Chapter 17

They predictably found Phineas in his favorite inventing room. "Phineas," Roslyn said to peel away his attention which is a little easier now than when he was a kid.

"Oh, hey Roslyn!"

He turned around and noticed Jessica, "Who might this young lady be?"

"Oh this is Jessica,"

"Oh, well, it's nice to meet you, Jessica." Phineas said offering his hand.

"Nice to meet you," She said.

"What is she doing here?" Phineas asked Roslyn.

"She's my friend. There's also something I wanted to ask you." She added carefully.

"Sure what?" He asked.

"I was wondering if she could possibly stay the night," Roslyn said hopefully. "I'd make sure she stays out of trouble."

"Well, yeah I don't see why not," He said.

"Thank you, Phineas! Would you mind helping us with the others?" Roslyn asked.

"Sure, why not?" Phineas said.

"Great, Slate, you take Phineas, I take Jessica?" Roslyn offered to her cousin.

"Sure I can handle that," Slate said.

So they took their assigned person and blurred off arriving at the library to find Roslyn's parents. "Mom, Dad." Roslyn said when they got there.

"Yes, Roslyn sweaty?" Feliss asked.

"Mom, this is Jessica." Roslyn said first motioning to her.

"Oh is she a friend?" Feliss asked not yet knowing what they had done to Eric.

"Yeah, but she was also Eric's girlfriend while I was. We got him back though." Roslyn chuckled at the recent memory.

"Oh you did?"

Roslyn nodded and explained what they did.

"Brilliant!" Adam said.

"Thank you." Roslyn smirked, "We were wondering if there's any way Jessica could stay the night."

"Well I don't know," Adam said.

"I'll make sure she stays out of trouble and doesn't go anywhere she's not supposed to." Roslyn promised.

"Well, okay" Adam said.

"Thank you!" Roslyn said hugging him.

"It's no trouble," Adam said.

"Mom?" Roslyn double-checked.

"Sure," Feliss said smiling.

"Great, three down then," Jessica said with a slight smile.

"Yeah!" Roslyn said happily.

"Do you guys know where anyone else is?" Slate asked.

"Dining room," Adam said.

"Right, thanks again mom and dad." Roslyn said and they were off.

They arrived in the dining room. Everyone was already there, "Guys, this is Jessica."

"Oh, hello," Ferb said.

"We were wondering if she could stay the night." Roslyn asked.

"Well, what did your parents say?" He asked.

"They said it was okay as long as I keep her under control." Roslyn answered truthfully.

"Well then I see no problems," Ferb said and the others agreed.

"Thank you!" Roslyn said happily.

Jessica was excited, "It's still hard to believe you guys live here."

"Yeah it's fun!" Roslyn said.

"Is there anything it doesn't have?" Jessica asked.

"Not really and if there was we build it," Roslyn said.

"That is so cool!" Jennifer said excitedly.

"Thank you," Roslyn said.

"So, what now?" Jessica asked rocking gracefully.

"Well, we could...go four wheeling?" Roslyn offered.

"Sure." She agreed excitedly and Roslyn took her arm and they were off.

They had fun with the four wheelers waiting for dinner. "Time to head in," Roslyn said getting out of her own four-wheeler.

"Aw man," Jessica sighed.

"We could come back after dinner." Roslyn offered.

"Okay," She said. She took Roslyn's arm and they were gone to the dining room.

There they were met with a Thanksgiving style feast, "Oh my gosh!" Jessica gasped.

"Like it?" Adam asked emerging from the kitchen.

"Well, I obviously having tried anything but it all looks and smells absolutely perfect." Jessica observed in amazement.

"Thank you," Adam said.

"Did you make all of this?" She asked turning to him.

"Yeah, except the stuffing no one beats Isa's stuffing," Adam said.

"Well, I cannot say that I'm not impressed even though I have yet to take a single bite."

"Well thanks," Adam said.

"Since everyone's here, how about we sit down and get started, "Adam said motioning to the table.

"Sure!" She said. Those who hadn't already, took their seats.

It was amazing which was usual. "That had to be the most amazing thing I have ever tasted." Jessica said honestly turning to Adam. "It was perfect."

"I'm glad you like it," Adam said.

"I keep telling you that no one could not." His wife reminded with a smile.

"I still am not sure there," Adam said.

"Adam, why do you have to be so modest?" Feliss whined leaning into him.

"I don't know," Adam said.

"Bad husband," She said lightly hitting the back of his head in a way she's the only mutant that can safely.

"Ow why?" Adam asked.

"You keep doing what I always insist on you not."

"It's who I am," Adam said.

"Well, that's the one thing I really don't like about you, Adam." Felicity sighed.

"I'm sorry," Adam said.

"Just work on that," She said.

Adam sighed, "I'll try."

"Good," She said smiling. They leaned in and kissed so Roslyn blurred off with Jessica.

"Why do they do that in front of me?" Roslyn asked.

Jessica chuckled slightly, "As gross as it is. Most parents do."

"Well welcome back to our library" Roslyn said.

"I thought you said we could go back to the track after dinner."

"We can, but first you need to call your parents and pick out some clothes for tomorrow, plus we have dirt bike gear on the clothes floor I was just stopping here to put a book back," Roslyn said putting a book back.

"Right," Jessica said pulling out her cellphone then before she dialed something clicked, "Wait, clothes FLOOR?"

"Yeah clothes floor," Roslyn said smiling

"The entire third floor is nothing but clothes." She specified.

"No way!" Jessica said.

"Have I ever lied to you?"

"No," Jessica said. The phone in her hand reminded her what she was doing and she hit the speed dial for the home phone knowing they're there by now.

"Hello?" Her dad asked.

"Hey dad, is it okay if I stay the night with a friend?" Jessica asked realizing how awkward it would be if he said no.

"As long as it's not Eric I understand he's your boyfriend, but I do not want you staying at his house."

"Actually, Eric and I broke up."

"Really? Why? What happened?" He asked.

"Apparently, he was cheating on me, but his other girlfriend, her cousin, and I got him back."

"Oh, that little brat!"

"I know right!" Jessica half shouted then sighed. "I honestly thought he was different."

"So did I, so where are you staying?" He asked.

"The other girl's house," Jessica answered. "Well, mansion."

"A mansion?" He asked skeptically

"Exactly, the Daniels Manor." Jessica said knowing they now very briefly of it.

"The one outside the city?"

"That's the one." Jessica nodded.

"What is it like?" He asked.

"It's absolutely amazing! I swear this place has everything!"

"Well, if it's okay with her parents then you can stay," He said.

"We already asked, thank you, Daddy."

"Well, have fun!"

"I will." Jessica said with a smile though he can't see it. She hung up smiling. "I can stay." Jessica said happily.

"Good," Roslyn said.

"So, to the clothes floor then?"

"Sure" Roslyn said taking her arm.

She blurred her to the third floor. "What do you think?" She asked on arrival.

"It's incredible." Jessica awed looking around.

"It's pretty great," Roslyn shrugged.

"So, the gear?" Jessica asked.

"In the back from here," Roslyn said.

"Why did we come up here then?" Jessica asked.

"I thought you would want to change out of your swimsuit," She said.

"Oh, right." Jessica said looking down at it having honestly forgotten she was wearing it.

"Yeah…" Roslyn said.

"So, I could just pick anything?" Jessica asked.

"Anything," Roslyn said. So Jessica started looking. She settled on a pair of medium cropped capris with a black tank top with silver decals. "Better?" Roslyn asked.

"Better." Jessica nodded, "Thank you."

"No problem," Roslyn said.

"So, now the gear then?" Jessica asked.

"Right over there," Roslyn said leading the way. They both got the gear on and Roslyn took her back down.

They rode again for about an hour before it got dark. Jessica got out taking off her helmet and noticed Roslyn staring at something off in the forest. "Um, what are you looking at?"

"There's someone in the woods," Roslyn said.

Jessica squinted harder over where she was looking. "I don't see anything."

"Yeah I have super eyesight though," Roslyn said.

"Oh, that's cool, should we try and investigate then? Maybe they're in danger and if they are danger you could get us out more than fast enough."

"Maybe, but should we get adults?" Roslyn asked.

Jessica nodded, "That sounds like a good idea."

Roslyn blurred them straight to her parents. "Mom, dad, there's someone in the woods near the manor." Roslyn informed straight to the point.

"Where?" Adam asked instantly.

"Just follow me." Roslyn said and blurred off. They followed quickly not liking this.

She stopped by Jessica not sure what they want to do with the person. "You see them?"

"I see something," Adam said

Feliss looked and her jaw practically dropped, "No way." She said before blurring after it.

"Wait up!" Adam said chasing after her.

She came across a small framed woman who was covered in dirt with brown hair matted to basically being a tumble weed sleeping in the dirt, "Tempest?" She asked.

The woman tossed slightly then it clicked and her eyes shot open looking at her in disbelief, "Felicity?"

"Yes it's me," Felicity said excitedly.

Tempest hugged her very excitedly, "Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you since you left the company! What have you been up to?"

"A lot actually: I found my parents, got married, had a kid, killed my old bosses," Feliss listed off.

"Mom, who's this?" Roslyn asked since it was VERY clear they knew each other.

"This is Tempest," Felicity said.

"Yeah, I caught that, but how do you know each other?" Roslyn specified.

"She was my best and only friend back when I worked for...the wrong people," Feliss said.

"Don't worry, I'm not bad though." Tempest said turning to Roslyn getting that Felicity doesn't want her to know what that company is. "So, you must be Feliss' daughter?"

"Yeah, I'm Roslyn," She said confused.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Roslyn." Tempest said before turning to Felicity and saying, "It's great that you found your parents. I still have been having no luck on that."

"I'm sorry, but you're welcome to stay here," Felicity offered.

Tempest looked around trying to see where here might be but only seeing the right answer which she put off as impossible, "Where's here?"

"Oh this is our home," Adam said.

"What? That?" Tempest asked pointing to the manor.

"Yeah that," Feliss said smiling.

"You're kidding. Really?" Tempest asked in shock.

"Really," Roslyn said.

"That's incredible, and I could really stay there."

"Sure, we have more than enough rooms," Feliss said. "By the way, where's Gale?"

"Well he's not with us anymore..." Tempest said.

Felicity was able to tell right away what she meant and pulled her in, "Oh, I'm really sorry to hear that."

"It's okay it's been a while," Tempest sighed.

"Well, alright." Felicity shrugged, "By the way, this is my husband, Adam." She said motioning to Adam.

"Nice to meet you," Adam said.

"Nice to meet you, too," Tempest said with a smile but Adam noticed that she looked really tired.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"Mostly, why?" Tempest asked confused.

"You seem tired," He said.

Tempest just chuckled at that, "Oh, that, I'm always tired."

"Really?" Adam asked.

Tempest nodded, "I could pretty much get 23 hours of sleep a day and still be exhausted the remaining hour."

"That is odd," Adam said.

Tempest shrugged, "You get used to it."

"You should not have to," Adam said.

"Well, I'm not sure what's even causing it it's been that way for about fifteen or so years, now."

"Well maybe you should be checked out," Adam said.

"Probably, that was just never an option before."

"Well, it is now," Adam said.

"I would like that then."

"Good come on," Adam said.

Felicity took Tempest's arm knowing she knows all about that, "Ready?"

"Yeah," She said.

"Race ya." Feliss said to her husband and daughter before blurring off. They took off after her Roslyn carrying Jessica.

Adam got there first. "I WIN! I actually win!" Adam said.

"Maybe I shouldn't have taught you that secret." Felicity chuckled on arrival. "Good job, Adam."

Adam hugged her as Roslyn arrived. "Well, I guess that's preferable to kissing." Roslyn sighed setting Jessica down.

"Oh, you'll be fine," Adam said.

Roslyn chuckled, "Yeah, I was mostly just being silly."

"That's my girl!" Feliss said.

Roslyn shrugged, "I'm not really a mommy's or daddy's girl, I'm both really depending on when you catch me."

"Good to know," Adam said. He turned to Tempest finding that she had fallen asleep. "Get her to Baljeet," Adam said.

Felicity picked her up and took her to Dr. Baljeet's office, "Jeet!" She said arriving in front of him.

Baljeet jumped still not quiet used to that, "Feliss, you don't need to yell. What seems to be the problem?"

"This is Tempest and I need you to do a check-up and blood scan,"

"Alright, set her down there." He instructed pointing the examination seat thingy. She sat her down and waited as Baljeet set to work. He ran a bunch of tests on her, "Well, that is unusual."

"What?" Feliss asked.

"Have you ever heard of Langulium Quantricite?"

"No, why?"

"It a fairly rare man-made inhalation-based toxin that weakens the body's natural ability to produce ATP causing extreme fatigue and she seems to have been exposed to a lot of it." Dr. Baljeet explained.

"Can you fix it?" Feliss asked.

"I could try but I don't know any antidote if there even is one, it's a very complex toxin."

"Well, at least try,"

"I will." Baljeet said setting to work.

"Thank you," She said. While he was working to no avail, Tempest started to wake up. "Hey sleepy," Feliss said smiling.

"Hey Feliss, did you find anything?" Tempest asked.

"Yeah you have, Langulium Quantricite in your system," Feliss said.

"…Seriously?" Tempest face-palmed and started digging through her bag. "After all these years, you think I would have figured it out." She pulled out a vial. "Good thing I always carry around the antidotes just in case." She said before downing the contents.

"You made an antidote?" Baljeet asked.

"Yeah, a long time ago, my specialty is poisons and toxins so in case there's an accident I always carry the antidotes for each of them." Tempest explained. "This one will take a while to make much of a difference though since your body has to compensate for what it missed."

"So you're going into a coma?" Feliss asked.

Tempest nodded, "Since it was in for so long for a few days, starting about… now." She said before hitting the examination seat thingy.

"I guess I should move her," Feliss sighed.

"Yeah, just get her to one of the rooms and I'll make sure to monitor her." Dr. Baljeet instructed.

"Alright, just don't try anything to clean her up." Felicity said seriously as she picked her up.

"Why not?" He asked.

"She has her reasons for being all dirty like this and you'd just anger her when she wakes up."

"Okay, I got it," He said fearfully.

"Who is she by the way?" Dr. Baljeet asked having never seen her before.

"Tempest she was my best friend then we lost touch," Feliss said.

Dr. Baljeet nodded understanding, "Alright, I'll make sure to take good care of her."

"You had better," Feliss said.

"I will," He gulped as Felicity took her to a room.

"See you late, Jeet!" She said smiling.

She left the room with Tempest in her arms. She brought her to the room next to Roslyn's.

Meanwhile Roslyn and Jessica were in the TV Room which was more like a movie theater with Cable and Satellite. "So, what do you want to watch?" Roslyn offered.

"Do you have movies?" Jessica asked.

Roslyn nodded, "Most of them, we honestly don't use this room very often though."

"Can we watch Iron Man?" She asked hopefully.

"Sure." Roslyn said and held up her hand, the movie went flying into it.

"Do all the movies do that?" Jessica said excitedly.

Roslyn nodded putting it in, "It's pretty cool I guess. It would come in a lot better handy if the book in the library did."

"Yeah I bet," Jessica said sitting down fairly close to Roslyn. Roslyn blushed slightly and didn't move away as she started the movie.

As the movie went on Jessica unknowingly began to lean on Roslyn. Roslyn noticed though, "Um… Jessica?"

"What?" She asked still watching the movie. Roslyn shifted her should slightly showing her where she was. "Oh uh, Sorry," Jessica said blushing and scooting away.

"It's okay," Roslyn said turning into the American flag again, "I didn't really mind."

"So can I...?" Jessica trailed off still red.

"…Sure." Roslyn said awkwardly.

Jessica lay her head back on Roslyn's shoulder.

'What is going on?' Roslyn thought looking at the girl on her shoulder.

"Are you okay?" Jessica asked looking at her.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Sorry, I'll move," Jessica said moving to get up.

"No, it's fine, really." Roslyn heard herself say, "I kind of like having you there."

"Are you sure?" Jessica asked.

Roslyn nodded, "Yeah, I'm sure, I'm not sure why but I'm sure."

"I kind of like being there," Jessica said honestly.

"Then I don't see any reason you should move."

"Thanks," Jessica said taking her place again.

"You're welcome." Roslyn said putting her arm around her.

"This is oddly comfortable," Jessica said suddenly nervous.

"Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what to think right now." Roslyn said honestly.

"Me either I mean...how do you feel like do you feel nervous?" Jessica asked.

"Yes, I do." Roslyn said looking down.

"Like a bit like when you met Eric?"

Roslyn hadn't even made that connection but, "Now that you mention it..."

"Very similar huh?" She asked.

"Yeah, but…" Roslyn said awkwardly, this was completely foreign to her, someone liking someone of the same gender that way.

"I know I mean...what do we do now?" Jessica asked.

"I'm not sure…" Roslyn said honestly having no idea.

"Me either I mean..." Jessica trailed off not knowing what to say.

"Well… maybe we could try… just to see if it really is something..." Roslyn trailed nervously.

"Try what?" Jessica asked.

"Never mind, it was a stupid idea." Roslyn said looking away.

"No what was it?" Jessica asked.

"Kiss? It's worth a try," Roslyn said nervously

"I guess it is." Jessica said scooting closer to Roslyn to where their noses are touching. Roslyn took a deep breath and moved forward pressing her lips to Jessica's. Roslyn was thrown back by how great this felt and wrapped her arms around Jessica not wanting her to pull away. Jessica's arms slid up and around, Roslyn's neck pulling them closer.

Eventually they had to separate for air. "That was..." Roslyn trailed.

"…Incredible," Jessica sighed after a pause.

"Yeah, but what does this mean?" Roslyn asked.

"Well, I've heard of this kind of thing before." Jessica said a little bit awkwardly.

"You have?" Roslyn asked since she had not.

"Well, yeah, there this thing called Sexual Preference or Sexual Orientation where there's people who only like people of the opposite gender known as heterosexual or straight, people who only like people of the same gender known as homosexual or gay, and people who I guess that would be us who like them both known as bisexual or just bi."

"So what do we do now?" Roslyn asked.

"Well, usually they just work the same way as if it were a boy."

"Do we tell my parents? Or keep it to ourselves for now?" Roslyn asked.

"It would probably be best to tell them now." Jessica said knowing that then most people are less likely to freak out.

"You'll come?" Roslyn asked.

"Sure," Jessica said though a little bit scared she knew she'll at least need some support just in case.

"Just one more thing before we go," Roslyn said before pressing her lips to Jessica's again. Jessica instantly returned the kiss but this one was a lot shorter. "We should go," Roslyn gulped. Jessica just nodded nervously.

Roslyn took her arm and they blurred off.
