A foreling is a human who changes into a specific animal not chosen by that person. One of the most common foreling species is wolf, causing a common confusion between were-wolves and forelings. Forelings, however, can step into moonlight before midnight on any given night not lit by a full moon without transforming instantly. During full moons and after midnight, forelings change immediately with the first contact to moonlight, however slight it may be, and do not change back until dawn. When midnight strikes on the night of a full moon, the forelings change without warning. On any other night, forelings can avoid changing by staying out of direct moonlight, and even if they expose themselves to the point that they do change, they can change back after spending time out of the moonlight. Forelings are closely associated with change and nature, so all the changes and traits that profile forelings are stronger during autumn, since it is the greatest change in the earth. Foreling tendencies can appear in either gender, are not genetically passed, cover a wide range of species, and always reveal themselves during the foreling's time of puberty. Each foreling has an associated scent which allows them to locate and recognize one another over great distances with the proper training.

Also unlike were-wolves, forelings are always in control of their own actions. The beast into which one transforms does not take command while in animal form. However, there is a widely held belief among the forelings that the beast has no need to take control; it already has it.

A/N: So... this is the intro to one of my favourite stories I've brainstormed. In all honesty, you guys get a forward for this story and none of my others because I don't feel that I could smoothly write this much information into the story itself. However, now that this (pretty much useless) bit is out, I feel like I have to focus on focusing my attention on readying the next update, which is great for me, because I really want to write this one.

Anyway, I hope the description is interesting enough to earn some attention, because I will shortly be posting the prologue, which is a lot more interesting than just explaining why the characters get pissed everytime someone mentions were-wolves.
