A/N: Finally starting to exit my depression stage... 2 heartbreaks did not help though... Look, point is, this story ain't dead. This is just a quick short chapter to try and move things along again. I will be able to get back to it more soon enough.
Chapter 17- Innovations
"Sister please. Take a rest! Thou has been at it for hours!"
"I am Fine Luna," said Celestia ", I MUST witness this."
A dark blue unicorn covered by a hood poured her magic into a crystal ball in the center of the room. Staring into the orb was Celestia herself. Within the orb shown the city of the docks of the Griffin Empire. If it weren't for Aperture, Celestia would have been amazed by the new advancements the Griffin Empire has made. However, she could not take in the glory of the city due to the current situations. The entire city was buried in war.
No
No... war did not describe it. A slaughter was the better term. Coming in from the sea were the robot army bearing the Aperture logo. The griffin Navy did not last very long. The futuristic cannons designed by the Ancients fired and tore through griffin warships before they even came under griffin cannon range. The airforce had tried to use their flying warships as an advantage since the invading force beared no flying warships of their own. However, smaller metal winged birds took off from the carriers and rained metal fire and devastating explosions onto the Griffin airships.
Celestia at first questioned the choice of only using smaller aircraft but know she knew the tactical advantage. Smaller crafts were more nimble, fast, and agile.
Once the giant metal ships docked, hell was unleashed.
In the city, all citizens had been evacuated. Thousands of soldiers stood ready to defend their home turf. Many trenches were dug. Steel shields and walls were plentiful which suprised Celestia. Steel was still a rather new alloy, expensive, and hard to produce. Other contraptions were also deployed such as griffin tanks which were motorized metal cages from which griffins could shoot their weapons from the inside. A few even carried cannons similar the the far superior Aperture tanks. Most of them had an iron plating while the better ones had steel.
Other new weaponry had been brought out such as mounted rockets, mortars, and new explosives.
However, the might of the Griffin Empire stood no chance against the far superior technology.
Smaller green metal boats were released from the larger ones and landed ashore. Golden and black robots marched onto land carrying highly advanced weaponry. Quiet a few tanks and other crafts were landed too.
The robots ran into the city where they opened fire into the Griffin ranks who also retured fire. The two sides exchanged arrow for bullet. In one street, the griffins had pulled up a layer of iron walls after loosing a fifth of their soldier in the firefight. At first, the iron walls seemed to stop the general spread of bullets. The Griffins took their chance and lobbed explosives over the wall damaging and even managing to obliterate a few robots.
However, their victory was short lived as one of the robots pulled out a long cylinderal device, aimed it at the iron walls, and fired. A rocket came out of the barrel and speed towards the wall. Once it made contact, a fiery explosion tore apart the wall. All the griffins were blasted back.
"Bring out the heavy artillery!" one screamed.
The griffins rolled out a catapult base with mounted rockets on top. The driver lit the fuse of each rocket one by one sending packed explosives into the robot army tearing them apart. The Griffin soldiers cheered but were stopped when they saw green and black tanks rolling their way.
The Griffins rolled out their own tanks. The metal cages sprouted their cannons and fired exploding cannonballs onto the invading tanks. An explosion rocked the streets as teh soldier shouted more battlecries. They were silenced when the smoke cleared and the tanks still stood with only a few dents. The green and black tanks returned fire.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
The Griffin tanks were instantly shredded apart. The Griffins desperately fired the remaining four rockets at the tank but only managed to take one out before that too was destroyed.
"Oh dear," said Celestia.
The image on the crystal orb shimmered, flickered, and finally disappeared.
"What?" said Celestia.
The unicorn in the hood lost the shine in her horn and stumbled over onto the floor.
"I'm sorry Princess," said the pony ", I have stressed my magic for too long. I couldn't hold the vision."
"It is alright Vision Wish," said Celestia ", You have done me well. Now why don't you go take a nice long rest. You deserved it."
"Thank you princess," said Vision Wish as she left the room.
Celestia turned to Luna who was still standing there.
"Luna-," started Celestia
"No," said Luna
"Excuse me?"
"Has thou even look at thy own eyes? They are of red! You have been in there for so long!" said Luna
"But the Griffins! They are suffering!" said Celestia
"No! Rest! Now," said Luna.
"*sigh... Alright Luna," said Celestia", But when I wake up, we will discuss this matter."
And with that, Celestia slowly trotted to her quarters.
"*sigh... finally," said Luna
*BAM!
Luna turned her head to see that Celestia had walked into the wall instead of the actual doorway.
Luna sighed again.
"Take care Wheatley!" shouted Morality. She watched the helicopter fly out a portal to the outside world. "D
"Bye!" said Wheatley ", Dont worry! I'll be fine!"
"Medic! Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid!" shouted Morality
"Ja! I vill do my best!" said the Medic-bot.
"Hey!" said Wheatley.
*beep beep! Bwoop!
The portal dissappated and Morality was left to continue on with her other tasks.
'beep beep! Important message from science core team 251!' said Morality's inbox ', Artifacts, buildings, and other new changes detected on Mars! These are believed to be the first human colonization and space settlements after leaving Earth in search of a new home. Evidence suggest that resources were not suitable for living conditions which is believed to be reason for leaving. More investigation is required! Immediate action is suggested!'
'Well then why haven't we been able to scan it?' thought Morality
'satellites are far too old, broken, and tampered,' responded her systems ', new satellites are required.'
'Request permission from GLa-'
*bwoop
A red portal opened on the floor in front of Morality.
"What the-"
"RRRRARGH!"
The Anger core covered in blood jumped out and landed on the floor splattering the clean white surface with red. In it's magnetic grip, an empty SMG.
"What!? Anger Core! Where in the heck were you!? You went off our grid days ago!"
"grrrr! RARARARARAHRAGH!" spasmed the Anger Core.
Morality sighed and pulled out a stun stick.
*beep! SHRAAAAAKT!
"GRRR_BZZZZT!"
"Where WERE you!?" said Morality. She held out the stun stick threatingly.
"grr... angry... dogs... more anger... hate them!" said the Anger Core.
"*sigh... I don't have time for this," said Morality.
At the command, a portal opened underneath Anger and dropped him into the inspection bay.
'relay message to GLaDOS and request instructions.' thought Morality
'Error! Unable to relay. GLaDOS is currently under maintenance reboot,' said her systems.
'Darn,' thought Morality ', which means I am in charge.'
'affirmative,' said her systems ', commands?'
'Prepare a standard explorer cruiser with science-vessels. Launch in 3 days,' said Morality
'Affirmative,' said her systems.
"Alright! Now that THAT is done with," said Morality ", I guess its time to ship some tech to Canterlot for them to study. Maybe some phones and a telegram. To think they have computers but no telegrams! Man! they really over rely on magic!"
