A/N: Finally! Finally, at last, SilverShark Fang is back to live! Well, I believe my lil' bro is competent enough not to make a mistake with a simple author note. Anyway, so sorry for the long wait. I hadn't expected my score to have a break down so fantasticaly over the course of two months! Thinking back, it was probably relly my fault. Sigh..

Anyway, six reviews? Really? *Sobs* But still, better than nothing, I guess. Thanks everyone! This chapter is a bit smaller and shorter than the previous one's but it was nice enough to me as I decided to split Leo's battle in half just like Danny's.

And Matt, that's really mean. (-_-") *unimpressed stare*

Chapter 8

This... is beyond the realm of ridiculousness.

Danny had to supress another strange combination of a groan and a strangled scream of frustration from coming out as he watched Leo and Roark, the latter of whom was a legal adult with a sensible mind, trying to trash talk each other. Now, it wouldn't be so bad if their attempt was good. The only problem was that it wasn't.

It was fair to say that they both suck at it. And it was already putting it mildly.

Finally, the halfa had had enough of both of their shenanigans and decided to put a stop to it by using a loud enough voice to break half the windows in the building. With a rather liberal and slightly illegal use of his ghostly powers, Danny enhanced his voice using a mild Ghostly Wail and shouted at the two of them. "WILL YOU TWO MORONS SHUT UP AND GET IT GOING!?"

Danny smiled as the two stopped their pathetic attempts at thrash talks to gawk at him with open amazement. Roark recovered first and nodded his head dumbly before taking his first Pokeball from his belt and threw it into the air where it opened and released the gigantic body of Onix, who released a roar of pent up battle-lust.

Leo snapped out of his funk as Onix appeared and pulled out his Pokeball as well, throwing it out into the air where it released Grovyle in a flash of white light. Grovyle stood in his original battle stance, legs spread wide with his knees slightly bend in preparation for a quick movement and his hands poised to strike in the traditional boxing guard style.

A tense silence settled over the arena like an invisible blanket as Grovyle's golden eyes stared at Onix's dark eyes, searching for weakness that he could use. Onix let out a challenging huff, his body shaking slightly in excitement for the battle to come.

"The battle between Gym Leader Roark of Oreburg City against Challenger Leo of.. where were you from again?" He asked, causing Roark and Onix to face plant at himm large sweatdrops trailing down the back of their heads.

"Lavaridge Town! The one with the hot springs!" Leo informed cheerfully, significantly proud of his hometown's tourist spot. Grovyle himself nodded at his proud declaration, an appreciative groan rolling off his throat as he recalled the relaxing experience bathing in the natural hot springs.

"Right." Danny nodded. "The battle between Gym Leader Roark of Oreburg City against Challenger Leo of Lavaridge Town-" He raised the differently colored flags in both of his hands before bringing them down on a powerful swing. "-BEGIN!"

"Onix, start things off with Rock Throw!" Roark quickly ordered.

Onix roared an affirmative at the order before his tail sweeped over the arena, searching for a sizeable stone to throw. It should be noted that Onix and Geodude has a vast difference in size, thus sizeable in Onix's book meant boulders in Geodude's. Upon discovering a large enough boulder, his tails quickly qurled itself and picked the large slab of stone up into the air before hurling it at the Wood Gecko.

"Destroy it with Energy Ball!" Grovyle nodded an affirmative at his trainer's command before gathering and compressing the signature green energy of Grass-type power in his hands. He wasn't quick enough as the boulder slammed the ground in front of him as it landed, forcing him to jump back to avoid getting crushed before shooting the energy ball in his hands, instantly reducing it to rubbles.

"Use Agility and cut him up with Leaf Blade!" Grovyle merely gave a nod to show that he heard the command before a pink aura glowed from his body. The leaves inhis hands straightened before curving back, hardening and sharpening itself until it became noting more than green scythes. Tensing the muscles in his legs, Grovyle threw himself forward in a combination of a dash and a leap, appearing as nothing but a green blur as he ran around the field.

"Onix, Harden and Iron Tail. Get ready to block his attack!" Roark ordered, earning a roar of anticipation from the large rock serpent as his body glinted in the light, hardening itself to increase its defense. Onix raised his tail and let it glow the steely grey of Iron Tail, ready to bat away the incoming attack from the Grass-type.

It wasn't a second later that Grovyle appeared, twisting in the air as he aimed his blades at Onix's neck. With a loud snort, Onix had his glowing tail block the super effective move. Iron Tail and Leaf Blade clashed in mid-air, sparks appearing as both moves grinded against one another.

"How the heck did he stay in mid-air for so long?" Danny wondered aloud, eyeing the still airborn Grovyle as he miraculously ignored the pull of gravity for more than thirty seconds as if it were never there.

"It's the Battle Logic, Danny!" Leo reminded from his spot, a grin in place. "Everything can happen in a battle!"

"That doesn't even sound logical!" Danny called back.

At last, Grovyle pushed the gigantic Iron Tail back and leaped away, landing on the ground several feet back before blurring once more in a show of speed. Onix only have a second to register the fact that his opponent was gone before he was forced on the defensive, blocking lightning fast random slashes from reaching his body.

"Grovyle! Grovyle!" Leo cheered, producing a pair of colorful pom-poms which he used to dance some form of butchered indian dance. Where he got those props Danny had not the faintest idea.

He decided to ignore the insanity that was Leo to focus on the match.

Grovyle leaped to the ceiling from his latest match against Onix's Iron Tail. Like a trained ninja, Grovyle twisted in mid-air, positioning his feet to absorb the impact against the ceiling before throwing himself down for another clash. With a loud resounding Clang, Leaf Blade once again clashed with Iron Tail. Both Pokemon gritted their teeth as they tried to push and overpower the other. Suddenly, in a show of quick movement and flexibility, Grovyle threw aside Onix's tail and used it as a stepping stone to propell himself towards the giant rock serpent's body.

With a sound that could loosely described as crunching, the Leaf Blades dug a large slash wound across Onix's body until Grovyle was forced to fall back as Onix started to thrash wildly.

"Nice job, buddy! Kick that hard stony butt!" Leo whooped, cheering enthusiastically for his starter. "Take aim, Bullet Seed! Fire!" He shouted, posing like hitler on his personal military tank as he pointed at some secret settlement waiting to be destroyed.

Grovyle crouched down to the ground, kneeling on all fours as he opened his mouth and fired a salvo of bullets. Onix, still writhing and trashing from his latest wound was sent reeling as the bullets struck him in the face. A groan that sounded more like a pained roar erupted from the giant rock serpent before he toppled backwards, kicking up a veritable cloud of dust and debris.

"Good aim, Men!" He said, adopting a deeper tone of voice as if he was a general on war.

Danny felt the corner of his mouth twitch upwards into an amused smile as he watched Leo, who was now sporting a camo suit and hat, exchanging salutes with Grovyle whose uninterested look remains unchanged throughout the little episode.

Onix slowly raised itself back up, groaning in pain as he shook the cobwebs of pain induced haze from his mind. Once done, the massive Rock-type let loose a roar before charging downwards and into the ground. Soon, Onix was gone, the only sign that he was ever there was the large hole in the ground.

"Dammit, Grovyle! He used Dig!" Leo growled, eyeing the hole with not so hidden annoyance, wishing the earth would suddenly close in on itself and bury the giant snake alive. Oh, wait. It won't work, they live there to begin with. Tsk, stupid boulders. "Focus and feel the tremor, buddy! Don't let him get you from below."

Grovyle nodded silently, closing his eyes as he focused to feel the faint tremors that the giant snake made as he moved underground. Sure enough, a faint vibration rocked the ground, he was sure that unless someone truly focused to feel it, no one will ever found it. With a silent cry of alarm, Grovyle leaped away just as Onix burst out from the ground in a manner not unlike a sea monster.

Just as quickly as he appeaared, Onix buried himself back underground but not before adding a single strong whip from his tail which, miraculously, managed to slap Grovyle away as he attempted a follow-up attack.

Grovyle was forced to jump away not a second later as Onix once again burst upwards for another attack. This time, Onix brought a different game.

Gyro Ball.

Grovyle quickly put a brake on his feet and barely managed to jump away to the side to dodge the destructive sphere of metallic energy. Even then, he was still caught in the resulting explosion.

Cracks and fissures suddenly appeared on the ground, creating a web of shattered earth before bursting outwards in a shower of dust and debris. Onix tail emergedfrom the hole, whipping around like a rampaging Seviper before grabbing Grovyle and choked him in a traditional Bind.

"Ya got him, Onix!" Roark cheered for his Pokemon. "Squeeze him and make him extra crispy, Flamethrower!" The Gym leader ordered.

Onix had his tail coiling harder and tighter around the Grass-type starter, causing the usually taciturn Pokemon to grunt and squeeze his eyes in pain. Onix opened his large maw, a red fiery glow burning deep within it as tongues of fire would erupt around the rim of his mouth, showing the Flamethrower in preparation was about ready to be launched.

"Grovyle!" Leo called out, earning the lizard's focus even as he cringed from the hard coils around him. "Charge a Solar Beam." Grovyle managed a weak, pained nod before the grass plume atop his head glow and intense white, absorbing all the solar energy present in the room. Grovyle opened his mouth, showing the glow of the Solar Beam's energy.

"FIRE!" Roark and Leo called out together.

A pillar of fire exploded out of Onix's mouth, quickly turning into a blazing conflagration of fire as it exploded outwards, racing through the air towards the bound and immobile target. And then-

It parted.

A thin, linear white beam of compressed energy blasted froward from Grovyle, slicing through the speeding inferno in half as though it was nothing more than an inconvenience. Finally, after slicing the incoming pillar of burning inferno in half the beam struck its mark, hitting Onix right in the face before exploding in a burst of black smoke.

The constricting binds of the rock serpent's tail lessened until it turned complitely limp, allowing Grovyle to pry himself off of the coils and jump away, finally free. Both trainer and Pokemon stared at the settling smoke, tense and apprehensive as they looked for any signs of movement. Whent the last of the dust, smoke and debris finally settled down, they came to the sight of Onix lying down on the ground, completely unconscious.

"Winner, Leo and Grovyle!" Danny raised the flag in his left side as he declared loudly.

Roark smiled ruefully at his Pokeball as it opened with a mechanical beep and absorbed the unconscious Onix in a flash of red light. Muttering some compliments under his breath, Roark pulled out his second Pokeball from his belt, throwing it into the air where it released Geodude in a flash of with light.

Leo, surprisingly, chose to switch his Pokemon. Pulling back Grovyle from the field and back into his Pokeball, Leo fished out another one and threw it into the air, releasing the fluffy form of Sentret. The Scout bounced around on her tail before standing up right and totally balanced on her furry behind appendage, proudly showcasing her spesies' trademark ready-for-violence stance.

And she was grinning like the devil. That's definitely Bad Omen.

Oh boy... Danny groaned to himself. Somebody's gonna burn. Somebody short and made out of rock with only two arms. Danny cast a meaningful look at Geodude, sending him his best mourning look causing the Pokemon to sweatdrop at him.

Danny raised both flags, signalling for both trainer to be ready for the second round before bringing it down with a loud cry of "Begin!"

"Alright, Sentret start things up with Iron Tail!"

"Harden and prepare to block!" Roark ordered, ready to counter the Steel-type move.

Instead, what came out was Hidden Power. Sentret opened her mouth and released a pulse of concentrated Normal-type energy, catching the rock type by surprise and caused him to get hit with the attack. While Harden managed to block some of the damage, the concusive force of the blast and the explosion was enough to harm him.

"Hey! What's the big idea? I said Iron Tail! I-RON-TA-IL!" Leo asked, feeling a weird mixture of annoyance and happiness. Annoyance that Sentret ignored his command and happiness that the attack hit Geodude square on the face.

::Meh. I'll do it my style. Don't get your panties in a twist, I'll get the job done~:: She said, waving a dismissive paw at him before going off to the distance, ready to ive the geodude a good pounding. Preferably with lots of explosions and raging fire. ::Come at me short stuff!:: She called out energetically, eager for a chance to set some boom.

"She said she'll do it her style." Danny informed dutifully as he saw the lost look on the younger redhead's face. "I think she doesn't want to listen to you." He deduced.

"Thank you translator." He said sending him a half-hearted thumbs up. "So.. what do I do?" He asked, a questioning look in his face.

"Well, unless you can get her to start listen to you, then you got nothing to do but wait until she finishes." Danny answered. And so, without anything to do to make the feisty pyromaniac Sentret to listen to him, Leo settled himself to a boring time of watching on the sidelines.

Untroubled by the lack of command and instruction from her Trainer, Sentret marched off to the annoyed Geodude. For something that obviously wasn't build for speed, the little spitfire was going quite fast with the enhancement of Quick Attack. Quick as lightning, she twisted around just moments before reaching Geodude and aimed a well-timed Iron Tail at the Rock-type.

This time Geodude was ready and blocked the offending appendage with his arm, a quick application of Harden effectively neutralized most of the damaged the super effective move might do to him. The Rock-type cocked a glowing fist and delivered a powerful right hook to Sentret, sending her back a few ways away from him and giving him some very much needed breathing room.

"Rollout Geodude!" Roark ordered.

Nodding at the order, Geodude tucked both his arms securely before rolling his whole body in place. WIth a screeching sound not out of place on a flat tire, Geodude zoomed off towards Sentret, intent on running her over. Unfortunately for him, Sentret snapped out of her stun and jumped away before he could run her over.

"Don't let her escape!" Roark called out, earning an acknowledging grunt out of the rolling Geodude.

"Use your own Rollout!" Leo called out, hoping that the rebellious Sentret would listen.

Sometimes, however, reality is a crueal and bitter thing with a twisted sense of humor. So naturally, instead of listening to her trainer, Sentret decided to take a page from one of her books regarding explosions as a way to solve all problems. She jumped over the rolling geodude and fired another pulse of Hidden Power, sending the rolling boulder careening towards the wall where it crashed.

"Great, another property damage." Roark grumbled as he eyed the crack in the wall. "My budget's going down to hell.." He mourned.

::Ha-ha! The rock brain's stuck on the wall~:: She mocked with a sing sang tone, happily dancing in the distance as she waved her tail mockingly on the Geodude.

::Why you little-:: Before Geodude could finish cursing the Sentret, Roark has issued another order and with a nod, the Geodude proceeded to punch the ground. ::MAGNITUDE!:: He roared.

Perhaps, the move was fueled by his pent up aggression against the annoying Sentret, or maybe it was just luck. Either way, the resulting earthquake made by the devastating Ground-type move has enough power to shake the entire building and the surrounding structures. Sentret being the closest to the souce of the quake found herself tumbling and rolling around, unable to find the point of equilibrium on her balance.

As the violent shake slowly deceased, Geodude once again rolled himself to a ball and performed another Rollout. This time though, Sentret was unable to dodge and thus was successfuly ran over by Geodude.

One wasn't enough. Apparently that saying applied now as Geodude quickly braked himself, the sound of screching tire once again echoing around the arena as he swerved and turned back to the direction he came from and this time, he crashed himself with Sentret, sending the Normal-type away and into a boulder.

::Haha! Who's stuck on a rock now, Furball?:: He jabbed, taking a lot of vindictive glee at seeing the Sentret peel of the boulder's surface like an old worn down wallpaper.

With a comical pop, Sentret returned to its former fluffy ball-like shape and shakily stood back on her feet. She turned and aimed an angry glare at the Geodude who smirked and gave the come-and-get-me motion. ::Oo~ There's gonna be a funeral!:: She growled. Her cute look however, made it rather innefective to intimidate other.

::Aww. How cute!:: Geodude laughed at her feeble attempt at intimidation. ::No wonder Sentret's can't use Scary Face.:: He said.

With a growl of indignation and wounded pride, Sentret lauched herself at Geodude, enhancing her speed with Quick Attack to get her faster to her destination.

Geodude prepared himself to deliver a brick break and Smack Down combo when suddenly Sentret rounded to the side and delivered a mean Sucker Punch and twisted to reintroduce her Iron Tail with him, sending him several feet away.

Using his hands to stop his movement, Geodude managed to save himself from another collision with the wall, earning a relieved sigh out of his Trainer.

"Alright, Geodude let's take it up a notch and use Stone Edge!" Roark ordered, a smirk on his face.

Geodude responded with an acknowledging cry before slamming both of his hands to the ground where it created a crack. The crack grews and spread around the ground, creating fissures as it quickly moved to Sentret's postion before erupting upwards as though it was a geyser into shards of sharp tipped rocks.

Sentret rolled out of the eruption of sharp tipped rocks, scratched and wounded on various parts of her body.

"Defense Curl. Huh, that's neat." Danny noted. "At least, she wasn't a pin cushion." Danny joked half heartedly as he eyed the sharp pikes of rocks jutting out of the ground with a wary look.

"Sentret! C'mon, you fluffy pyromaniac! We can totally beat him if you let me help!" Leo called out.

::Pssh! I told you ginger bread, I can do this myself.:: She said, grunting at the pain her wounds caused.

"She called you ginger bread." Danny informed.

"Was that good?" Leo asked.

"Eh, I've heard worse." Danny shrugged nonchalantly. "At least it was original. Right, Ginger?" Danny joked with a grin.

Sentret tuned the idle chat out and focused back on the smug face of her foe. With another Quick Attack, the Normal-type Pokemon dashed quickly across the arena, ready to send another Sucker Punch at him if just to erase that annoying smug amirk from his face.

Geodude wasn't about to let that happen and once again slammed his hands down to the ground, causing another line of cracks and fissures to appear as it travelled towards the charging Sentret. Stone Edge exploded outwards in a burst of upturned sharp rocks and gravell as it tried to catch and possibly impale the running Normal-type in one of its pointy ends. Through it all, Geodude was laughing.

Danny was, once again, reminded of Bugs Bunny as he watched the charging Sentret halted her charge and turned tail and ran the heck away from the chasing lines of death. It was comical, in a morbid bloody kind of way.

"Rock Throw, Geodude! Hit 'em hard!"

Geodude wasted no time to grab the nearest rock to him, which happens to be a boulder. He blinked, and then grinned. With a grunt of effort, the small Rock-type lifted the whole thing up and threw it away to the distance with roar of exertion.

BOOM!

"Nailed it!" Roark grinned and fist-bumped with Geodude.

"Winner, Gym Leader Roark and Geodude!" Danny declared as he raised the right flag up.

Leo sighed and went to the boulder to pick up the unconscious Scout Pokemon and put her back to her Pokeball to heal. "What am I supposed to do with you?" He wondered, eyeing the ball as if it was supposed to give him an answer.

"Well.. Give her a chance, maybe she'll come around." Good try, Fenton Danny thought to himself.

Leo gave him a slightly disbelieving stare. "Really? She is the one who set off those Zubats at us, remember?"

"-Or you could always trade her." He hastily added, flinching at the memory of multiple Leech life and Confuse Ray flying around in the cave. "Well, Trainers, get your second Pokemon out!"

Roark, naturally, kept Geodude out on the field. Leo went with a different approach and called out his Ace. "Go! Grovyle!" Leo called out as he threw his Pokeball into air. The Grass-type starter once again appeared in a flash of white light, his body already on standby and ready for a battle. Leo quickly wiped the frown on his face and grinned as he motioned for the Grass-type to come over. Grovyle came over and leaned close as Leo started to whisper on his ears, he would nod at random interval, respond with a yes sometimes before pulling away and gave his trainer a thumbs up.

Seeing that they were ready, Danny raise up his flags "The second battle between Grovyle and Geodude..." Danny called out, bringing the two flags in his hands down to signal the start of the match.

"BEGIN!"

To Be Continued.
