The Acqui Division
"Germany! It hurts!" Italy sobbed, clutching at the blonde nation's shirt.
"I know, liebe…It will end," he promised, tears running down his face as well. Italy cried out again, holding the very nation doing this to him ever closer. Italians were being massacred by the thousands…by Italy's former ally, Germany. Germany grieved for the smaller nation, pulling him in tighter.
Italy was in pain…and there was nothing he could do. Nothing he could do to stop the brutal murder of Italy's people. Germany knew the pain his lover was experiencing; every nation felt it at some point, especially during a war such as this one.
The normally cheerful, bubbly nation let out another tortured scream.
It killed Germany inside to see his Italy in such a state. Another tear trailed down his cheek as he promised revenge on his leader.
The pair did not know how long they stayed together, whether it was hours or days or weeks. Italy knew only the pain, the pain and his Germany, his Germany he knew was nearly as pained as he at Italy's state. Germany's cries mingled with Italy's at times, when the grief and the piece of him that couldn't help but feel that this was right, that the Italians should be massacred tore at him the same way the guns tore at the Italian soldiers.
Germany's own self repulsed him. These were his people, heartlessly killing innocent Italians with the wholehearted feeling that what they were doing was good. It was vile; it was a feeling he shared. It was not by choice, but there was no denying that a horrible, terrible part of him wanted Italy, Italy that laughed and sang and bubbled with happiness and childish innocence, dead.
Even after the last of the Italians fell, the two nations grieved together. Tears and broken sobs mixed together at the loss of Italy's precious citizens. Eventually, the two fell asleep by each other's side, exhausted, with tearstained cheeks and anguish filling their hearts.
…Wow. That was…really depressing. Never thought my first posted thing would be non-humor. Holy crap, researching that was so frickin' sad! This is based on a real WWII event, the massacre of the Italian Acqui division. After Italy, like…switched sides or something, they did something (I was kinda half-asleep, it was Puddinghead's siesta time…) and the Germans killed about 5,000 Italians. Here's the Wikipedia article if you don't want my super-duper crappy explanation:

Oh, and I apologize for the bad title, I couldn't think of much else… Review?
