A/N: Hope you like it.
Chapter 18
Roslyn stood nervously outside the library door wondering how her parents would react to this. She took a deep breath giving herself a mental pep talk, 'alright, you can do this. They're excellent parents. Of course they're going to be okay with this.'
"It'll be okay," Jessica said taking her hand.
"Right," Roslyn said taking deep breaths. "Let's just get this over with."
"Okay," She said opening the door.
"Mom, Dad," Roslyn said still nervous.
"Yes Roslyn?" Adam asked looking over at them.
"Well, there's something kind of awkward I need to tell you guys."
"What is it sweetie?" Feliss asked.
"I'm not even sure where to start." Roslyn admitted awkwardly.
"You can tell us anything," Adam said.
"Well... I think I'm bisexual."
To say they were surprised was a putting it lightly. "Really and what makes you think that?" Adam asked.
"Well, I was just sort of having those kinds of feelings towards Jessica and then we sort of... kissed."
"Oh, you did?" Feliss asked.
"Yeah, and I really liked it. I was nice."
"And your happy right?" Adam asked.
"Yes I am." Roslyn nodded.
"Well then, I see no problem do you?" Adam asked Feliss.
"Of course not, as long as she happy it's just… extremely surprising."
"So you're not mad?" Roslyn asked.
"Of course not," They both said.
She smiled not knowing who to hug first. That was solved when they both hugged her together. "I don't know what to say," She said. "I guess thank you first of all."
"No need," Adam said.
"You guys are great parents." She said hugging them back.
"We try," Feliss said.
"You succeed."
"Good," They both said.
"But don't you even think about hurting my daughter." Adam said to Jessica.
"I would never she's amazing,"
"You had better not, in any way." He said seriously.
"I won't," She promised.
"Well, then I see no problem." Adam said.
"Really?" She asked smiling.
"Well, you seem to make her happy." Felicity agreed.
"She does," Roslyn said.
"Then why would we want to take that away?" Felicity asked.
"You are the best parents," Jessica said.
"I told you," Roslyn said smiling widely.
"Most parents would be a little upset," Jessica said.
"We know," Adam and Felicity both said.
"You're both amazing," She said.
"So we've heard," Felicity said.
"So now what?" Jessica asked.
"What about your parents?" Roslyn asked her.
"I'm not sure how they will feel," She admitted.
"Shouldn't we see though?" Roslyn asked.
"Yeah, I guess," she said.
"I'm nervous though," Jessica admitted.
"Well what if we go with you two?" Feliss asked.
"Well, that might help." Jessica said thinking about it.
"Then we'll come," Adam said simply.
"Really?" She asked hopefully.
"Really," Adam said.
"Thank you!" Jessica said having a feeling that might really help.
"Would you like to go now?" Adam asked.
"Well, it would probably be better that way." Jessica said.
"Okay running or teleport?"
"Teleport?" Jessica asked surprised.
"Yeah," Adam said.
"Let's try that!" Jessica said excitedly.
"Okay, everyone in a circle," Adam said. So they did, "Where's your house?" He asked Jessica.
"East Magnolia Road," she said.
"Alright," Adam said and teleported them there.
"That was so fun!" Jessica said.
"More fun than super speed?" Roslyn asked her.
"About equal," she said.
"I still prefer super speed but that's just me." Roslyn shrugged.
"Well I don't have superspeed," Jessica said.
Roslyn thought about it for a second and looked over at the mom knowing she'd know what she meant where her oblivious dad would be her oblivious dad. "Maybe," Feliss said.
"Maybe what?" Jessica asked.
"I'll tell you later," Roslyn said.
"Alright," She said and led them to her house.
"Ready?" Roslyn asked.
"As I'll ever be," Jessica gulped.
Roslyn took her hand as she opened the door. "Mom, Dad," She said just as Roslyn had.
"Yes Jessica?" Her father asked.
"We need to have a talk." Jessica said nervously.
"Okay what about sweetie?" Her mother asked.
Jessica squeezed Roslyn's hand knowing the blunt strategy Roslyn used can't end well.
"What?" Her father asked. They took seats in the living room.
"Do you love me?" Jessica asked her parents.
"Of course we do." Her mother said.
"No matter what?" She asked.
"Where are you going with this, Jessica?" Her father asked instead of answering.
"I have some...surprising news," She said.
"Well, what is it?" He asked.
"I...well...I think I'm Bisexual dad," She said.
He just laughed at that though and said, "No, seriously. What is it?"
"I am being serious," She said knowing that this was not a good sign.
Her mother fainted as his eyes narrow catching her. "Absolutely not, and now look at what you've done to your poor mother. What on earth gave you such a ridiculous idea?"
"Well, I sort of have these feelings for Roslyn," Jessica said carefully.
"Absolutely not," He repeated. "Whatever stupid phase you think you're going through you better cut it out and start acting like a human being."
"How does being bi not make me human? I'm still the same person," She said defensively.
"No it doesn't! People like the opposite gender and ONLY the opposite gender! It's the way things work!"
"Yeah if this were the 1920's" Jessica said.
Roslyn could help but gasp as he reached over and slapped her across the check, "Don't you dare talk back to me."
In the blink of an eye her dad had Jessica's slammed against the wall and was holding him a foot off the ground by the shirt. "You lay a harmful finger on either of those girls again and I will break you do you understand me?" He asked growling.
He was surprised at how quickly this happened but countered, "and why shouldn't I? She's my daughter. She needs to be taught how to talk and behave right."
"She's your daughter and you should respect her choices!" Adam said.
"She's twelve! She's not old enough to be making those kinds of decisions on her own!"
"This is the age where they are supposed to start," Adam said.
"Not like this, this is the kind of thing. That will RUIN HER LIFE!"
"How? It makes her happy," Adam said.
"This is clearly just a phase but the second she goes out with a girl she'll never be able to be anything else."
"What makes you so sure this is a phase?" Adam asked.
"Because she can't be bi, no one else in our family has ever been gay or bi and everyone knows it's genetic."
"Who told you that?" Adam asked staring at the man.
"It's a scientific fact."
"No it's not!" Adam yelled. "In fact, given what I just saw, I can't allow you to continue custody over her." Adam pulled out his badge as Head of Firestorm and continued, "So under the grounds of emotional and physical abuse we are taking her under Firestorm Protection."
"You can't do that!" He said.
"Yes I can and will." Adam corrected seriously. "Go get your things Jessica,"
Jessica was to say the least shocked at the sudden turn of events but did go up to her room to do just so and Roslyn went with her
"So your dad… he's…" Jessica started awkwardly when they got there.
"Protective," Roslyn supplied.
"Well, yes but I meant with the…"
"Oh the powers?" She asked.
"You told me that already." She corrected starting to get annoyed as a red hand print was becoming prominent on her cheek, "I meant with Firestorm."
"Oh yeah he is, have you heard of them?" Roslyn asked.
"Of course I've heard of them."
"Really how?" Roslyn asked.
"I've heard stories. Mostly from back when or parents were our age. I didn't realize they were still up and running though."
"Of course they are there have just been no major threats since the day I was born," Roslyn said.
"He probably made sure of that didn't he?" Jessica asked as she packed. "I can't imagine what it must have been like for everyone back then."
"Back in the time of Doofenshmirtz?" Roslyn asked. Jessica just nodded. "Dad told me once," Roslyn said
"I almost don't want to know."
"I won't tell you then," She said.
"So, what is exactly going to happen with me?" Jessica asked.
"I think you're coming to live with us," Roslyn said.
"Really?" She asked turning to Roslyn.
"If you don't want to know," Roslyn said.
"What do you mean?" Jessica asked.
"You said you almost did not want to know," Roslyn said.
"But what does that have to do with anything?"
"I won't tell you if you don't want to know," Roslyn said.
"What does that have to do with if I come live with you guys?"
"Nothing," Roslyn said smiling.
"Then what was the point of all that?" Jessica asked.
"I think out loud sometimes," Roslyn shrugged.
"Alright but really?" Jessica asked again.
"Yeah you'll probably stay with us," Roslyn said.
"Back in the Manor?" She asked.
"Yeah," Roslyn said.
"Seriously?" She asked getting really excited.
"Yeah, seriously," Roslyn said.
"That would be awesome!"
"Really?" Roslyn asked smiling.
"Yeah, that place is amazing." Jessica said and Roslyn finally noticed how red her cheek was getting.
"How is your cheek?" She asked concerned.
"It'll be okay. It just stings."
"Let me look," She said. She step closer examining the handprint. "It's bad," She said
"So, what then?" Jessica asked.
"Well I think we have something back home for this," Roslyn said.
"Well, alright." Jessica shrugged and went back to gathering her stuff.
"Need some help?" Roslyn asked.
"Yes please." She blurred around the room packing things away. "I should have asked earlier." Jessica giggled.
"Yeah you should have," Roslyn said playfully poking her nose.
"I'll keep that in mind."
"Good," Roslyn said smiling.
They headed back down with it all. "Ready," Jessica said to the room at large.
Felicity immediately noticed the handprint. "Oh no that hand prints," She said worriedly.
"Roslyn said she could fix it." Jessica said.
"Did she now?" Feliss asked looking to her daughter.
"The lipstick," Roslyn said simply.
"Oh! Alright," Felicity said.
"Am I really going to the Manor?" Jessica asked. "She said that's probably it."
"Yes you are," Feliss said.
"That's amazing!" Jessica said excitedly.
"Glad you like the idea," Adam said still holding up her father.
"You can't take my daughter!" He said still struggling.
"I told you I can and I am," Adam said punching the man just hard enough his shirt ripped and the man flew into the chair unconscious. "So, let's go then." Adam said.
"Teleporter?" Jessica asked.
"Sure," Adam nodded and teleported them all back to the Manor.
They arrived in Roslyn's room, "Why my room?" Roslyn asked.
"Well it is closest to the open rooms," Adam said.
"Oh, right." Roslyn said now glad for that.
"So, get her cheek fixed then we can move her in," Felicity said.
"Right!" Roslyn smiled and got what looked like a normal stick of lipstick.
"Lipstick?" Jessica asked.
"It's not normal lipstick. My mom made it when I was little for minor wounds."
"How would lipstick help minor wounds?" Jessica asked as Roslyn coated her lips with a layer.
"You kiss it better." Roslyn smiled and kissed her cheek.
The hand print began to vanish as did the lipstick mark. Jessica touched her cheek in disbelief, "That's amazing!"
"Yeah, mom made it because the screwdrivers scared me when I was little," Roslyn said.
"Screwdrivers?" Jessica asked confused.
"Yeah, the sonic screwdrivers," Roslyn said.
"You mean like from Dr. Who?"
"Exactly," She said.
"You're kidding!" Jessica said in amazement.
"No really," Roslyn said smiling.
"Do they actually work?"
"Yeah," Roslyn shrugged.
"Yeah, they took a few years but I finally figured them out while Feliss was pregnant." Adam said.
"That is so cool! Can I see?" She asked.
Adam pulled it out and flipped to the claw. "To this day it's still the best thing I've made that isn't a person."
Roslyn blushed at that. "Daddy,"
"Yes?" He asked.
"You're embarrassing me."
"Sorry," He said smiling.
"Let's just find Jessica a room." Roslyn said still blushing.
"Okay," Adam said picking up her bags.
"The room next door's empty." Roslyn offered.
"I would like that," Jessica said.
"That works," Adam said. "I'll just take these there then."
"Can I decorate it however I want?" She asked.
"Of course," Adam nodded.
She got even more excited at that. "Yeah, it's a great place to live. There are just a lot of places you need to stay away from." Roslyn said.
"Why?" Jessica asked.
"You don't have the clearance."
"Oh, okay. Do you?" She asked Roslyn who shook her head. "Okay," Jessica sighed.
"Sorry," Roslyn shrugged.
"It's okay," She said.
So Roslyn ran through the list of where she can't go.
"Got it," Jessica said.
"Good, then let's go to your new room." Roslyn offered.
She nodded and followed. She led her just one door over and opened it. It was a plain but large with room with a walk in closet, and a queen size bed in the center. "They're mostly left to the individual's imagination." Adam said bringing her stuff in.
"Cool," Jessica said staring at it all.
"So, as I said, you can set it up in any way you like."
"Thank you so much!" She said hugging the adults.
"You're welcome, Jessica." Felicity said and returned it.
"I don't know what else to say," Jessica said.
"You don't have to," Feliss told her.
Jessica nodded smiling. "We're sure you'll love it here." Adam said. "There's also no safer place."
"It's true," Roslyn said.
"Have you heard of the 1st Dimension?" Roslyn asked.
"Yeah, it goes along with Firestorm stories," She said.
"Well, it's by far the safest place in both dimensions." Roslyn said.
"You think so?" Jessica asked.
"Undoubtedly," Roslyn nodded.
"Then I feel safe here," She said.
"Good, you should." Roslyn smiled.
"And I have all of you," she said.
"Exactly,"
"Whenever you want to shop let us know," Adam said.
"Wow, really?" Jessica asked.
"Yes really," Felicity said.
"Thank you," Jessica said with a big smile.
"Our pleasure," Adam said.
"This is all just so hard to believe." Jessica said.
"I'm sorry about your parents," Adam said.
Jessica wasn't sure what to say to that. "I am too," Roslyn said.
"Well, thank you." She said awkwardly.
"It never should have come to that," Adam said.
Jessica shook her head in agreement, "but it did."
"Well, you're safe here, but if for some reason you ever wish to return, I would let you," Adam said
"Did that kind of stuff happen often?" Roslyn asked worriedly.
"Well...not really," Jessica said hesitantly.
"So, what do you want then?" Roslyn asked.
"I want to stay here, he never hit me before, but the insults were normal just for different reasons," She said.
"I'm so sorry to hear about that." Roslyn said.
"Not your fault," She said.
"It's okay now though." Roslyn said and hugged her.
"I know," She said smiling.
"Good," Roslyn said happily.
"So, now what?" Jessica asked.
"Set up the room?" Roslyn suggested.
"Sounds like fun!" She said.
"Want some help with that?" Roslyn asked.
"I would love that." She said.
"Alright, how do you want it?" Roslyn asked.
"I like forests," Jessica admitted.
"We can work with that." Roslyn said thinking it over.
"Easily," Adam added.
"Perfect then," Jessica said.
"I hope so," Adam said.
"Let's get started then!"
"Roof or walls?" Adam asked.
"Huh?" Jessica asked confused.
"Where do you want to start?"
"Umm… floor." Jessica said.
"Okay do you mind dirt?" Adam asked.
"Not at all," Jessica said.
"Okay," He said blurring away. He returned in almost literally no time. "Everywhere?" He asked
"Could you leave a path to the door, bed, and closet?" She asked.
"Of course," Adam said.
"Please do," Jessica requested. Soon she was placed on her bed as Adam blurred pouring dirt. Once he was done from the floor it did seem like they were outside. "Nice!" Jessica said happily.
"So, walls or ceiling next?" Adam asked.
"Ceiling," Jessica said now excited.
"Well, for the how about we use a hologram to make it seem like you don't have one?" Adam suggested.
"You can do that?" She asked.
"Sure we can, it's not that hard actually." Adam said.
"You are so cool!" She said.
"Thank you," Adam said simply.
"We try," Feliss said.
"Well, you definitely succeed." Jessica said.
"Good," Roslyn said.
"Now I know why you're so cool," Jessica said to her. Roslyn smiled proudly. "So, how do you do it?" Jessica asked Adam.
"Install a hologram projector."
"Do you have one already?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah I just need a few minutes and a ladder," he said.
"I'll get the ladder." Roslyn offered blurring off.
"She is so on top of things," Jessica said.
"Yeah, just don't leave her out of any kind of project with the exception of if it's for her birthday, otherwise she gets pretty made that she couldn't help." Adam warned.
"Good to know, she is amazing" Jessica said.
Just then, Roslyn arrived with the ladder. "Thanks Roslyn," Adam said.
"You're welcome, Daddy." Roslyn smiled. "Where do you need it?"
"Over near the far wall," Adam said.
Roslyn nodded and took it there. "Good now do you want to go in my inventing room and get the hologram projector?" He asked.
"Which are you asking?" Jessica asked.
"Both of you if you want," Adam said.
"I would like to see it." Jessica said.
"Okay, Roslyn will you take her while I figure out the right angles for this?" Adam asked.
"Of course," Roslyn said and grabbed Jessica's wrist blurring her there.
"Ready?" She asked outside the door.
"Ready," Jessica said excitedly.
Roslyn pushed open the door to reveal a futuristic room. "Wow!" Jessica beamed looking around it. Everything was metallic and chrome like and there were several devices she had never seen before anywhere. "Amazing," She said as Roslyn got the projector.
"Yeah, this one is for mom and dad only," Roslyn said.
"So, are you sure this is the one we were supposed to go to?"
"Yes I am," Roslyn said.
"Well, alright then."
"Ready to go back?" She asked.
"Do I have to?"
"No, we can look around," Roslyn said.
"I would prefer to do that."
"Okay," Roslyn said smiling.
"Do you know what these things do?" Jessica asked looking around.
"Most of them," she said.
"Could you tell me about a few then?" She asked.
"Sure!" She looked around trying to choose one.
"What about that?" she asked pointing to what she hoped was jet pack.
"It's a jet pack and smoothie maker," Roslyn said.
"That is the most original combination I've ever heard of. Are the smoothies good?"
"Yeah you stock it with fresh ingredients before you go," Roslyn said.
"That is so cool!" Jessica said looking it over but not touching it and saw where they would go in.
"Amazing!" She said
"Yes it is, we should go now though." Roslyn said.
"Okay," Jessica sighed.
"Wanna blur?" Roslyn asked holding out the arm that wasn't holding the projector.
"Is it too hard for you?" She asked.
"Not really," Roslyn said.
"You sure?"
"I'm sure," Roslyn said with a smile.
"Okay," She said.
She took her arm and they were back in Jessica's room in milliseconds, "Still so fun!" She said.
"I know right." Roslyn smiled.
"Roslyn, what are we now?" Jessica asked.
"Well… umm… what do you want to be?"
"I don't know...I like you though," She said.
"I like you, too." Roslyn said.
"So, can we...date or not?" Jessica asked.
"Are you asking me or them?" Roslyn chuckled.
"You," She said.
"I would like to." Jessica said.
"So what do we do?" Jessica asked.
"I think we should go out." Roslyn said.
"Well then will you go out with me?" Jessica asked.
"Yes," Roslyn said smiling widely. Jessica smiled and hugged her kissing her cheek.
Felicity let out a small smile seeing that. "It is sweet," She muttered to herself.
"I can hear you." Roslyn mumbled to her mom.
"Sorry," She said. Roslyn leaned in and kissed Jessica on the lips and Jessica kissed her back. 'Still sweet,' Felicity thought to herself. She looked over at her husband who seemed to think the same but was keeping a close eye on Jessica. She rolled her eyes smiling
'You never know.' He mouthed.
'It'll be fine.' She mouthed back.
'You said the same thing about Eric.'
'I was wrong then, I'm not now'
'I hope you aren't.'
'I'm not!' She mouthed. Adam hesitated but nodded so she nodded back smiling.
