Part 76: Divine Observation
On top of a nearby building stood a man. He had a muscular build and wore a white coat and pants. He wore a pair of sandals on his feet and arm guards on his forearms. On his chest he wore a yellow symbol with black extensions stretching from the middle. His hair was as white as snow and tied in a high ponytail. But, the most distinctive features of this man were his eyes; they were pure white. That was because this man was not a man. He was a god.
His name was Fuji, the God of Wind. A small smile formed on his lips as he watched over the Black Clown Shop.
"So," he began, "The Zodiac Knights have taken their battle to this place, Jump City." He rubbed his chin. "Very interesting."
"But no matter where they go, the battle will still continue," another voice spoke up, "Am I right, Fuji?" Fuji turned around to see the owner of the voice. He was clad in golden and crimson armor with long and broad shoulder guards. The armor was worn over a black bodysuit. His gauntlets held blades near his elbows. His boots reached up to his knees. His helmet had a pair of curved blade extensions near the brow. Behind him, he wore a red cape. His helmet's faceplate covered his face. He scrutinized Fuji with his crimson eyes.
"Ah, Zodiac Knight Libra," Fuji greeted the other man, "How nice it is to see you." Libra rolled his eyes.
"Save it Fuji. I know why you're here," Libra said. At that, Fuji raised an eyebrow and smirked at the Knight.
"Do you now? So what pray tell are you doing here?"
"I'm worried about my children, that's why," Libra replied.
"Your son and daughter?" Fuji inquired.
"Who else?"
Fuji rubbed his chin, "Interesting…" He turned his gaze to Libra once more. "But you must know that this is their destiny."
Libra crossed his arms. "Doesn't mean I have to like it!" He reached for his deck and drew a card. He then summoned a staff with 4 ornaments resembling a tiger, a phoenix, a dragon and a turtle mounted on it with each animal pointing to the four winds. As he started to insert the card, Fuji chuckled.
"Don't tell me you want to use your Time Vent card, Libra. You know that won't change a thing." Libra froze then replaced the card back into his belt.
"You're right, but I can't let my own flesh and blood fight to the death."
"You may not have any choice in the matter since you are also a Zodiac Knight," Fuji told him. Libra sighed.
"I'm just really sorry I had to lie to them. I'm even sorry that I had my wife lie to them." Fuji nodded. "They'll find out the truth sooner and later, and they'll hate me for it."
"But for now, they'll have to fight each other," Fuji told Libra.
Libra clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "If only I didn't leave those decks and crystals, then none of this would've happened!"
Fuji sighed. He placed a sympathetic hand on Libra's shoulder. "This is their destiny, like it is your destiny to only observe until the last knight rises above the rest."
"And have them grow up without a father," Libra continued for Fuji, sighing. "I just hope that when this is all over, we'll be a family again."
"You know there must be Zodiac Knights for the prophecy to be fulfilled and that the last remaining Knight will fight you, Zodiac Knight Libra of Libra."
Libra laughed, "I had to be the strongest, didn't I?" Fuji smiled.
"Anyway," Fuji began while turning his attention back to the game shop, "Your son and his friends are about to fight another group of Zodiac Knights."
"His friends? You mean the Teen Titans?" Libra asked.
"Yes, the Teen Titans, and also both Pluto and Shadowcobra," Fuji answered. Libra smiled.
"I knew those two would never let me down."
"They are both children of your friends." Fuji continued, "And you know of Robin, right? Batman's former sidekick."
"Yes I do. I think it was about what, 20 or so years ago of when I once worked together with the dark knight of Gotham. I think I was still in college then." Libra smiled. "So my son is working with Batman's kid? Wonder's will never cease."
"Yes, your son is very well," Fuji frowned. "But what worries me is your daughter."
"I know," Libra spoke grimly, "She's working with Slade a.k.a. Deathstroke the Terminator."
"It is not her fault you know," Fuji assured him, "It's the armor."
"The cat was the one that was left out of the Chinese Zodiac, right? No wonder she became evil."
"All the Zodiac Knights are reincarnated forms of the ancient Zodiac spirits. It is their destiny to fight," Fuji explained. "Even yours." Fuji sighed. "But for now, let's just hope that the Dragon, Snake and Dog can pull through this challenge and rise victorious."
"Because in the end there can be only one."
To be continued…
(Author's Notes: Thanks Dr Evans for letting me use Fuji and sorry for being so late in introducing him. Tell me what you think. Anyway, I'm not really sure how the Titans are going to cope with being in a VR world. I need some help out there! Please R and R!)
