Winter's Night
Being this close to her girlfriend, Janine was almost grateful for the cold. Almost.

It was a harsh winter's day, so most of the army were gathered around a large fire to keep themselves warm. Some were bundled up in what little blankets they had in order to sustain warmth. A few individuals in the army had come down with a mild cold, causing them to find warmth by snuggling up to the closest person near them. Everyone in the army was tight knit so having one of them snuggle up to them for warmth didn't cause too much of a problem. There was a slight problem when Lissa cuddled up to the closest person near her, which happened to be Lon'qu. The swordsman had blushed profusely and yelled at her to move, but once she mumbled that she was cold, he had let out a rather dramatic sigh before wrapping an arm around the cleric.

Lucina watched each person with a wary gaze. She knew that one of these people was her father's murderer, but it was not clear to her yet which one of them was. She wrapped the blanket around her shoulders before letting out a puff of air. It was hard not being able to trust anyone within the army. She knew the future and that knowledge had to make her wary of every person that her father came in contact with.

The princess jumped a bit in surprise when she felt someone sit next to her, grab the blanket, wrap it around themselves, and nuzzle their face in her neck. At first, she was about to tell them to move, but when her blue eyes gazed upon light brown hair, her expression softened to one of affection. "Janine, are you cold?" she whispered against her petite companion's hair. Her response was a small nod before the tactician let out a rather loud sneeze. "Oh you poor thing." Lucina cooed as she gripped the woman's hand. It was a bit alarming how cold her girlfriend's hand was to touch. "Perhaps we should get someone to look at you?"

"Mmgh, no. I'm fine Luci." Janine's words came out as a bunch of mumbles, but somehow, the princess was still able to make sense of them. "I'm next to you and that's all I need to feel better."

Lucina felt her face heat up with a light flush as she wrapped her arm around the frail tactician and pulled her closer to her. "Has anyone ever mentioned to you that you're rather good at sweet-talking a woman?" The younger woman started giggling at that, causing Lucina to tilt her head. "Did I say something funny?"

"Hehe! Luci, you're such a goof." Lucina, at this point, was utterly confused, so Janine tried her best to clarify her meaning through a fit of giggles. "I'm not good at sweet-talking a woman. I'm just good at sweet-talking you. Try asking Virion; I practiced sweet-talking on him once and he said that I was a total failure at it."

The princess found herself giggling along with her girlfriend, and others around the fire gave them confused gazes before returning to talk amongst themselves. Chrom watched the pair with a knowing gaze and couldn't help the faint smile that stretched across his face. It was reassuring that he wouldn't have to worry about his daughter falling for some rouge. Janine was the furthest thing from that. She was a sweet, young, and innocent woman and the lord knew that Lucina couldn't have landed in better arms.
