Just a heads up. If you haven't seen Tangled, this chapter probably won't make a lot of sense. In which case, go see Tangled already!

But to those of you who have seen it (and liked it), you're in for a treat.

;)

"Well, gentlemen, here we are," you announce to Marshmallow and Olaf. "Corona."

The smaller snowman's eyes widen with wonder. "Whoa. It's so pretty. I love it."

The larger snowman nods in agreement. "Pretty."

"Come on," you say to them. "Rapunzel and Eugene are waiting for us at the palace."

That evening, exhausted and hungry after travelling, you and the snowmen are welcomed by the royal family of Corona.

At dinner you tell the four of them the situation with Mother Dunkel and her link to Gothel, the woman who kidnapped Rapunzel and locked her in a tower for eighteen years.

"Oh, my," gasps the Queen of Corona, hands over her heart. "So, the rumours are true, then. My niece is in trouble."

"She is," you confirm, heartbreak etched onto your features.

The King of Corona places a hand on his wife's shoulder. He knows how much she cares about Anna and Elsa.

As children, before the first 'ice accident', the girls would regularly accompany their parents on royal visits.

Back then, the King and Queen of Corona were still in despair over the absence of their own daughter. To have two little princesses running around the castle brought them a lot of temporary joy.

"I must ask," the queen says. "Why Corona? What do you hope to find here?"

You narrow your eyes in thought. "Well, this is where Mother Gothel's tower is located. Even if Dunkel hasn't taken Elsa there, surely it's the best place to search for clues on their whereabouts."

Rapunzel exchanges a look with her husband.

He nods.

"Eugene and I will guide you there," she says.

You smile at them. "Thank you. I'm sure it can't be easy going back there. You both went through so much."

Rapunzel shrugs. "We want to help."

Eugene puts his arm around her and grins at you. "Exactly. It's the least we can do."

"Tomorrow, though," the king says in his deep, rich voice. "You and your companions must be tired."

You glance between Olaf and Marshmallow. "We are."

The handmaids show the three of you to the largest guest bedroom in the castle.

Marshmallow curls up in a corner and immediately falls asleep.

Olaf drapes himself at the foot of the bed and gazes out the window longingly. "The sky is awake," he sighs, "so I am awake."

You don't bother undressing for bed. You don't have the energy.

An hour later, Olaf has drifted off, but you're still tossing and turning.

You can't sleep without knowing your beloved is safe.

"Oh, Elsa," you whisper. "Please be okay."

In the morning, you, Olaf and Marshmallow head down to the dining room for breakfast with Eugene and Rapunzel.

Once everyone has eaten and a plan has been discussed, the five of you go outside to meet a small army of Coronian royal guards led by a white horse.

"Hey, Max!" exclaims Eugene, patting the horse and feeding him an apple.

Maximus gives an appreciative whinny.

A tiny green chameleon perched atop the horse's head hops off and lands on Rapunzel's shoulder, nuzzling her affectionately.

"Ready for another adventure, Pascal?" she asks.

The chameleon nods.

Wait. What? Chameleons don't nod, do they?

You suppose it isn't that strange when you consider the fact that you're travelling with two living snowmen.

Rapunzel, Eugene and Pascal mount Maximus.

Marshmallow lifts you and Olaf onto his shoulders.

The king and queen arrive to see you all off as the princess and her husband lead their small army of royal guards.

You follow them through the main town, across the bridge, out to the woods.

To call the journey arduous would be an understatement. But despite this, none of that matters. You'd do anything to have Elsa back.

It's nightfall by the time you reach your destination - a tall, thin tower at the centre of a deep, lush valley.

This is Rapunzel's former home, her prison from which reformed thief Flynn Rider - now known as Eugene Fitzherbert - helped her escape.

Your heart aches at the idea that Elsa might be in there. It's crying out for you to rush to her rescue.

Your brain on the other hand is advising you to remain calm, to wait, to not try anything without notifying your comrades first.

Quite rightly, you decide to do the wise thing and listen to your brain.

While you're outside devising a plan with Rapunzel and Eugene, inside the tower, a dark event begins to unfold.

Mother Dunkel is making the final preparations for the transferal ritual, while her daughters are dragging Elsa's bruised and beaten form up to the tower's highest level.

"Heidi, secure her to the altar," their mother orders. "Wilhelmina, bring me Gothel's spellbook."

Moonlight is pouring into the tower through a window in the roof, shining directly onto a stone table.

Heidi carries the limp, half-conscious queen over to the table and lays her on top of it, then proceeds to tie the blonde's wrists and ankles to each corner.

"Please," Elsa manages to utter, seconds before finally succumbing to full unconsciousness.

Returning from the tower library on the floor below, Wilhelmina brings Dunkel a thick, ominous-looking book with ancient symbols carved into the cover and spine.

Dunkel opens the book and finds the page she's searching for.

"Here," she purrs. "Power transferal."

She places the book on a stone podium beside the table and starts reading, reciting the desired spell.

The book then glows eerily.

"Dunkel!" a voice yells from outside. "We know you're in there! Release her!"

It's yours.

The older sorceress instructs the younger two to go and confront you while she completes the spell.

You're stood at the bottom of the tower with your friends and the royal guards.

Wilhelmina and Heidi leap out from an alcove at the top of the tower and land on the grass below unharmed.

You unsheathe your sword the king and queen gave you, the skin on your hands - which are now gloved - still recovering from the damage they received when you last battled these two.

Marshmallow roars at them.

Eugene and Rapunzel wield their frying pans.

The guards adopt defensive positions, especially around their princess.

Maximus takes Olaf and Pascal off to a safer distance.

You all brace yourselves. You'll fight for Elsa no matter what.

Quickly, the sorceresses conjure up an army of rock monsters from the surrounding valley, enough of them to match your numbers.

"Aw, great," Eugene remarks. "Magic monsters. Just great."

Rapunzel nudges him with her hip, reminding him to concentrate.

He nods. "Sorry, blondie."

The rock monsters attack!

Your group is forced to disperse.

They're trying to separate you, to pick you off one by one.

You're not too worried about Marshmallow. He can hold his own.

Unlike everybody else, Rapunzel and Eugene have managed to stick together, fighting back to back.

It's only yourself and the guards who are most at risk.

Over the course of the next few minutes, you cut down at least three monsters as you make your way towards the pair of sisters responsible for creating them.

Heidi notices how close you are.

Wilhelmina commands one of the monsters - as large as Marshmallow - to grab you.

Hearing her, you dodge the monster's arm in time and retaliate with a swipe to its wrist, cutting the hand clean off.

The monster howls in pain as you run up the length of its arm to strike with a finishing blow.

You plunge your sword into the crown of its rocky head and it collapses into a pile of lifeless rubble.

Wilhelmina and Heidi don't even recognise you. Where has that weakling they so easily subdued the day they kidnapped Queen Elsa gone?

You charge at them, sword raised and shouting, "This is what happens when you mess with my girl!"

Terrified, they attempt to blast dark magic at you, missing each and every shot.

Rapunzel is startled by an onslaught of shrieks. "Eugene," she says, smacking a monster in the face with her frying pan, "you hear that?"

"I did," her husband answers, also dealing with an enemy.

They both look in your direction to see you covered in...black dust?

Your expression is grim.

The couple runs towards you, asking if you're okay and to provide an explanation.

Slowly, the monsters still in combat with Marshmallow and the royal guards are beginning to crumble away.

The sorceresses Heidi and Wilhelmina are nowhere to be seen.

Eugene figures it out straightaway. "I'm sorry you had to do that," he says, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Really."

His wife realises what's happened and throws her arms around you in a sympathetic embrace. "Come on," she whispers. "Let's go save my cousin."

Producing a single tear, you hug her back and nod.

Eugene gets jealous and squeezes in. "Room for one more?"

You, him and Rapunzel share a light-hearted chuckle.

Marshmallow taps you on the shoulder. "We go get Mama now?"

"Yes," you respond, inspecting the tower. "Only, Rapunzel, how in the world do we get inside? There's no door!"

The brunette gestures to her head. "You know I used to have seventy-five feet of magic blonde hair, right?"

You sheathe your sword. "Anna might've mentioned it."

"Well..." She explains how her hair was Gothel's method of entry to the tower.

"Hmm. That's a problem," you think aloud, tapping your chin.

"You think?" Eugene says.

Ignoring him, you get an idea. "Marshmallow, throw me."

"What?" Rapunzel exclaims. "You can't be serious!"

Her reaction amuses you. "I'm afraid I am."

You reason that rather than spend ages climbing the tower, Marshmallow's strength can get you up there in seconds.

Eugene and Rapunzel glance at each other as if you're crazy.

"Yeah..." Eugene says. "We'll climb."

"Suit yourself," you say.

Marshmallow picks you up and prepares to launch.

Rapunzel cups her hands around her mouth. "Good luck!"

"Thank-" You're cut off in mid-sentence as the snowman releases you into the air, towards the tower alcove. "-you both for everything!"

"You're welcome!"

Just barely, you successfully reach the ledge and pull yourself up, breathlessly waving down to your friends to show them you're alright.

A hauntingly familiar scream from the top of the tower claims your attention.

"Elsa!"

Sword drawn, you sprint up there without a second thought.

You hear her call your name.

"Hold on! I'm coming!"

She begs for your help, tone laced with desperation.

Mother Dunkel's voice is chanting something in the background, in a language you don't understand.

"Let her go, witch!" you roar, arriving at the altar.

The scene before you causes your stomach to churn.

Elsa - bound to a stone table, barefoot with her dress torn and bloody - the life being drained from her body.

Dunkel is reading from some dusty old book.

Your whole form is trembling with rage as you march towards the older woman.

Your fingers curl around the hilt of your sword. You're prepared to kill her if that's what it takes to free Elsa.

"I said let her-"

A flash of light knocks you off your feet and flying into a wall at the opposite end of the tower.

Ears ringing and lying splayed out on the floor, you lift your head in time to witness the worst scenario possible.

Dunkel is cackling to herself once the last drop of the Snow Queen's power becomes her own.

Elsa's hair suddenly turns a dark brown, like her mother's you've seen in the portraits back at the castle. And her skin is now a ghostly pale.

She's too weak to even speak. The ritual has proven too much for her lovely, delicate body to handle.

Fixing her gaze on you, those eyes - those icy blue sapphires - start to glaze over.

Everything feels wrong.

"N-No. Elsa," you gasp, arm stretched out in a hopeless effort to touch her. "Please. Don't leave me."

The blonde's eyelids struggle to stay open. They're growing heavier by the second.

She can't. This can't be happening. Not to Elsa.

Tears are streaming down your cheeks. "I love you. So much."

That's when her eyes close forever.

Not much else to say except that you all have my deepest condolences.

Also, credit to ElsatheIceQueen1 for the idea of Elsa's hair turning brown like her mother's.

Again, my sincerest apologies to you all.
