Chapter 16: Mark of the Monkey Part 1
The Signers and their allies went to their locations.
first were the twins who giving a ride to meet Devak. Leo noticed birds that were staring from old buildings. His sister noticed him gazing at the birds. "Hey Leo."
Leo jumped in fright." Whoa don't scare me like that Luna!"
"You scare me when you scream like that." Luna said. "I'm sorry it's just that those birds that are staring at us is creeping me out." Her Twin brother replied.
"Leo are you sure you're alright coming with me to watch my duel with Devak?" Luna asked. "I'm alright Luna." Leo answered. Leo then took out his duel disk. 'Why are you getting out your duel disk out?" Luna asked. "I'm just getting ready to take on Devak." Leo replied. "Leo I'm dueling him not you." Luna said sighing.
Trudge noticed this. "Heh heh not too bright, is he?
Luna then heard a cry which cause her to gasp. 'Hey Luna what's wrong?" Leo asked. "Did you hear a scream?" She asked her twin. "No I didn't hear anything." He replied. "I figured but that scream was powerful that I though you've would've heard it.
Hmm I think the scream was coming from the spirit world." Luna answered. "What is it Ancient Fairy Dragon?" Leo asked. Trudge was curious about this."Hey what's this Spirit world about?" He asked the twins. "Oh Luna can talk to Duel Monster Spirits from the Spirit World." Leo replied to the officer.
Trudge looked at them and laughed. "Hey what's so funny?" Leo asked. "Look kid that's just crazy." The officer laughed. "Arrgh I figured that you wouldn't believe us but that's not surprise cause you're a grown up." Leo spat.
Kuribon then showed up who started to jump up and down. Luna then realized something was amiss. "Something wrong in the Spirit World isn't there, in that case I'm on my way. She said as she disappeared as big bright light covered her.
The bright light caught Yusei, Shadow and Cosmo's attention. That's the same direction where Luna, Leo, and Trudge went." Shadow said. "It would seem so." Cosmo said. "We better see what it was." Yusei said. The three Duelists drove towards where the light appeared.
Leo then noticed Luna was gone. Trudge turned his head around. "Hey Trudge Luna is gone and I think that bright light took her." Leo said.
"Let me guess she went to the Spirit World." Trudge said. "That's right." Leo replied. "That's not possible kid." Trudge mocked. "Hey it's true." Leo spat.
'Look let's just look around." Trudge said as he got out of his car. "Hmph grown ups never listen." Leo groaned but he got out of the car as well.
Leo looked around but then came to the location where Devak is waiting. Leo approached the control tower. "Hey Dark Signer are you there?" He called out.
Then a voice rang out. "I've been waiting for you Signer."
Then the dark force field appeared. Trudge saw the dark force field and ran to see what was going on.
Devak approached the Signer expect it wasn't Luna it was Leo who wasn't a Signer. "Hey you're not that girl Luna."
"I'm not a Signer but I'll take you on."
Trudge arrived too late. "Is this some kind of joke where's that girl." Devak asked. "She's around but for now I'll take you for now." Leo replied activating his Duel Disk.
"Hmm very well then but I must warn you I'll show no mercy."
Let's duel! They proclaimed
Leo: 4000
Devak: 4000
"Leo don't be foolish!" Trudge called out. Then Yusei, Cosmo, and Shadow arrived. "Hey what you three doing here?" Trudge asked.
"We came here when we saw that bright light." Yusei answered. "Yeah so what's going on?" Cosmo asked. "Well you guys Luna disappeared to who knows where." The officer replied.
"She what?" Cosmo asked. "Wait that means she must to gone to the Spirit World." Yusei said. "Great that you're babbling about Spirit worlds and fairy tales." Trudge groaned. "Look it's true what Yusei said Luna must've gone to rescue Ancient Fairy Dragon." Shadow answered.
"Ancient what?" Trudge asked looking confused. 'Look right we got to stop this Duel." Yusei said. "Agreed." Shadow said.
"Hey Devak that kid isn't a Signer so you can't duel him." Cosmo called out. "I warned him and when a Shadow Duel begins it can't be stop not until someone wins that is." Devak replied.
"It's my move I draw." Leo exclaimed. "Hmm I summon Morphtronic Magnet in Defense!"
Morphtronic Magnet: Defense 800
"With this monster in defense you can't attack any other monster that has name Morphtronic."
"Last I'll place one face down and ending my turn." Leo said. "By placing my Morphtransition trap card face down I'll be able to negate any of Devak's monsters attacks. Also if I can summon another Morphtronic Magnet on my next turn I'll be able to create Magnet block to keep Devak's monster from attacking."
"Come on Leo stop this you got to find a way to get out of this Duel!" Yusei protested. "No way don't you get it if I defeat Devak then Luna won't have to Duel him." Leo answered. "Heh heh heh." Devak smirked.
"Look Yusei all we can do is hope that Leo can beat this guy." Trudge said. "Agreed." Shadow said.
Meanwhile Luna woke up in the Spirit World with Kuribon. "Oh hi Kuribon." She greeted. Then she saw the mountain which had her Dragon. "Oh it's Ancient Fairy Dragon that must mean she was the one calling out to me."
"It's my move boy and I draw." Devak exclaimed. He drew his card and smirked. "I summon Magician Ape in attack mode.
Magician Ape: Attack 800
"(Man I usually hat magical primates but since that Ape only has 800 attack points it's too weak to get past my Magnet just as long I don't have to worry about special abilities.") Leo thought.
"I activate my Magician Ape's ability by sending a card from my hand to the graveyard I can gain control one of your monsters." Devak said.
"Uh oh." Leo said. Magician Ape's staff released it's magic and took away Morphtronic Magnet. "Now Magician Ape attack Leo directly!" Devak commanded.
The Magician Ape fired it's magic at Leo. "Aaaah!" Leo screamed.
Leo: 3200
"Leo no!" Yusei said. Cosmo covered her face with her hands. "Not good." Trudge said.
"He lost 800 life points this isn't good." Shadow muttered. Luna and Kuribon heard the scream. "That must be Leo's scream wait that means he must be dueling Devak." She said. Kuribon can tell that Luna was getting worried.
"Now you realize the power of a Shadow Duel." Devak said. The gang sweated due their worrying about Leo.
"I end my turn." Devak said. "Good it's finally Leo's turn but I'm worried about him cause he doesn't look too good." Yusei said. "Agreed." Shadow said. "Yeah but I'm sure Leo will be okay." Trudge said. "I hope you're right Trudge." Cosmo said.
"Interesting your friends believe you can still handle more punishment." Devak said. "Well if it means keeping my sister safe then I'll keep on dueling." Leo answered. "I draw."
("Although if I summon a monster his Ape can take control one of my monsters but maybe I should let him do that.") He thought. "I summon Morphtronic Magnet Bar in defense mode!"
Morphtronic Magnet Bar: Defense 100
"Last I place another face down and ending my turn." Leo said
"Hmm it looks like you're going to fail." Devak said. (" No I'm not I promise Luna I'll keep you safe.") Leo thought.
Meanwhile Luna and Kuribon continued to walk through forest. "Now that I'm in the Duel Monster Spirit world I must keep my promise to Ancient Fairy Dragon.") Luna thought.
Flashback scene.
"Right now my servant Regulus struggles in deep within the Shadows but if you can find him and free him from his curse then you both can combined your powers to free me from my prison." Fairy Dragon explained.
"Alright now I must find this guy Regulus, then rescue Ancient Dragon, defeat the Dark Signers, and save the planet." Luna said.
She then came to a city. "Whoa maybe Regulus is there Kuribon."
She made it to the city. "This place is empty." She muttered. She then saw young Duel Spirits but they looked frightened that they ran away. "Hey I'm a friend so come back." Luna called out. The young Duel Spirits continued to run. ("Oh if we can't get those kids I'll never find Regulus.") Luna thought catching her breath.
Luna and Kuribon took a break. "This is weird why is everyone afraid of us." Luna muttered. Then Kuribon heard something. "What is it." She asked the female hairy monster. They came to some stairs and up came a Basketball which was bouncing up the stairs.
Luna caught it. "Okay that was weird."
Luna and Kuribon noticed some leaves were floating back onto a tree instead of falling off. "Looks like everything is going in reverse." The young Signer said. Suddenly a strong wind blew. "Hey you come with us the collecters are here!" The Duel Monster called out as he and a few Duel Spirits ran.
"What are you talking about?" Luna asked. She and Kuribon turned around and saw Darkness approaching them. "Kuribon let's go!"
Darkness then went away revealing strange looks monkeys. "Alright guys let's go turn more Duel Spirits into stone." The Leader said.
Luna and Kuribon hide a dark alley. "It's no wonder those other spirits are scared." Luna said. Then she noticed her cards were glowing.
"My cards are scared too but don't worry I'll protect you all." Luna said.
Then a Monkey solider found them causing Luna to gasp. Kuribon, Sunlight Unicorn, and Sunny Pixie ran off.
"Wait stop!" Luna called out. "Oh they'll stop." The monkey said as he took out his staff and releasing a magic that turned Luna's monster into stone. "Now get the girl." The monkey ordered his soldiers.
Luna ran off but then she came to a dead end. Then a rock started to move which she noticed and from under it was a young Magician.
Meanwhile back in the real world.
"Now I activate my Magician's ability again by sending card from my hand to graveyard I gain control of your Magnet bar."
"Uh oh." Cosmo said. "If Devak keeps this up then Leo won't be lucky." Trudge said. "Not quite." Yusei said.
"Alright now since you got my Magnet Bar you can't attack since it's in defense mode."
"That won't make a difference you see I'm sacrifice your Magnet Bar in order to summon Fighter Ape!" Devak proclaimed.
Fighter Ape: Attack 1900
"Now Fighter Ape attack Leo directly!" Devak commanded.
"Leo no!" Cosmo screamed. "Not so fast I play my trap Remake Puzzle by sacrificing a Morphtronic monster I can end your monsters attack but that's not all I can now summon another Morphtronic monster from my graveyard make up for the one I sacrificed and I choose my Morphtronic Magnet Bar."
"Heh heh all you was prolong your misery you think can win well you can't and when I'm through with you I'm coming after your sister." Devak said.
Back in the Spirit World.
The Monkeys look around for Luna but couldn't find her so they left. "Whew that was close so thank you." Luna said. "Your welcome but who are you anyway?" The magician asked. Luna was just about to answer when he went ahead talked first. "Hey I heard there was a little girl that was coming to save us spirits from an evil power." He said.
"Hey first of all I'm not a little girl and second what legend are you talking about cause I need to free my Dragon." Luna spat. "I assume you're talking about Ancient Fairy Dragon and Regulus is going to help." The magician answered. "Yeah but how did you know that?" Luna asked.
They hide a house. "What's your name?" Luna asked. "My name is Torunka." He replied. "Mine is Luna nice to meet you."
"Shh those monkeys will hear us." Torunka whispered. "Why is those monkeys turning everyone into stone.
"It's a mystery all we know is that those that were turned into stone gets taking to a castle. A few escaped but now we're trapped under the minus curse." Torunak explained.
"Will I be under this curse too?" Luna asked moving away. "Don't worry this curse only works on Duel Spirits but we're too weak to move on." Torunka answered. 'Okay but who started this?" Luna asked.
"It's a complete mystery all we know is that the shadows came." Torunka said.
flashback scene.
"We live in harmony, in decks we might fight but in this world we live in peace that is until the sky grew dark then some creature appeared and his army appeared and turned a lot of Duel Spirits into stone tablets by using some kind of weapons and that's where you come in." Torunka explained.
"I know I promised to save the Spirit World but I need to get back to my world to help my brother." Luna said. "The legend is clear you will save us including your Dragon." Torunka continued. "But I'm not really the legend type in fact my teachers barely even remember my name." Luna said.
"Well someone thinks your important or you wouldn't be a Signer." Torunka said. This got Luna attention. "Wait you know that okay where I can find this Regulus guy?" Luna asked.
"Well Regulus is the protector of all Duel Spirits but ever since Ancient Fairy Dragon was taking from us he's been acting strange it's possible that minus curse is turning his heart black and now he just roams the forest plus attacking anyone that comes near him." The young Magician explained.
"Look we need to find Regulus so we can save the Spirit World." Luna said. "What do you mean we what can I do with me trapped in this young body?" Torunka asked. "Argh fine I'll save the spirit world on my own then."
Luna ran out but Torunka followed. 'Glad you came along." Luna said. Then one of the monkey soldiers spotted them.
"Hey how do these staffs work?" Luna asked. "Flip the switch and things go backwards." Torunka explained. She did and then bottles that were one the street rolled towards the monkeys causing them to fall backwards.
After that Luna and Torunka came on top of a hill. "Great we lost the monkeys so can I take a break?" The young Magician asked. "Look we have a long way to go so we must go." Luna said. "I'm not taking another step." Torunka said turning his head away.
Luna sighed. "Here get on my back."
"Pardon?" Torunka asked. "Come on you heard me now get on." Luna said. Torunka got on her back. "What do you mean when you said you have to help your brother?" He asked.
"I have a twin and I was suppose go to a Shadow Duel but I think he took my place." Luna replied. "Oh I'm sure he's fine I can sense Dragons powers flowing through you and maybe that goes through your twin brother." Torunka said. "I'm sure if that works that way Leo always tries to protect me. Luna said.
"Still you have mark of the Crimson Dragon so are you the best at dueling?" The young Magician asked. Luna shook her head. "Leo's got the skills."
back at Leo's duel. "I draw."
"Finally I summon Morphtronic Celfon in attack mode." Leo proclaimed.
Morphtronic Celfon: attack 100
"Now it's time for me to dial up trouble you see since my Celfon is in attack mode he chooses a number between one and six whatever numbe he chooses I can draw that many cards and if I draw another Morphtronic monster I can summon it."
Celfon's choice was three. Leo drew his three cards. Alright I summon Morphtronic Remoten!" Leo proclaimed.
Morphtronic Remoten: Attack 300
"Next I activate the spell Level Mirroring now I match one my monsters level equal to one of your monsters level so I choose Magician Ape.
Morphtronic Remoten: Level 1-3
"Now I tune my Remoten with my Magnet Bar and Clefon to Synchro Summon my Power Tool Dragon."
Power Tool Dragon: Attack 2300
"Man that was impressive." Cosmo said. "Hmm indeed." Shadow agreed with his sister's statement. "That was great combo." Trudge said. ("It's a good start and I know it's going to get better.") Yusei thought smiling.
"Heh heh heh is that the best you can do if so then your future is bathed in shadows." Devak said.
"That's no Signer Dragon that's a toy you should've left in your play room and if your sister was here I'm sure she would give me a challenge." Devak mocked.
"Too bad you're not going to find out cause I'm about to take your world apart so I activate my Dragon's ability which transfers a equip spell from my deck to my hand." Leo said.
"I got Break Draw and equip it to my Power Tool Dragon since it is when my Dragon attacks and destroys one of your monsters I can draw another card.
"Now my Dragon attack Magician Ape!" leo commanded. The Dragon slammed it's shovel like hand into the ape destroyed it.
Devak: 2500
"How's that if you got something to say about my Deck then say it." Leo said looking confident. Devak just smiled. "What's matter Dragon got your tongue?" Leo mocked.
"Joke all you like but it's my turn and your Dragon is about to meet it's match." Devak replied.
Back at the Spirit World Luna continued to carry Torunka on her back. "You know I've been wondering what does this Zaman do the Spirits when he takes them to his castle." Luna said. "Well all I heard that spirits are lines in his castle with him." Torunka explained.
"Is he also on the Dark Signers side?" Luna asked. "Maybe if so then we must find Regulus in order to save this world and yours as well." Torunka replied.
Back at Zeman's castle.
"For thousands of years we've waited watching the Spirits spread over this world like a plague therefore it's our turn to rule now Ancient Fairy Dragon will do my bidding."Zaman said. He tried again to control her but nothing worked.
"Arggh blast it when Regulus still on the loose I can't absorb Ancient Fairy Dragon's power but it will only a matter of time before I catch him and add him to my collection." Zamen said.
"I sense some things are happening." Devak muttered. "What are you talking about?" Leo asked. "Heh you humans are so narrow minded I'm talking about not only this battle is happening in this world the battle is happening in the Spirit." Devak explained.
The gang gasped. "If I assume that's where your sister is?" Devak asked. "Leave Luna out of this and draw your card." Leo yelled.
"Oh I will I draw and now I summon Dark Ape in attack mode." Devak said.
Dark Ape: 0
"That Ape is powerless." Trudge said. "Not for long." Yusei. "Your friend Yusei is right you see I activate the spell Dark Wave which I can confer my Fighter Ape's level into negative energy.
Fighter Ape: Level 5-
"Now I Dark Tune my Dark Ape with Fighter Ape when the Shadows are devoured by even darker shadows the curtain pulls back and reveals a world with out light now come forth Zeman the Ape King!" Devak proclaimed. "Good luck using spells or traps cause my Ape King over wells their powers."
"Argh so what my Dragon's got enough power." Leo protested. "Hmm I have feeling that Devak is up to something else." Shadow said.
"Since I used my Dark Ape for a Dark Synchro Summon I can draw another card." Devak said drawing his card. when he looked at it he smirked. 'Now I activate the Field Spell Closed Forest."
"Oh no Devak has everything he needs to summon an Earthbound Immortal." Yusei exclaimed. "This is not good." Cosmo gasped.
back at the Spirit World Luna and Torunka came to the forest where Regulus lives. "I assume this where Regulus lives?" Luna asked.
"Yeah it was beautiful forest." Torunka replied sadly. "I guess it's because Zeman came turned everything reverse and transformed Duel Spirits into stone." Luna said. "It's worse than that like I said with the forest withering away and spirits being taken away King Regulus went mad." Torunka said.
"Hey King Regulus we need you!" Luna called out. Torunka started to panic. "Quiet he's mad not hard to hearing."
"I know what I'm doing after all I got a kitten at home." Luna said. "Here kitty kitty I have a nice treat for you!"
Suddenly a something jumped out of a bush that was behind Torunka.
Regulus appeared and he was growling at them.
Back in the real world.
"Now that Devak has a field spell in play he can summon an Earthbound Immortal." Yusei proclaimed. "Not that." Trudge said sweating. "I have a feeling it's going to get worse." Cosmo said.
"That your friend with the green hair is right you see Leo for every monster that's in my graveyard my Ape King an extra 100 attack points." Devak explained. Leo growled.
"Since I have five monsters my Ape gains 500 attack points."
Zeman the Ape King: Attack 3000
"I suppose a banana wouldn't solve this." Leo said.
Meanwhile Luna and Torunka were confronted by Regulus. "Hey Regulus we're friends so don't be scared." Luna said gently. "Argggh!" Regulus roared. Luna got startled from that. "Come on Lion this is the child that's suppose to rescue Ancient Fairy Dragon."
"What did you say?" The Lion asked. "It's true I can here to help you." Luna answered who was still shaking. Regulus then jumped towards them but they managed move away.
"He doesn't believe us." Torunka whispered. "I'm with the bad guys Ancient Fairy Dragon told me to find you to save the Spirit." Luna explained.
"Just as I thought well then if you want to fight me then come on." Regulus said growling. "Come on get real Luna's here to help you." Torunka spat.
Then Luna noticed something on Regulus' back left leg ankle. "Hey Torunka check out his back ankle."
"I see it that staff looks like the ones the monkeys use to make everything go in reverse." Torunka said. "Wait is it possible that Regulus hears the opposite of what we say?" Luna asked.
Torunka face palmed. "Of course I should've know that before this curse has made me stupid."
"Arggh the Spirit World will never be yours I'm going to stop you all." Regulus growled. Regulus chased them into the forest.
"I have idea maybe should say I opposite of what we mean." Torunka said as he stopped. "You're worst Lion of all time, you smell like wet rat, and my house cat can take you on!"
"Arggh do you seriously think that flattery will work on me?" Regulus asked. "Well it worked." Torunka said. "Yeah but he's still attacking us." Luna said nervously.
Then Regulus stopped growling. "Something is coming."
That something was Zeman's soldiers. "More monkey business?" Regulus asked. One of the Monkeys spoke. "We're taking you to Zeman.
"Not without a fight!" Regulus growled. Another Monkey prepared to use his Minus Staff.
Another one noticed that. "Hey what are you doing you fool Regulus already has Minus on his back ankle."
The monkey stopped. "Oh right if I used my staff on the one that's on Regulus it would destroy the Minus curse.
Regulus then jumped and ran off with the Monkey soldiers running after him.
"Did you hear what that monkey said, if we can get one of those minus Staffs we can free Regulus from his curse." Luna said. "So let's go then." Luna said.
"Hey wait up." Torunka said.
The leader told his soldiers to split up. They began to search for Regulus. The leader then saw Luna. "Nah nah nah catch me if you can!" Luna called out making a face.
"Hey you're that girl from before well you won't get away this time.' The leader said as he ran after Luna.
"Torunka now!" Luna said. "Right here it goes." He answered as he stuck a minus staff into a tree and flipping the switch.
The Leader went up the tree which cause him to lose his Minus Staff. "I got it Torunka!" Luna proclaimed. "Yes now let' go find Regulus." Torunka said.
Regulus was crossing a log that was above a river. After he crossed it noticed Luna and Torunka
Luna and Torunka then crossed the log. "Now say the opposite of what you say." Torunka said. "I'm one of the bad guys and I'm here to make that Ancient Fairy Dragon is trapped in Zeman's power forever."
"I'm not falling for your evil trickery." Regulus growled. It was working he was hearing opposite of what Luna was hearing." I'm one of the good guys Regulus and I'm here to help free Ancient Fairy Dragon from Zeman's power."
"Lies!" The Lion yelled as he jumped towards Luna and Torunka.
"Now use the Minus Staff on the one that's on Regulus back ankle!" Torunka said.
Luna then pointed out the staff towards Regulus.
