Alexis's Point of View, (phone convos in italics)
"Okay, Kate. I was wondering if maybe, if you want to, maybe you could adopt me as you daughter?" I ask, hoping she will.
"Yes, I'd love to, but have you talked to your mom about this?"
"Not yet, I was going to wait untill I asked you."
"Well, talk to your mom, okay?"
"Okay." Kate leaves, I pull out my phone.
"Hello?" My biological mom says.
"Merideth?" I know I'm taking a huge leap calling her by her first name, but I'm taking a huge leap anyway.
"Yeah, Alexis. What's up?"
"Could you sigh some adoption papers."
"Excuse me?" Merideth pauses, "You want her to be your legal mother?"
"Yeah." I say in a small voice.
"Why?"
"I'm more like her."
"I know, strong, beautiful, and smart," Merideth breathes out a long sigh, "Send them to my address, I'll sign them."
"Thank you."
"Yeah, bye kid."
"Bye." Click.
