Sorry this took so long guys, I had actually written this chapter before but somehow my computer deleted it and I was so mad about it that I just needed to take a break. Sorry for the inconvenience, and don't worry I have the whole ending mapped out. I always had.

Haru had never seen Makoto move faster than he did when he got the call from Rei. Makoto had been over at his house when Rei had called, they always hung out together especially during the holidays. At first Haru had thought that one of Makoto's relatives had died base off how pale the other male turned. However, when Haru learned what the call was about he wished that it had just been a relative who died.

They were at the hospital in five minutes flat. They got yelled at for running through the hall but even Makoto didn't care at this point. They both just wanted to know if Nagisa was okay.

Soon Nagisa's hospital door flung open, Rei jumped slightly. He relaxed a bit when he saw Makoto and Haru in the door way and not some doctor rushing his with bad news.

Nagisa at this point was sleeping, the doctors had him on some medicine to help bring down the fever, which was their main concern at this point. Apparently it had been some pretty strong medicine because Nagisa didn't even stir at all the commotion. Rei couldn't decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"Rei, How's Nagisa?" Makoto asked looking concerned as he panted trying to catch his breath.

Haru simply looked on in concern.

"Well, he's sleeping now and the doctor has given him something to help him but other than that no one really knows." Rei said trying not to think about how hopeless this situation was.

Makoto looked like he was about to cry, the brunet had always been sensitive, but it was even more prevalent now that one of his best friends was laying on a hospital bed and no one knew how to help him.

"How did this happen?" Haru asked, since Makoto was too emotionally compromised to ask it himself.

Rei debated about whether he should or shouldn't tell the secret that Nagisa had tried so hide for so many years. However, at this point the cat was out of the bag so Rei had no choice but to tell them. Rei told them everything that Nagisa had told him, every word that left Rei's lips made Makoto look even more said than he had before.

After Rei had finished telling Haru and Makoto everything that he knew concerning Nagisa's illness the whole room felt silent. Rei was sure that they were simply at a loss for words.

"Wh-why wouldn't he tell us?" Makoto asked obviously trying to keep a hold of his emotions.

"He just didn't want you guys to worry." Rei simply stated.

Makoto opened his mouth to say something but closed it, lips shut tight. Tears suddenly sprang to his green eyes. Haru convinced Makoto to leave the room giving Rei a look that told him that they just needed a little time.

Rei almost wished that they hadn't left the room because now all Rei had was silence while he sat next to Nagisa. The only thing Rei could hear was the beeping of the heart monitor which should have brought some comfort to him but he just listened to it begging it to never stop.

After a few minutes Rei began to get worried, he moved to get up when he heard a small voice call to him. His heart started to pound when his brain deciphered what that noise was. It was Nagisa.

"Rei." Nagisa said his voice barely above a whisper.

The relief that flooded through Rei's body was amazing, he was so glad he was sitting because his legs would have given out underneath him.

"Nagisa, I'm so glad your awake." Rei said with a bright smile on his face, "Wait a minute I'll go get Makoto and Haru they'll be so glad that you're awake."

Rei again got up to leave.

"Wait." Nagisa said quietly.

Rei froze, he felt like ice was running through his veins. Why did he have a bad feeling about this?

"What?" Rei asked, "What is it?"

Nagisa looked into Rei's eyes, he smiled softly. It almost made Rei's heart hurt to see Nagisa look at him like that.

"Rei, I just want you to know that none of this was your fault." Nagisa said after taking a deep breath.

Rei felt his heart drop, why was Nagisa talking like this? Nagisa slowly moved his hand to grab Rei's, to which Rei met him half way. Nagisa's hand felt so cold, which was strange because wasn't he supposed to be suffering from a fever?

"What do you mean?" Rei asked his voice cracking a bit.

Nagisa just simply smiled tiredly at him.

"I love you , Rei." Nagisa said before Rei watched the life slowly disappear from his magenta eyes.

Rei felt all of the breath leave his body, his hand gripped Nagisa's limp one tightly almost like he was trying to cling on to Nagisa, like that might bring him back. He stared at Nagisa's lifeless body he felt his mouth say something but he couldn't hear what he had said and soon tears filled his vision. This couldn't be happening, this couldn't be how it ends.

"Nagisa." Rei choked out, burying his face into the other boy's chest.

"Rei, it's time to wake up." A voice said

"I wish I could." Rei said through tears.

But he did.

Apparently Rei hand fallen asleep sitting next to Nagisa. Makoto and Haru were now in the room, Makoto standing over him.

"Rei are you okay? You seemed to be having a nightmare?" Makoto asked with concern.

Rei's head whipped around to look at Nagisa, to his relief he could see his chest moving up and down and he could hear the heart monitor beep steadly.

"yeah, it's fine." Rei said eyes not leaving Nagisa, "It was just a dream."

Thank god it was just a dream.
