What a day, I'm so tired!

The two of them, Danny and Vlad, had been sitting in silence for awhile as neither of them knew what to say to the other. Vlad was unsure about the boy's feelings towards getting the letter and it was heartbreaking knowing that the boy would probably never even talk to him again. Time passed them by and both sat in silence and neither of them bothered to say a word. Well, what was there to say now? The boy knew now he wasn't born alone or dumped in an orphanage all alone. But Danny was upset not knowing about a twin brother who was probably making a better life for himself unlike him. Danny looked at the letter again for the fifteenth time. He was getting bored reading it over and over again but he could not help but be drawn to it, like there was something missing from the letter. But what was it?
"Danny, your food will get cold soon. I'm sure it must be cold by now." Vlad's suggestion for food didn't even give Danny a budge at all.
The boy still sat there looking at the letter while Vlad got up from his comfy chair and picked up the plate with the pizza slices on it. A smile grew on the man's lips as he picked a slice off the plate and took a bite from the tip. "If that's the way you feel, I'll take them." Vlad took another bite and watched Danny's face for any sort of reaction.
But the boy was staring into space and was not even listing to a word he was saying. He seemed to be transfixed on the letter in his fingers. Vlad put down the plate of pizza as he knew he would not enjoy them as much as he would if Danny was not so depressed about getting the letter. "If this is a silent treatment, I'm not buying it for a minute, Danny! You've been holding the letter for twenty minutes now. I really am sorry about not giving you the letter sooner but…the least you could do is thank me!" Vlad didn't feel like storming out on his only son but there was no way he would get Danny's attention otherwise. He hated confronting his son so atrociously.
"You could have just kept your mouth shut about this letter. Things were great without this letter…" Danny turned the letter over and saw the name written rather scribbled.
'Harry?' Danny looked puzzled as he read the name again. Who was this person? Vlad came back in, with slumped shoulders.
"Danny, there's still more I have to tell you." Vlad took a seat beside Danny on the steps and glared at the letter in Danny's hands.
Danny began to think carefully as to how much more there could be compared to what he had just told him. "Like what? Haven't you said enough?" Vlad looked down sadly at his son and patted the boy's back with his hand. "You're name isn't Danny, son. It's Harry. Harry Potter was your original name. They…split you and your brother up because of the real reason behind your being abandoned at that orphanage. I'm not really who I say I am, but I am your father, Danny. Have you ever thought about magic?"
The boy looked at Vlad questioningly and asked, "You mean like magic tricks?" Vlad shook his head and continued. "I mean real magic, wands and pets to accompany you on your trip to a fantastic school! You'll probably think I'm crazy for saying this but…I'm a wizard, Danny. Never used my wand in a long time so I'm not sure if I still have it in me to be using it again but, I hope you won't be too scared of your heritage." Vlad pulled over his vest and pulled out a long, brown wand with bumpy edges on the sides.
"You weren't kidding when you said you had a wand. Is it real?" Danny asked as he touched it cautiously.
"Of course, I wouldn't lie…" Vlad trailed off and noticed he was about to say something of which he had already been doing for the past 14 years of young Danny's life.
Danny chuckled and got up from the stair step. "There's no way, in hell that you're a wizard and I know what you're getting at, dad. You're going to say that I'm a wizard too, right?" Vlad smiled up at his son as the boy glared at him in return.
"Glad to see you're accepting your role for life!" Vlad disregarded Danny's glares and got up from the step, hugging Danny in the process.
But Danny wasn't at all into the father-son life as Vlad wanted him to be into and instead of rejoicing with his adoptive father, Danny merely pried his father's hands off of his body and stomped up to his room, intending to go to his room for the night, forgetting all about his hunger and the letter in general. He didn't care if the whole world was about to collapse, Danny was not up for listening to such crazy things from his own father. First a fire ghost blazes his house to the ground then he finds out he's actually an abandoned kid from an orphanage and now he was finding out that he was a wizard. On top of it all, he now had a twin brother, Adrian. 'What could possibly be next?' Danny asked himself in his mind as he shut the door to his dark room off from the entire world and lay down on his bed to get some rest.
Back downstairs, Vlad was feeling rather opened with himself that he could talk with his son after so long, he now had the chance to prove to Danny that he was a wizard. The man held his old wand in one hand while he walked along the railing and up the stairs to Danny's room. He smiled and walked in quietly. He hated to sneak around his own son's room like this but if the boy did not believe by hearing, he would by seeing it. Vlad stuck out his long wand and pointed it at his son, apologizing with his eyes as he said the words in his mind and flicked his wand with his wrist in a swift motion.
Danny's bed shook and his body shone a bright green light all around which caused the boy to snap his eyes open. "Dad, what's going on?" Vlad and Danny both watched as Danny's body transformed into the body of a white mouse.
Danny's once normal ears had now turned into small, round and fuzzy ears of that of a mouse. Even the boy's voice had changed to nothing but a series of squeaks. Vlad could imagine what his son would say if he saw himself now. He knew the boy would just shake his head in shame and let out a sigh. Vlad flicked his wand again and Danny was normal as he was before becoming a mouse.
"Now do you see, son? You're a wizard just like me! I'll teach you everything about our world!" Danny was not listening. His mind was elsewhere on another matter.
If the man knew that he was a wizard, then why did he not send him to 'their world' in the first place, save him from the torment of grieving over his dead family? Here he was, wasting his life away over a family he had not even been born into so why the heart ache of not knowing about your own people? Vlad could see that the boy did not fully grasp the situation as he had wanted him to.
"If you're thinking about going, Danny…I won't stop you." Danny was shocked to hear such a thing come from his father. The man had always wanted him to stay so close to home and to never wander off to anywhere suspicious and now…he was letting him go like he didn't matter.
"Dad…you're not serious are you?" Danny hated seeing his father unhappy about other things but this was getting beyond the word 'normal'.
It was proven that Vlad was letting him go live a life all on his own to be somewhere he knew he would probably never fit in just like he knew he couldn't fit in the normal world. Now he would be facing new people and especially, if it was possible, his brother. The letter never mentioned what happened to his brother Adrian only that they had been separated at childhood.
"Who knows, you might make a few friends. You don't know anymore than I do." Danny nodded slowly but did not look up from looking at the floor.
Vlad smiled warmly and patted the boy on the back like he did so many times before when the boy was younger and much more mischievous.
A/n: And that's it for this one, sorry but next time, we see him at Hogwarts, oh yEAH!
