I don't own the characters in this story, J.K. Rowling does. Dramione all the way -friendship or not-

He hadn't meant to follow; he really didn't, but when he caught sight of her running past him with tears streaking down her cheeks, something inside of him snapped and he had wondered what he did to her this time.

He followed her, barely but he was able to keep up with her, how did she get so fast all of a sudden? Shaking that from his mind he continued his pursuit to catch up to the crying girl who had finally settled with crying beneath a tree in a secluded part of a nearby forest.

Looking at the girl curiously, he took a step forward. Leaves and twigs snapping and rustling under his movements. Her head whipped up and he had to control himself from taking a step back in shock and to let it show on his features.

"W-what do you want?" Came her muffled reply as she wiped the tears from her eyes and tear stained cheeks. Nothing made sense to him as he looked down at her- Here she was. One of the strongest, bravest, smartest people he knew -aside from him self, of course- crying her heart out, he knew damn good and well that you could hear her sobs from a mile away, and an echoing forest amplified the sound more too.

And he also knew that it took a lot to make this girl cry, so... Why was she crying over a guy who wasn't smart, never payed any attention to her except for questions that he could easily ask his other best friend? He would never know what she saw in that Weasly.

Crouching down to get a better look at her, he tilted her chin up so she was looking at him straight in the eye, her once beautiful eyes were worn, tired, red, and sore from crying for so long.

"I want to help" he stated simply. She blinked and looked at him like he was crazy. But without a second thought she threw her arms around him and leaned into his chest and cried. Out of instinct he put his arm around her waist and the other in her hair and held her; He wasn't good with comforting people, girls especially.

He didn't know how long it has been, but now his back was against a tree with the crying girl in his lap, sobbing into his chest. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the tree; how would people react if they saw this? Shocked? Mad? Betrayed? Raged? Sad? or dare he think: Happy? No, his mother might be- thinking that something was going on.

The sobbing stopped so suddenly it was like it was never there in the first place, but a tear stained shirt confirmed that indeed- it had been there. Opening his eyes again he looked down at the girl, who was now laying comfortably on his chest. Her breathing calmed down and was now steady.

"Thank you, Draco..." She whispered breathlessly, a small real smile graced his lips for once. Not a smirk, not a grimace. A smile.

"You're welcome, Granger" was his simple reply as they fell into a comfortable silence.
