Act V: XIII's First Lesson
"You what?" Glynda asked dumbstruck.
"I wish to be a teacher." Gilbert said for the second time. Gilbert shows no fear despite knowing full well that the two individuals would crush him.
'They are Hunter Saints after all.' Gilbert thought his monotonous voice echoing in his mind.
Hunter Saints a group of 10 S- class hunters that are regarded as Remnant's strongest. Each member's abilities are well known throughout Remnant.
Gilbert looks at the standing woman.
Glynda Goodwitch the woman known as Remnant's Witch Goddess. She is a huntress unmatched in the art of Glyphs and dust manipulation. She is reputed as Vale's strongest woman.
The veteran assassin looks at the seated headmaster.
Ozpin, Remnant's Emerald Wizard but he's even more famous for his other title.
"Ozpin, the God of War. I never did tell you how much I admired your work during the Faunus War. You annihilated hundreds of Faunus be it man woman or child. What's more is that you did it without hesitation." Gilbert smiled at the so called God of War.
The God of War, it was a title that Ozpin despised more than anything. At the mention of that damned title he frowns. It was a title that only served to remind him of his greatest failures and mistakes. It was a title he wore in shame.
"What's your aim, Gilbert?" Ozpin questioned. He had to be careful with this man. After all he has Jaune's life in his grasp at all times.
"Didn't I tell you before?" Gilbert asked rhetorically. Despite how playful he seemed his eyes were dull and emotionless, he was void of life. Ozpin might as well have been talking to a dead man. "I have to make sure you don't impede XIII's training."
The other man in the room narrows his eyes. Eyes filled with regret staring into eyes void of anything. "There's more to it than that."
Gilbert sighs. "Ozpin, you and I both know that XIII is broken."
"Watch your mouth Gilbert!" Glynda quietly threatened. She wouldn't stand for such words coming from this man.
"Glynda!" Ozpin said as his hand rose to silence his partner. He lowers his hand. Ozpin's eyes centered on Gilbert whose face showed neutrality. "What do you mean by "broken"?" Ozpin asked.
Gilbert frowned slightly irritated that the hunter saint was wasting time. "Don't act like you don't know anything. XIII is not like your students. They don't know the pain, the despair that he's felt. He needs to be with the program."
"So you're saying that Jaune is incapable of living a normal life?" Ozpin inquired.
Gilbert closes his eyes, deep in thought over his next words. "Ozpin he's no longer that boy 9 years ago." He opens his eyes in order to be in eye contact with the man in front of him. "He's an assassin and a soldier now."
Glynda's livid green eyes glare at the seated man in front of her. To have such audacity to say those words in her presence meant he was either brave or stupid, probably both.
"You're both naïve…" Gilbert stated as a fact. "You don't know what it's like to lose everything you ever held dear to you in an instant. XIII along with every other member of the Jaeger Program knows this despair. It's what makes them strong. It's why they've survived for so long. Despite having nothing the children I taught were able to claim their own destiny with their own two hands!"
Despite how passionate his words were Gilbert maintained a persona of neutrality and lifelessness.
Glynda opens her mouth to retort but was stopped by her partner's words.
"If you insist on wanting to become a teacher for Beacon then so be it."
"But Ozpin." Glynda began not fully understanding the purpose of his decision.
"Glynda, he's not going to take no for an answer. Besides when it comes down to it we're all allies with a common goal." Ozpin said with no hint of emotion.
"The goal for which every huntsman and huntress strives for, the protection of Human and Faunus alike." Gilbert said.
Ozpin takes a sip of his coffee. Setting it down gently he continues to speak. "We only have one class without a teacher so I hope you don't mind the lack of choices."
Gilbert smirks. "Oh I already know that. And I'm quite alright with that. It's the class I want to teach anyways."
After Gilbert leaves.
"Ozpin how can you be so reckless! Who knows what Gilbert will do!"
"Glynda, I understand your opposition towards my decision."
"Then why?"
"You must understand. With Gilbert teaching here at Beacon we can observe him. If he does anything that should harm Jaune or the students here then we will act upon it. It's dangerous I know. But it's necessary."
With a sigh "If that is what you think is best then so be it. I'll make sure to keep a close eye on him." Glynda turns and walks away. She stops near the door and looks back at Ozpin. "I won't allow that man to endanger the students or my boy."
"I know you won't which is why I am entrusting you with this task." He said with a smile.
As XIII was walking through the halls of Beacon his mind drifted to the events that transpired moments ago. His discussion with his Godparents and Gilbert's sudden arrival and as much as he wanted to mull over these thoughts he was sadly interrupted by the antics of a hyper active hammer wielder who was eating all the pancakes… again.
"NORA!"
'Poor Ren' XIII thought as he was approaching his new team in the cafeteria donning the mask of Jaune Arc.
As the two childhood friends were talking.
'More like Ren talking to a rampaging Ursa' Jaune mentally corrected.
Pyrrha, somehow sensing her new leader's presence turns her head to grace him with a soft smile which Jaune returned in full. "Hello again!" She waved with enthusiasm.
"Are those your two favorite words or something?" Jaune suddenly asked with mirth that was easily identified by the redheaded Spartan.
Pyrrha merely giggled cutely from those words. She began to answer the blonde's question (Despite him not really expecting an answer.).
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!" an unidentified male shouted in embarrassment.
Jaune sighs with his eyes closed not wishing to look at the destruction caused by his uncontrollable teammate. "Nora what did you do?"
"But I didn't do anything."
Jaune opened his left eye revealing slight annoyance. "Wait if you didn't do anything then who-"
"Ruby you complete DUNCE!"
"Never mind Nora I figured it out." Jaune said while his left hand covered his forehead signaling his slight annoyance. Despite not wanting to know what his new companion did he looks at the results of her actions. "Oh boy"
In front of him was the other half of his clan, Team RWBY with mixed expressions. Ruby was holding Crescent Rose while flustered over her action. Weiss was giving her partner one of her already infamous ice queen glares. Blake was simply shaking her head in disapproval with a book in hand. Yang was laughing holding her sides in the process.
The strange part was that a male student stood in front of team RWBY without any clothes…
Except for his pink underwear with brown polka dots…
With remains of a school uniform around him…
Ruby with Crescent Rose out and remains of a school uniform around a near naked student. Jaune put the pieces together.
"I just wanted to show off Crescent Rose!"
"So you decide to cut our fellow peer's clothes off?!" Weiss retorted with frustration.
"I was just showing him some of the cool moves I could do!"
As the two continued arguing the male student snuck off in hopes of escaping this insanity.
"Poor guy." Jaune said with a sigh. "At least no one else is here. Which reminds me why are you guys in the not in the dorms? I thought Headmaster Ozpin told all first year students to go to their assigned dorms."
As RWBY were taking their seats with Juniper the blonde brawler of the group answers. "Since we fought a Death Bringer Professor Goodwitch told us it was okay to go to the cafeteria to unwind."
"Oh" Jaune absently said using his hand to support his cheek. "So why was the other guy here?"
This time it was Blake who answered while still keeping her gaze on the pages of her book. "He's a second year who was tasked with answering any questions we had. He was only supposed to escort us to the cafeteria and leave afterwards. However…" Blake looks up from her book to set her gaze on her young leader.
"Little sis thought it was a great idea to compare weapons. See what a second year's weapon looks like. But Ruby took her farming tool out before that second year could move an inch." Yang said entertained with her sister's obsession of weapons.
"Okay that's it! How many times do I have to tell you?! Crescent Rose is not a tool for farming! Where did you get the idea that the greatest weapon of all time is a farmer's tool?!" Ruby exclaimed refusing to believe her sister's words and the accusation that her weapon was a farmer's tool.
"Uncle Qrow told me."
Jaune's eyes widen at the mention of that name. 'Wait, as in the Remnant's Grimm Reaper?' Jaune looks at the two sisters with genuine amazement. 'To think that they would be related to one of my father's friends.'
"What makes you think Uncle Qrow knows that?!" Ruby asked in denial.
Yang simply rolled her eyes. "Ruby he wields a scythe too. He taught you everything you know. He even became a Hunter Saint because of his skills with a scythe. It's safe to bet that he knows what he's talking about."
"But I… he…" Ruby hangs her head down in defeat.
Jaune shakes his head in disapproval. 'How could Ruby not know the origins of her own weapon?'
Yang pats her younger sister on the back. "There, there Ruby if it makes you feel any better I still think Crescent Rose is an awesome weapon."
Ruby raises her head revealing that her silver eyes were watery. "You mean it?"
"Of course." Yang answered simply earning her a crushing embrace from the weapon fanatic.
As the two sisters enjoyed their embrace Ren asks the question that has been on everyone's minds. "Jaune, how exactly did you teleport us back to Beacon Cliff?"
"That is an excellent question Ren, one which I plan on explaining but before I do." Jaune looks towards Weiss. "Could you explain how your glyphs work? I'm not sure if I could explain it as well as you could."
Weiss simply smirked, a sense of pride washing over her. "Hmph, if I must." Despite the unnecessary smirk from earlier her demeanor takes a complete 180. "My semblance is the ability to create Glyphs. As you all know, the Glyph type semblance requires an individual to transfer their aura into a glyph they've created in addition to the amount used to create it in the first place."
Ruby raises her hand. "Wait so I'm confused."
"About what, Ruby?" Weiss said with a sigh.
"Why do you have to continue to transfer your aura to the glyph if you already created it?"
Pyrrha interjects to answer the young girl's question. "Ruby, in order for the glyph to remain in this world a hunter must continue to supply the necessary aura. Also, the aura is used to utilize her glyph's abilities. Even if the glyph could maintain its form without a supply of aura they would be useless."
Ruby simply nods in understanding.
"Thank you, Pyrrha." Weiss said with a nod. "Now in order to activate multiple glyphs simultaneously I have to connect my glyphs together."
"How do you do that?" Yang asked.
"Remember the first thing we learned when we unlocked our aura?" Weiss asked.
Before Yang could reply the other blond answered. "We must identify our trigger."
"Correct, similar to how each person's aura and semblance is different. The trigger to activate our aura is different for each individual." Weiss placed her hand on her chest. "In order to activate our aura we must imagine our trigger."
"Look I know how a trigger works!" Yang interjected. "But what does that have to do with your glyphs?"
"Like how I use my trigger to activate my aura. I simply imagine a chain that connects my glyphs together."
"Why couldn't you just say that?" Yang questioned.
(Don't question me- I mean Weiss. I worked really hard on this explanation and I will not let you ruin this for me…! Another thing I'd like to say is that the idea of a trigger to activate aura was originally conceived by The Inner Hollow. The story made by this wonderful author is called White Knight. Check it out it's a well made story.)
Jaune clears his throat. "Could I take over now?"
"I suppose so." Weiss said with a slight scoff.
The blond assassin only nodded before he started his explanation. "Since Snow Angel's-"
"Arc"
"I mean Weiss." Jaune corrected. "Since her glyphs are connected with one another I simply transferred my own aura through the "chains" that connected each glyph, which caused each of you to come in contact with my aura. This allowed me to teleport everyone to the cliff."
Nora suddenly started raising her hand. "Super Awesome Leader?!"
"Yes Nora." Jaune said as he looked at the girl full of energy.
"So what exactly is your semblance? I also remember you saying something about bone and sword." Nora started rubbing her chin having multiple theories.
Jaune smiled knowing that he was going to be asked that sooner or later. So with a sigh he answered his teammate's question. "I guess you could say that it is a part of my semblance." Without any warning a perfect imitation of Jaune's Dark Repulser appears floating above the table. The rapier styled sword glistened like moonlight.
"Shiny…" Ruby and Nora said in unison.
"My semblance is the concept of Creation." Jaune said with a sense of pride. "It is a Kindred category Phantasm Semblance."
In this world there are 3 basic classifications of semblance that fall under two categories.
The first class is known as Phantasm. It is generally regarded as the strongest out of the three types. A Phantasm Semblance is the power to create a phenomenon, such as power over fire or control over sound or even telekinesis.
The second is Glyph. The power to create aura powered circles with different effects. Generally those with a Glyph category semblance act as support for their teams.
The third is Ocular. It is an eye based semblance. It is the rarest of the three categories but despite how rare it is this category is generally viewed as useless since the abilities are subpar in comparison to Phantasm or Glyph.
The two categories are Kindred and Sole.
A semblance under the Kindred category is one that is passed down from generation to generation. Families with these special family oriented semblance abilities are regarded as nobles. In addition, a Kindred Semblance becomes stronger after each generation. So the 13th generation's abilities would be greater than the 12th generation.
A semblance under the Sole category is a semblance that is unique to the individual with no ties to their family. Even if they are a member of a noble family it is possible to manifest a Sole Semblance instead of Kindred.
"Creation itself…" Ren said with obvious astonishment.
Jaune nods. "You could also say that my semblance is the concept of imagination. I can create anything that my mind desires. For example, when I teleported everyone to Beacon Cliff I simply imagined us being at the cliff. In order for my image to be fulfilled a rift in space had to be created in order for us to move."
The power of creation and imagination, to think such a semblance could exist. At the very least everyone was impressed with his powers. Pyrrha in particular was intrigued with her partner's semblance. In her mind she began deducing various ways that Jaune's semblance could be used. If what Jaune said was true. Then everything he desires is absolute.
If Jaune desired a sword then he would be granted with one. If he desired to be on top of one of the many skyscrapers of Atlas then his existence would be moved there.
'Incredible…' Pyrrha thought with genuine astonishment.
'Of course there is a limit to my ability.' Jaune takes hold of the floating Dark Repulser. 'But they don't need to know that.'
Jaune's sword shatters like glass. The shards of light turn to brilliant stardust before disappearing completely.
"Wait…" Ruby suddenly interjected getting everyone's attention. "Can you can make a bunch of cookies from thin air?" Ruby asked with the upmost seriousness.
"Why am I not surprised?" Yang grabs her sister's hood and starts dragging her off. "Come on you guys, I'm getting a little tired from all this information being dumped on me. Let's go to our new dorms."
Weiss and Blake follow the sisters leaving team Juniper alone in the cafeteria. That is, until Ren got up from his seat.
"Tired?" Jaune questioned.
Jaune only hears a quiet moan from Ren before he opened the door with Nora following behind. When the two leave Jaune and Pyrrha hear their hammer wielding teammate shout something about a piggyback ride.
'Poor Ren' Jaune thought with a smile.
"We should join them." Pyrrha said with a smile of her own.
Jaune nods in agreement and the two partners leave the cafeteria. As the two walked side by side they engaged in small talk. Pyrrha talked about Mistral and her time at her old school, Sanctum. Jaune simply talked about his love for literature which Pyrrha pointed out that Blake and he would make great friends. Then Pyrrha told him that they should be at their temporary dorm soon.
"Wait, temporary dorm?"
"Oh how could I have forgotten? Apparently, since our team and team RWBY are now a clan we'll be given a private dormitory sometime this semester. So until then we're using a normal dorm."
"Huh" Was all Jaune said as the two walk in a comfortable silence. Despite the news Jaune didn't seem to really care. 'Why should I? I won't be here long anyways.'
First comes destruction
I create nothing…
"Mother!" Jaune's body flipped forward with his hand out to reach someone. Sweat was pouring down his forehead and his eyes that always held confidence was reduced to ones belonging to a terrified child. It was his nightmare again. That hellish fire that surrounded him as a child was still burned into his memory. The image of his family's corpses cursing him, reducing him to that scared boy from 9 years ago.
Luckily for him, his team did not seem to stir from their slumber. With a sigh of relief he gets out of bed to start the day. He brushes the hair out of his eyes while he exits the dorm to head to the male shower rooms.
He was wearing a simple black shirt that was a little tight on him and gray boxers. When he enters the shower room he looks around to take in his surroundings. The shower room was quite big, bigger than he thought it would be. There were more than three dozen independent showers to use at the back. The part of the room he was in was the sinks and restrooms with large mirrors above said sinks.
While looking at one of the mirrors, XIII removes his clothing. He looks at his unscarred body. Despite all the years of training and hunting Grimm and other monsters disguised as people that plague the world, his skin was flawless due to his abnormal amount of aura that healed his injuries that would easily leave scars.
The blonde then looks at his left breast, more specifically the tattoo of his number, XIII it read. The addition of his number wasn't his idea. He was actually against it but somehow a certain idiot convinced him and the other members to get tattoos of their respected number.
"Honestly, what was IX thinking?" XIII rhetorically asked as he left to take his shower.
XIII entered the shower and turned the water on. The cold water hit his warm skin. But he did not wince. He stared absent mindedly at the shower head as it poured water down his face. His eyes close as he tries to think…
But there was not one thought that crossed his mind. His mind was empty…
He was empty.
XIII returned to his dorm with black pants on. Over his shoulder was an arrangement of clothes. He places them down to start changing. But his attention sways hearing someone stir from their bed.
Currently yawning, Pyrrha slowly rises from bed revealing her red nightgown that exposed a well amount of cleavage. But despite the view XIII didn't really care nor did he seem to pay attention to the heavenly sight.
"Awake I see." Jaune said with a smile.
"Yeah…" She simply said as she was rubbing her eyes. When she was done her eyes look up at Jaune. Her cheeks felt much warmer than usual at the sight of her partner's bare upper body. But her attention was soon directed towards the tattoo etched on Jaune's body.
Seeing where her eyes trailed to he quickly answers her unspoken question. "The tattoo simply means that I'm the 13th generation of my family." He didn't lie about being his family's 13th descendent. But as for the reason for the ink on his breast he had to lie about that.
"Your semblance must be incredibly potent if you're the 13th descendent." Pyrrha said as Jaune puts a white dress shirt on.
"I suppose so." Jaune said as he buttons the shirt.
With a smile she rubs the back of her head in slight embarrassment. "So... if you don't mind me asking. When we met yesterday, did you really not know anything about me?"
'What an odd question?' Jaune thought while masking his confusion with a smile. "It's true. I never really watched much television. I was always too focused on training." He explained while putting a blue vest on.
"I see…" Pyrrha said with a smile that gave away her obvious happiness. Lucky for her Jaune didn't seem to notice due to his difficult battle.
'Damn this tie to hell!'
Noticing her goofy partner's plight the redhead assists him. "Here…" She takes hold of the tie that matched her hair and begins tying it properly. "I may be a champion but my mother told me that it was required of me to know how to do this."
"Your mom seems to want you to find a certain guy."
"Perhaps…" She said with blushed cheeks.
After finishing with his tie Jaune looks at the mirror. He smiles obviously pleased with the wrapped cloth around his neck. "Thanks Pyrrha I owe you."
She only has a short lived laugh as Jaune reaches for his jacket.
"Alright, I'm going on ahead to class." Jaune said as he gets the school jacket on.
"But it's so early."
Jaune opens the door to leave but explains himself before actually exiting. "Better to be an hour early than a minute late." With that one statement he closes the door and leaves his team.
It was at that moment that the gentleness from Jaune was brushed aside. His eyes that resembled the warm ocean froze over. They were the eyes of XIII.
"Later." He said to himself as he walks to his first class, Grimm Studies.
"Grimm Studies." XIII said with no hint of emotion. The blonde opens the door and is greeted by a rather spacious classroom with rows of long desks. Looking around some more he sees diagrams of six different species of Grimm.
"King Taijitu, Death Stalker, Beowolf, Boarbatusk, Nevermore and Ursa." He recites.
"My, it would seem that I am in the presence of a true huntsman in training. You're that boy who defeated that Death Bringer. I believe your name is Jaune Arc correct?"
Jaune turns to see a large husky man. He wore a red uniform with gold piping and buttons that was a little a tight for him. The man seemed to be in his mid fifties. His most noticeable feature was his grey mustache that was quite bushy.
Jaune smiles at the man he assumed to be the teacher. "Yes and thank you for your kind words Professor. I wanted to speak with you for a moment."
The husky professor starts to chuckle. "I see let me guess. You wish to hear about one of my tales of heroism in my youth!"
"Um… actually I'd like to discuss something else with you." Jaune said with a chuckle assuming that Port was only joking.
Oh he'll figure it out later.
The rather large professor clears his throat. "Yes of course. There is always time for that during class. So tell me what is on your mind Mr. Arc? Oh, and my name is Peter Port." Port has his hands behind his back.
"I was wondering if you could allow me to take your final exam now so I can graduate early. Is that possible Professor?"
Port looks at the man in astonishment. "You want to take my exam today before even learning the material?"
"Well to be honest. I've known the material since I was 12. So if you would allow it I'd like to take your exam." Jaune has a small smile while telling Port this interesting information.
Professor Port was deep in thought about Jaune's desire to take his test now. The husky man gave no distinguish of his answer through his features.
"Tell me young man. Do you truly believe there is nothing for you to learn in this class?" Peter asked sternly.
"I do professor." Jaune said without hesitation.
"I must say Mr. Arc…" Peter said with a quick chuckle. "That's preposterous!"
The young hunter in training did not expect such an answer. He assumed that he would at least be given the opportunity to reveal his knowledge of the curriculum. So the only thing he could mutter was "What?"
He didn't understand the Professor's reasoning. He knew everything that is required to eliminating the Grimm. He trained for years to kill those beasts. So why couldn't this teacher give him the chance to graduate early.
'The only reason why I'm here is to receive a hunter license officially. I'd rather not wait four years if I can help it. Besides…' Images of his new clan mates fill his mind. 'They'll only bring me down.'
Without revealing his irritation he attempts to reason with Port. "Sir, I doubt I'll learn anything here. At my current level I'm already leagues ahead of every student here."
"I wouldn't say that my boy." He said with a quick chuckle. "I can think of two who can match your strength."
As Jaune was prepared to speak Port has his hand up to stop him.
"I did see the recording of your fight with the Death Bringer. While I do believe you are above most of your peers that doesn't mean there isn't anything for you to learn."
Peter has a firm grasp on Jaune's shoulder.
"Mr. Arc you may believe that you know everything there is to know about the Grimm. But that my boy is simply impossible. As huntsman and as people we learn more and more throughout our lives. It may neither be today nor tomorrow nor even in a month's time. But I guarantee that you will learn here. And who knows, what you learn may be even more important than our prey."
Peter removes his hand from Jaune motioning for him to sit in one of the seats in class. "Take a seat my boy. Let your mind mull over my words."
With reluctance Jaune nods saying a quick apology and takes a seat. Instead of merely sitting he takes a book out from his jacket. It was a light red book with gold lettering that spelled Loveless. Despite how angry he was the sight of the book in his hand calms him.
Loveless, Jaune's favorite epic that he reads every day. The main focus of the epic is three friends attempting to obtain the gift of the goddess. The three friends were known as the prisoner, the traveler and the hero. It reminded him of his two best friends in the program that he cherished above all others.
Jaune wanted to believe he was the hero. But he rarely let that thought out.
Moments later students come rushing in completely out of breath, due to the fact that they all overslept and came rushing over to class. The last ones in was team RWBY.
The four girls of the gem named team wave at the blonde reader. When the girls take their seats, Yang turns from her seat to speak with the fellow blonde.
"So whatcha reading?"
"It's called Loveless. It's an epic well known in Remnant."
Weiss and Blake seemed interested as they both joined the conversation.
"I didn't know you had an appreciation of the arts." Weiss said.
"I certainly didn't take you for a lover of literature either." Blake said with composed enthusiasm.
Jaune merely replied with a chuckle before the bell rang and Professor Port began class. And boy did the entire class wish the bell did not ring for little did they know that Professor Port had a rather interesting method of teaching his students.
"Monsters! Deeeemons... Prowlers of the night! Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as prey! Ha-ha!"
The members of RWBY, seated on the front row, are in varying stages of interest; Blake and Yang are sitting up and paying attention with Weiss doing the same but taking notes. The leader of this team has her head propped in her hand as she takes a quick nap until she is woken back up by Peter's bad joke, which receives a cricket-filled silence as a result.
"Uhhhh... And you shall too, upon graduating from this prestigious academy! Now, as I was saying." Port continues on with his lecture. Though Jaune was quite tolerant of boring classes Port wasn't doing a very good job at keeping him interested.
"-That is what you are training to become. But first. A story."
'Wait a minute.' Jaune thought his eyes narrowing slightly.
"A tale of a young, handsome man..." Port continued.
'He was actually being serious.'
"Me!"
'Oh dust.'
"When I was a boy..."
His words fade into the background and a series of "blah"s for everyone. But surprisingly there was meaning behind this painfully long story of self boasting. While Port was indeed boasting about his heroism he was also teaching as a result. About a method of defeating the Beowolf in his story which was unheard of from Jaune.
'Okay I admit I learned something new. But using cabbages in such a way is so inefficient.'
The speech evolves into more "blah"s as Ruby snickers at her creation and shows it to her teammates: A general ball-with-limbs-and-a-head drawing of the teacher with stink lines coming from him and "Professor Poop" written underneath. Blake and Yang are heard laughing, but Weiss looks annoyed while Jaune simply sighs at the image.
"Ah-heh-hem!" Peter waits until he has their attention again "In the end, the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity, and I returned to my village with the beast in captivity and my head held high, celebrated as a hero!"
The teacher takes a bow as Weiss slowly gets more and more frustrated with Ruby's antics.
"The moral of this story? A true Huntsman must be honorable!"
'Ruby maybe you shouldn't be balancing an apple on your head.'
"A true Huntsman must be dependable!"
'And now she's asleep'
"A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!"
'Now my fellow leader is picking her nose… how mature.' Jaune sighs at the sight of the young girl.
"So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?"
"I do, sir!" Weiss exclaimed.
"Well, then, let's find out!" The large professor turns to gesture at the glowing red eyes surrounded by shadow shaking the cage that traps it "Step forward, and face your opponent!"
Jaune looks at Weiss with a blank expression. He then looks at the cage. 'Judging by the size of the cage I can assume that a Boarbatusk will be her opponent. So an D -class Grimm shouldn't be troublesome for her. However…'
Weiss was dressed in her usual attire with her dust enable rapier in hand. She takes her stance ready to fight the creature inside the cage in front of her.
Yang raises her fist "Goooo, Weiss!"
Blake starts waving a small flag saying 'RWBY'. "Fight well!"
Ruby joins the cheering."Yeah, represent teeeeam RWBY!" She then widens her eyes and looks at Jaune sheepishly. "Oh and our clan don't forget about the clan... what are we called anyways?"
Jaune chuckles at that. He then looks at Weiss his concerned from earlier reformed.
Weiss lowers her sword and looks over at her "leader".
"Ruby! I'm trying to focus!"
Ruby looking sheepish "Oh, um... Sorry..."
"Allllright!" Peter said who was next to the cage, pulling out his blunder-axe "Let the match... begin!"
The skirmish began. Despite the low level Grimm the young heiress struggles. The match should have ended in a single strike but it was dragging on far longer than it should have.
Jaune looks at the struggling heiress with knowing eyes. Despite the low level of this Grimm it was overpowering Weiss now. Jaune shakes his head in disappointment.
It was obvious why she was struggling.
'She's allowing her emotions to control her. The Grimm grow stronger when exposed to negativity. Weiss's anger and frustration is not only empowering this mongrel but weakening her in the process.'
Weiss looks up just in time to see the Boarbatusk to charge again, rolling out of the way just in time to avoid getting trampled and make it crash into a desk. Weiss rushes at her sword and slides to get it back in her hand.
"Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-"
Weiss turns to Ruby agitated by her meddling. "Stop telling me what to do!"
Ruby looks hurt at Weiss' rebuttal. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and landing on the ground, consistently gaining speed until it launches itself at Weiss. It comes closer and closer, but Weiss activates one of her blue-white glyphs and blocks the roll, leaping up into the now-black snowflake like glyph and turning it blue again so she can drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach. It squeals and falls silent while Weiss gasps in relief.
"Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress-in-training!" Peter praises as Weiss stands up at attention from her exhausted position and Ruby continues to frown. "I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!"
Weiss glares and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates.
Jaune follows her every step knowing that the heiress was in need of guidance.
Weiss is walking around the halls until she comes across a balcony where Peter Port is watching the sunset over Beacon Academy's rooftops.
Weiss approaches him apprehensively. "Professor Port!"
Peter turns around to look at Weiss "Ah, Miss Schnee! And to what do I owe this fine pleasure?"
Weiss has a small smile. "I... I enjoyed your lecture!"
Peter slightly laughs. "Of course you did, child; you have the blood of a true Huntress in you."
Weiss' smile widens at that. "You really think so?"
"Most surely!" Peter confirms. He then notices Weiss' small frown and lack of eye contact "Hmm... something's troubling you."
"Yes, sir..." Weiss said confirming the large professor's observation.
"Dear girl, confess to me your strife!" Peter said wanting to help the troubled girl.
Weiss starts to speak her mind. "Well... I-I think I-"
"Professor Port!" A voice called. Weiss and Peter look over at the origin of the voice to see Jaune Arc. "I think this is something that she and I should talk about."
Peter nods in understanding. "If that is what you think is best, carry on." He turns to Weiss with a slight nod. "Good day to you, Miss Schnee." He walks away leaving the two clan members.
Weiss looks at Jaune in anger. "What are you doing here?! I was talking with Professor Port!"
Jaune walks towards Weiss with a small frown. "I assume it's about how Ruby should not have been your leader?"
Weiss was taken aback and showed it with widened eyes. "How did you know?"
Jaune stops his advance and looks at his fellow clan member. "It was obvious. During the ceremony when Ruby and I became leaders you seemed distraught over the entire situation. I also overheard your previous conversation with her."
Weiss turns her back to her "leader". "Well sorry for being an open book. Now why don't you leave?"
Jaune places his hand on Weiss' shoulder. "Weiss, just talk to me."
Weiss turns sharply and pushes the concerned team leader away. "Why should I?! Why did that immature child become leader when she obviously isn't qualified!?" Weiss glares at Jaune as she spoke those words.
"Weiss, thinking that you should have been leader is selfish." He said calmly.
"Excuse me?!"
Jaune continued "Weiss, you're a Schnee. You're used to getting everything you've ever wanted."
"That's not even remotely true!" She said defiantly but under her leader's gaze, she reluctantly relents "Well... not entirely true."
Jaune has a slight smile. "So you weren't granted the title of leader. Do you really think that acting like this would change the headmaster's decision?" as Weiss looks at him again. "So instead of worrying about what you don't have, treasure what you do. Hone your skills, and strive to make them excellent. Don't become the best leader you can be, but a dependable person who can comfort those who are in need of it."
Weiss' glare intensifies. "That's easy for you to say! You were made leader! Of not only your own team but our clan! Why should I listen to you?!"
Jaune frowns. "Weiss, being a leader is not just a title one carries into battle. It is a badge worn constantly. And that badge is a burden. As for why you should listen to me. To be honest I don't have one. All I can ask is for you to trust me."
Weiss narrows her eyes. "Trust? Please, I know you're hiding things from us!"
"What do you mean?" Jaune asks with feigned ignorance.
The heiress points at him accusingly. "The Infinitas Dust Crystal that is in your possession! How could you possibly have one?!"
Jaune's eyes widen. How could he have been so careless? He couldn't tell her that it was given to him by her father. He would have to lie. 'If I need to lie to get out of this position then so be it.'
"What's your answer?" Weiss said says pulling XIII out of his thoughts.
XIII begins his lie. "Weiss, just because there are only three Infinitas Crystals known in the world doesn't mean there aren't any others. My family was able to acquire one through decades of mining."
Weiss crossed her arms. "Really? What are the chances of randomly finding a crystal of that much worth? More so, what are the chances of such an event not reaching the media?"
The young blonde mentally cursed and praised Weiss for her intelligence. But if XIII wanted to get her to trust him for his short time here then he had to keep pushing his lie forward.
"Weiss, my family didn't want the attention. So we hid the fact that we discovered a 4th crystal."
"Why wouldn't your family want the recognition?" Weiss said her arms still crossed.
A dozen different answers appeared in XIII's mind but quickly chose one that best suited the direction of the conversation.
"My father is a rather secretive man. He prefers to not draw attention to himself. He is a hunter first before anything else. The less potential enemies know of our arsenal the better. It's simply a way for us to hold a secret from those who would conspire against the peace that was achieved by our predecessors."
Weiss thought about her leader's smooth response.
Despite how long she was thinking over this XIII knew he had succeeded. His response covered any holes that were in his story.
"I guess your story checks. So I'll trust you… for now."
"Good." He said with a smile as he casually walks away with his hands concealed in his pockets. "Let's go Weiss. We wouldn't want to be late for class."
As Jaune was almost back inside Weiss stared at his retreating back, she sighs not knowing what to do with her male leader. And little did she know that Jaune's smile was completely gone and replaced with the cold expression of XIII.
'I'll have to be careful around Weiss. She's already suspicious of me so I'll have to keep her close and make sure she eventually trusts me.' With a smirk his mind conjures another thought. 'Then again I won't be here long…'
Jaune and Weiss barely make it to 2nd period which was Dust Theory. Weiss and Jaune have this class together. They were both taking notes and made no eye contact with one another. No words were spoken to one another which did not go unnoticed by Goodwitch.
After the bell rang Jaune attempted to persuade his godmother to allow him to skip a grade. But much to his surprise and anger she denied him of the opportunity to skip a grade.
Jaune goes off to third period which was history. When he enters he sees the entirety of his clan. "Hey guys" Jaune said as he takes his seat away from the others.
Jaune then notices the professor for their history class. He appears to be a rather young man, with messy green hair and brown eyes. His attire is disheveled: his white shirt partially tucked into his dark green pants and its collar raised, showing a slack yellow tie, along with mismatched brown and black shoes. He also has round glasses that appear to be opaque.
"Class has begun so I want everyone in their seats immediately so we may begin." He spoke inhumanly fast. Jaune notices the cup of coffee in his hand as well as the other three on his desk.
'Oh boy another coffee lover' Jaune thought with an image of Ozpin in his mind.
The professor continues. "My name is Bartholomew Oobleck and I am your history teacher. Please refer to me as Doctor Oobleck and Doctor Oobleck only!" He starts moving at speeds that no normal human could do. He was so fast his feet seemed stationary the whole time as he was moving. "The curriculum you will be learning will start from the First era all the way to what we all know today. To start things off can someone explain the premise of the First Era?"
Jaune was about to raise his hand until Weiss raised hers' first. "The First Era is the beginning of our history. Everything before this era is unknown to us. But it is believed that it was during the First Era that humans began a unified kingdom."
Oobleck takes another sip of his coffee. "Very good Miss Schnee however you are missing one crucial piece of information."
As much as Weiss wished to retort believing her knowledge to be flawless she remains silent allowing Doctor Oobleck to continue.
"Who can tell me what vital piece of information is missing?"
Once again someone beats Jaune to the punch. Raising their hand was Blake Belladonna. She rests her hand down when the caffeine addict calls on her.
"What my teammate Weiss forgot to mention was the fact that the Faunus also helped form the kingdom. At the time humans and faunus had a compromise."
"And what was that compromise?" Oobleck quickly asked, he gestured for someone else to answer.
Seeing that no one else was going to answer Jaune takes the opportunity to answer.
"The compromise between the two peoples was the exchange between weapons and dust. While humans discovered dust we lacked weapons due to a shortage of materials. The faunus on the other hand lacked a large quantity of dust but had an abundance of metals to forge weapons."
"Very good Mr. Arc I'm pleased to know that there are students who are knowledgeable in our history!"
Doctor Oobleck continues his lesson with the speed of a hurricane.
Jaune didn't bother paying attention for he already knew the material.
Despite how swift Oobleck was at teaching the fact remained that their first lesson with this man felt like hours already when in fact he only began ten minutes ago.
'This is painful…' Jaune thought before falling asleep.
Fortunately the bell rings allowing everyone to leave. However, Jaune stays behind and tells his teammates that he needed to speak with Oobleck. They comply and exit the room leaving the student and teacher.
"What can I do for you Mr. Arc?" The doctor asked.
Clearing his throat Jaune tells Oobleck the same information he told Port. He goes on to say that he already knows the material and knows that he should skip a grade.
"I see so you believe you are ready to graduate despite this being your first day?" Taking a sip of his coffee Oobleck eyes the young prodigy. "I'm afraid I can't allow you to skip this class."
Once again Jaune was denied! He already proved that he was knowledgeable over the curriculum. So why deny him?!
"Mr. Arc this is a combat school. While not your normal school it is still a place of learning. So as such you are here to learn and better yourself. Take my class for example." Oobleck looks at his desk full of books and papers. "History is one of the most important concepts a hunter must understand. By learning and understanding the mistakes made by those in the past you acquire knowledge which is the greatest weapon you can ever have in your arsenal."
Oobleck takes one last drink of his coffee before setting the mug down. "The past can teach us many things." The green haired professor turns to Jaune. "Think over my words Mr. Arc. Now run along! You wouldn't want to be late for your next class!"
After history Jaune left for "Survival Training" class. The teacher for this class was Professor Peach. Besides handing out a packet with information over various berries that are edible and poisonous the class had nothing to do for the first day.
Once again Jaune attempts to reason his readiness to graduate. But Peach gives him the same answer that his previous instructors gave him.
Another denied request…
After 4th period Jaune and Ruby left for "Battle Tactics" class reserved for only team leaders.
Jaune and Ruby enter the class and take seats in the front row.
After all the students arrive Jaune has his attention towards the teacher in front of the class of leaders. The professor was very young probably in his mid twenties. He has a pale complexion. His violet eyes look over at his students while bangs from his short black hair are in his view.
"Hello class my name is Lelouch Lamperouge. This class as you know is reserved for only leaders of their respected teams. As you know being a team leader is the most important role. You must always stay vigilant. The lives of your friends will be your responsibility."He goes on with his lecture.
Both Ruby and Jaune were listening attentively.
"Normally I would be the one to teach this class. But my wife is due in three months. So I'm afraid I can't teach you to be the best leaders you can be. So before I go I'd like to introduce your new teacher."
With a fluent motion with his hand the door to the class opens. The man who stepped inside seemed boring and lacked any life in his eyes.
All the students looked at the black haired man with bored expressions. But Jaune was far different because the man who walked inside was his mentor and leader.
'Gilbert'. Despite how surprised he was, Jaune has a mask of neutrality and boredom.
With a cigarette in his mouth Gilbert waves at the youth. "Hey kids, I'm Gilbert Klein your Battle Tactics teacher for this year."
'You've got to be kidding me.' Jaune narrows his eyes at the black suited man.
"Before I leave things to you, Gilbert let me provide one lesson for them." Lelouch said with commanding eyes.
Gilbert has a compassionate smile that seemed to express genuine sincerity for the young teacher. "Of course these were supposed to be your students anyways. Go ahead."
After a quick nod Lelouch looks at his students with fierce eyes, eyes that could command anyone if they merely look at them.
"Students, you are all leaders of your own teams meaning you have a responsibility so daunting that only those with a special gift can handle! Every decision you make as leader has consequences! Your orders which may have good intentions can possibly lead to bloodshed and destruction!" With a flurry of his wrist he begins to raise his voice. "OR PERHAPS! Your orders that are filled with blood will possibly save even more lives!"
Jaune and Gilbert eye the raven haired professor with interest. Both assassins were wondering where Lelouch was going with this.
"As leader you must believe in not only your teammates." He slams his hand on his left breast. "But in yourself! If you cannot have faith in your abilities as a leader then you are doomed to fail! As leader you mustn't hide behind your team and give orders! You must always be leading them at the front! For if you do not lead your team, how can you expect your comrades to follow you!?" Lelouch pauses allowing the students some reprieve from his sudden lecture.
"When you finalize a plan never doubt it because as leader you can never be wrong!"
A leader can never be wrong. How is that even remotely possible? Everyone makes mistakes. It's the way the world works. The world is always right while people will always be corrected by it.
The young professor's next words however smash that fact away. "It is neither I nor any other leader I see before me that will be wrong…! It is the world that will be proven wrong!"
All the students were stunned by Lelouch's words. But what did he mean by the world being wrong? How could one person be right and the world be wrong. But even with that question in their minds they were inspired. Each student wanted to stand and follow this man to where ever he may go.
"The world is wrong?" Gilbert asked suddenly drawing everyone's attention. "Perhaps you should explain yourself a bit better."
Lelouch eyes Gilbert with calculating eyes. But the man's violet eyes look back to the students in front of him.
"There was once a great philosopher who shaped the world we know today. He was a part of the first generation of Hunter Saints. He once said "Never let anyone tell you that something is impossible.""
With another flurry of his wrist he makes one final declaration. "When I tell you that the world is wrong I'm telling you to do the so called impossible! To touch the untouchable and to break the unbreakable!" His hand encloses in a fist with those words. "If you can't do that then you are not fit to lead!"
His voice boomed with authority and charisma. Each student who listened to this young man wanted to stand for him. They wanted to follow this king into battle. With one speech they firmly believed that this man was strong. They believed that no one could instill fear upon him or command him to do anything.
"Well said… but shouldn't you get going? I don't think your wife would appreciate her beloved to miss his flight."
"And with that I must bid you all adieu." Lelouch said his confidence from before now shattered at the mention of his cranky wife. He dashes away internally praying that he wasn't late for his flight.
"Wait Professor Lamperouge! What was the name of that scholar you mentioned?" Ruby asked with her hand up.
Despite the dire situation he was in Lelouch stops. With his back still turned he opens the door to leave.
"…Monty Oum." He turns towards his students one last time. "Now if you'll excuse me. My Q1 is waiting for me." (I just couldn't help it.)
He exits after leaving the name to the students and new professor.
Said professor starts writing on the board as if the speech from earlier never happened. "Okay class my name is Gilbert Klein. Professor Klein will do but if you call me Gilbert then that's fine too."
Gilbert turns to his students with a cigarette in his mouth. "So are there any questions?"
All the students raise their hands at once.
"Don't ask why I have a cigarette."
Everyone but Ruby puts their hands down.
"No you cannot see what my weapon is."
Ruby also places her hand down.
Gilbert must have done his research on Ruby. How else would he have said that? Furthermore, he seems to be rather laid back compared to his usual demeanor.
Jaune rests his head down while mentally cursing his luck. 'Why is the director here?'
Jaune looks at his teacher who just lit his cigarette. Gilbert notices Jaune's staring and smiles innocently at him.
'Oh dust.'
As Jaune and Ruby were walking through the halls Ruby starts a conversation. "That was pretty heavy wasn't it?" Ruby asked referring to Professor Lamperouge's speech.
Jaune nods. "It was. So where are you headed?"
Ruby sighs. "Dust Theory."
Jaune smiles at the pouting girl giving her his condolences. "Well good luck, I'll see you later. I'm off to Literature."
Jaune and Ruby go their separate ways. When Jaune enters his Literature class he sees Blake reading a book. Jaune walks over to the quiet girl. "Mind if I sit here?" He asks. Blake looks up from her book and simply nods.
Jaune sits down and looks at the book Blake is reading. "Tales of the Abyss." Jaune said aloud.
Blake looks at Jaune with a slightly surprised expression. "You know this work?"
Jaune nods. "I read it a few years back. It's a good read." Jaune rests his chin on his hand. "I guess it's just you and me. I hope you don't mind."
"It's fine. It's not like I hate you or anything." Blake replied with a smile.
Jaune smiles humouredly. "Well that's good to know." Jaune takes out his own book. It was "Loveless." Jaune begins reading it with a smile gracing his features.
"I'm guessing Loveless is your favorite." Blake said.
Jaune stops reading to look at Blake his smile never fading. "You got it. I've even memorized the entirety of it."
"Then why do you still read it?" The bow wearer asks with tamed mirth.
"Just because I've memorized it doesn't mean I'll stop reading it." Jaune replied. The bell rings and Jaune closes his book.
An old man who was the professor begins talking about how important literature is. He introduced himself as Professor Twain.
"Literature is truly a most wondrous thing. Whether you read something simple or advanced what's important is that the story fascinates you. If a story can bring your imagination to life then it is an excellent work. Now I will call one of you and when I do you are to tell me your own favorite piece of literature." He suddenly looks at Jaune. After looking at his clipboard to see what his name was he looks back at the young blond. "What is your favorite piece Mr. Arc?"
"Loveless." He said without hesitation.
"Ah, a great work of art. I am quite a fan myself." Twain said with a smile.
"I'm happy to hear that." Jaune said happy to know that his teacher was also a fan of his favorite epic.
Professor Twain continues on with his lecture discussing the different books that will be analyzed for the semester.
After Twain finishes there is still five minutes left of class before the bell rings. He allows the students to spend this time chatting.
"Blake can I ask you a question?" The blond asks.
Blake diverts her attention away from her book to look at Jaune. "What is it?"
"Well, I was wondering why you wear that bow. Could you tell me?"
"Why do you ask?" She said curiously. Despite being alert at the sudden question she doesn't dare show it. She couldn't seem suspicious.
"I was just curious. I mean don't get me wrong you look good with it on. But again I was just curious."
With a nod Blake answers her leader's question. "It was a gift from an old friend of mine."
Jaune smiled, and accepted the answer. "I see well with that out of the way let's talk about something else. I'm guessing from your combat attire that black is your favorite color."
Blake smiles at the sudden change of topics. "Well, you're right to assume that. What about you? Is your favorite color white like your aura? Or is it also black?"
"Actually, I love all colors." Jaune said.
Puzzled by his answer Blake questions him. "That's new. Why is every color your favorite?"
"Every color is unique and that uniqueness makes it beautiful in its own way. Even the color you adore is beautiful." Jaune smiles after finishing.
Blake thinks about his words and smiles. "Is there anything you don't like?" She asks sarcastically.
Jaune has a sad smile. "I'm afraid everyone has something they dislike."
"And what could Jaune Arc, probably the nicest guy in the entire school hate?" Blake asks with mild amusement, not noticing that the smile Jaune made was that of sorrow and pain.
Flashes of that night surged through his mind.
-The Hellfire…
-The blood of his parents which resembled…
-Those Red eyes.
"I'll have to think about it for next time." Jaune maintained his smile as he uttered those words.
The bell rings signaling for them to leave.
The two start talking about other topics. Like what stories they enjoy and what their favorite foods were.
As the two were talking Blake couldn't help but notice how much she enjoyed talking with Jaune. 'He certainly is nice.' Blake nods. 'He'll be a good friend.'
Jaune notices the warm smile Blake has and couldn't help but comment on it. "Your smile…"
Blake looks at the commenter with an eye brow raised.
"It's beautiful." Jaune continued. "You should use it more often."
"I'll take that into consideration." She said apathetically.
Jaune and Blake go their separate ways. Jaune went to his "Aura Usage" class. When he enters he sees students he doesn't know. That is until he spotted a girl with blonde hair like his.
"Hey Hotstuff sit with me!" Yang was seated alone as she was waving Jaune over.
Jaune smiles at the fellow blonde as he walks over. When he takes his seat Yang immediately wraps her arm around his neck. Their faces were only inches away which Jaune didn't seem to mind.
Yang notices the lack of embarrassment. She doesn't relent though and decides to continue with light teasing.
"Are you already over my stunning good looks?" Yang said with amusement.
Jaune looks at the brawler with innocent and confused eyes. "Well I've encountered girls who do this too. But with each girl I have to get used to it."
Normally one would be amazed and dumbfounded that someone would get used to girls fawning over them. But Yang wasn't surprised at all. In her eyes Jaune broke the 10/10 scale with ease. So with knowledge of Jaune's encounters with girls didn't come as a surprise.
It was honestly expected.
"What I don't understand is why girls always seem to want to get extremely close." Jaune said with boy like innocence.
"You'll find out eventually." Yang said with a wink.
"Alright class, please pay attention." The two blondes as well as the rest of the students look to see their professor.
'A brown sack?' Jaune thought as he eyed the teacher.
In front of the students was a fairly large person who was built like a man. He was wearing a white lab coat with a black shirt underneath. He was wearing brown jeans with a darker brown belt around his waist. But the strange thing was is the fact that there was a brown lunch sack over his head. There were two holes for the professor to see out of.
"I am Doctor Gero and I will be your teacher for Aura Usage."
The professor was an anomaly to Jaune. Which is saying something since everyone in Beacon be it the teaching staff or the students were far from normal.
"In my class you will learn how to master your control over aura. Since this is your first day you will each come up and display how much control you have as of now. What each of you will do is raise your aura at a slow and steady pace. Once you release your maximum output you will then steadily decrease it."
"Um professor…" A female student called out with her hand up. She was a tanned black haired girl with light orange eyes.
"Yes…"
"Why are you so weird?"
"…"
"…"
"That is an excellent question! But one that will be addressed at a later time!" The professor takes a remote out and presses a single button. The monitor behind him turns on and displays a leader board.
It displays the names of five students with a percentage score to the right of their name.
Lie Ren: 83%
Pyrrha Nikos: 74%
Blake Belladonna: 69%
Brandon Charbonneau: 64%
Ruby Rose: 60%
Jaune smirks seeing the name of his male teammate at the top. It was impressive that someone at their age had such mastery over their aura.
However, considering the intense training that he went through, Jaune's control was almost perfect.
"Alright Hotstuff prepare to be amazed!" Yang said with her fist in the air.
"I can't believe I got a 52 on my aura control!" Yang exclaimed with red eyes displaying her anger.
"Yang you did almost experience your sister's first day. So it's not hard to believe that your score was poor." Jaune said with mirth remembering the 'explosive' display that Ruby and Weiss caused with their first meeting.
"Well sorry for not getting a 97 like you, Wonder Boy!"
'That's a new one.' Despite the new nickname given to him Jaune decides to ease the fellow blonde's worries. "Yang mastering your aura control is a long and complicated process. It requires discipline that must be honed for years. I only got a high score because I started my training at a very young age."
Yang accepts the answer with a silent but annoyed nod. The two blondes walk to their final class in complete silence.
Glynda was at the center of the combat stage while all first year students were seated up at the stands.
"Students, as you know this is combat training. This will be your most important class. So I suggest you all take your training seriously if you wish to proceed through the first year."
Many students remain silent allowing their instructor to continue speaking.
"In this class you will either train against synthetic targets. Or you will participate in a mock battle. Battles with androids will be a daily grade while a battle with one of your peers will be worth two daily grades. From time to time I will organize a small tournament that will be counted as a test grade." Glynda then walks over to a table with a small silver briefcase that was closed. She opens it to reveal several different types of magazines for armaments.
"If you use any type of ammunition based weapon then you will be using these for training. These are only concussion rounds. While not fatal the dust imbued in the round will simulate the pain of a gunshot wound but you won't be in any immediate danger."
Glynda takes a vial of dust from the case. The clear vial revealed the dust to be a very light blue.
"For any edged weapons you will apply this dust to it. The dust in this vial has the same properties of the concussion rounds. Meaning that once applied the dust will cause your weapon to dull insuring that your weapon will not cause life threatening injuries."
Glynda continues, this time explaining the way aura meters work. After explaining that the moment someone's aura reserves reaches the red zone the match will end, she then announces the last of the important information she has to give them.
"Students your first day of combat training will be against each other. In these battles we will determine your current level which ranges from Class F to Class S. Each rank will determine what missions you will be allowed to participate in."
"Now let's begin today's exercise. Everyone's first match will be against your own partner."
Glynda looks at her tablet and with a swipe she looks back up to her students ready to call the first matchup.
"Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie will be the first pair. Gather your equipment and be back quickly."
The two childhood friends both share a glance. Nora has a broad smile revealing her bright teeth while Ren offers a wry smile that seemed to compliment the wide grin from his bubbly friend.
The two friends were on the stage. With their equipment ready they wait for Goodwitch to start the match.
They wait in anticipation for the match to begin.
Nora has her hammer ready with her finger over the trigger to launch her forward.
Ren was unarmed and didn't get in a stance. He stands tall looking at his friend with his wry smile never leaving.
"Begin!"
An explosion of pink blasts Nora forward. Using the momentum of the force her hammer swings towards Ren.
But Nora abruptly stops despite the speed displayed earlier. The end of her mighty hammer only inches away from Ren's face.
The sloth loving girl takes Magnhild back showing full view of Ren's smiling face.
"Ren why didn't you move?! I could have hurt you if I didn't stop!" She exclaims with a pout.
Everyone else in the room wonders the same thing. Glynda clears her throat and reprimands Ren telling him "I know she is your partner but I assure you that you are both safe."
Jaune looks at his two teammates with a bored expression. He narrows his eyes at Ren obviously disappointed with him.
'Is he really worried that he'll hurt her?'
Nora notices that Ren's smiles widens. But the difference is so miniscule that only she can tell.
"Ren?"
"Nora…"
Nora tilts her head curious what Ren had to say.
His magenta eyes look at Nora with brotherly affection causing Nora's cheeks to match Ren's eyes.
"Sorry but I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you."
And with those words the lotus boy gets into a stance.
"Well that ended anticlimactically." Jaune said with suppressed humor.
After Ren went into his stance Nora made the first move…
Which was also the last move…
The strike caused Ren's meter to hit the red zone. Even though he lost and in a single hit he was smiling all while patting Nora on the head.
Nora on the other hand was pouting the whole time.
Nora ended up getting a C rating while Ren was only given a D. He would have received an E if it weren't for his outstanding performance in the Emerald Forest.
Next was Yang and Blake, the girl with unstoppable power versus the girl with overwhelming maneuverability. It was sure to be an exciting match.
And it was. The display of gold flames and shadows was breathtaking. Throughout the match it seemed that Blake would emerge victorious, but every time Blake would hit Yang her power seemed to only increase. This power boost gave Yang the victory in the end.
What Jaune and Glynda noticed was the constant regeneration of Yang's aura. Though the match was quite the spectacle the two other blondes also kept an eye on their aura meters, unlike the other students who only kept their eyes on the match.
After the match Glynda granted both a C-class rating.
More matches took place and each one was a boring spectacle. That is until Glynda called for Ruby and Weiss to step on stage.
After the two gathered their equipment the match began shortly after. The match seemed breathtaking. But to the trained eye it was obvious that it was a far cry compared to what the actual match would be like.
Jaune could see that Weiss was still upset. And it showed in her fighting. She was being reckless and relied on her emotions above her mind.
Weiss fires a volley of cyan energy bolts all of which were avoided by Ruby, who left a trail of rose petals.
With a yell, Weiss charges after Ruby using a glyph to give her a boost in speed. Ruby matches her and they both charge.
'How reckless…' Jaune thought as Ruby knocked the heiress down and claimed her victory.
Ruby offers her partner a hand, but Weiss simply ignores her and gets up on her own. Ruby's silver eyes look down in sadness.
Glynda announces their grade which thankfully for Weiss was a C rating for both of them. After the two girls sit down Glynda looks at Jaune and Pyrrha.
"The only ones remaining are you two. Please gather your gear and report back immediately."
They both nod and walk out to gather their gear. Pyrrha moves her hand to get her partner's attention. But Jaune didn't seem to notice and kept walking.
That's what Pyrrha thought anyways.
As Pyrrha goes to the woman's locker room Jaune looks back. His gaze was cold and calculating.
'Perhaps if I demonstrate the difference between myself and this champion, Glynda will understand how unnecessary it is for me to stay here.'
Jaune was in the locker room putting his gear on. After taking his uniform off he starts with his black combat pants. He then puts his black shirt on which was a perfect fit.
Seeing his black jacket he reaches for it and gets it on. He reaches in his jacket pocket and takes out a pair of black fingerless gloves.
"I can't go easy on Pyrrha. Not unless I want to waste my time here in Beacon." Placing the gloves on Jaune looks at a set of white armor that was settled in his locker. Apparently it was a gift from Ozpin to congratulate him for passing initiation.
Jaune doesn't even touch it not seeing any reason to utilize it. He places his sheathed Dark Repulser on his back. He leaves Ebony and Ivory in his locker.
"Let's get started…"
Jaune walks to the combat arena where Glynda and Pyrrha were waiting for him. Pyrrha was in her bronze armor with Milo (in its spear form) and her shield ready for the match.
The two wait for Goodwitch to start the match. While Pyrrha was smiling at Jaune the young man did not return it. His stare was directed at an enemy, and that enemy was Pyrrha Nikos.
Jaune unsheathes his ivory longsword. He lifts the sword up so the handle was just above the height of his head, while his left arm was forward with an open palm.
(A/N: It's Riku's stance from Kingdom Hearts… I couldn't help it.)
Pyrrha adopted a more defensive stance. Bending her knees slightly, she has her shield just below her eyes while the tip of her spear was a few inches past her shield.
Glynda looks at both prodigies to see if they were ready. Seeing that they were both in their stances she raises her hand to signal the start of the match.
"You may now…"
She dropped her hand. "Begin!" and with that she jumped backwards off the stage.
Jaune shot off like a homing missile, his sword brought up to deliver a strong downward strike.
Pyrrha allows the attack to connect with her shield to gauge the power behind Jaune's strike.
The strike crashed into Pyrrha's shield with a loud 'clank' sending her sliding back slightly, but the mistral champion did not falter nor did her guard drop.
'His strength is unreal!' Pyrrha praised as she is struggling to withstand the weight and power of Jaune's sword.
Pyrrha thrusts her spear forward forcing Jaune to move back to avoid the attack. With her new found breathing room she jumps back.
Jaune watches Pyrrha while she's in the air following her descent. When her foot reaches the ground he acts.
Engulfed in white light he disappears.
Pyrrha's eyes widen as a second light appears right in front of her.
Jaune materializes and with a swift motion he delivers a full salvo of attacks.
Using her superb reflexes Pyrrha blocks the barrage of sword strikes. Using her shield and spear in conjunction she defends herself skillfully.
Despite the speed and power of his strikes Jaune fails to connect a single hit. Then again he hasn't even begun to use his full strength.
'She's talented I'll give her that.' Jaune threw himself forward, before jumping into the air, with a spin forward he does a vicious downward strike.
Pyrrha brings her shield up and meets the strike with her shield, the sword crashed into her shield, almost causing one of her knees to almost buckle. But she did not falter.
Jaune vanished, freeing Pyrrha from the tremendous amount of weight she had to endure.
But the blonde reappears in front of her. Knowing that Pyrrha didn't have time to react, Jaune cocked his arm back and thrusts his blade forward.
But Pyrrha brings her shield up just in time to block the strike, allowing Jaune's sword to slide past her and her shield, an impossible feat which only proved Pyrrha's title as the invincible girl.
'Impossible!' Despite his inner outburst his face doesn't give it away.
Pyrrha quickly spins her spear around her wrist before swinging at Jaune.
Noticing the counter attack, Jaune parried the blow.
Jaune uses his superior strength to push Pyrrha's spear to the side giving him an opening. But knowing that he didn't have much time to redirect his sword for a strike he improvises.
His sword stabs the ground and with his hand on the pommel he uses his upper body strength to lift himself up. While in the air he swings his left leg.
Pyrrha was still staggered from the previous parry signaling that the match would soon end.
But it seemed fate was on her side.
While regaining her balance, Pyrrha brings her arm down at an inhuman speed while still holding on to her spear and blocks the kick.
Jaune's eyes widen at the display. Once again she somehow did the impossible. Distracted by his thoughts, he almost failed to notice the shield bash Pyrrha attempted. He is quickly covered in angelic light and vanished only to reappear a good distance away.
After Jaune gained some distance Pyrrha gets into a stance in preparation for another skirmish.
The young assassin looks at Pyrrha with excitement. He had to admit he was having some fun fighting her. It wasn't everyday when he could meet someone who was his age and was not in the program that could keep up with him.
'However…' His amusement is concealed in favor of a more calm and serious attitude. 'This is no time to be enjoying a fight.' His grasp on his sword tightens. 'I can't allow others to see Pyrrha as my equal.'
The two prodigies charge at one another.
Pyrrha concentrated on defense allowing her muscles to settle in with the rhythm of this fight. After each strike from Jaune, she would try to find an opening. But as expected she hadn't found one.
After a minute of Jaune attempting to bypass Pyrrha's defenses, he picks up the pace. He swung harder and faster forcing the mistral champion to expend more of her energy to keep up.
Weiss looked at the fight with astonishment. "Amazing, he's putting Pyrrha on the defensive."
While no one doubted Jaune's abilities and his proficiency for killing the Grimm. It was rather impressive that he was forcing Pyrrha into a corner. The redhead was a 4 time champion who never lost a match, so to see Jaune display skill on par if not greater than Pyrrha's was amazing.
Both Jaune and Pyrrha simultaneously swing their swords. The clash sent a gust of wind around them and towards the onlookers.
Pyrrha uses all her strength to push Jaune back. Succeeding in her goal she jumps back gaining a sufficient amount of distance.
'He's incredible. His power, speed and technique all surpass my own.' She looks at the large monitor that showed her and Jaune's aura meter.
They were both in the green. But Pyrrha's was inching towards the yellow zone. Her muscles ached due to the intensity of Jaune's assault so her aura had to ease her pained muscles.
'I feel as if he isn't even trying though.' She looks at Jaune's bored expression. He didn't seem fatigued like her or even out of breath.
Jaune can't help but smirk. "You're strong Pyrrha. Indeed one might even say exceptional."
"Oh, well thank you Jau-"
"However…" Jaune interrupted. "You and I both know that you're holding back. You'd like me to believe that you're lashing out at full steam but you and I both know we haven't seen the limits of your strength just yet." While he said this he still seemed bored, waiting for his partner to give him everything she's got.
Pyrrha doesn't respond only proving to Jaune that he was right.
"Bearing that fact in mind I still have quite a bit of leeway." His knees bend in preparation for a lunge. His eyes focus on Pyrrha and her alone. "Yes my friend… quite."
CLANK!
Pyrrha barely blocked the ivory blade. But she was grateful that she did. She didn't want to think of how much damage Jaune would have caused if she were hit.
'Fifty percent of my power, but a paltry half...' Jaune continued to add weight to his sword. 'A half should suffice into ending this.'
With a shout, Jaune breaks her guard and sends her shield arm back. Now that he had an opening he swings his sword, only for Pyrrha to dodge.
But he wasn't finished yet.
The blonde swordsman performs a barrage of attacks causing even the great Pyrrha Nikos to struggle.
Without relenting Jaune waits for an opportunity to strike with full force. He had to admit that his temporary partner exceeded his expectations. She was able to defend herself excellently.
But all good things must come to an end.
After a well executed guard against another one of Jaune's heavy swings. The blonde vanishes and reappears to her unshielded right side.
Aimed at Pyrrha's face Jaune thrusts his blade forward. As the point of the ivory blade was about to make contact his aim faltered and he lost control of his attack allowing Pyrrha to move her head to avoid the attack.
It was as if Dark Repulser moved on its own.
'No, that's exactly what happened!' Jaune deduced with annoyance.
Now that his attack missed Pyrrha initiates her own strike. But the young assassin uses his semblance to teleport away.
Jaune reappears a few meters away with a mask of calmness. Despite his failed attack he maintains his composure.
'Three times.' His mind echoed. 'Three times she made an impossible defensive move.'
Pyrrha transforms her sword into a rifle and began shooting. Jaune deflects the red dust shots with his sword while still trying to make sense of Pyrrha's impossible feats.
'The first time was when she blocked with her shield. When I took advantage of Pyrrha's first opening she had somehow raised her shield up at an abnormal speed.' Jaune closes the distance between them. Pyrrha's rifle changes to a sword and they begin their clash.
'The speed she displayed was puzzling because she didn't demonstrate such maneuverability during the first moments of our match nor did she display it at initiation.'
'The second time was when she blocked my kick.'
Pyrrha attempts her own kick only for it to be blocked.
'Once again her block speed far surpassed her earlier demonstrations'
Pyrrha throws her shield but was deflected, but Pyrrha managed to reclaim it. She gains some distance and has her rifle out.
'Then there was my last strike. Dark Repulser moved on its own at that instant.'
He deflects more of Pyrrha's shots and sends a white slash of aura at her. The mistral warrior rolls out of the way.
After her roll Jaune appears next to her. He does a slash attack only for Pyrrha to somehow narrowly avoid the attack.
'My sword moved on its own again.' Jaune goes for another attack. As he prepares another strike Pyrrha positions herself to defend.
Pyrrha awaits Jaune's attack with his sword. She was prepared to maneuver it once again. But this time she wouldn't waste this opening.
'Let's see if this changes anything.' Jaune releases Dark Repulser letting it fall to the ground.
Not expecting such a move, Pyrrha's eyes merely widen.
Jaune's right fist which glowed a faint white light, cocked back to deliver a mighty blow onto Pyrrha.
Pyrrha desperately raised her shield to block the oncoming attack. When the fist crashes into her shield a shockwave of white aura pushes her back and breaks her guard.
Jaune shot forth to take this opportunity to strike. With his rocket like speed he catches up to her to send a full salvo of punches and kicks.
Thankfully for Pyrrha she regains her composure to block her partner's intense barrage. Each punch and kick he delivered was energized by his aura and created shockwaves of white nova.
Jaune continues to pound Pyrrha's shield until her guard is finally broken giving him an opening to exploit. Jaune kicks her spear away giving him an advantage.
With a grimace upon her features, Pyrrha uses her shield to swing at the blonde. But he merely cocks his head back to avoid the edge of the bronze shield.
Jaune slides his foot to knock Pyrrha down and strikes her abdomen with a well aimed punch knocking her away. The force of Jaune's blow sent her crashing into the arena's floor with enough speed that she ricocheted after hitting it.
As Pyrrha steadily rose she held her stomach. Her usual cheerful and lovely face now bore a pained expression.
Jaune stood triumphantly. He knew that the match would soon end and didn't even have to look at the screen that displayed their aura reserves. He knew with that last attack Pyrrha's reserves were close to red.
'As I thought, her semblance is polarity.' His once tense muscles began to relax. 'At first I assumed her semblance enabled her to manipulate a person's movement. It would have explained how she moved to block so fast and how she forced me to miss. But if that were the case she would have done much more than that. So then it occurred to me.'
Jaune eyed Dark Repulser which was still on the ground.
'Polarity, the ability to manipulate metal.'
Polarity explains all her impossible feats.
Her first incredible shield block was due to moving her shield with her semblance.
Blocking Jaune's kick with her arm, she was holding her spear with that hand so she used the spear to bring her arm down.
Then there was Pyrrha's manipulation of Jaune's sword to avoid a fatal strike twice.
'After all of those occurrences I had to test my theory.'
When Jaune released Dark Repulser that was the moment Jaune won. If her semblance was indeed Polarity like he thought then there was no way she could manipulate his movements.
Seeing Pyrrha's fatigued form brought a disappointed frown upon his face. 'Never mind half my strength. I hardly used a third.'
Despite her injury the young huntress in training stands her ground. She was determined to win.
But she knew how outclassed she really was.
"He… he only made two punches… that made contact…" While falling on one of her knees Pyrrha's vision begins to blur. "So why am I so… so damaged?"
Glynda looked at the condition of Pyrrha and knew that it was her lost. She wasn't surprised at the outcome. But she was surprised that Jaune was using too much of his strength.
Witnessing a display such as that would usually warrant for an early graduation. She could certainly do it and she knew that's what Jaune wanted.
'Jaune, you are certainly talented…'
"But he isn't ready yet." A male voice finished for her.
Ozpin stands next to Glynda with his trademark cane in hand.
All the students were stunned to see the headmaster. They assumed he was here to see the great Pyrrha Nikos and the other prodigy, Jaune Arc fight.
Glynda and Ozpin have their eyes on their uninjured godchild and the beaten champion.
Jaune retrieves Dark Repulser and sheathes it. With a smile his attention is on Pyrrha. "You did well. But I think this is my win."
"Maybe" She said with a smile. "But I don't want to quit." She suddenly felt something touch her right cheek.
Jaune was behind her with the backside of his left closed fist touching Pyrrha's face.
"If I really wanted to hit you there, you'd be left unconscious." He moves his hand to grasp his partner's shoulder. "Thanks for the fight."
Jaune centers his attention on his beloved godparents. "Miss Goodwitch, the match is finished."
With a nod "Jaune Arc is the winner of the match." Glynda goes through her scroll and types a few keys. "Miss Nikos has earned a C ranking. Mr. Arc it gives me great pleasure to inform you that you've earned an A ranking. Congratulations."
On cue the bell rings allowing all the students to leave. Jaune waves at his clan signaling them to leave him and the two professors alone.
All the students were gone now, leaving Jaune alone with his idols.
Ozpin smiled warmly. "That was quite a performance Jaune. But next time you should moderate your strength."
"About that-" Jaune started.
"Glynda since this is the first day could you make sure the students don't do anything reckless."
With a nod "Of course sir" Glynda has a sympathetic smile for Jaune before she leaves.
Despite how much Jaune loved Ozpin as a mentor and a father, he began to glare at the headmaster of Beacon.
"Look, you know I'm ready to leave this school. I'm far above any student here and you know that." Ozpin said nothing as Jaune spoke letting him continue as his voice grew in volume.
"Keeping me here is a waste of time and you know that! I should be outside the borders of Vale hunting down those monsters! But instead you want me here where I'm useless!"
"I am a weapon.
As a weapon I must be used against those that threaten the world we live in!
Not sheathed in this school!"
Jaune began panting from his outburst.
But Ozpin remained calm. "Jaune…" He spoke softly his face adorning his usual semi-neutral mask that Jaune could not glean any emotion from.
"I understand your frustration, and I also know that you are more than capable of going out in the harsh world we live in." The older man offers his son in all but blood a smile. "You are a skilled combatant indeed. You have shown potential unlike anyone I've seen before. I have no doubt that you will eventually surpass me."
"Then why?" The young man asked, desperately trying to find what he was missing.
"You can't do everything alone, Jaune. I know you want others to depend on you. But you must also learn to depend on others."
"Walk with me." Ozpin gestured him to follow as the two of them walked through the corridors of the prestigious school.
"When students first enter my school, they are often in search of knowledge, and hope to hone their craft and acquire new skills, which they hope to use in preparation for their plans of protecting the people." His voice was calm as they continued their stroll.
The headmaster's words sounded familiar to Jaune. But he soon remembered them. Ozpin was referencing his first speech during the welcoming to Beacon.
"But this goal my students set for themselves, it blinds them from what is truly necessary. They are unable to see what is important and imperative to living as a huntsman in this wild world."
"What do you mean?"
"Like you, many students who first enter my school only think about their individual future as a huntsman or huntress. The thought of unity and friendship never crosses their minds."
"Thus, the energy they have when they first come to this school is wasted."
"But why?" Jaune questioned.
"You and every other student here in Beacon, are in need of purpose and direction. You assume that your knowledge alone can free you of this, and that you can accomplish every obstacle you run across alone. But you couldn't be any further from the truth."
They exit the building and were now outside. The sky was a bright orange. Students were seen chatting with one another or they were simply relaxing. There wasn't a single student that was alone.
"The life of a huntsman is not one that can be lived alone." The green clad professor motions over the chattering students. "We must share our burdens with those we can trust. Those we can call friend or lover." Ozpin put emphasize on that last part.
Aside from lover, Jaune understood where this was going. But he didn't want to listen, his stubbornness getting the better of him.
As Ozpin and Jaune watch the friendly chatter of young students from afar "There are many things in Beacon that neither I nor the rest of the teachers can teach. One of which is the importance of bonds."
"What good would it do if I stayed here to just make friends?! This clan you entrusted me with will only slow me down! Besides, I already have a partner and a team! The Jaeger Program! I can rely on them in battle!"
"But can you rely on them in times of tragedy?"
Caught off guard from Ozpin's response, the young assassin remains quiet.
"When you leave this school you will begin your life as a huntsman. You will experience hardships along the way. These hardships may leave irreparable scars. But with a teammate, you can approach them when you are in need of aid or support."
"Look, I understand where you're going with this. But I'm not like the others. I'm better off either alone or with the program!"
"Alone, you could slay countless Grimm and perhaps be the sole cause of their near extinction. But eventually as you continue through your excursion of the Grimm infested territories even you will miss a single Beowolf that happened to escape your sight. And that beast will find your exposed back very enticing."
"As for the other Jaegers, while they certainly have the ability to protect you on the battlefield. Could they bring you comfort or compassion?"
Jaune remained silent being at a loss for words.
It was at that moment when Jaune saw team RWBY and the other three members of Juniper in the distance. Pyrrha seemed to have recovered and began to wave at him. The others mimicked the mistral warrior's wave but some with more enthusiasm.
"Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and cohesion, wonderful things can be achieved."
Ozpin looks at Jaune with a smile upon his features.
"Your time at this school and with your clan will prove that talent and knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."
"What is the first step?" Jaune asked as Ozpin begins to leave and the members of his clan inch closer.
"Create friendships that will last you a lifetime." The headmaster looks at the approaching youth. "You'll find that there are lessons that only friendships can teach you."
Ozpin left his son with his clan to enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
"So what were you and the headmaster talking about?" Ruby asked.
Jaune looked at the mentioned man's retreating figure. He smiled. "Oh nothing much, he's just telling me to make friends."
With a "Pfff" Nora jumps on her leader's back. "Why would you need to make friends when you already have us?"
Despite how annoying the whole situation was he could only smile. "Yeah… you make a good point."
Ozpin was in his office with Glynda looking over the reports of a successful mission by team CFVY.
"How was your discussion with Jaune, Ozpin?"
"It went fairly well. As he continues his studies here in Beacon I do believe that he'll eventually discover what he's missing."
"What is the thing he needs to discover?"
"What he's missing isn't something. It is someone."
"Someone?"
"Yes, this someone can offer Jaune what the members of the the Jaeger Program could never provide."
"And what can that someone give?" The headmaster's deputy questioned further.
With a smile that expressed genuine happiness, Ozpin answers her.
"Love…"
A/N: Please read...
That's a wrap! There you have it chapter 6 of XIII.
Now I'm really sorry for the long delay but hopefully this long chapter has put me back into your graces. Now I have a request and I really hope you can honor it.
In the reviews could you tell me how I did with each piece of dialogue that came from Port, Oobleck and Ozpin when it came to teaching Jaune his first valuable lesson? I know Port and Oobleck didn't get into detail but I want to know if I did a good job with building up to Ozpin's part. That's what I really want to know if I did well on.
Oh and if you think Jaune is op I'm sorry but since he's been training since he was a child I wanted to show the gap between him and the others. But what Jaune doesn't understand is the importance of bonds.
Also, I will create a poll for which girl you want Jaune to be with. I'll give you up to two votes so choose wisely because there will be a wide selection THAT MAKES SENSE! So go to my profile and you can vote.
So no Glynda, the twins in the yellow trailer, Roman, Lie Ren, Raven etc.
