Part 20: Showdown in Little Jump City
The area was completely deserted because the people had fled earlier. The Titans were welcomed by the presence of the ones that caused it.
"A walking pile of bricks."
"A giant zit."
"And a powered up circuit board."
Those were the words of the (bored) Zodiac Knights (Pluto, Draco and Shadowcobra).
"Cinderblock, Plasmus and Overload," Robin summarized for them.
Draco placed his hands on his hips. "Geez! Talk about dull!" Draco said.
Shadowcobra took a side glance at his friend, arms crossed. "At least they're monsters. The only Mirror Dimension monsters we've fought lately were those Gigazelles if I remember correctly."
"And the Daddy Long Legs I took down the first time I got here," Draco added.
Pluto was busy stretching his limbs. "I don't know about you guys, but three monsters are as good as any bad ass monster. I say we take em' down," Pluto told his friends casually.
Draco and Shadowcobra both nodded, "Agreed."
The rest of the Titans, who were prepared to take down the monstrous trio (Overload, Plasmus and Cinderblock), were a bit surprised at how casual their new teammates, the Zodiac Knights (Pluto, Draco, and Shadowcobra) were looking at the situation.
"How can they be so calm about this?" Robin said, alert as always.
Jinx interjected, "Draco told me they've been fighting monsters from the Mirror Dimension for a couple of years now. They're just used to it I guess."
"Even so, we must not let our new friends fight alone," Starfire said worriedly.
"Starfire, I think they want to fight alone," Raven said to her.
The Knights ran towards the monstrous trio and summoned their armors.
"ZODIAC FORCE!"
"DRAGON!"
"DOG!"
"SNAKE!"
And prepared for battle.
Shadowcobra had summoned his Zodiac Beast, Genosnaker. Pluto summoned Cerberus, and Draco summoned Dragonzer.
Genosnaker was a giant purple cobra. Its lengthened body was three times Shadowcobra's height
Cerberus, as its name implied, was a three-headed dog.
Dragonzer, the red dragon, soared in the air, roaring, awaiting a command from its master.
The three monsters roared, charging at the Zodiac Knights. One monster took on one Knight.
The fights were as followed:
Draco VS Plasmus
Pluto VS Cinderblock
Shadowcobra VS Overload.
Beast Boy and Cyborg sat on the sidelines at a table. They were both dressed as sports commentators with microphones and earphones.
"Here's the fight of the century! The Zodiac Knights VS The Monstrous 3!" Beast Boy commented, in classic sports commentators style.
"This is anybody's game dawg! But mah money's on the Knights!" Cyborg added.
"Agreed, Cy!"
The rest of the Titans were watching the Knights with either utter amusement or worried.
"Go guys, go!" Terra was pumping her fists, cheering on the Knights.
Starfire was holding up two Starbolts like they were pom-poms and dancing around in the air cheering, "Go friends! Fight those three monsters, but do not die!"
Jinx was screaming at Draco, "Don't let your guard down for one second, Draco, or the date's off!"
Raven had her arms crossed and was acting impassive. Although, she was giddy from watching the Knights, especially Shadowcobra fight.
Draco leapt out of the way and dodged one of Plasmus' acidic spits. He watched as the sidewalk sizzled and bubbled as the substance made contact.
"Dude! Get a breath mint!" Draco teased as he drew a card from his belt and inserted it into his gauntlet.
"Trap Vent-Spiderwebs!" Draco fired silver streams of webbing at Plasmus, holding him still. However, the monstrous pile of goo merely phased through the webbing, rendering it useless.
"Okay, that didn't work." Plasmus roared and punched Draco in the face, sending the dragon knight flying into a nearby window. Draco used this chance to phase through the reflective surface, and then reappearing behind Plasmus from another window. Plasmus turned around, surprised, and then started spitting streams of acid at Draco. Draco dodged the first stream and inserted a card into his gauntlet.
"Speed Vent!" Draco's speed and agility increased as he started doing summersaults over the streams of acid, taunting Plasmus. Plasmus tried to fire another stream, but it dissipated from a mighty stream of fire. Draco looked up and gave his dragon a thumbs up. Dragonzer replied with a mighty roar as it spewed fireballs at Plasmus.
Draco drew two cards, and then looked at them smiling. He inserted both cards and prepared for his weaponry
"Guard Vent-Double Dragon Shields!" A pair of red shields appeared and attached themselves to Draco's shoulders. "Sword Vent-Dragon Flame Saber!" A saber appeared and Draco grabbed it. He was more than prepared now to take down Plasmus.
"Alright you walking pile of crud! You're so going down!" Draco yelled a battle cry and ran forwards.
Overload frowned in rage as he fought against the slippery snake knight, Shadowcobra. Shadowcobra had used his signature Trick Vent card, Shadow Clones. This caused Overload to fire his electrical beams at the army of Shadowcobras. Unfortunately for the living circuit board, every he destroyed one, another would take its place. This was frustrating Overload and this was what Shadowcobra was waiting for.
Shadowcobra, was actually, not among his clones. He was hiding. Using his Zodiac Power of Invisibility, Shadowcobra was waiting for a chance to take down Overload, without getting electrocuted. He looked over at Genosnaker
"You know what to do Genosnaker?" Shadowcobra asked his monster. His only answer was a hiss. "Glad to hear that old friend."
Pluto was fighting with Cinderblock and was doing fairly well, considering that his three-headed dog had all its three jaws clamped tightly on Cinderblock's head and shoulders. Cinderblock was having a hard time fighting the dog knight, while having to remove the hellhound from himself. Pluto was snickering under his helmet, enjoying the scene. Each of Cinderblock's clumsy punches, were either blocked or deflected by Pluto's sword. Pluto didn't have to even use any of his cards to do this. He also felt proud as his cape flew around him. Damn! He loved being a superhero!
"This is just too easy!" Pluto said as he dodged a rocky kick. "I can't believe these guys have been giving the Titans trouble."
He blocked a punch to his face and deflected it. Cerberus was still clamped on Cinderblock the whole time.
Meanwhile, atop a nearby building, Slade was watching the scene with great interest. Standing next to him was Copycat, clearly annoyed. Slade had fixed her up and repaired her armor. On her left breastplate, she wore a black S, making it clear that she was Slade's new apprentice (much to her dismay.)
"What is the actual purpose of this, Slade?" Copycat asked angrily, clearly annoyed.
"My dear, patience is a virtue one must always have," Slade said simply. "I merely sent my men to test how powerful these Zodiac Knights were as you claimed." He rubbed his chin. "They are clearly as impressive as you say," he complimented.
Copycat lifted an eyebrow and snarled. She fingered her whip and clicked her claws. She wanted a piece of the action, and soon! She wanted to rip all the Knights and the Titans to shreds! But she would have to wait, to see, to learn…
To be continued…
