Title: Growing Pains
Chapter 11 – Sins of a Father
A/N: Oh I know the show has been disappointing in the broment area and hopefully in the second half of this season we'll get more but I hope you all stick with my story and like this update and thanks! Enjoy :)
Both Casey and Severide look at each other, literally mouths agape and dumbfounded.
"So…" Severide's lips finally get some direction from his brain. "Heather and Kevin dated for two years and then…you told them they were blood related?"
"Ouch," Casey offers with a tormented grimace as Scott looks up and nods.
"Valid reason why they hate me…even now. Understandably so. Never meant for any of this to happen but…but it did. Said they always felt a connection to each other; that's why. Kinda twisted I know…like Donnie and Marie…" Scott offers with a small smirk as he takes another swig of the whiskey. "After that…she moved and wouldn't talk to him. Maybe they do now as adults; hope so at least to have some kinda family for each other. I heard she landed herself in jail; figured he got the boys, being their Uncle and all. Figure no matter what blood has to be there for you in your darkest hour right?"
Casey's head gently sinks as he tries to make sense of the whole sordid mess that they were now entrenched in.
"Probably more than you boys wanted to know right?"
"Actually," Casey pauses as Severide looks over in anxiety, "it explains…almost everything."
"Yeah…thanks," Severide offer just as slowly as Casey.
"Well then…glad I could help," Scott huffs as he looks back down at his drink. "If you see Kevin…tell him I'm sorry. About…you know not keeping in touch."
"Trust me," Severide offers, "he'd much rather hear it from you."
With that the two of them slowly head back toward the entrance; steeped in contemplative silence and not saying a word until Casey's truck was started.
"I almost don't know whether to believe all that or not," Severide mentions as he looks out the window.
"If you had been having an affair with your half-sister and your father told you only after you two had been intimate wouldn't you be…"
"Angry enough to kill?" Severide gently hisses. "Maybe she thought Andy knew and told me and…"
"Would explain her not wanting to be around the House or Hadley…or you," Casey adds as he finally pulls away from the legion hall. "And that's probably what he broke into the Darden house for; proof of their innocent…incest."
"Unbelievable. You have to feel sorry for both of them after learning the truth," Severide mutters as he shakes his head; his stony gaze kept facing the window. "So now…he comes to her in her time of need…that sibling bond and offers to help."
"Damn. He's jealous because despite the fact that he's family, he's once again shut out by family," Casey states in a somber tone. "That explains why he's always hanging around us and the boys and was at the school. Yes he wanted to show me up but maybe he genuinely wants to help…his nephews? He's just torn between hatred and obligation."
"This is all so…absurd. I almost feel sorry for him."
"Well I certainly understand the anger towards life and the system and…life," Casey huffs as he glances over at Severide with a concerned expression.
"Yeah…" Severide looks over at Casey with a small frown. "I just…it's a lot to take in. Half brother and sister…you hear about this kinda stuff on…"
"Jerry Springer?" Casey remarks lightly as Severide's face finally softens. "But it does happen. And after that…it makes sense why Heather would want to move away and not talk to Kevin again."
"And then she finds out her husband is now working at the same House as her half-brother…who…she had a high school relationship with for two years. It also explains her anger and resentment toward the House. She had to say it was directed at me to keep her true feelings toward Hadley from being discovered. She hated that he reminded her of their father's mistake…his silence ruined their lives and their lives…were already messed up thanks to him. Plus she blamed me for his death and that's probably also helped fuel Hadley's hatred toward us. His sister is first made a widow at work and then on the anniversary of that death ends up in jail. It could be traced back to Andy's death if they are looking for real blame."
"Makes sense why they came together. Both from broken homes…"
"Yeah the same one…two different mothers, same father…they connected, bonded, got close and…wow I'd hate my father too if I found that out," Severide groans as he shakes his head. "Now everyone I date I'll hafta ask for a DNA sample first. Benny Severide…father of the year."
"Oh I think he's sharing that award with Scott Hadley," Casey reminds him in a grave tone.
"Well I don't think we have to worry about stopping at the Darden house anymore. He's ashamed of us finding out the truth and I can't blame him. I'm guessing the first time he tried to find something on his own. Failed. Went to see Heather. She told him where it was; probably a picture or maybe even a birth certificate or something very incriminating. He went back and got it. That's why nothing else was taken and the dirt was only in one specific spot. It seemed odd to us but not anymore. He got it and that's it."
"Probably right," Casey agrees as he directs the truck for home instead of toward the Darden house.
"Can't help but think of my dad and what else he should be telling me."
"First we need to concentrate on finding Hadley and ending this. At least now we understand his motivation. It's business and it's personal."
"Yeah and don't forget he hates us because he sees in us what he and Graham had and lost. If he can't be happy and have a close bond with a male friend, why should any of us? Two strong motives, that's not good," Severide mentions as he glances in the side mirror.
"What?" Casey asks in haste.
"I…nothing. I think I'm just paranoid now, although…now I want to find him and confront him with the truth. All of it. Maybe when he knows we know, he'll back off for good. Leave town."
"Or try to take us both out because he know the truth about his past and as you mentioned we represent what he no longer has," Casey offers somewhat fatefully.
"Yeah, he's not worried about that as when he does, his nephews will be his…not the state's. We still hafta find him and fast."
But they don't have to wait too long for that request to be fulfilled as within a few seconds, a dark sedan literally comes up behind them out of nowhere; Severide glancing in his mirror just as the car comes within inches.
"Matt!" Severide shouts just as the front end of Hadley's sedan connects with the back of Casey's truck; forcing him to try to compensate for the sudden lurch and keep from going into oncoming traffic. "Damn bastard!" Severide growls as Casey gets them back into their lane.
"My…"
"What's wr…ah damn!" Severide curses again as the truck is struck from behind; this time slightly swerving to the right. Casey's hands frantically try to turn the wheel to the other direction to counter the spin, but he's unable and the front right side of the truck clips the end of semi-trailer; Severide quickly leaning to the left as the side mirror pops off and slams into the window before clattering to the road and being crunched under Hadley's front wheel.
"He's gonna…kill someone!" Casey grunts as he tries to slam on the breaks; finding them sluggish to his panicked command.
"Yeah us!"
"The breaks…Kelly they won't…respond!" Casey states in a panicked tone as he realizes he has to get off the busy street. He suddenly swerves to the right and ducks into a back alley. "Is he still with us?"
"Yes!"
"She's not…she's not responding to….ah damn…" Casey stammers as he momentarily glances down at the hopping speedometer.
"MATT LOOK OUT!" Severide shouts as Casey looks back up, his eyes widening at the large city truck slowly backing into their path. His foot frantically pumps the breaks until he finally feels them catching; the angry vehicle coming to a sudden, jerking stop; Casey swerving to his side so the left front of the truck lightly collides with the back of the garbage truck. Both of them jerk forward and then slam backward into the seats, Casey's head slightly hitting the overhead frame.
"I'm gonna…kill him…" Severide hisses as he tries to get out of the passenger side. He angrily kicks at the door, telling himself he'd apologize to Casey later and hops out; Hadley's car slamming into reverse and screeching backward until he literally leaves a strip of rubber and peels away and out of view. "BASTARD!" Severide shouts as two very bewildered garbage men get out and look at each other and then at the two shaken fire fighters.
"You okay?" Severide asks protectively as Casey nods and then pulls the lever to open his hood.
"Yeah fine…but I think he damaged the brake line," Casey growls as starts to examine his truck; Severide going to talk to the two curious city workers.
"Well?" Severide ask as he walks back to Casey.
"Small cut…enough to drain the brake fluid….just not as quickly. It would have given out sometime today though. He counted on that," he huffs; Severide noticing his hand slightly shaking. "He wants one of us to go out like Graham did. He wants one of us to suffer…losing the other. I…"
"Matt…" he states as his hand rests on his arm and Casey looks up with a weak expression.
"I'm okay. Kelly…I'm okay," Casey states with tight lipped expression; his eyes pleading with Severide to leave it alone for now – he was fine.
"Okay. Got any electrical tape?"
"Check the back but I doubt I have enough fluid to get us home safely. I'll call Christie and let her know we're having some truck troubles."
"I'll call for help," Severide grumbles as he pulls his phone. At first he ponders calling his father, knowing as soon as he told him they were in need of brake fluid that Benny would come by willingly but with a bunch of questions. Could they tell him that they went against his expressed command to stay away from Hadley and investigated on their own? Finding the real motive behind the hatred?
"Kelly?" Casey's concerned tone inquires, forces him to look up with a perplexed glance. "What?"
"I'll call my mechanic. Just not in the mood for being read the riot act right now," he grumbles as he places the call and then waits, Casey checking over the other areas under the hood.
"Everything else seems to be in order…I think," Casey sighs as he watches the large city truck pull forward, signaling to them to move their truck over to the side if possible and clear the alleyway. Casey slips the truck into neutral and along with Severide and the help from one of the workers, his truck is moved over to the side to wait for help to arrive.
"What were the boys doing?"
"Eating smores," Casey replies with an easy smile. "Christie spoils them."
"I think we should take Cooper up on his offer about the outdoor skating rink."
"Yeah if we live long enough," Casey mutters as he looks down, looking up a few seconds later to see Severide purse his lips and frown. "All this has really put things into perspective. I get his desperation. He tells Bruce he'll bring his boys by…his nephews…wanting to make him proud. Never had much praise all his life…"
"His first love is his half-sister," Severide shakes his head. "After that he just couldn't commit and now…now he's desperate. Telling one man one thing and stealing from another…just to get back to the two men who are charged with looking after his nephews by his half-sister."
"Damn," Casey lightly huffs, "call Jerry Springer. I do feel sorry for him."
Severide offers him an amused glance but nods in agreement. A few moments later, Severide's mechanic shows up, stopping behind the truck and then telling them he won't be too long and they'd soon be on their way. They had both made an agreement to confront Benny Severide together but not today…today was long enough and they wanted to get home and be with the boys – spending time as a makeshift family and helping the boys see that they were the most important thing, despite a few minor setbacks of the day.
"Thanks John," Severide shakes his mechanic's hand as Casey puts his wallet away – insisting this was his mess as Severide already had his own vehicular issues to worry about thanks to Kevin Hadley. "Ready?"
"Yup," Casey comments as he hops back into the driver's seat and they slowly limp away from the alley, reentering the busy street – no sigh of Kevin Hadley.
"It's a good bet he's seen us coming out of that legion. If he knows his father was in there…then he knows we know."
"And that'll push his anger possibly over the edge. You gotta talk to your father, get him to talk to the AI team to at least issue an arrest warrant on suspicion."
"They don't even know where he is," Severide grumbles.
"Tell him to hang around us," Casey remarks in sarcasm.
The two of them talk a bit more about the surprising news they learned today, the topic quickly being shut off as soon as they arrive at Christie's but both knowing that out there somewhere…in the dawning twilight hours was a vengeful man waiting to strike. And with all the inner angst and hatred he were carrying inside him – the next strike could very well be the last – fatal.
"You guys okay?"
"Uncle Matt! Uncle Kelly!" Ben exclaims as he rushes toward them, quickly being scooped up in Severide's arms and receiving a warm embrace.
"We were getting worried," Griffin tells Casey with a more serious expression; his body tense in Casey's grasp.
"Flat tire…nothing major," Casey looks down with a tight smile; only Severide knowing the real truth, Christie only having been told they were having truck trouble. "But it was an alleyway and it took a bit of time for help to arrive. But we're okay. You guys hungry?"
"No!" Both state at once and then laugh as Casey's mock hurt expression.
"Did you two eat by any chance?" Christie asks and then smiles lightly; Violet at her mother's side. "Come on."
Casey and Severide follow his sister into the kitchen and sit down at the table, both of them talking to the boys and delighting in their stories as Christie fixes them a plate of leftovers. After that they all offer her a thank-you hug and head for home.
"So who's ready for bed when we get home?" Severide asks loudly, Casey slightly raising his hand and offering a sheepish glance; earning two snickers from the boys and an eye roll from Severide. "Uncle Matt is getting old," he teases as they head into their house.
"I missed my afternoon nap."
"You don't nap," Griffin states matter-of-factly as Casey looks at him and wags is brows, forcing the young boy's face to soften and a grin to appear. "You do?"
"Oh yeah all the time at the House," Severide joins in as he slaps Casey on the back. "Never gets any work done."
"Poor Uncle Matt," Casey offers in mock seriousness as Ben starts to laugh. "Okay who wants to play some Risk?"
"ME!" Three voices all shout in unison. The four of them shed their coats and head into the living room, Casey setting up the board game on the table and each of them settling in and taking their respective pieces. The game goes along for two enjoyable hours, Casey being declared the clear winner and the other three bowing out in defeat but refusing to call him the ruler of the world.
As per their routine, Severide takes Ben up to get ready for bed, Casey easing himself down beside Griffin for a few moments before it would be lights out. "Good day at school today?"
"I only got a B on my last math test. Think mom will be mad?"
"No," Casey replies in truth as he offers the young boy a tender smile. "She'll be very proud of you as always. I'm also very proud of you. I did pretty well at math in school."
"Did Uncle Kelly?"
"I don't think so, but don't tell him that," Casey snickers as he playfully ruffles Griffin's hair. "Did your mom ever mention if she had any siblings? Like if you guys have an Uncle or aunt?"
"No. She always said she was an only child and our grandparents died in a car accident a few years before I was born," Griffin answers in truth; Casey now wondering about the real whereabouts of Heather's mom as he knows her father is very much alive and well. As much as it pains him to see the sad look on Griffin's face about not having grandparents, he knows it's not his place to tell the young boy the truth. That was Heather's life…he was just a temporary sub-plot in the grand scheme of things. Still….it was bothersome.
"Goodnight," Casey whispers as he kisses Griffin on the top of his head and then turns off the light and leaves the room, eyeing Severide at the end of the hall and slowly heading toward him; the two of them heading downstairs to unwind a bit and then try to get some sleep.
"I asked Griffin if Heather ever told him about Uncle's or grandparents. She's a single child and her parents are dead," Casey huffs as they linger at the bottom of the stairs.
"Wonder if Andy ever knew the truth about her parents? Maybe not Hadley but then…if he did he never said anything," Severide shakes his head as he pulls away and disappears into the bathroom, Casey watching in wonder. He pops back out a few seconds later waving the small first aid kit in his hand and Casey's head slightly drooping.
"Forgot my tube top," Casey snickers as Severide gestures for him to remove his sweater; the two of them heading into the kitchen where there was more light. "I'm going to come clean with Heather about all this," Casey confesses as he eases himself down onto a nearby stool and pulls off his tee.
"She's gonna be pissed we know about all this…the fact that we know the whole truth she's hidden all her life," Severide comments as he gently pulls away the thick padding from Casey's injured neck.
"I know but she should have come clean with all this, especially when I told her that she can't trust Hadley. She just went along with it like it was no big deal. Her half-brother. I know siblings fight and stuff but this…this goes beyond a bit more than a sibling spat."
"And you think telling her you know all this is a good idea?"
"I…" Casey pauses as his face gently winces from the cream put onto the edge of the burnt skin. "I'm torn. We know. She should know we know. Hadley's games make sense. His approach is wrong but he's bitter and jaded and…"
"Bitter," Severide notes sourly as he affixes another soft bandage over Casey's burn and then starts to put the kit away, Casey offering a soft thank you before he stands up with a heavy sigh.
"Maybe I'll sleep on it," Casey huffs as he looks at Severide in remorse. "I guess us dealing with all this is a lot better than the boy's finding out their Uncle is trying to hurt them by hurting us. To them…he's a stranger no matter how he's related."
"Tough call. Yup better to sleep on it. And tomorrow? Anymore shed's to build?" Severide asks with some amusement.
"Tree House."
"What? Seriously? Don't you ever sleep in?" Severide groans as he reaches for one of the boys playthings and tosses at Casey's head; Casey easily ducking it and then retrieving the toy.
"I think the initial tension has been broken between us all…I just wanted something for the boys to do with us altogether. But with the games and the meals and homework…taking them away from this would be wrong. Heather knows that but I get the struggle. I do. It would be the same with me, if Christie was in jail and Violet was sent to live with someone else. I'd want her to be with me instead."
"You and Christie share a past I should know about?" Severide teases as Casey looks at him in horror. "Hey, just asking."
"On that note I think it's time to get some sleep," Casey groans as he flips off the main kitchen light and follows Severide out into the hallway. "But I do remember Christie telling me the best time to buy kids winter gear is right now…when it's not as in demand and there are pre-season sales."
"Us…with them…in the mall…on a Saturday?" Severide asks with a weary gasp. "Are you serious?"
"Outlets?"
"You need sleep," Severide tells him firmly as Casey nods and smiles; each offering the other a goodnight before Casey wanders upstairs to his bedroom and Severide to his on the main floor. However, tonight it was Severide's turn to be up with his tormented thoughts, seeing himself in Hadley's position and finding out some very life altering news from his father.
About half hour later, Casey finds himself away. He rolls onto his side; his door open just in case the boys would need him in the middle of the night as per usual. But this time his ears pick up some soft shuffling downstairs and he knows the events of the day were taking its toll on Severide. As Kelly had proven to him so many times in the past, just being there for him when needed, lending a listening hear or a caring hand; now was his turn to return the favor. Little brothers can do that right? He inwardly smirks as he gently wipes his eyes and slowly pads down the stairs.
"Hey…" Severide looks up at Casey as he takes a swig of cold water. "Did I wake you?"
"Figured after all that we learned today and the run in with Hadley, neither of us would be sleeping very well."
"I remember the day my dad left. Gave some lame ass excuse and just…left. I'd get calls on a few occasions but not much more," he pauses as he slumps down in the nearest kitchen chair and takes another hearty gulp of the cold water. "I remember making up things to myself about him but then I'd go to his firehouse and…and damn the things they would say about him. Those guys…strangers to me…they knew my father better than I thought I ever would. I would always go away angry and bitter; asking myself why he couldn't come home. Why he was everyone else's friend…like the neighborhood kids better than me. And then…"
"Then what?" Casey gently prods after a few seconds of silence.
"Then I'd go home alone…just me and mom until I was old enough to move out and wonder what he was doing. I always figured he moved on and had other…affairs, whatever…" he huffs as he shakes his head, Casey sliding into the chair opposite. "But even now when I talk to him, it's always like pulling teeth out of a crocodile to get something personal from him. I don't know how many women he's been with…been to two weddings and of course there was mom's so…three I mean…" Severide's voice trails off as he takes another gulp and then slumps back into his chair and looks at Casey in remorse. "A few days ago…I wanted to find Hadley and just ring his neck."
"And now?"
"Now I just want to find him and say man…you've been handed a bad hand, it sucks and then…ring his neck," Severide huffs as Casey offers him a small smile.
"Despite what he's suffered in the past, though, he has to pay for what he's done right now."
"Yup…" Severide replies as he finishes his glass of water and then stares at the glass with an absent stare. "As I was growing up I kept telling myself not to end up like my father and yet…"
"Kelly don't…" Casey warns firmly. "Don't do this."
"I'm him Matt. Putting work before anything. I can't commit to one woman and…"
"You were prepared to make it work with Renee and you would have had she been honest with you."
"Maybe."
"Look we just need to catch Hadley in the act and end this for good," Casey states as Severide gives him a firm nod before his face softens.
"Tomorrow."
"Tomorrow," Severide agrees as they both stand up, Casey waiting as Severide places his glass in the sink. "Tree House?"
"Or we could just…sleep in?" Casey suggests with a small smirk as the kitchen finally goes dark.
XXXXXXXX
"Go long…go long!"
Severide's lips offer a small grunt as he rolls over and unfurls his head from under the pillow. "Go long?" He mutters as he looks at the time and then offers another groan. He hears what he thinks is Casey and the boys…playing football? "In the house?" Severide mutters as he slowly uprights himself, rubs his face and then stumbles toward the door, pulling it open and then heading into the hallway. He nears the entrance just in time to watch Casey tumble over the leather sofa to get…
A damn football? He's playing football in the house?
"Touchdown!" Casey gets back up with the small football in his right hand; both arms raised in the air and both boys shouting in joy. But, he can only watch as a few seconds later as Casey's knees wobble on the couch, it bumps the nearby table and the tall glass he had been drinking out of the night before tumbles to the wooden floor.
"Broken glass," Ben pipes up as he points to Griffin. "Flag on play."
"Hey!" Casey stands back up, "no way that was a touchdown," he states as his eyes lock with Severide's and he grins.
"Course it was," Griffin utters the same time as Severide, both boys looking up in haste as he finally makes himself known.
"Now the ref shows up," Casey teases as Severide shakes his head.
"So…thought you all were gonna sleep in?" Severide frowns.
"We were…cleaning," Casey suggests in haste.
"Yeah, cleaning and stuff," Griffin adds as Severide folds his arm over his chest.
"With a football?" He snickers as Casey tosses the football at Ben, striking his GI Joe and forcing the toy doll to fall from his grasp and the head to pop off. "Oh Ben, I'm sorry."
"Get the glass I got this," Severide tells Casey firmly, as Casey offers a small frown and a defeated look at Ben.
"Ben, after we build the treehouse we'll….ah damn it!"
"Uncle Matt?" Griffin asks in haste as Severide looks over as Casey's head pops up with a tormented glance.
"What?"
"Uncle Matt's hand is bleeding!"
"What?"
"It's not…"
"OWW!" Griffin shouts as Severide reaches Casey just as he plucks the piece of glass from his fleshy palm.
"It's nothing," Casey offers in haste as he looks up at Severide with a small head shake.
"Did you invest in first aid supplies or something?" Severide lightly teases as Casey growls under his breath, both boys watching with wide eyes as they head for the bathroom. "Sit."
"See boys this is why you don't play football in the house," Casey states seriously.
"It was your idea!" Ben points at Casey as he looks up at Severide who merely purses his lips.
"Think Uncle Matt should be grounded?"
"YES!" Both boys laugh at once as Casey tosses a roll of toilet paper at them.
"Okay go and get ready for breakfast. We'll be right out," Casey instructs the boys, who pull back and disappear back into the living room.
"You know if I didn't know better I'd say you did this on purpose."
"Owww," Casey grumbles as he tries to pull his hand back, Severide snatching his wrist and putting it back in place. "And building the Treehouse was my idea, remember?" Casey asks dryly as Severide gives him a small smile.
"Why don't we take them to the park instead? We've already done the pier and this way…we know that Hadley will be out there watching but with a lot of people around he's less likely to…try something."
"And if he films us having a good time with them, he can't exactly go to Heather and tell her the boys are better off with him," Casey adds as Severide fixes the small butterfly bandage over his padded hand.
"Padded neck…hand…you know if you wanted me to practice my mummification skills on you, you just had to ask," Severide lightly chuckles as Casey grumbles in an undertone but offers a small but heartfelt thanks.
"No mummy's. Besides…mummy's are…creepy," Casey stammers as they leave the bathroom, Severide chuckling as he pats Casey on the back. "Well boys…looks like building a treehouse is on hold," he pauses as he holds up his bandaged hand. "Anyone want to go to the park instead?"
"ME!" They both shout at once, Severide joining in the mirth as he picks up both boys and swings them in the air, Casey laughing; happiness taking hold of them and embracing it for a few moments.
"Okay…I think we got that settled," Casey tells them with a wide smile as Griffin looks at his hand. "It's okay. See you're not the only one who forgets about safety at times."
"What about Joe?"
"I reattached the poor guy's head," Severide smirks.
"Uncle Kelly to the rescue!" Ben announces with a warm smile as he playfully messes Severide's hair.
"Well you know part of rescue squad's job is to repair Joe's when necessary," Casey tells them seriously.
"Awesome!" Ben smiles. "Can he have a blue squad jacket too?"
"We'll see if we can find one."
"Awesome!" Ben exclaims once more, forcing all of them to laugh.
"Okay breakfast time!"
The four of them head into the kitchen to have breakfast; the two young boys unaware of what secret the two older men were keeping from them. After their breakfast, the two boys bound upstairs to get ready for their outing, as Casey and Severide finish up in the kitchen.
"I can tell him," Severide pauses mid-thought; referring his father. "I'll just tell dad, Hadley had mentioned the name one time in passing and I figured I'd check it out."
"Kelly…"
"Hadley and I worked together for a few years; a few things were bound to come up during that time," Severide explains with a brief huff as he leans against the counter. "Besides it wouldn't hurt to just give him a heads-up. This isn't exactly your typical revenge motive."
"Call him after we get back from the park, otherwise you know it'll sour the mood because we both know your father is going to read us the riot act."
"Yeah…you're right," Severide somewhat reluctantly agrees as they finish up and then head to get ready to take the boys out; the boys already dressed and waiting by the door. About ten minutes later the four of them head outside, all talking about the day ahead and oblivious to the terrible danger waiting to strike.
Hadley watches the four of them head for Severide's car, his eyes narrowing as he takes in the sight of them laughing and having a great time together. Jealous resentment starts to stir deep within and his mind starts to race. Just as he watches the four of them get into Severide's car and pull away he reaches for his phone and makes a call.
"Yeah it's me…what we talked about…let's do this," Hadley's voice growls as he quickly hangs up and starts his car and pulls away from the curb. "You two troublemakers made your last house call. This ends today."
A/N: uh oh…so now all the sordid truth his out in the open. Will Hadley and his father ever reconcile? Or is the handwriting on the wall for him? But before that he's caused our boys a bit more trouble. Yes he's jealous but will that jealousy have the final say? What danger are our boys heading to? I hope you also liked the lighter broments in this as well as the serious heart to hearts more to come so please do review before you go and thanks!
