Gray sighed as he also slung his rucksack over his shoulder " Double Potions. I would hazard a guess it's in the dungeons, but I don't actually know the way." Lucy looked determined. "Don't worry! We can find it if we try!"
"You said the dungeons, right Gray?" Asked Lucy with annoyance.
"Yeah."
"Does this look like the dungeons to you?!" Exclaimed Lucy as she pointed to the window, where the mages could plainly see they were very high up. "I don't ever recall the dungeons being at the top of the castle! How did we even get here?!"
"We're lost." Sighed Happy.
"It was that flame-bastards fault!"
"What did you say?!"
"I know what I said!"
There were suddenly noises from around the corner.
"Both of you shut it!" Said Lucy "And hide!"
Still silenty glaring each other down the two male mages allowed Lucy to pull them into an empty classroom. Happy following quickly as Lucy pulled the door almost closed.
"Lucy what's goin-"
"Shhhhhhhh! I can hear someone coming." Whispered Lucy as the two annonomous people rounded the corner.
"Who is that?" Asked Natsu.
"It's Dumbledore you idiot."
"Dumberbore? What kind of a name is that?"
"Ohmygodshutup." Said Lucy as she smacked them both round the face, Happy was silently giggling into his paws. The blonde haired mage then turned back to watch the two people through the gap in the door.
"I dont understand what you're trying to say Albus." Replied McGonnagall as she stopped walking suddenly. Dumbledore looked warily at her. "Im saying Minerva, that we need answers from him."
"You can't just pry into his life as you please, Albus!" McGonnagall Exclaimed. "Besides what makes you believe he will open up to you?" The old man sighed. "Harry is necessary in this."
Lucy gasped and it was Natsu and Gray's turn to shush her.
"Harry has been god knows where for several years Albus! Can you really believe that he is the same vunurable little boy that you left on those horrible peoples doorstep?!"
"I have to try Minerva, for the greater good."
"It's all about the greater good for you isn't it? You're not the man you once were Albus, what caused you to become so... so manipulative? Just leave the poor boy alone! Find yourself another hero! Now if you will excuse me i have to return to my class." McGonnagall said hotly and stalked away from the old man, her heels clicking on the stone floor.
Dumbledore sighed in defeat before also turning and heading in the opposite direction which his office was probably located in. The trio plus Happy slipped out from behind the door as Dumbledore rounded the corner and was lost from sight.
"What is that old man planning for Harry?" Questioned Gray as his eyebrows furrowed. "I don't know, but I don't like the sound of it." Replied Lucy. "If anyone tries to hurt my friends, even if its Harry and he's always zapping me and I don't like that. But anyway, the people who hurt my friends are already on my burn list." Stated Natsu, his dragon instincts flaring. Happy was nodding furiously "We should tell Harry." He said suddenly. "You're right, he'd want to know about this." Lucy agreed.
"But first. We need to work out where we are."
