.:Invisible By Day Dangerous By Night:.
.:Chapter Three: Failing!?:.
Mikan was with her friends, still fuming about the underwear incident. She couldn't believe Natsume would actually even say that out loud! She kept saying in her head that he was the biggest perverted jerk in the entire planet! No, let's rephrase that, The BIGGEST FATTEST MOST PERVERTED JERK IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!! There we go, I think that explains exactly what Mikan is thinking.
"Mikan, are you still mad?" Anna asked nervously since it was evident that she was very very mad.
"NO!" Mikan yelled at her and went back to glaring whatever was in front of her.
"H-Hotaru, what do we do?" Yuu and everyone else sweat dropped.
"Dunno." Hotaru shrugged with a stoic face.
"You're really helpful Hotaru, you know that?" Koko said sarcastically.
"Thanks for the compliment." Hotaru calmly walked away from Koko as he was being held by Yuu to stop him from beating her up.
"Mikan, calm down, please?" Nonoko walked by her. She got no answer.
"I'll see you guys later." Mikan mumbled angrily and stormed off down the street.
"And I thought she was cute." Koko said while Anna smacked him on the head with a big hammer which came out of no where.
Mikan stormed down the street into her favorite bookshop. Whenever she was angry or frustrated she would go see Chika if she was working. Chika has very long white hair that she always kept up in a high ponytail. Although she has white hair she is only 26 years old. You would always see her wise sea green eyes hidden behind her spectacles. Plus, you'd always find her wearing something plain. Mikan loved talking to her and asking her for advice since Chika's Alice is the Advice Alice, which helps make good decisions for others about 90 percent of the time.
Mikan went through the door with a slight bang which woke up Riku, who was sleeping at the counter. Riku was so startled that she flinched badly and caused the books on the counter to fall down on the light wood floor.
"M-Mikan-chan! W-What's the matter?" Riku asked as she picked up the books hastily and put them on the counter. Today Riku wore a red sun dress that went to her knees with a white sweater, unbuttoned, on top.
"I need to talk to Chika-san!" Mikan gritted through her teeth, still glaring at everything.
"Chika's at a coffee shop. Why? What happened? And boy, do you look adorable!" Riku clasped her hands in front of her face with hearts in her eyes, loving Mikan's cute look.
"Bye!" Mikan said angrily and left the store making the door bang open again.
Then a person came as he looked at the door. It was a door made of glass, and well, let's say, there might have been a crack. Okay, I won't lie, there was a very long crack coming from the knob to the top corner. The person raised an eyebrow curiously.
"What happened? Did you get robbed or something?" the person's voice was deep.
"Ah, Natsume-kun!" Riku flashed a bright smile at Natsume. "Do you know what's wrong with Mikan-chan?"
"Huh? Polka-dots? Dunno." Natsume shrugged and headed for the manga bookshelves.
"Ah, I see! Well, I'll be in the back if you need...any...thing..." Riku replayed what Natsume said in her mind. "POLKA-DOTS!? NATSUME! YOU DIDN'T-? YOU DIDN'T-? W-WITH M-MIKAN!?"
"What are you screaming about?" Natsume eyed her suspiciously. Then he understood. Riku thought that they did that. "Maybe." he smirked and went out the store, not buying anything, and leaving Riku standing there with her dark pink eyes wide as saucers, staring at the wall.
"Dammit! Which coffee shop?!" Mikan muttered to herself angrily. "Of all the days for you to go to a coffee shop!"
Everyone stared at her. Mikan was pretty much stomping and glaring at everything. Some thought she was cute, but scary at the same time. Well, apparently this didn't help her "invisible" character at all. Poor, Mikan. Any way Mikan kept stomping until she passed a shop and saw white hair sticking out from under an umbrella which shaded the table.
"Chika-san?" Mikan called out, hoping it was her.
"Mikan-chan? How are you?" Chika smiled nicely. Chika wore a long sleeved off the shoulder black shirt. To compliment it she put on a long white flowing skirt that reached her ankles with black one inch high heeled sandals. She had her hair in a long high ponytail showing off her pierced ears which were adorned with a white pearl followed by two black pearls.
"Chika-san! Help me!" Mikan said immediately.
"Eh? What happened Mikan-chan? Come sit down and we'll discuss it." Chika smiled politely.
"Mmh!" Mikan nodded and sat down on the white chair next to Chika. Mikan began telling her about what happened so far in her life. Chika didn't interrupt only with an occasional, "Describe it more". Chika occasionally nodded her head as she had her slender hands folded and her head resting on top of it.
"What should I do? Hyuuga-san looked at my underwear, and know I'm getting all the attention!" Mikan slumped in her chair. Her face looked up at the sky with chocolate eyes obviously showing her worry.
"Hmm...Mikan-chan, you said you made friends, correct?" Chika asked as she sipped her tea. Mikan nodded. "Is being invisible and looking plain a huge sacrifice to you?" Now, Chika was looking at her seriously.
"No, not really..." Mikan thought about it. Was being invisible really worth sacrificing to have friends? You probably say yes, but Mikan really needs to keep her abilities a secret.
"Well, then, I think I'm done doing my job." Chika said and took her black purse and swung it on her shoulder.
"Eh? B-But, what am I supposed to do?" Mikan asked her completely confused and surprised that Chika didn't answer her.
"I think you know the answer to that better than I do, Mikan-chan." Chika smiled at her and left with the check on the table. "Ja, Mikan-chan! Hope I see you at the store again!"
"Ja!" Mikan waved smiling brightly, but then once Chika was out of sight her hand slowly fell to her lap. "What do you mean I know the answer?"
Mikan sighed and got up. She left the shop and headed for the dorms to get her homework done. Luckily she didn't have any missions to do.
"Oi, Hotaru! Give that back!" a male voice shouted over the crowd while our inventor was on a scooter swerving past people easily.
"HOTARU!!" the male shouted again once he lost sight of her. He couldn't believe it, well, actually he could believe, but...Oh! (scowl) You know what I mean!
"Ruka!" called the male's best friend.
"Natsume! I thought you left?" Ruka said as he panted from the running.
"Why are you-? Let me guess, Imai got another pic?" Natsume smirked.
"W-What!? Of course not! You jump to conclusions to fast!" Ruka blushed. He was such a bad liar.
"What did she take?" Natsume sighed at his best friend's poor skills.
"N-Nothing!" Ruka turned a dark pink. Of all the pictures she could take, she takes that one! Ruka thought to himself.
"Hmm...She peeked into the secret room at the back of the pet store?" Natsume smirked as Ruka turned red.
"Shut up!" Ruka punched Natsume in the arm and glared at him, still red. "What about you and Sakura-san, huh?"
Natsume ignored Ruka's question and shoved his hands into his jeans and walked away. Ruka caught up with him and tried to look at Natsume's reaction. He couldn't believe that Natsume really didn't find her at all attractive. Well, maybe it's possible, but he knew there must be at least a little spec of it. He really needed a girlfriend and Ruka was determined to find him one ever since 2 years ago. Ruka remembers it as if it was yesterday.
Natsume was calmly lying on a tree branch of his favorite place: The Sakura tree. He had a Naruto manga on his face which made it seem like he was sleeping, but actually he was waiting for someone. Someone very special, and when I mean special I mean girlfriend.
Natsume was lying there waiting, but soon he figured out she was late. She was never late except for about 5 minutes. He began to worry. She never kept him waiting this long since she never wanted to upset him. Natsume thought she must have a bad hair day or something.
To him the girl was the most prettiest girl he's ever met. She had long bright blond hair with icy blue eyes. Her skin was a very white shade, almost like Snow White's. He would love to let everyone know she was his, but he was scared Persona might threaten her.
Now it's been 15 minutes. Now he was getting frustrated, but mostly worried. All of a sudden he heard voices from below. He took the book off his face and looked down. Through the cherry blossoms he saw his girl, but something was wrong. She was giggling in a flirtatious way. Natsume moved some of the branches to see what was going on. What he saw cracked his heart.
A boy with with red hair stood there in front of her flirting back with jokes and inching closer to her. Natsume watched where this was going. His girl kept giggling, which pissed him off, and the red head kept inching closer and making jokes, which made him furious. But, Natsume kept his Alice in control to avoid being caught and missing what was going on.
Everything happened so fast for Natsume. Next thing he knew was the red head was kissing her. If she was Natsume's girl then she would push back. Wrong. She grabbed the boy's hair, gripped it, and pulled him closer. This shattered his heart. He was so hurt he couldn't move. All he could do was watch her kiss him back and his hands roaming her body hungrily. Then they departed both smiling lustfully. Natsume sat there motionless and dead.
It soon started to rain. First a couple drops dripped on Natsume's cheeks, then it started to pour. He heard Ruka calling him, but all Natsume wanted to do now was be left alone and die. It felt like someone sucked all his emotions slowly to torture him and hadn't finished. All they left were two emotions. Loneliness and despair. Ruka kept calling him. Natsume then felt something warm instead of cold wetness dripping down his cheeks.
"Natsume! You here?" Ruka called out from below. He had a red umbrella with him. "Oi, Natsume!" No reply.
Ruka got pissed off since he sensed Natsume's presence on the tree. Ruka put the umbrella on the ground and began climbing. He climbed until he saw Natsume. What he saw shocked him. Natsume was gripping his hair with his hand with tears falling out of his eyes. It was almost impossible to tell if Natsume was crying or if it was the rain, but Ruka knew better.
"Natsume? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Ruka quickly climbed the rest of the way and came to Natsume's aid.
"Natsume? Natsume? Natsume! Answer me!" Ruka still got no replies. "ANSWER ME ALREADY!"
"S-She...She w-was...was..." Natsume said through tears.
"'She'? Who?" Ruka asked worrying about Natsume's condition. It had been 4 years since Natsume last cried.
"She cheated on me, Ruka!" Natsume still had tears, but now was mad. His crimson eyes burned with fiery that Ruka had never seen before.
"Wait! Her-? As in-?" Ruka was confused to who exactly hurt Natsume, but slowly he figured out who.
"Yes, her! The whore! The damn bitch!" Natsume yelled angrily with tears.
"Natsume..." Ruka was surprised at Natsume's rage. Natsume never swore, he was barely ever angry! He was always forgiving!
"No more! No more am I going to be nice! No more will I love someone! Life's a bitch! Life's shit! She's both!" Natsume yelled angrily in frustration. Ruka thought he was kidding, until the next day.
Natsume came down for breakfast. Everyone would usually be pleased to see Natsume's smiling face, but today was entirely the opposite. Natsume had a stoic face. Everyone started whispering to each other and asking what happened. Ruka couldn't believe it. No one could. Eventually everyone thought that Natsume woke up on the wrong side of the bed when...
"Natsume-kun! What's the matter? Grumpy again?" his girl hugged his arm and smiled brightly at him.
"Get off..." Natsume mumbled. No one could hear him clearly, but Ruka knew exactly what was going to happen.
"Eh? What'd you say, Natsume-kun?" the girl let go of his arm to look at him straight in the face.
"I said don't touch me, bitch!" Natsume pulled his arm away as she tried to grab it. Everyone gasped and the girl looked horrified. "It's over! Got that!?"
"W-What are you talking about-?" the girl stuttered, tears forming in her eyes.
"You're nothing but a whore! Got it? Now get out of my face before I burn your hair!" Natsume yelled at her.
The girl covered her mouth with her hand and ran away with tears sprinkling from her eyes. Natsume's bangs covered his eyes to avoid people looking into his eyes where all his emotions were showing. Natsume shook his head and held his head high and calmly walked to the table where Ruka was at the Triple Star table. He wasn't supposed to sit there, but Ruka knew this wasn't the time to complain to him.
Ruka kept saying in his head that he changed. The old Natsume never came back. Maybe only a small smile to him and Yoichi, but that only lasted for a second. Ruka still wanted Natsume to be happy, not to suffer from that day still. He also couldn't believe that sweet girl could break his heart this badly. She was so sweet, and yet, she was a whore.
"Ruka, what are you thinking about?" Natsume said to break the silence which got on his nerves since Ruka rarely became silent for this long.
"Oh! Nothing!" Ruka smiled assuringly. "Maybe you should go on a date-"
"No." Natsume immediately said at the word 'date'.
"Come on! Just one?" Ruka begged.
"No, and that's final!" Natsume slightly yelled. "Uh...Sorry, Ruka. I'm gonna go."
"Wait! Natsume!" Ruka called out as Natsume left. "Jeez, you're really an ahou."
BANG! BANG!
"Mmmh..." Mikan rolled over on her bed and covered herself with the white sheets.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Urusai!" Mikan shouted as she put the pillow over her head.
"MMMMIIIIIIKKKKKAAAAAAANNNN!!" shouted three people.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!" Mikan yelled as she sat up. Her hair was all frizzy and tangled.
"Open up this door or I'm gonna break it!" yelled a familiar voice.
"...Oh no." Mikan's eyes grew wide.
BOOM!
"M-My door..." Mikan sweat dropped as the door fell to the ground. At the door frame stood Hotaru with her Baka Cannon No.4 and the rest of the gang who sweat dropped.
"Get up or you'll be late." Hotaru narrowed her eyes slightly at her.
"H-Hai..." Mikan nervously got up.
She quickly left for her bathroom and got dressed. She came out with her hair in two low ponytails and her face, now, without glasses. She wanted to keep her signature since she got so used to having her hair tied. Mikan quickly left the room with the gang as they all walked down the stairs to breakfast.
As usual Hotaru and Yuu went to the Special Star table, Nonoko and Anna went to Triple, while Mikan and Koko sat at the Double Star table. When they entered all the guys and girls had eyes on Mikan whispering who she was and etc. Mikan was nervous like never before. Her mind raced with stupid comments and things that people might think of her. Koko read her mind since she was so busy being nervous she forgot to put up her Alice.
"Don't worry! Everyone will love ya! Like me!" Koko smiled widely and wrapped a hand around her shoulder. Mikan blushed lightly and glared at the arm on her shoulder. Next thing you know it was caught on fire. "Bwaah!" Koko quickly withdrew and ran looking for some water.
"Sexual harasser." the person who set fire to the arm said. Mikan turned around and saw Natsume with his crew. Ruka at his left, Mochu at his right, the rest were Yoichi and some other dudes. They were about to leave when...
"He is not a sexual harasser, you perv!" Mikan yelled at him. Everyone gasped and quickly turned towards Natsume since they knew he was going to burn her, no matter how cute she was.
"I've never done anything perverted stupid. Why would you think of something like that, little girl?" Natsume looked at her with no emotion whatsoever.
"What!?" Mikan's vein popped out. "Who the hell are you calling a little girl, you stupid fucking asshole?!" Mikan yelled. Now everyone thought she was definitely in trouble.
"Asshole?" Natsume's vein popped out. "You know little girl's like you should watch their language!" Natsume glared at her.
"How can you call me little girl when we're the same age you sleezy jerk?!"
"It's because you are little you ugly moron!"
"Ahou!"
"Baka!"
Baka! Baka!
"What is all this bickering about?" Hotaru shot them with her Baka Gun. Each had a lump on their head.
"He/She started it!" both of them pointed at each other childishly.
Baka! Baka!
"Knock it off and get to class already!" Hotaru hit them again with a vein pulsing. She thought that Natsume would act more maturely about this than Mikan, but apparently not.
"Tch." Natsume got up from the floor and left.
"Hmph." Mikan stuck out her tongue at him when he wasn't facing her. He turned around with a glare and Mikan looked away looking innocent.
"T-They're scary aren't they?" Yuu sweat dropped nervously along with everyone else in the cafeteria.
"Something tells me it's going to get a lot worse." Nonoko said with Anna by her side.
"What's the matter, Hotaru?" Anna asked as she looked at Hotaru who was looking at where Natsume left.
"Nothing." Hotaru smiled a little but then disappeared. The guys who saw it blushed. "And you! Are you trying to pick a fight with him?!" Hotaru pointed her gun directly at Mikan's forehead.
"Gulp B-But, he started it!" Mikan nervously said.
"No buts! We're leaving for class." Hotaru put away her gun and dragged Mikan by the elbow.
"But I haven't eaten yet! Hotaru!" Mikan cried. Everyone pitied her, but the guys only fell for her.
"Oi! What are you guys waiting for? The world to end?" Hotaru called out to them as they stared at the situation. They snapped out of it and ran to catch up with Hotaru and a crying Mikan.
Class began with the substitute. Everyone joked around laughing. Some of the girls gossiped or came up to Natsume and spilled out comments to him. Mean while Mikan wasn't sitting next to Natsume but sat with Hotaru for a while and watched her as she used her Inventing Alice. Mikan was impressed asking questions every now and then. Most of the guys were with Mikan and the other girls in the group since they were now known as the "Hottest Chicks" in the Middle School Division.
"So, what was your name again, cutie?" a guy who sat behind her asked.
"Sakura Mikan." Mikan said oblivious to the fact that all the guys were flirting with her.
"Eh! Mikan-chan, huh? Kawaii!" all the guys had hearts in their eyes at how adorable and innocent Mikan was.
"Neh, neh, when's your birthday?" another asked.
"January 1st." Mikan said smiled politely.
"How about your Alice?"
"Nullification."
"What class are you in?"
"Special Ability."
"What about-"
"Everyone to your seats!" yelled Mikan's worst teacher, Jinno-sensei. Everyone rushed to their seats.
"Now, we'll have a quiz! I hope you all studied! Especially you Sakura!" Jinno glared at Mikan while Mikan sweat nervously.
"Pencils out, no cheating, and Alices are absolutely forbidden! Understood?" Jinno whacked his pointer on his palm and sparks of electricity flew out of it. "Now...BEGIN!"
Everyone quickly began to write the answers and solving the problems, except Mikan. She was stuck on the very first one.
'Okay, next one.' Mikan weakly smiled to herself. The next one she still didn't get. 'Uh...Next!' She kept going to the next one until she ran out of problems. 'Uh oh.'
"STOP! Pencils down! Please come up and hand me your paper and leave the class while I grade them! Don't make any noise in the hallway or detention!" Jinno's pointer once again sparked. One by one the students nervously gave Jinno their paper and left the class. Mikan gave her paper and quietly went to Hotaru.
"Hotaru! I failed!" Mikan hugged her tightly and whined while everyone was shocked at what she did. No one did that to Imai Hotaru.
"Sigh This is the last time I'm letting you hug me. Got it? The last time I'm comforting you." Hotaru said and patted her head while Mikan cried softly.
After a while Jinno came out of the room and one by one called the students in. Some came out with a relieved face, some came out with pale faces. Or in Hotaru's case, came out with a blank face. Mikan was finally called. She gulped loudly and slowly came in through the door.
"Sit down, Sakura." Jinno said and she sat in the chair that was in front of his desk. "Sakura, you're grades in everything else is okay, but how can you fail math!?"
"F-Fail? I-I'm failing!?" Mikan said nervously.
"Yes you are. I have no choice but to fail you." Jinno said seriously.
"P-Please Jinno-sensei! Don't fail me! Give me all the detentions you want, but don't fail me!" Mikan begged.
"Unless someone will tutor you." Jinno's eyes softened a bit.
"Then Ho-" Mikan smiled brightly at the thought of Hotaru or Yuu tutoring her.
"No, Sakura. I'll be choosing your tutor. Unless you want to fail?"
"N-No! You choosing will be the best thing to do!" Mikan laughed nervously.
"Then it's settled. You may leave and at the end of the school day I'll tell you who will tutor you." Jinno said.
"Hai!" Mikan left the class and all the guys crowded around her before her friends could get to her.
BAKAN! BAKAN!
"How did it go?" Hotaru said calmly as she used her Baka Canon No. 8 on the guys.
"Unless my tutor will make my grades rise I'll fail." Mikan's head fell down.
"WE'LL HELP YOU MIKAN-CHAN!" All the guys got up and said it all at once.
"No. It won't be any good. Jinno-sensei is going to choose my tutor." Mikan said, but smiled brightly. "Thanks for asking though!"
They waited for their other classes to start. Once they ended the intercom buzzed and a voice was heard.
"Sakura Mikan report to the principle's office. I repeat, report to the principle's office." and it buzzed off. Mikan gulped and got up from her seat and headed towards the door.
Mikan got out and walked down the hallway towards the principle's office. The last time she walked down this hallway was when they told her she'd be doing work for the Academy. She didn't want to do it, but the Elementary principle scared her. Later when Hii-sama was the principle she enjoyed more of the work since she wouldn't let Persona hurt her a lot. She found her nice really, but why she hates men she'll never know.
Mikan knocked on the door. It was a double door and very ancient looking. A very gentle yet strong voice told her to come in. Mikan turned the knob down and went in. Inside was a very elegant room. The walls were painted white with wood halfway up. Everything else was made with wood and looked very ancient. At the very front was a desk that looked the most oldest with Hii-sama in her kimono and fan, sitting gracefully as always. The large window behind her let the sun shine through it and it glowed on Hii-sama, making her look like a goddess.
"Mikan no Kimi, sit down." Hii-sama said softly without any emotion.
"Hai." Mikan went to the front and sat in front of her. "What is wrong, Hii-sama?"
"Jinno came to confirm me with your grades."
"Sumimasen." Mikan bent her head low.
"No, it is not your fault. No one is perfect, but you know you will have a tutor, yes?"
"Yes, but I do not know who."
"Jinno, come in please." Hii-sama called and Jinno came into the room. "Tell Mikan no Kimi who her tutor shall be."
"Sakura, your tutor shall be..." Jinno said with no emotion. "Hyuuga Natsume."
"Hyuuga...Natsume...?" Mikan slowly repeated then her eyes grew wide. "Any other person except him!" Mikan slammed her hands on Hii-sama's desk. "A-Ah, gomenasai." Mikan sat back down.
"Yes, I also do not favor your tutor to be a man, but it will help you to get to know him better and get comfortable so you can do better at teamwork." Hii-sama said unaffected by Mikan's behavior.
"But, Hii-sama, I do not need to know teamwork. I can do just fine all by myself." Mikan said looking at her principle.
"Mikan no Ki- No, Mikan, you do not understand since you've never experienced it, but, at least do this for me. For the school. For everyone who is an Alice on this planet."
"Hii-sama..." Mikan sighed. "I understand. Sorry for wasting your time." Mikan got up and bowed. Then she left through the doors.
"Sigh That girl is becoming more and more like her parents." Hii-sama said.
"Yes, she is, but what if she finds out about her parents?" Jinno asked with a worried expression.
"That is none of mine, or yours, or anybody elses business. What she decides to do is what makes her most happy, I will not stop her. Now, you may leave, Jinno." Hii-sama said.
"Hai." Jinno left the room.
"Sakura Mikan, will you create your own path, or will you follow your family's?" Hii-sama said as she looked out the window.

A/N: Yay! I got to finish this chapter! I'll try my best to do chapters really fast, but it won't be easy. Any way just be patient and be happy that this one even came out O.O.
