Chapter Six; The Wedding
"Hey buddy, are you feeling better?" Peter's father asked him as he ran back inside. "Yeah, where's Jane?" he asked him.
"Your mother took her into the bathroom to clean her shoes up. She is also giving her a firm talking to in the way she treated you." He explained when Mickey suddenly came back inside. "Come mere, let me fix your tie." The Doctor said as he bent down to straighten it.
"Is anybody mad at me?" Peter asked while he did.
"No of course not, they knew it was an accident." He answered.
"Just like the drumsticks!" Peter exclaimed excitedly as he glanced up at Mickey.
"What drumsticks?" The Doctor asked as he picked him up.
"See? What did I tell you?" Mickey questioned him with a grin.
"Hold on for a second, what is he talking about?" The Doctor asked him.
"It's a long story, I'll tell you later." He answered when suddenly Rose rushed down the aisle carrying Jane inside her arms.
"Alright we're all set." She began. "Jane, what do you have to say to Peter?" she questioned her sternly.
"I'm sowee that I was being so mean to you." She apologized.
"It's alright I'm sorry that I threw up on you." He told her as she laughed.
"It's okay, it was pwetty funny." She admitted as The Doctor gave a grin while the children continued to giggle.
"Is everybody ready?" The minister asked them.
"I dunno." Peter said nervously.
"It's all wight, you can do it." Jane said encouragingly.
"She's right, we all have faith in you." The Doctor whispered softly before kissing his cheek and setting him down on the ground while Rose put Jane down next to him. That's when suddenly the wedding march began to play and Peter and Jane watched along with everyone else as Sarah walked down the aisle.
They laughed along everyone else as Shadow trotted down the aisle wagging his tail and carrying the hem of her wedding dress inside his mouth. "Look, he's wearing a tucks!" Jane cried inside a whisper with a giggle as she pointed over at him. That's when suddenly the music stopped while Shadow sat down and let out a large bark as laughter broke out through the crowd again.
The Doctor grinned and winked at his dog while Jack went down to get his bride. Afterwards Shadow got back up onto his feet and turned around trotting back down the aisle while continuing to wag his tail. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the sight of God to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony." The minister began.
"And therefore what God has joined together, let not man put asunder. Let us begin." He said before he turned to Jack. "Jack Harkness do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold in sickness and in health? To love and to cherish as long as you both shall live?" he asked him.
"I do." Jack answered.
"Sarah Smith," the minister began as he turned over to her. "do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? In sickness and in health? To love and to cherish as long as you both shall live?" he asked her.
"I do." She responded.
"In that case may I have the rings please?" The minister asked as Peter gulped while he looked all around at the photographers snapping pictures at him.
"Peter!" Jane whispered while she waved her hand over at him and slowly raised her basket into the air reminding him in demonstration.
"Thanks." He whispered with a grin as he took a deep breath and slowly raised his pillow into the air while their father smiled at them.
"Thank you." The minister told him as he took ahold of the rings inside the palm of his hand. "Jack place this ring onto Sarah's finger and repeat after me." He began as he handed a sparkling golden ring over to him. "I Jack take you Sarah." He began as Jack repeated it. "To be my lawfully wedded to wife." The minister said while Jack mimicked it.
"To have and to hold from this day forward." He said as Jack echoed it. "And therefore keeping myself only for you and therefore pledging my faith." The minister said as Jack repeated it and then he turned to Sarah and asked her to do the same thing to him before she slid a shimmering silver ring onto his ring finger.
"By the powers invested in me as minister of the Lord Jesus Christ and the laws of Britain, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." The minister said as Jack grinned at Sarah and slowly pulled her veil up and threw it over her head before they smiled at each other and locked lips.
"Eww!" Jane cried as she closed her eyes and turned her head away from them.
"Yuck!" Peter exclaimed with a look of disgust before covering his face with his hands while both of their parents simply just laughed at them. Just then Jack and Sarah broke apart.
"Ladies and gentlemen give it up for the new Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harkness!" the minister exclaimed as everyone inside the pews stood up and started to cheer and applaud. The reprise of the wedding march began to play and the bride and groom escorted each other back down the aisle with everyone else heading back towards the exits.
"Mummy I'm tieword." Jane said.
"Me too, when are we going to eat?" Peter asked.
"As soon as we get to the reception." Their father answered.
"What the heck is that!?" Jane cried as he laughed.
"It's where Uncle Jack and Aunt Sarah will cut the wedding cake and there will be tons of music and dancing." He explained.
"Wow! I wuv it all weddy!" Jane exclaimed excitedly as both of her parents laughed.
"Come here miss flower girl." He told her as he picked her up and kissed her cheek before he carried her out the door.
