I will be your strength, and continue to strengthen.

In a dark room with many computers and monitors, the only source of light was the monitors that displayed schematics, codes and important locations. The sound of keys being typed desperately could be heard.

The one who caused the violent typing was a lone man and by the look of his attire he seemed to be a soldier. His upper body was covered by a body suit colored white-grey with blue highlights along the helmet and arms. The helmet covered his face entirely, but bared his mouth.

"Come on, come on. I just need a little more time."

He heard the automatic door open. Instinctively his head turned sharply and saw a soldier with identical armor as his appeared. "What are you doing here?! You're supposed to-" The anger and volume in his voice faltered as the new soldier fell face down. And behind the downed man was the perpetrator who only wore a coat as black as night with a hood that shrouded his face. The coat has a large silver zipper that is fastened at the top and is zipped down to seal the coat. It has silver drawstrings for the hood decorated with a large silver bead hanging from the end and a silver chain ornament adorned with four large cylindrical silver beads that is fastened to a loop on either side of the collarbone region.

The soldier's full body was directed toward the unknown man. In a protective manner, he blocks the path towards the computers. He went for his weapon but abruptly stopped as he fell unconscious from a strike to the neck. The man in black, who was now behind the downed guard took a seat in front of the monitors and began to access the contents of the console.

After only a few seconds, he ceased to type and inserted a black flash drive with glowing red highlights. A download bar appeared on the screen. As the download commenced the door opened once again, and three guards entered, each with different weapons.

The middle guard who had red highlights instead of blue, held a silver assault rifle. The guards on the left and right held a standard pistol, and their armor had blue highlights.

While their weapons are aimed at the hooded man, the soldier in the middle steadily approached. "Stand with your hands up, and don't try anything."

The man in black complied. As he rose, his hands were up. His body turned to face the guard.

He kicked the chair which knocked the guard over. Without delay, he rushed toward the guard on the right and delivered a strong punch that knocked him away. The last guard took aim as the assassin rushed forth. The soldier never got the chance to fire as his firearm was knocked away. With a few quick jabs to the stomach the guard was out cold like his colleague.

With a moan of pain, the guard knocked over by the chair was about to rise. But with a quick boot to the face the guard gave up that endeavor.

DING

The hooded man looked at the bright screen and saw that the download was finished. After the hard drive was retrieved he made his way out. The corridors he ran through were littered with unconscious soldiers.

No blood was shed however, the so called assassin made sure of that.

After a sharp turn he was met with resistance. Four guards, two with rifles, and two with swords. This was simple enough for someone with his training. The two men fired their rifles, as he avoided the gunfire he attempted to close the distance between him and the rifleman, but was forced back by the melee fighters.

As quick as a gunshot, he seemingly vanished and reappeared behind the riflemen, and knocked them both down before they could react. The remaining two reacted accordingly and rushed toward the infiltrator. With a powerful punch he knocked one down, which caused the man to release his sword.

As the sword was in the air the remaining guard grabbed hold of it, and began to dual wield. He swung viciously at the hooded man, but proved too slow as he missed every slash. After another attempted slash, his arm was grabbed and was thrown over and lost consciousness.

Prepared to continue his escape, he heard the sound of running. After he kicked up a sword, the man in black prepared a stance for his opposition. Said opposition was a group of dark grey machines (AK-130 Androids)

"Intruder, identify yourself!" came the deep voice of the synthetic.

Without indication, he dashed forth and slashed at the androids, but the sword was not sharp enough to cleave through them. The metal soldiers retaliated with their own swords. With ease he avoided the programmed killers and jumped back. His attention was on the ineffective sword in his hand. His free hand hovered over the blade. Pulses of Turquoise aura wrap around the sword, the blade seemingly absorbed the aura and it gained a blue glowing highlighted grid design.

The droids attack simultaneously, with one that led the charge. In response, the skilled fighter charged. And unlike last time he cut through his first target with ease. As the two remains of the first droid fell, the unknown man cuts through the rest like butter.

Two androids that remained worked in perfect sync. As the hooded infiltrator blocked the first strike, the other synthetic would rush in to strike. But it proved to be too slow as he jumped back and threw his sword in the process. The grid designed sword impaled its target while its owner gained more distance. The last metal killer rushed forth with its maximum speed. In response, he cocked his aura synergized fist back. The aura generated then vanished, and left no trace of its existence. His fist pierced through the android's metal abdomen and severed it in half.

Without delay, he sprinted out to find an escape route. Only seconds pass before he found a large secured door. He came to a screeching halt as he took out the hard drive from earlier, and inserted it into the access console. The door opened for him and-

BOOM!

An eruption of emerald energy swallowed the man whole.

He could barely stand.

The assassin, who made his past opponents look like children, was being completely outclassed by a single opponent. Granted, his opponent was beyond anything he faced tonight.

A single android was in front of him. Contrasting with his tattered black coat, the machine was a beautiful white and gold. It gave off the appearance of a knight in shining armor. It was sleek yet still had more bulk than the previous androids.

In the knight's left hand was a blue rifle, and in its right was a sword with a crimson blade and gold hilt. The droid was also the same height as the assassin.

Taking aim with the rifle, the white knight shoots a green energy bolt. The assassin twists his body to avoid the shot.

The point of a crimson blade is suddenly inches from his face. Once again, he moves his body accordingly and avoids a fatal strike. While he was still in motion he hits the automaton with a powerful punch. The impact causes the white metal abdomen to bend, but was not bad enough to warrant a victory.

The man and machine resume their dance. As the assassin avoided sword thrusts and energy shots he would connect a series of reinforced jabs and kicks which did little to damage the programed killer. This dance would continued on for minutes which seemed like hours to the man.

The white machine jumped back while firing multiple energy bolts, all of which were avoided.

The hooded man, whose arm and legs were glowing turquoise, seemed to be settling in to the fight's rhythm. However, it was obvious that he was at a disadvantage. He had no weapons save for one. Himself. But as great of a weapon that he is he couldn't do anything to win at the moment. If only he had his weapons.

He could hear the air behind him being pierced and not even a second later the left shoulder of the white knight was almost completely blown off. To make matters even better. In front of the assassin, the ground was pierced by two twin spears. They were both a beautiful ivory with golden ornaments at both ends and along the handles.

Without hesitation, the assassin lunged forth and grabs hold of the spears. In a flash the spears pierce the white knight's metal body. It only takes a second for it to explode.

And like that the battle was over.

Walking through an alleyway was the injured assassin. His black coat was in tatters. His left arm was covered with cuts, bruises and burns. His spears were still in his hands as he trudged along the path. It was only a couple more moments until he leaned against the wall and slid down to sit.

He let his spears lay on the ground so he could hold his injured arm. Exhaustion was an understatement for him at this point; he was so tired he might as well be dead.

Maybe he could rest for a bit. A short nap wouldn't hurt anyone…right?

Yeah, a short nap should be enough. He was close, so very close to falling asleep-

"Shin, please stay awake." It was the voice of a girl, who seemed apathetic yet somehow she expressed her concern.

Though you wouldn't be able to see it, his eyes snap open. In front of him was a girl with the same coat he wore. But unlike him, her hood did not conceal her pale angelic face, whose pink eyes looked at him in concern, as her short hair that matched her eyes swayed in the wind. On her back was a large pink and black high powered sniper rifle.

That's right. He was this girl's strength, and he would continue to strengthen for her. Rest was simply not an option. So with reluctance…

"Alright Inori." His voice was that of a baritone. His voice alone easily recognized him as a young man in his late teens.

He gets up, and allows the wind to push his hood away to reveal his tired face.

He has tan skin, and his short hair was the color of milk chocolate. His eyes that resembled the orange sky of dawn, take in his companion's appearance before he picks up his two spears. He walks past her and leads the way.

The partners walk toward the darkness, and though their path is one of vengeance and death.

They would walk it together.

Laying on the grass covered by the shade of the healthy green tree he was beneath; Jaune Arc slept in silent peace. It was warm and pleasant for the young hunter in training. The gentle breeze helped him relax and forget about his unfortunate circumstances. He had been in Beacon for a couple of weeks now and tried to follow Ozpin's advice, but he found it difficult to interact with his new "friends". Each person in his (still unnamed) clan was so different compared to him and the members of the program. He didn't understand what the difference was at first.

But then it clicked.

Unlike him, they had one thing that he lost. They all have their happiness. He remembered his past life, when he had his own joy, when his heart wasn't missing. Back then he dreamt of having a happy life. Becoming a huntsman was the first step into realizing his childish dream. He wanted friendships that would last a lifetime. He wanted a family he could love.

"I really was an idiotic child."

Jaune sat up. With a yawn he rubbed his tired eyes as he dug through his pocket to take out his scroll and unlock it. The time was 1:32 which meant there was still time for his nap. He wasn't going to attend classes today so he had plenty of time to nap

"Would you like to explain why you are currently skipping class!?" An evil he had not felt in quite some time, an evil so dark that it despises other evil. This was it, he knew it. He was about to meet a fate worse than death.

A lecture from his godmother…

'Such misfortune'

Jaune looked towards Glynda with a nervous smile. 'Surely she would let it slide for my sake'. He was her pride and joy after all, or so she said. So it wasn't so farfetched to think he might get away with it.

"You're not getting away with it this time. This is the third time this week that you've neglected your classes." Glynda's voice seethed as she spoke, yet she expressed her concern as well.

Jaune was and will always be her primary concern. It wasn't because he was the son of her deceased friends, but the young man was the closest thing to a son she has ever had. She watched over him for 9 years, even as he trained as a member of the Jaegers. He and Ozpin meant the world to her.

But even though she loved her child she couldn't condone Jaune's negligence of his studies, and more importantly his negligence of his clan. And as much as she hated to admit it, he was only an empty shell. The life in his eyes that he had shown to everyone was a sham. She could see it, when he didn't think anyone was looking she saw the lifelessness in his eyes. How cold and dull they were.

It terrified her.

"Come on, I know all the material here like the back of my hand." Jaune said as he remained seated on the healthy green grass. He cracked a smile as he looked up at the good witch. "So whaddya say, up for a nap with your favorite son?"

All he received in return was a glare that could kill Grimm. 'Wish I had that.' His smile drops in defeat. "I'll take that as a no."

With a sigh "Jaune, I know you're ready for your hunting license, but please understand that Ozpin and I are doing this for your benefit."

He didn't give his mother a glance as his expression hardened. He wasn't concerned about his own good. What he was concerned about was the Grimm. And besides, an opportunity for a normal life was taken away from him a long time ago. The yearning to become a huntsman is not because of some childish dream, but of a realization. The world's corruption and evil cannot be changed by heroes. The world can only be changed by killers.

As Jaune continued to look away, his godmother sat beside him. They were in complete silence as they looked at the gardens of Beacon. The many white flowers were not yet in full bloom, they were lilies of the valley. The serenity of the garden was the reason why the young assassin chose this place to nap. He continued to stare at the white flowers, his mind absent of thought.

Until he felt his head dragged down to lay on something cushiony. His gaze his directed up and his blue eyes are met by Glynda's stunning emerald gaze. She smiled as her eyes conveyed concern and affection for him. Resting his head on her lap was like resting on a cloud. It was so peaceful and comforting to be like this, to be watched over by a loving guardian. His smile gave away such thoughts and only made Glynda's smile brighten as a result.

She was so beautiful, he noted. The woman who had taken care of him since he was a boy did not lose any of her beauty. Her hand brushed a few strands of blonde hair away from the resting man's face.

"I know you're frustrated with us." She said as her hand gently rubbed Jaune's hair. "And I know that you don't want to be here." He remained silent as she spoke. He felt horrible as he looked at her. All the warmth and confidence he felt before her arrival had vanished. The reason was unknown to him, but he knew that Glynda was in terrible pain as well. He could hear it in her voice. Was he the reason?

"But please understand." She continued as her smile began to falter, her hand continued to stroke her child's hair. "We… I want you to be happy."

"Happy?" Jaune spoke at last.

With a nod "Yes, you are undoubtedly strong. You are also so very kind. You ensure that others do not suffer, by taking on challenges alone. An admirable trait that many people lack." Glynda's gaze is set on the flowers of the garden again. "But just like those flowers, you have yet to blossom." Blue eyes also gaze at the flowers as she spoke. "If you just let people take care of you, then you will bloom. However, without care you will wither before you can reach your potential."

With shut eyes, Jaune was in deep thought. Could he form friendships with his team? Could he befriend three hyperactive girls, two stoic book worms, an heiress and a champion? For the first time in quite a while, he did not have the answers. But he did know one thing. His guardian, the woman he admired and loved for years was sad. And it was because of him.

"I get it." His eyes were no longer shut and his eyes met with Glynda's. "I'll attend my classes and I'll do my best to make friends. I promise."

She smiled approvingly and lovingly. "Good, now you should get to class."

With a sigh "Can we stay like this a bit longer?" he pleaded.

With her own sigh she answered. "Just this once." They both smiled as they enjoyed the garden together as mother and son.
