Greetings.
Wait, that was too formal, wasn't it?
My name is Amy. Amy Pond. I have another name: Amelia Pond. But once an old friend told me it was too fairytale.
Never mind, let's get to the point.
The point of this letter to you is because I need to tell you about someone. About this old friend of mine.
I travelled a really long time with him. Not like roadtrips or anything. This one's a bit more peculiar.
We were like family, not friends.
His name is The Doctor. Believe it or not, he's a time-traveler!
It's true!
We were inseparable, like one friendship you had possibly in year five or year six.
Something happened to our friendship, though.
New York City. If I could remember, we were going on a small trip. He kept reading out loud and I got quite annoyed.
We didn't know, though. How the trip would turn out to frighten us so much.
The Angels. They were there. Everywhere.
I'm sure you know about The Weeping Angels. The Lonely Assassins. I fought them once.
But then something happened to Rory. My husband. The man I already chose.
I should've taken Rory to the TARDIS. Stop him from gazing at his tombstone.
He died. And I did too.
I left him.
I left my old friend.
Let me tell you something. When I was a wee girl, I stumbled upon The Doctor, dressed in raggedy clothes and his face covered in dirt. I took him to my house and he made me prepare fish fingers and custards.
What an odd man! I thought at first.
He left me for a while. Well, in his time it was 5 minutes, while in my time it was 10 years.
10 bloody years I waited for this raggedy man.
I forgave him though.
We had adventures together. Lots of them.
I met pirates, met Vincent Van Gogh, saved a whale in outer space, and met Hitler and much more.
The Doctor and I were stuck like glue and impossible to leave each other. Yeah, I got quite relieved because 10 years was nothing compared to the adventures I had with him.
I've also learned so many things as I travelled with this Raggedy Man.
You'll never know how many times he has saved our planet Earth.
You may be at home, probably in your bed or sitting on your easy chair, but you never know that in that moment The Doctor is trying to save planet Earth and trying to save it's population.
He's trying to save you right now, or maybe when you're at school or maybe when you're having a quiet dinner.
But don't worry; you might meet my old friend at the most random of times.
When you're in the kitchen or at your back garden, and your eyes spot a blue police box, my only advice is:
Run for it.
Go meet The Doctor.
Thank him.
And if you're lucky enough, he'll take you in his blue box for adventures. Who knows?
Amelia Pond x
