Chase grabbed a tequila bottle and a shot glass. He walked around the bar and sat on a stool. He raised up the bottle of tequila and looked up, "your favorite."
He poured himself a shot of tequila, "I never thought you'd be stupid enough to try killing yourself again. Do you know how much pain you've caused? Course you don't. You're never around to see the pain. You just walk out and leave everyone else to clean up the pieces for you.
Chase grabbed his phone and googled her name. After reading one paragraph, he drank the shot. As he continued reading, he poured another one. He drank it but he read one sentence that almost made him spit it out.
"Alex Dupre is survived by her four year old son, Tric Dupre, who was with Dupre's assistant when Dupre was found dead in her hotel room."
Chase was confused. He poured another shot of tequila, "Tric Dupre?"
He downed the shot. He googled Alex Dupre's son. His heart started beating faster and faster.
He looks up, "Is he mine? Is Tric my son? How can you not tell me something like this, Alex? That's- Now what, Alex? What happens to Tric? What am I supposed to do?"
Julian walks in and finds Chase talking to himself, "who're you talking to?"
Chase looks at Julian and looks up, "nobody."
Julian sees the bottle of tequila, "that was her poison."
Chase shakes his head, "no, apparently it was pills."
Julian sat down next to Chase at the bar, "she was broken, Chase. There was too much pain inside of her. She couldn't deal with all of it. The tequila, the drugs, the partying, the sex, all of that was her trying to mask her pain but in the quiet, in the loneliness, the pain eats her alive."
"She had a son. Did you know that?"
Julian surprised, "Alex had a son?"
"Tric Dupre." Chase spread his arms wide open and said, "Tric."
Julian curiously asked, "so he's your son?"
"I don't know, he's four. She's been gone for five years. She could've just liked the name of the bar. Her first show was here. I don't know."
"She could've named him after the place where his parents fell in love," said Julian.
