Part 33: Game, Set, MATCH!
"I know, this time, it will work!" Draco exclaimed. He changed into fiery red energy and proceeded to slam against the inner walls of his containment prison without avail. "Darn it!" he swore.
"Do not waste your energy trying to teleport, human. It won't help," Atlas smirked arrogantly.
"Aw, Shut up!" Draco snapped.
Atlas narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms. Why hadn't Cyborg appeared already? Maybe he was scared? Yes! That would mean that Atlas was champion afterall. Atlas laughed victoriously.
"And I thought his gloating was annoying," Shadowcobra hissed as he covered his ears.
"It can only get much worse," Raven answered.
"Aren't you miss sunshine," Jinx remarked sarcastically.
"Face it! We can't get out of these things!" Terra punched the wall of her prison but it only hurt her hand.
"Looks like your precious friend Cyborg is afraid of me," Atlas proclaimed.
"Cyborg beat you once and he'll do it again!" Robin yelled.
"Yes! When our friend arrives, he will open the big can of butt-whoop on you!" Starfire added.
"Yeah! What she said!" Beast Boy finished.
"I don't see neither hide nor hair of him. Face it, Titans, your friend is weak!" Atlas laughed.
Suddenly, a swirling blue portal formed in front of Atlas. All the other Titans were shocked, all except Shadowcobra and Draco, who both wore knowing smiles.
"And our response to that…" a disembodied voice from the portal began.
"Is a big fat…" another familiar voice added.
"BOOYAH!" Two large blurs jumped out of the portal and slammed right into Atlas, sending him back a good ten feet. His feet dragged on the ground as he attempted to regain his equilibrium.
Atlas grunted, "So, Cyborg, you came."
"And don't forget me!" Pluto announced, "Zodiac Knight Pluto!"
"I don't care who helps you," Atlas morphed his arm into a laser cannon. "This time I will rise as the victor while you will fall as the loser…" he fired a powerful beam of energy at the two.
"Cy!" Pluto shouted. "NOW!" he pulled out a large blue cloth. He grabbed one end of the fabric while Cyborg grabbed the other one. They both pulled in opposite direction while the blast came right at them.
Only to have it caught by the blue cloth.
"What?" Atlas eyes widened. "This cannot be!"
"But it is!" Pluto grinned.
"Yo Atlas! Catch!" Cyborg shouted as they threw the yellow laser blast right back at Atlas. Atlas dodged to the left, but not without having his shoulder armor blasted right off.
"What is this?" Atlas growled angrily.
"Do you like?" Pluto smiled, "It's my latest invention: The Reflecto-Cape!" He explained, "It's made of a special polymer that doesn't absorb shock, but instead, reflects it right back! Pretty neat, huh?"
"Amazing," Draco said mouth agape.
"Really." Shadowcobra smirked, "Finally, an invention that does work."
"Get em Cyborg!" Beast Boy shouted. All the trapped Titans cheered.
"Cyborg, I'll go free the others. Can you take care of this goon?" Pluto asked.
Cyborg cracked his knuckle, "When I'm through with him, there won't even be enough for spare parts."
Pluto gave him a thumb's up.
"This will not be a repeat of our last battle, Cyborg," Atlas said.
"Too bad, coz it is!" Cyborg swung his arm forward, only for Atlas to grab it. Atlas retaliated with his own fist, only to have Cybprg grab it as well. Both fighters were caught in a deadlock.
Meanwhile, Pluto attempted to free the others, starting with Shadowcobra.
"How the hell did you get trapped?" Pluto remarked, with an amused tone.
"I'm never going to hear the end of this, am I?" Shadowcobra shook his head and groaned.
"Probably not!" Pluto drew a card and inserted it into his sword. "Sword Vent!"
"You cannot win," Atlas said to Cyborg.
"I can and I will!" Cyborg spat back, struggling against Atlas' strength.
"No you cannot," a panel in Atlas' chest split open and a gattling laser cannon shriveled out. Cyborg's eyes widened. "I've had some, how you say, upgrades!" The laser charged up and began firing lasers rapidly at Cyborg. Cybog screamed as the shots tore at his armor and circuits. "Yes…scream…"
"Cyborg!" Pluto turned when he heard his friend's pain filled scream.
"Pluto! You have to go help Cyborg!" Robin told him.
"Yes! Our friend is in mortal danger!" Starfire added.
"But…but…" Pluto stuttered.
"Forget about us! GO! That's an order!" Robin shouted.
"Right!" Pluto cape transformed into bat wings before he flew towards the mechanical combatants.
Cyborg wasn't looking too good. His blue circuits have turned pitch black, signifying that he had ran out of power. His armor was scorched, smoking and held holes from the repeated barrage of lasers he had receives. His robotic red eye flickered repeatedly. He began coughing up blood as he fell at Atlas' feet.
"Bow down to the victor like the dog you are!" Atlas placed his foot on Cyborg's back, pushing him down.
"I…I will never surrender…" Cyborg struggled.
"Then be destroyed." Atlas pointed his laser cannon at Cyborg's head, "Farewell, Cyborg."
"NOT ON MY WATCH! DEADLY IMMORTAL'S DRILL!" Pluto's cape whirled around him as he executed a flying corkscrew attack. He slammed right into Atlas, sending the two of them flying back. Atlas caught the spinning cape in his strong hands and threw Pluto off him. Pluto landed in front of Atlas and held his lance. He stood in a battle pose.
"So…" Atlas began. "You dare to challenge me, human?" Atlas asked.
"Yes." Pluto answered simply.
"Then be destroyed." Atlas powered up his laser cannon and took a shot.
"You forgot about this!" Pluto pulled out Reflecto-Cape and held it in front of him. The laser blast bounced back and went straight for Atlas. Atlas anticipated this and crossed his arms in front of him while tucking in his head to protect himself. The blast hit home and pushed Atlas back. Pluto dropped the cape and held out his lance.
Atlas only laughed, "That cape of yours can only take so much damage."
Pluto pointed at the damaged and tattered cape at his feet. "That cape maybe." He then pointed to the cape attached to his back and added, "But this cape can take more than you can ever dish out."
"How so?" Atlas asked.
"Like this! DARKWING! GO!" The cape flung off Pluto and soared to the air. The simple large piece of fabric morphed and transformed into a nocturnal creature of the night and sky. It was Darkwing, the bat.
Darkwing screeched as it flew in the air and then did a divebomb on Atlas. Atlas wasn't prepared for this and Darkwing's sharp wings slashed at Atlas's armor.
"What matter of trickery is this?" Atlas angrily demanded.
"Darkwing is my partner," Pluto explained. "He watches my back every now and then so that's why I keep him on my back."
"That cape," Robin began, "Was alive the whole time?"
"Yep! That's Pluto's second Zodiac Beast, Darkwing," Shadowcobra answered.
"No wonder he looks like Batman," Beast Boy joked.
"He does look a lot like Batman with that cape on," Terra added
"I think I know what Pluto is up to," Draco smiled.
"What?" Jinx asked.
"Just watch the show Jinx," Shadowcobra hissed.
Raven watched on with curiosity as did Starfire.
"Because you won't forget what you see here today," Shadowcobra finished with a grin.
Pluto drew a card and inserted it into his sword. "Blast Vent-Dark Twin Tornadoes!" Darkwing began rapidly flapping its wings, creating twin tornados that blew Atlas off his feet.
"Blast you!" Atlas roared as he got back to his feet and charged at Pluto.
"Not gonna happen!" Pluto retorted as he sidestepped Atlas and tripped him with his lance.
Atlas turned and blasted Pluto with his cannon, but Pluto held the lance in front of him and the blast was deflected. Pluto then drew a new card and inserted it into his sword. "Nasty Vent-Sonic Screech!" Darkwing flew overhead and let out an ear piercing screech. Atlas brought up his hands to block the sound, but not before having one of his audio units damaged. At the same time, the energy bubbles imprisoning the Titans began to crack.
"Darkwing's screech," Shadowcobra said, "It's breaking the bubbles."
Another loud screech completely shattered them, freeing the Titans once and for all.
"Good! Now we can help Pluto!" Robin began.
"I do not think that is necessary, Robin," Starfire said.
Pluto drew out a new card. The card glowed with an unknown power as the wind began blowing. He held up his sword and it morphed into a bat shaped scabbard that was mounted on his left arm.
"Time to finish this!" Pluto slid the card into his scabbard.
"SURVIVE!"
Pluto's body glowed and his armor started changing shape.
"His Survivor Card. I was hoping he would bring that out," Shadowcobra commented.
"Now Atlas is gonna wish he never messed with Pluto." Draco grinned.
"Survivor Card?" Robin questioned.
Shadowcobra explained, "There are only three of those cards in existence. Pluto owns one…"
"While I own another," Draco added. "Those cards activate the Survivor Mode and give the user an extra power boost."
"You have one too?" Jinx asked, astonished.
Draco shrugged, "Yeah, but I don't like to use it much though."
"ZODIAC KNIGHT PLUTO-SURVIVOR MODE!" Pluto announced in his new armor. He was now clad in a full suit of sapphire armor with golden trimmings. His shoulder guards had become longer. His visor also held a golden trim around the edges. A black cape, which was split in two, hung from his shoulders to his ankles and blew in the wind. Flaps of armor hung from his belt, two flanking his legs, one in front of his groin, and one more behind him. He drew out his sword from the scabbard.
"This!" Atlas blocked a swipe, "Cannot be!"
"Too bad!" Pluto jumped up and did a spin kick that made impact with Atlas' head. Atlas staggered back.
"I will not be defeated…" Atlas twitched, "By a human." He attempted to land a punch but Pluto ducked and then repaid Atlas by stabbing his sword into Atlas' right arm joint. Atlas' arm crackled before blowing off its sockets. Atlas now held a look of fear in his eyes as he held the stump where his arm had been.
"Looks like you are about to be defeated by a human." Pluto sheathed his sword and drew out a card. He inserted the card into the scabbard. "Survivor Final Vent!" Darkwing morphed into a more robotic version of itself, but in blue and gold, with twin turbines in its wings, while Cerberus appeared as well and became covered in blue and gold armor. They had become Darkraider and Cerberion. Cerberion made a mad dash towards Atlas while Pluto leapt onto Darkraider's back. As the evolved bat flew towards its target, it transformed into a motorbike by turning its body in a 90 degree angle and while Pluto raised up his body, holding onto Darkraider's ears like handlebars. The turbines in Darkraider's wings became wheels. He then landed and sat down on his motorcycle, which sped right for Atlas. Cerberion transformed into energy and became one with Darkraider, charging up the attack. At the same time, Pluto's cape spread out into a familiar pair of bat wings that slowly enveloped both him and his vehicle, turning them into a speeding missile.
"DARK TORPEDO!" Pluto shouted.
Pluto smashed right into Atlas. Atlas screamed but it was soon muffled by the powerful explosion that followed. The force of the explosion shook Titans Island and the Tower.
After the dust cleared, Pluto dismounted from his vehicle and walked towards Atlas' damaged body. Atlas was still functional after the total onslaught. Pluto said quietly, "Say my name…"
"Pluto…" and Atlas shut down immediately after that.
"Oh yeah!" Pluto exclaimed, "Game, set, MATCH BABY! Who's the man! Oh yeah!" He was making a spectacle of himself as he did his victory dance.
"He'll be like this for a whole week…" Shadowcobra groaned.
"I know. But first, let's help Cyborg back into the Tower," Draco said.
"Are you okay, buddy?" Beast Boy asked his damaged friend.
"It doesn't hurt too bad, I just can't feel my legs…or arms for that matter," Cyborg replied weakly but was still smiling.
"Don't worry Cy," Pluto walked up to him changing out of his armor. "Just give me a week and you'll be good as new."
"At least that will keep him from gloating," Shadowcobra said to himself.
"Too bad that cape you were working on got destroyed," Robin commented.
Pluto shrugged. "Ah, well. It was bound to be destroyed sooner or later. Wasn't perfect or anything but we tried our best. And I don't think I'll ever ask for another replacement for Darkwing though."
"Let us help Cyborg back into the Tower and repair him," Starfire carried Cyborg's heavy body in her arms. Cyborg's legs and arms suddenly fell off.
"Maybe I need more than a week," Pluto said sheepishly with a large sweatdrop on his head.
Cyborg's head then fell off. "You think?" Cyborg commented. Everybody laughed as they helped pick up all of Cyborg's fallen parts.
Pluto rubbed the back of his head nervously and laughed, "I'll call Fixit."
