When I was born, or should I say… reborn, I was the youngest of Seven. My elder "Siblings" were not so pleased about my presence inside the castle, nor were they too happy about the attention father gave me. I thought nothing of it, as even in life I had been an important child.

"Open up! We know you're in there!" A man shouted from somewhere in my dreams, that banging was getting annoying. What is he hitting?

Opening my eyes, some of the sleep around them crept in, stinging my eye. There was a man at my door and I knew he wasn't going to leave until I gave him what he wanted, which was usually money.

"I don't have it yet! Business is slow!" I shouted at him, my voice paining from the sudden vocalization.

"Don't tell me lies you slut! I've been watching! You should have earnt enough money by now" He shouted through my front door. Has he really been watching? It's not possible, he's lying.

"I'll bring it to you tomorrow, I promise!" I needed more time, I can't get payment during the day, and my customers only came at night. How was I going to get the remaining $2000?

I looked around my dingy apartment, there was a notice I'd been saving, hoping I'd never have to complete. The reward was $2500, enough to cover the debt and feed myself for a while. I took the notice from the board and stared at it. I didn't really want to do this, but my stomach rumbled in protest.

It was time.

Why is it always raining? Standing in the street like this, why does no-one help a poor woman in the freezing rain?

"Madame? Are you alright crossing this road? Goodness you must be terribly cold in the rain at this time of night. Where is your husband?" A young gentleman stopped by my side, looking at me with a pair of gorgeous blue eyes.

This one will do nicely

"My husband is dead and my children are missing, would you be so kind as to help me find them dear sir? They are all I have left" A blatant lie, but an affective one. This man was recently a child himself.

"My dear lady, I would be honoured to help find the children of such a fine woman" Flattery? Flattery? This poor soul, I feel terrible for what I am bout to do to him

"I thought I saw them run into that alley over there, I do hope they are ok" I feigned a look of worry and despair, as though I really did have lost children.

And with this in mind, the young man strode out into the road, determined on getting a poor widow her children back. I followed him swiftly across the road, dodging manure and other… things that lay in the mud.

He peered into the alleyway and using a simple shadow trick I managed to coax him into the alleyway, which at this point he turned and grabbed my hand. "Just in case" he said, flicking a smile at me. If my heart still beat it would have stopped. That smile… I have seen it before. I shook the thought away, plenty of men smiled at me. Why would this one be different?

As we entered the darkness of the alley, my Vampiric senses too over, I could see all in the alley way, dirt, rats, a cat in the garbage with her kittens. I looked the man up and down, and lunged. Teeth bared, claws ready to hold him down.
