A/n: Yeah I know I said this was on hold, but I changed my mind :P

I've gotten a lot better at writing since I first posted this story and I hope this chapter meets your expectations.

I hope this is a good one. And thanks to Sassykatt for pointing out the flaws in the first two chapters, hope I did better. Oh and I fixed up the other chapters as well, hope they are better than they were before. Enough of my bantering ON WITH THE STORY!

"Normal talk"

*Infected talk*

"Thinking'"

In the south.

"Today is boring as hell." I thought as I wandered around the inside of the Vannah.

It had been a week since I was infected with the green flu, luckily I was spared the nightmare of mutating into a Boomer or a Spitter. Instead I turned into one of the most dangerous of infected, The Witch.

But I'm a little bit different. I don't cry like a little bitch that broke a nail and I'm not half naked like the rest of those bimbos, I'm still wearing pants. Yeah their a little torn up but what the hell do you expect! I have massive claws that can cut through Kevlar like a hot knife through butter!

Oh and I still have my Midnight Riders shirt on, I smiled, I love that band with a fiery passion, glad it didn't get ripped up by my claws.

That and my Necklace which is a heart broken down the middle that has my Initials of my first name "J" on it.

The Vannah was where I was staying when the virus hit, I was here to see the midnight riders with my friend Jessica but she didn't make it, killed by a hunter on the first day. Weirdly it didn't bother me that much that she was killed in front of my eyes like that, guess that's what happens when you're raised in a violent household with two assholes for parents.

I punched the wall in anger. *Lousy drunks.* I muttered in the infected tongue, they always liked their bud light.

I pulled my clawed hand away and looked at the wall and saw I had left a small hole the size of my fist, It didn't hurt, one of the perks of being an infected, higher tolerance for pain I guess.

I looked around and saw lots of those "lesser" infected wandering around aimlessly throughout the building, occasionally bumping into one another like retards or falling down the stairs and smashing their skulls wide open.

A CEDA official in hazmat bumped into me when I wasn't looking while giving me a blank look, his eyes were cold and lifeless, I hated that look, he was going to leave but I thrust my right index claw through his left eye, he continued staring at me with that look so I withdrew my right and brought up my left claw and with one quick swipe I sliced him in half, I watched as he crumpled to the ground, a pool of foul smelling blood started to form around him.

With a sigh I continued forward, I was bored. "Could go around and kill some infected maybe, but they don't really provide a challenge." I thought, they would just stand around and let me do whatever.

My thoughts were interrupted when something suddenly exploded causing the whole building to shake, fire exploded from behind me in one of the rooms. "Great Fire, now what?" I wondered as infected started pouring out of the rooms going upstairs to the rooftop. "Survivors?"

I walked towards the staircase which I must have wandered towards when I was thinking and opened the door which proved difficult with my claws and walked inside and began climbing up the stairs. Every infected that was back where I came from pushed past me wailing at the top of their lungs agitating me to a great extent.

I heard gunshots come from up top and thought. "Shit! These survivors are armed." I then heard automatic fire. "Sounds like some heavy stuff too." I thought with grimace, I didn't want to get shot, why in the hell was I even going up here anyway? Was it my infected side, or was it something else?

More gunshots sounded echoing throughout the stairwell. I winced at the sound; my slightly enhanced hearing didn't help any.

I then heard voices. "Come on!" a voice yelled harshly, it sounded male.

"I'm comin hold on a sec!" another voice yelled back, he sounded southern.

I was about to continue up but my path was blocked by burning debris, couches and desks. "Great, more fire." I thought with dread, I hated fire even before I turned.

I looked and saw I was on the just two floors below the roof, I also saw a door that led to this floor's rooms and thought. "Eh, why not?" I walked towards it and was about to open it but I was shoved into the door as a crowd of infected plowed into me, they smashed the door open and pushed past me into the hallway wailing and roaring.

*Brainless little shits!* I yelled at them in irritation, I thought seeing how I'm a badass infected I would be shown some respect, Damn was I wrong.

I kept moving forward until I heard more gunshots; they came from a room where there were stairs that led to the roof, using my stealth skills I sneaked up the room's door and listened in to what they were saying.

"Oh man, look at this here map." The southern guy pointed out, surprise in his voice.

"Everything northeast of here is… gone." A female voice exclaimed. "How can that be?"

"Whatever this is, it's spreading fast." an older male voiced. "We better get moving."

"To the mall right Coach?" the female asked.

"Coach?" I chuckled to myself, what kinda name is that?

"Yeah, the evac center is there." He replied, sounding exhausted. "Ellis Nick, what are you two doing?" he asked.

"Ellis Nick and Coach, wonder what the bimbo's name is?" I wondered.

"Looky what I found!" Ellis exclaimed in joy.

I decided to risk it and peered around the corner and saw them, there were five of them, an older black man with no hair wearing a purple high school shirt and slacks, he had a pump shotgun in his hand and a pistol strapped to his thigh, and a candy bar in his mouth. "Must be coach and the leader from the way he holds himself."

The girl of the group was the same as Coach, she was black and wearing a Depeche mode tee shirt "I hate their music" and black work pants, her hair was dreadlocks that was tied in a bun or something and she had a submachine in her hand, and I also spotted that she was wearing hoop earrings. "Is she suicidal?" I wondered with amusement.

The next was a clean cut looking guy that had nice groomed hair and wearing a white suit with a blue undershirt and some expensive looking rings on his finger, he had an AK-47 in his hands and a desert eagle strapped to his thigh. "That has to be Nick" I guessed by the aggravation on his face aimed at the guy I pinned as Ellis.

Ellis had a goofy smile on his face and he wore a blue work hat with a tow truck on it which covered light brown curly hair and a yellow bull-shifters shirt with work overalls tied around his waist. "Must be a mechanic" He had a hunting rifle on his back with a machete strapped to his thigh and in his hand he was holding what looked like a katana, he was swinging it around with a face of glee like a child with a new toy.

"He's kinda cute, wonder if he's into witches?" I thought as I gazed at mechanic.

"Ellis sweetie, put that down before you hurt yourself." The girl told him in a motherly tone.

Ellis looked like he was about to complain but sighed and put the cheap looking katana into its sheath and on his back for later use.

The fifth and final member of the group was a young looking man that had an air of confidence around him and his face one of a calm individual. He had black hair with three red bangs covering the front right of his face that was cut a little short underneath a black cap with the bill facing backwards, he wore a tight red tee-shirt with a black jacket that was open and what looked like straps on the side with torn sleeves and torn blue jeans. In his hand he held a M4A1 assault rifle with various attachments and he had a revolver in a holster on his belt. (1)

"Ohh forget the bimbo's name what his? He's kinda cute too' I thought switching my gaze back and forth between Ellis to the other guy whose name I did not know.

I saw Ellis was about to continue forward but his eyes flicked to where I was, I hid back into cover and slipped away unnoticed, I do not need to get shot right now.

As soon as I made it far enough away, I ran back down the stairs, occasionally bitch slapping a zombie or two as I passes until I reached the floor that led to the lobby, the door was wide open so I stepped through. I hadn't been through this part of the hotel; the corridor that led to the lobby was filled with bloodshed, bodies of both humans and infected ripped to shreds or half gnawed to bits, some of them intact but covered in bruises and blood with their faces frozen in terror.

It was be a gruesome sight to some, but not me seeing how I'm used to this crap. I stepped around them and I think I saw one twitch, but I paid it no mind.

I came to the lobby and saw all the front doors were blocked off by steel shutters and barricaded with giant pieces of plywood, all except one, it was ripped and warped open by a tank from the look of it. Above the skylights were all broken and the glass was covering the floor making a crunching sound underfoot. Several infected were in here shambling around, most of them in military or CEDA uniforms.

Paying no mind to them I pushed past them and was about to continue forward but stopped when I spotted a large red door at the other end of the hall, it had a small window and looked very heavy. Curious I walked towards to investigate; as I got closer I could see it was one of those safe-rooms I heard about, made for survivors on the move.

I stepped inside and I was greeted with the counter to check people in along with some boxes of provisions, on the counter was a shotgun an Uzi and several pistols. On another table were four med kits and a pile of ammo ranging from pistol ammo to rifle ammo. Against the counter was a red leather couch.

"They just leave this stuff in here?" I wondered aloud, I haven't spoken in my human tongue in quite some time as it sounded a little hoarse. Yeah, I can still speak human, another perk of being me.

I looked behind the counter and that there were some sleeping bags laid out and some small boxes sitting next to them, the logo looked so familiar so I carefully picked one up in my claws and saw it was the one thing that could make my day a whole lot better, a box of snowballs.

"Bitching!" I exclaimed in joy. I opened a box and some of them fell out onto the counter, I quickly picked one up and ripped it open and shoved it in my mouth. The powerful taste of sugar and coconut hit my taste buds like a hurricane. I smiled, god I missed stuff like this, brings back good memories from before I turned.

I grabbed the rest and sat cross-legged on the floor. "Chow time!"

Heading out to the safe-room. Ellis Pov.

I was still thinking bout that face I saw spyin on us when we were checking out that map, I told Ro Nick Coach an that new guy, he still won't tell us his name. They went over to check but there weren't anybody there, nick said I was seeing things.

I know what I saw, it was a girl but she looked a Lil different. Her skin was pale and her face was covered by long black hair. But what I saw was what bugged me; her eyes were bright green but seemed a Lil, weird to me, like they were lifeless but still had a spark in em or something ya know?

Anyways, we headed down the hall towards the elevator only to find out they was out of order. "Now what?" I asked, looking out the window at the city below, pillars of smoke were rising from different parts of the city along with small explosions going off in the streets.

Coach was quick to answer. "We head back down the stairs and head to the mall." He looked to each of us sayin that. "From there, we get out of the savannah and someplace safe."

We all nodded, and went down the corridor beside the elevator. A pile of junk was stacked up by the door as an explosion went off setting fire to it.

A door next to it flew open and infected ran out screaming and flailing wildly, we all took aim and fired our weapons blowing off chunks of their bodies or limbs, or their heads.

One charged at me so I hit it in the head with the butt of my hunting rifle and smashed its head in as coach shot another that came at Ro from behind. Nick was shooting his AK-47 through the door dropped the infected like flies while Coach and Red "I'm calling him Red until I learn his name" were guarding the rear.

We took them all down as Red beat the last one in the head with the butt of his assault rifle; he wiped the blood of on the infected shirt before saying in an emotionless voice. "Clear." Propping the barrel of the rifle on his shoulder.

"This guy scares me." I thought with a little bit of fear as he passed by me into the room which the infected stormed out of, we followed.

The room we entered was half filled with cleaning supplies with two windows at the end; Coach went over to one and bashed it out and motioned for us to follow.

The ledge went all the way across and on it was some infected which we easily dispatched, they fell off an hit one of the skylights below, shattering it to pieces. We walked along it very carefully so we wouldn't fall to our deaths; we don't need that right now. Coach took point with me an Ro at the back.

As we walked along the narrow path I could feel the warm dry savannah hit my face, I looked over down at the city below and saw many infected shambling around the place aimlessly or bumpin into one another. In the street I could see one of those fat guys, he was waddling at a fast pace towards something.

The windows we passed were still intact and several of the rooms were set ablaze with infected corpses trying to put themselves out, Red smirked as some of them fell to the floor still on fire. "Scary." I thought, I saw he saw I was looking at him and looked away into the sky, whistling innocently. Red glared and turned away.

I breathed a sigh of relief as we made it to the window, and as Coach was about to bash it open Red pulled him away at the last moment as a big arm went through it and went flying to the ground below, he made a splat sound as he collided with the hard pavement sending blood everywhere around him.

Coach thanked Red and he nodded as we stepped through the window and back into the safety of the hotel. The room we entered had its bed removed and some random stuff was lying around, against the wall was a body holding a pipe bomb in its hand. I nick walked over to it and picked it up and pocketed it, he had no problem with looting the dead that much I know.

After we went through the room for anything that might have been of use, we left the room and entered the hall which parts of were on fire. We moved quickly to the emergency stairs taking out infected along the way, the stairs leading to the bottom were of course, on fire like the rest of the building. Red had taken down several infected that came from behind while coach was blasting away some that had come out of the fourth floor door, after that we went through the door fought off some infected and ventured down the corridor.

"So guys, you think anyone else survived this?" I asked, I was hoping we weren't the only ones left here. I hope my ma's okay. "You think it's just us here?"

Coach sighed. "Of course not, there's gotta be others. You saw the choppers, they musta evacuated other people to safe zones and I bet we'll find them at the mall." He told me reassuringly.

"Maybe, maybe not." Red stated. "At the rate of progress of how fast this infection is making, there may not be other people. You've seen how fast this spread in only just one week, it took out the whole east coast and everyone in it." he finished emotionlessly, Coach gave him a glare but he didn't acknowledge it as he continued. "It won't be long until this flu continues north then heading west until it consumes the United States, it may already be global." He finished with a blank look.

Nick voiced his opinion. "Hate to agree with Sunny sunshine here but he's right, the military were on the frontlines of this thing and look how well that ended, they couldn't stop it. And all CEDA did was tell us how they were going to stop it, but they never did." As he checked his AK, satisfied to see he still has a good amount of ammo left.

We reached the only working elevator after we dispatched some more infected and one of those charging things we went inside and I hit the button for the ground floor. "There's bound to be bigger safe zones out there you know, like in movies?" I asked. "Some as big as cities or even islands or something."

"That is a possibility, albeit a small one." Red stated. "If CEDA or the military stopped all flights in and out when this happened, then Hawaii could be a good place to hole up for a bit. Provided no infected found a way there and that this isn't an airborne contagion, but seeing how fast it spread in such a short time it's most likely airborne." He finished, arms crossed staring straight ahead.

Coach sighed as Ro pondered this, I took off my hat and ran my fingers through my hair. I could feel a good amount of sweat had built up and felt sticky to the touch; I wiped it off on my overalls before clearing my throat. "So, I heard Jimmy Gibbs Jr was in town, ya think he survived?" I asked, trying to lighten the gloomy atmosphere.

Nick spoke up. "Jimmy Gibbs Jr? Who the hell is that?" he asked, laughing at his name.

I scoffed then said. "Only the greatest Stock car driver ever!"

"Sounds like an ass." Nick replied, fiddling with his rings.

Coach and I sent death glares his way. "Boy you best watch yo mouth, that man is a legend!" he declared in a proud voice, defending his Idol.

"Whatever." Nice grumbled, not caring in the slightest.

Our conversation was interrupted by the elevator stopping and the lights going out, smoke had started to seep its way in from the cracks on the doors.

"I suggest we leave before we suffocate to death." Red told us in the calmest voice I've heard.

Me and Coach grabbed onto the door and pried them open and when we did all of us were hit by smoke and the smell of burnt flesh, it was horrible. The halls were completely on fire and it was spreading fast. On the ground in front of us was a dead police officer and in his hands was a silenced Uzi and a bottle of pills, I grabbed the pills just as the sounds of infected screams echoed throughout the burned halls.

Everyone readied their weapons.

The Vannah Hotel. flaming hallway near the safe-room. third person Pov.

The surviving group of five had readied their weapons as infected came after them, all had looks of determination.

Coach and Nick had opened fired with their weapons sending some of the infected flying while Rochelle Red and Ellis had taken out their melee weapons.

Rochelle with her pocket knife Ellis and his Machete with a look of glee on his face and Red with Ellis's Katana which he grabbed and smiled as he felt the familiar weight, the three killed the infected that got too close for comfort.

Ellis hacked away with joy, taking off arms and legs as blood stained the charred carpet. Two came at him from behind so he spun and took one's head off and punched the other; it fell to the floor as he brought his leg up and smashed its head in with his boot getting brain bits and blood on it much to his displeasure. "Yeehaw! Man this is fun!" he yelled in joy.

Red was skillfully taking down infected left and right, with almost masterful precision. He decapitated three infected with one sweep of his blade their heads flew from their bodies and hit the ground with a sloshy sounding thud. Without looking he quickly put the blade underneath his arm and thrust it backwards stabbing an infected in the stomach the infected slid of his blade and hit the floor with a thud. "Pitiful." He thought with mild amusement.

Rochelle was trying to keep an infected off her that had grabbed her by stabbing it with her pocket knife, she kept stabbing it in the head but it wasn't doing much as the blade broke on the third try. She threw it aside and pulled out her Glock 17 and blew its brains all over the wall. "Why didn't I do that at first?" she pondered.

Nick was had started shooting his AK at a shit ton of infected that burst out of another room that was blocked with a vending machine, most were dressed as CEDA health officials or soldiers. He blew them all to bits with the awesomeness of the AK-47's raw power, with a smirk he took out the empty clip and reloaded the rifle with a fresh one after the last infected of that room fell to the ground. "Nice!"

Coach was blasting away at a group of infected that came from a door at the end of the burning hall. A couple of them fell into the fire after tripping over their fallen comrades, they screamed as they tried crawling out but fell to the intensity of the flames. His shotgun clicked empty and he was about to reload until he was pounced by a hunter. "Get this thing offa me!" he yelled to anyone within earshot.

Red took out of his jacket pocket a switchblade, he held it by the blade and threw it at the hunter with a keen eye. It flew through the air in a straight line and imbedded itself in the hunter's head as the hunter let out a howl then fell on top of Coach lifeless.

Coach kicked the body of the now deceased hunter off and proceeded to reload his shotgun with the leftover shells he had in his pants pocket, he shot a thankful to Red as he loaded the last shell. Red, of course didn't acknowledge it as he fell four more infected with his blade.

As the last on the infected fell they resumed their trek through the burning hotel. They went through the door at the end and into a kitchen, most likely the origin of the fire as ever burner was lit and flames were spitting out of them hitting the ceiling. The ceiling was burned open showing copper wiring, insulation, etc. Wasting no time they hopped over a counter and maneuvered their way around the intense flames all the while downing infected that stumbled out of nowhere.

A infected chef came out of the massive freezer and tackled Ellis to the ground, Ellis put both of his legs against the Infected chef's chest and kicked him onto a stove where he instantaneously caught fire. Coach helped Ellis up and they continued moving as the chef infected became infected barbeque.

They fought their way out of the kitchen and into a large room that was almost completely on fire, beds and piles of luggage were set ablaze and blocked the way forward, several infected were in the room dressed as medical officials or soldiers, some of them were civilians, most of the bodies in this room were on the flaming beds and hooked up to charred machinery.

Red scanned the room until he spotted a way around, he signaled for them to follow him. He led them around the burned equipment and bodies, all the while taking off the heads of any enemy cross enough to try and take him on.

Up ahead was an open double door which they went through and entered into the main lobby of the building, the skylights were all but shattered to pieces and the smoke was escaping through it. Ellis saw the massive front doors were barricaded with massive pieces of plywood and held together with long wooden boards and nails, many of the coaches were stacked in front to add onto the defenses. But sadly they didn't help as one of the doors was ripped open by some ungodly force.

"Most likely a Tank did that." Red thought with amusement, he scoffed as he continued forward towards the safe-room followed closely by the rest of the group.

They reached the safe-room door and entered it, inside were some guns they didn't need and some much needed medical supplies, Coach closed the door with a loud clang and placed a bar over it to keep it shut.

Ellis plopped down on the coach with a grin laying his hunting rifle next to him. "That was awesome!" he exclaimed, happiness filling his voice.

"What was so awesome about it overalls, almost getting turned into ashes?" Nick asked, checking his rifle and decided to grab some more ammo from the pile on the table, he sifted through it until he found a box of 7.62 NATO rounds and began reloading some of his empty clips he picked up.

"Uh, everything!" Ellis replied. "We are the kings of the world!"

Coach listened to Ellis and Nick banter back and forth as he went over how to get to the mall. When this all went down, most of the roads were blocked off by CEDA and the military with barricades rendering them impassable except for some side passages through buildings. They would have to make a lot of detours if they were to get to the mall before CEDA left them like last time.

Rochelle was fiddling with her Glock making sure it would work properly, the black pistol was scuffed up and Police issue, she looted it off of a dead police officer when she escaped the News station. She didn't want to take it but she had no choice. She looked over at Ellis Nick and Coach, if it wasn't for them she wouldn't be here today, she'd be lost without them.

Ellis with his positive altitude, Red with his brutality towards the infected, Nick and his Jackassery and Coach with his guidance, she was glad for their company.

Ellis was about to complain to Nick about why he didn't want to switch guns when a certain smell hit his nose. "You guys smell coconut?" he asked, sniffing the air much like a dog would.

Nick smelled the air. "I smell smoke and rotten flesh. How the hell can you smell coconut?" he questioned.

Ellis then got up and continued smelling around. "I know I smell Coconut, I bet it's a snowball!" he exclaimed happily. He turned to the others and saw they all had frozen expressions, minus Red, as they slowly started to raise their weapons. "Uh guys? What's wrong?" he asked fearfully, were they going to shoot him?

Rochelle mouthed. "There a witch behind you!"

Ellis froze. He slowly turned his head until he saw the outline of the witch behind him, Ellis being Ellis, turned around to face her.

He was a little stunned as she wasn't like any of the witches he had seen, her skin was pale not pinkish like the other ones and she wore a shirt of his favorite band The Midnight Riders and she was also wearing pants. Her hair was shoulder length and colored black with her bangs being brown and covering a part of her face. Her eyes are what caught Ellis by surprise; they were a bright green, like the girl he saw before when they were checking out the map. She also had half a snowball in her mouth with a lazy looking expression as she slowly chewed.

She held out a clawed hand which scared Ellis a little as he thought she was going to attack, but calmed down when he saw an unopened snowball on it. "Want one?"

There it is! :D hope ya'll enjoyed it, Please R&R :)
