Adisa could feel her chest tightening and for a brief moment she thought she was going to faint. She wasn't entirely sure, but her four bride's maids (that had been chosen for her only one being her sister) were rushed out of the room. Frigga understood what Adisa was going through having similar feelings when she married her husband, but she was sure it was worse for the girl.
She was being over stimulated, and she had really no idea what was really going on. So as the mother of the groom it was her job to get Adisa down the aisle without combusting into tears. Frigga closed the door behind her tightly, and for a brief moment she admired Adisa.
They had tried to make a dress for Adisa that would be easy for her to walk in. So the front part of her dress barely skimmed the floor where as the rest flowed a few feet behind her. Her shoulders and upper chest of her dress were covered in thin, see through glittering white fabric, while the rest of her dress was an ivory white, with different clusters of the same glittering diamonds she had on her chest.
Her hair was pulled up with large swooping ringlets a few of which ran down her back. Later during the night, a small silver tiara would be placed on her head, which she would be required to wear at formal parties for the rest of her life. Frigga herself had three crowns that she had accumulated over the years. Two were a gift from her husband, and the first a gift from his father. Adisa would be gifted her first crown from Odin, and any more she would accumulate in her life would be from Loki or other family.
She didn't know it yet, but today would be one of the longest in her life. She had to marry Loki, then she had to be crowned a royal member of the family. There was NO time for breaking down into tears. Today was going to be one of the most talked about days in her life, and she didn't want to be remembered for a mental break down.
"Come here." Frigga said, gently bundling Adisa up in a hug. She was careful not to disturb anything on the girl; they didn't have time to fix anything. She would be expected to walk down the aisle in a few moments. Adisa slowly started to wind down, as the queen gently stroked the side of her face with her fingers. She use to do the same thing to her children when they were little, and it somehow seemed to unwind them. It was clear by the way Adisa stiffened that she was not use to kind hands, and Frigga pushed the thought to the back of her mind. It was something that she would have to work on.
"Loki might not look like it, but he is just as worried as you are. Just remember that we are here for you, and it is much as your day as it is his." Adisa carefully nodded her head not really sure how she felt, she was completely stumped when the queen pulled away and sang "I'm very happy to have you as a daughter."
Frigga knew the words meant a lot to Adisa, because she couldn't think of a response. Instead she just nodded her head and stood up, her face filled with an indistinguishable emotion and she silently used her hands to smooth out her dress. Frigga smiled gently using a hand to straighten out only one imperfection she saw in the dress before guiding Adisa's hand to her elbow where she would help her walk to her father.
Loki had always thought the phrase 'taking your breath away' was a stupid one. He could never imagine a moment where it was possible to be rendered breathless, but when he finally laid eyes on Adisa he knew the phrase was very much possible. If there was a better word then stunning he would have easily used it to describe her at that moment.
Never before had Adisa looked so beautiful. It was proof to Loki that if her parents took more pride in her appearance that someone else would have snatched her away a long time ago, because even if Adisa didn't know it, she was a more stunning woman then her sister. So he had made himself promise the moment she was his, that she would never be dressed in any clothing that didn't polish her beauty.
It was hard for him to wait, he wanted her beside him so badly and he wanted to steal her away. It was an amazing feeling for him to recite his vows but to watch the long boring process of her being crowned a new royal killed him. He should have been proud, but he was also very selfish, and wanted to moment to be over quickly.
Adisa was crowned by Odin with a silver tiara that perfectly fit her head. The crown was small, but it was elegantly decorated with feathers and roses which you could only see if you were close enough. So from a distance it looked like any regular old tiara.
Later that night Adisa would be told that the crown was Odin's mother. She had written in her will that her first granddaughter be given the crown and although he had no daughters he accepted Adisa as his own. She had single handily started a change in Loki, and even if Loki was still not the man that Odin hoped him to be. He could see how Adisa continued to help Loki grow into a better person.
She had managed to bring a calm to their family that hadn't been there for a very long time and he hoped that in a few years that a grandchild would be born. A grandchild would make him very happy. He missed the joy small children brought.
The day ticked by very slowly for everyone and after a long day they were finally able to celebrate. Adisa of course danced with everyone in the family, and although she was bad, it was very cute to watch her laugh. Odin was very happy to have a dance with her, before finding his wife.
Loki was very happy to have his wife back and snuck into her arms before any other man could decide they wanted to dance with her. It was late into the night and most people were beyond drunk. He gently twirled her around, ignoring her confused face as she slowly figured out who he was. He was sure he heard her mutter his name under her breath in realization.
"Have I told you, that you look beautiful yet?" he asked, he knew very well that he had told her a few times now. But he couldn't stop himself from telling her. She was radiant, so much in fact that her sister could hardly look at her. That made Loki very happy, that the blind sister was indeed more beautiful.
"I think that's the fifteenth time you have told me tonight." She tiredly responded, moving her hand down his shoulder. She was tired, and the dancing was starting to make her dizzy. She had no idea where she was facing, and although Loki would help correct her, the feeling made her uncomfortable.
Loki slowed their dance to a stop. No one would care if they slipped away for a few moments at this point, because his drunken brother was too busy yelling out a story in the corner of the room. Gently taking her elbow he guided her to the hallway where they would sneak away to their garden.
"Seventeen actually." Loki smirked; Adisa gave him a small chuckle fully believing that he had told her that many times. His complements were starting to get lost in the many conversations she had that day, and the many men that had told her how amazing she looked. She honestly only really believed Loki's words, because he was the only person who had taken any interest in her. The rest were snakes in the grass.
From the moment she stepped into the garden she knew where she was. She eagerly walked forward, pulling Loki's hand out from under her elbow. He expected her to do so, she wasn't even fully aware that she did these things.
"We haven't been here in a long time." She smiled making her way to their spot. She was almost too excited to sit down in the grass, being more careful then usual to make sure her dress wasn't stained by the ground. She was unaware that Loki had already casted a spell to make sure her dress wouldn't be ruined.
When she settled she reached out a hand to invite Loki beside her. Loki took her up on her offer, keeping her hand tightly clutched in his as he sat down beside her. Adisa shifted her weight, turning herself so she could hear Loki and for anyone who may come creeping into the garden.
They sat in silence for a few moments both very happy that finally after so many weeks apart that they were able to enjoy time together. Loki would have spent the entire night in the garden with Adisa and wouldn't have cared, but Adisa was slowly starting to worry what people would think if they disappeared for too long. The garden brought some calm to her nerves, but she honestly couldn't wait for the day to be over.
"What colour is the sky." She asked, it was a strange question but she often asked him this question. He wasn't entirely sure why she wanted to know what colour the sky was, but he thought that maybe it had something to do with the colours she dreamed. Maybe even what time of the day it was.
"What does it matter, when I'm not looking at the sky?" he casually chimed, leaning back into the grass. He didn't know what colour the sky was at that particular moment, he hadn't paid much attention. Adisa was flooding his thoughts all day, and he didn't care to look at much else.
Adisa tilted her head in confusion, and Loki almost laughed. He figured she wouldn't catch on to his quick witted joke simply because she could not check his body language. She was about to ask him what he was looking at when he gently ran a hand across her jaw. Her cheeks quickly flared up, finally understanding what he was talking about.
"Honestly, Loki." She tried to sound irritated, but they both knew how much the words meant to her. Loki chuckled, he loved that he could tease her. Most people were offended by his jokes, not entirely sure how to take him or they were unsure if they were jokes.
He remembered how once as a young tween he pulled a joke on an older man who had little wit or humor. He grabbed Loki by the scruff of his shirt and lifted him off the ground. His face pure red with rage, he was about to shake the life out of the prince before his mother came around the corner. She didn't say anything to the man, but just gave him a soft glare as if she were testing him.
The man shook with rage and slowly put Loki back on the ground before muttering out an apology to the Queen. He quickly disappeared around the corner, and they never saw from him again. At a young age Loki had learned who he could pull tricks on and who he couldn't very quickly. Then once he had mastered magic, he didn't care who he tricked because he always got away with it.
There was only two people he could never willingly prank. That would be his Mother and Adisa, they both meant so much to them that he couldn't bare to do what he did with normal people. Some times it still bothered him that Adisa was the one who he dumped a bucket of piss on. Loki was sure she knew it was him that did it, but he never dared to ask her. Loki still teased both women in his life, or sometimes said a blunt comment from rage that built up in his stomach.
He always felt guilty after getting frustrated with the two, and always came slinking back like a cat. He couldn't muster up the words to say he was sorry, but both women knew very well that Loki's mind was often confused.
"If only you knew how beautiful you are Adisa." He muttered, finally laying down in the grass. Adisa grew increasingly uncomfortable knowing where this conversation was going. She already had the conversation with his mother, and she didn't want to have it again.
"Loki, that doesn't ma…" He hated when she talked like this, of course it mattered. Everyone cared about how they looked, and if they didn't they would take care of themselves as well as she did. Her hair was always neatly braided, and she would often fiddle with her clothing to hide the holes she knew was there. She always, ALWAYS ate carefully to make sure she didn't spill food onto her clothing. She ate so slowly that he was often waiting around for her to finish.
"It matters, and you know it matters. Just know that you were more beautiful than your sister, and she gave you jealous glances all day." Loki closed his eyes enjoying the silence; they couldn't be out here much longer so he wanted to soak it in as much as he could before they returned.
"Really?" Loki could hear the chuckle in her voice. She tried to hide the large smile that was etching its way across her face. She didn't want to believe it, but the very idea of her sister being jealous of her brought her a little joy.
She had lived in her shadow for so long that it was nice for once in her life that she was better than her sister. Adisa knew the road ahead would be much different and as much as she tried to not let it bother her, she knew from now on it was she who would shine brighter.
Loki was would take care of her, and he took care of his belongings. She would be well cared for, and as long as he was around she would never have to worry. He watched her skin glow from joy, and if he had a choice he would watched her all night but it was time to return to their party.
Standing up, Loki brushed his pants getting rid of the small wrinkles that would have accumulated from there activity. When he was finished tending to himself, he bent down to grab Adisa's hands and helped pull her from the ground. She was heavier than normal and it took the combined strength of both of them to successfully pull her from the ground.
She would have walked away from him, if it wasn't for his strong grasp on her elbow. She wasn't quite sure what he was doing so she stood still as he fixed small imperfections on her dress. She didn't dare move an inch, fully trusting him to guide her where she needed to be. When he was finished, his grip changed and he guided her back to the party.
