AN: SOSOSOSOSOSOOOOSORRY I HAVENT UPDATED IN FOREVER BUT I'M BACK NOW AND I HAVE A CHAPTER SO ENJOY EVEN THOUGH THERE'S NOBODY OUT THERE BECAUSE IVE BEEN GONE SO LONG

Also is it bad that I have to search up Nathan's name before each chapter because I always forget it

Chapter 4: Sweet Dreams and Beautiful Nightmares

"So that's how it..." Jodie trailed off, the information slowly sinking in.

"That's what we're speculating."

"So… those headaches I was getting… that was… Aiden?"

"Again, it's just a theory."

"Aiden can talk."

"Theory, Jodie. Theory."

"My entity can freaking talk… this is nuts…"

"How many times do I have to say it? It's just a-"

"A theory!" Jodie jumped out of her chair, her eyes lighting up with an idea. She began to exit, but spun back around and Grabbed Nathan's shoulders.

"Permission to leave?" She asked. He blinked a couple times in confusion.

"I think that's the first time you've ever asked permission for… well, anything, actually…" He said with a small chuckle.

"Permission to leave?" She pressed, speaking through clenched teeth. He nodded and waved her off. "Sure, sure. Long as you to make anything explode, I'm good."

"Can't make any promises."

She sprinted down the hall and into her room. Aiden watched curiously and a bit anxiously as she pulled out a notepad and a pencil.

"I know you can hear me, Aiden… and now I know you can talk too. And I've known for a while that you can manipulate things on the material plain… so can you write something for me?" She asked, looking around the room as if trying to locate him. He began to reach out for the pencil, but then recoiled. If it exploded, he might hurt her.

He scanned the room, then an idea hit him. He hovered down to the floor and got to work.

"Aiden? Are you there?" Jodie slapped her forehead. "What am I saying, of course you're there. But can you write something for me? You know, without making it explode?" She waited for a few seconds and then fell back onto her bed. "Ugh. Damn, I was really excited for a second, too…"

She inhaled through her nose and then blinked. She sniffed a couple more ties and sat up. "Hmm…?" She looked around for the source of the scent. "Smells like something's… burning…" She crawled to the edge of her bed and gasped.

There, burned into the carpet, were two words.

HI JODIE.

He was tall, and skinny. Very skinny. Brunette, his hair was… chestnut. And shaggy, it fell in his eyes. His eyes… bright blue. Icy. Almost as if they had snowflakes in them. But they were still warm and caring.

At least, that's what he looked like in Jodie's dream.

Aiden, that is.

"And to think I imagined you as a shapeless blob of nothing. Is that what you really look like, Aiden?"

Aiden nodded furiously and burnt a check into the rug with his fingernails.

"Oh wow… this might work…" Jodie stood and walked over to the door and opened it. "I'll go tell Nathan…"

The door slammed shut.

Aiden burned an 'X' into the carpet. Jodie stared. "So… don't tell Nathan." He re-burned the check.

Jodie laughed. "Well, when he comes in here he'll be curious about the burn marks on the carpet." Suddenly, she got an idea.

"Wait, I got it!" She said. She reached for the doorknob again. She sprinted out of the room before Aiden could follow. Aiden quickly drifted after her, hanging back a bit just in case she was going to Nathan.

When he finally caught up, she was talking to Nathan. Wow. Shocker.

"That's ridiculous." Nathan was saying. Aiden frowned. She told him.

"No, it's not." Jodie pressed, crossing her arms. "Look, can you find me one or not?" Nathan sighed, giving in.

"I don't know. I'll look." He said, pushing his glasses further up his nose. Jodie grinned. "Yes! Thanks, I owe you one!" She ran back down the hall, waving over her shoulder.

"You owe many many!" He called after her. Aiden watched as he turned around, headed the opposite direction. What could she have possibly wanted?

He followed her down the hall. He'd just have to wait and see.
