Aight y'all, lemme just get something straight right now before I get any further into this story: Jade is NOT going to kill herself.
I just think that it's something that Jade would do considering how she is presented in the show.
Love y'all

P.S. The Song Island by The Starting Line is inspiring me when it comes to this story.
Chapter 2: A Preposition
What the hell was Jade supposed to with blurry images and a goddamn seashell?
She had decided that some higher power was working against her and to stop trying to kill herself. She'd thrown her razor into the forest and had lit her suicide note on fire before setting it on the ground and stomping out the flames.
Jade had pulled an all-nighter driving back to Hollywood. She had arrived at the driveway to her house before she shook her head and gunned the engine and left, fuck that. She wasn't going to be knocked unconscious tonight. No, she'd go somewhere else. She'd decided to invite herself over to Cat's house in order to avoid her dear-old-daddy.
Jade knew the redhead wouldn't mind if she came over unexpectedly. That's why the pair of girls were best friends. She did send her a warning text to which Cat replied 'Kay Kay'.
Jade rolled into the driveway and just as she put the shifter in park there was a hard banging on the driver's window. Jade jumped and turned around her mouth open to cuss out the mysterious tapper when she saw it was a very concerned looking Cat.
Jade gave a heavy sigh and exited the car. She barely got to close the door when she was tackled by a very strong redhead. God, Cat was a lot stronger than she looked.
Cat noticed Jade's strained look and she loosened her death grip to the point where it was only a mild-asphyxiation grip instead. Cat pushed Jade back against the car and held her at arms length soaking in the Goth's seemingly unharmed appearance.
Cat looked up at the much taller girl with a confused look, "But I thought you were…" Cat trailed off, looking at her bright pink shoes in sadness.
"Well, I didn't, did I?" Jade's voice was sharp and it caused Cat to flinch and Jade immediately felt sorry.
Jade sighed and decided to lighten the mood, "Cat, how did you get so strong?"
Cat looked up, her brown eyes changing from sadness to happiness in, well, in the blink of an eye.
"Insanity workout! Forty-five minutes a day, five days a week!" Cat giggled prettily and grabbed Jade's hand leading her into the well lit house.
As Jade was sucked in the normalcy of Cat's family (excluding her brother), she decided she wasn't going to tell Cat about the mermaid that saved her. Jesus Christ, it even sounded re-damn-diculous in her head.
She would find the fish on her own and, really, how much help could Cat be? Jade loved the girl, but she wasn't the brightest crayon in the box.
Cat and Jade retired to the redhead's overly bright room when they had finished their dinner.
They both changed into their pajamas; Jade having to borrow some of Cat's ugly pink flannel pajamas.
Cat hopped on top of the bed and crossed her legs, patting the stop across from her indicating where Jade was to sit. The Goth sighed for what seemed like the millionth time that day and mentally prepared herself for the Spanish Inquisition.
"Are you gonna tell me what he-" Cat sounded like she was about to cuss be she gave an odd look and shook her head, scolding herself it seemed, "what the heck you were trying to do?"
"Sure. I was trying to kill myself." Jade took a sip of her milk that Cat had given her. She loved milk almost as much as she loved coffee.
Cat shoved Jade's shoulders roughly giving her a meaningful glare, "Why would you do that?"
Jade almost fell off of the bed. She clawed at the yellow and pink comforter beneath her in order to keep herself anchored to the small bed she was perched on.
"Don't you know how much I love you! How much we love you? Do you realize how I feel if you died? We've been friends since before elementary school!" Cat smacked Jade in the back of the head.
"What the f-" Jade rubbed the back of her head and was about to continue when Cat's shrill voice cut her off again.
"I would feel like… like…" Jade became amused at Cat's frustration in searching for the right word, "I would feel like SHIT!"
Jade felt her jaw go slack and her eyes widened as she took in the redhead's appearance. There Cat sat with her nostrils flaring, her eyes glistening from unshed tears, and her stuffed tiger that Jade had gotten her for her ninth birthday clutched to her chest.
"Cat, I-" And Caterina Valentine lost every ounce of bravery and conviction she had in her and she gave Jade the fiercest hug ever.
Cat cried into Jade's shoulder and Jade absentmindedly stroked her beautiful hair. They sat there embracing and talking with each other until about 2:30 in the morning when Cat finally passed out from exhaustion.
Jade stood up stripping the disgustingly pink pajamas off of her body and donning her familiar white t-shirt, leather jacket, and black skinny jean ensemble.
Jade left the house leaving her best friend sleeping contently. She didn't know where she was going. She was just driving aimlessly to some obscure destination.
Jade was humming to her music when she began to smell the sea spray. It was refreshing and its potent smell aroused her blurry senses. Her exhaustion was pushed into the back of her mind as she exited her Mustang and walked towards the surf.
She was lucky that the beach was deserted for whatever planned on doing. Whatever it was, she was sure she was going to make herself look like a fool. She walked towards the pier standing about twenty feet off to the right of it. The waves crashed against the pillars making the old wood creak loudly.
The Goth looked up at the starry sky over head wondering what possessed her to come out to the beach to do something foolish at such and unholy hour. Jade rubbed small circles into the white shell in her hand her anxiousness obvious. It was slightly smaller than her palm and she clutched it tightly.
"So, what now? Do I toss this into the sea and you'll come riding a twenty foot wave on the back of two dolphins or some cliché shit like that? Do I have to perform a ritual or something?" Jade growled out at the water, narrowing her eyes out into the open ocean.
Jade was turning around when she heard a very musical laugh. Jade moved towards the sounds and saw the mysterious woman leaning against a pillar that supported the jetty.
"Or you know, you could just say hello. I believe that would've sufficed." She stood naked as the day she was born.
She seemed to have no flaws. Her long brunette hair was parted down the middle, covering her naked breasts. Her chocolate strands flowed thickly down to her pronounced hips in damp waves. Small particles of sand and shell collected in her hair giving her a carefree beach look. The mermaid's skin was beautifully tanned and there were obviously no tanlines.
Her eyes were almond shaped and they were the color of the brown cockle shell and they had amused glint to them. As if she knew something Jade didn't. Boy, was that feeling unsettling. Her cheekbones were sharp and pronounced. Her lips were now curled into a mischievous smile directed at Jade.
Her body was long and slender; however, she was slightly stacked with lean muscle. Jade studied her for a bit longer looking for gills, scales, something!
"Tried to kill yourself again?" They honey voice asked it almost sounded as if she was teasing the Goth.
Jade replied with a biting tone, "The idea hasn't left my mind yet."
Those lips gave a slight pout now, it was adorable. "Oh, Jade, it can't be that bad, can it?"
Jade was shocked when the creature knew her name, but chose to ignore it for now, "It is. I'm done with trying to be happy. I don't even know why I'm having this conversation with myself right now, since you're obviously a figment of my imagination."
"Dear Neptune, you better not be one of those people. Are you really that naive that you think there isn't other intelligent life on earth than humans? I'm real. Scout's honor!" The mermaid held up three fingers in a salute. She advanced towards Jade, she was just a few inches shorter than the Goth. "Want to touch me?"
Jade blushed and shook her head vigorously, "No! No, no. Look, what do you want?"
"I want humans to stop polluting my oceans."
"Jesus, I meant from me. What do you want from me?" Jade sat down on the sand hugging her knees to her chest.
The woman sat down next to Jade her legs spread in a V. She was not modest, that was for sure.
"I want you to realize that life could be a whole lot worse and that killing yourself isn't the answer. That's why I saved you."
"You could've saved anyone. Why me?"
"Look. Enough questions. I have a proposition for you." She began playing with her hair combing her fingers through it and getting rid of the bits of shell.
Jade mostly out of curiosity more than anything answered, "What is it?"
"A week. I should stay on land with you and convince you in a week's time why life is worth living. If I don't, I'll leave and you can do whatever pleases you," she waved a hand as if she didn't think it would come to that, "If I do, you have to swear you won't mutilate yourself in anyway."
Jade somehow felt the weight of taking an oath with the mermaid and that she would collect if the oath was broken. Jade looked at the brunette still playing happily with her hair and humming innocently, she had no idea what she was getting herself into.
"Okay. One week. Can I ask why?"
The brunette clamored to her feet slightly unsure of her walking capabilities and looked down at Jade.
"Mermaids have guided lost souls for thousands of years. Now whether the soul is lost physically or emotionally, in a case such as yourself, doesn't matter. I'm just doing what comes naturally. Use your internet or something if you want to know more. I'll confirm whether or not the information is correct."
Jade shook her head and stood facing the mermaid, "What should I call you?"
The mermaid tilted her head to the side and thought for a moment, "I met Queen Victoria once; she insisted I call her 'Tori'."
"Tori it is. How'd you met Queen Victoria, saving another lost soul?" Jade raised her hand and put 'lost soul' in air quotes.
"More like trying to save myself from a net. That's not important. Come along, I only have a week to save you. Let's not waste time, Sailor Bold."
And so Jade drove to her house with a mermaid in her car and strange new memory to put in her safe in the back of her head.
