New York has to be the most beautiful city Brittany had ever seen in her life. Well, she's not been around that much, but she still thought New York was beautiful. The best part? She wouldn't be exploring the city alone – her girlfriend of two years is coming along too. Brittany was surprised she got through high school never mind going to college as well. It had never been in her plan, but after having a conversation with Santana she reconsidered and applied for Juilliard. Her audition went extremely well and it wasn't long until she got offered a place at their college. Santana applied for a few colleges but when her offer from Columbia came through the mailbox, she knew her choice instantly.
The past couple of years had been pretty amazing in Brittany's opinion. She got to go through high school with Santana and the Glee club – mostly Santana, Quinn and Rachel managed to repair their relationship and got back together and, aside from all of that, Brittany graduated. She had been worried she wouldn't so to finally get that diploma in her hand was the best moment of her life. Her parents were proud of her which had been the main thing. Speaking of her parents - the day of her graduation they told her some exciting news. Her mother was pregnant. She was a bit hesitant to begin with but, after everything the family had been through, she couldn't be happier. There would be a bit of an age gap between them, but that didn't matter. Brittany was just happy that there would be someone for her mom and dad to look after when she was away at college. Also, on a side note, she couldn't help but get excited at the prospect of a brother or sister.
Santana and Brittany had made the decision to live together in there own apartment whilst attending college. Neither of them wanted to live in dorm rooms so, after a long discussion, they started to look for houses. Both sets of parents were supportive since they would be moving to a big city together instead of going alone. Honestly, Brittany had been nervous about moving away from her family and from the only town she knew, but the minute they arrived the nerves were gone. She might be an eighteen year old in a huge city, but it just made her even more excited. Well, since she knew Santana got held back she's pretty sure the Latina is even more excited than herself. Santana is going to be twenty in three months after all.
Currently, Brittany is putting all of the kitchen equipment away. Before moving to New York, the two women went shopping for everything they would need. Yes, it had been more boxes to transport, but it ended up cheaper. Neither of them liked the idea of going shopping in New York. They had gotten a lot of nice things – one which included their king size bed. Brittany couldn't wait to sleep in it with the possibly of doing things other than sleep. Yes, you read that correctly. Brittany and Santana are sexually active, but only for the past six months. Both of them had wanted to wait until each person was 100 percent ready and they did. Neither had any regrets for waiting as long as they did. As a matter of fact, waiting made the whole night even better than it would have been if they slept together sooner.
Opening the next box, Brittany smiled when she came face to face with her prom picture. That had definitely one of the best nights of her life. Taking it out the box, Brittany walked to the living room hanging the frame above the fireplace. The framed picture had been a gift from her parents since they knew how much it meant to her. The picture itself was of Santana and Brittany. It had been taken by the photographer hired for prom and since they got the opportunity to buy the picture, Brittany did. Her parents just got it enlarged and framed making it one of her favourite house warming gifts. Santana hadn't seen it yet since Brittany wanted it to be a surprise. Speaking of Santana, the door opened and closed again indicating she was back.
"Baby?" Santana called, putting her jacket on the coat rack they bought. "Where are you?"
"Living room!" Brittany called out, turning away from the picture to see her girlfriend walking inside. "Hey, babe."
"I already hate the traffic of New York. Can't bloody get anywhere." Santana grumbled before kissing Brittany In greeting. "I managed to get some washing up liquid though."
"I think that's the only thing we didn't get when we went shopping." Brittany laughed, taking it from her girlfriend. "It wasn't too expensive was it?"
"Nah, it was only a dollar."
"Good because we can't afford to spend too much. Our parents are paying for the apartment but we still don't have jobs." Brittany pointed out, putting it on one of the boxes. "We should go out looking today."
"One step ahead of you. Mami told me a family friend works in New York, so I went in and asked him if they had any jobs and, luckily, he did. He offered me a job as a waitress, which means we just have to find you one." Santana explained before noticing the picture on the wall. "Where did you get that?"
"House warming gift." Brittany said, smiling. "What do you think?"
"It's perfect." Santana responded, beaming. "That night was amazing. I'll never forget it."
Brittany felt the same way. There were so many firsts Santana had given her which she could never repay her for. Santana Lopez is and always will be the love of her life. She would never meet someone who is as fascinating than her girlfriend. She wouldn't want to either. Being in love with someone who has unique qualities is rare – Brittany loves everything about her, including the fact she can't get through a movie without Santana asking questions.
"I'll never forget it either." Brittany said, kissing Santana's cheek before walking past her towards the kitchen. "Can you start putting some of the boxes away? I want this apartment to be done by tonight."
"Babe, we don't need it all done by tonight. Orientation doesn't start for another two weeks and we just got here five hours ago. Don't you want to relax a little, Britt?"
"Don't argue with me, Santana. You know I'll win." Brittany called through to her, laughing quietly when she hears her girlfriend groan in response.
"Fine, I'll finish the living room off. You owe me."
"Thanks baby. I love you." Brittany called out in a sing song voice. "You know I'll pay you back tonight."
"I'll be holding you to that. Also, I love you too."
The two women got to work at unpacking all of the boxes. Well, Brittany was a little more enthusiastic than her other half, nevertheless, it would take both of them to make the apartment what it was going to be – their home. Brittany could tell that this year would be a memorable one - she couldn't wait to figure out what's in store for them.
