"Butterfly Effect"
Chapter Eight:
Akashi blinked when his luggage was thrown in front of him. "Your luggage." Said one of Hatori's guard.
"I can see that. Why is it here?"
"Leave."
"What?" He mumbled in confusion.
"Your work's done here. Go back to Japan with your friends in the Kuroko's villa. Don't ever come back." Added the guard and opened the gate.
"I'm not really sure what you're talking about. My work's not—"
"Kuroko Tetsuya has paid the price."
He blinked. "What?"
"He's staying here instead of you. Great deal, huh?"
His eyes widened. "You've got to be kidding me."
"Sorry, but no. I don't have a sense of humor, so I'm definitely not kidding. Hatori-sama wants you to go back to Japan with your friends at this very instant. That's his order." Hatori's guard, whose name he still didn't know, retorted and pointed the gate.
He stood up, grabbed his luggage and whispered, "Where are they?"
"Your friends are in the—"
"Not them. Hatori and Tetsuya!" He snapped and slammed one his hands on the door. "Where are they?!"
A pause. "I have no obligation to answer that question of yours."
"Of course, you don't. Then I guess, it's my obligation to find them both—"
The guard blocked him from the door heading towards the main residence of Hatori. "You cannot."
"Why?"
"I'm sorry, but that's an order. Leave now or I'll be forced to kick you out myself."
Gritting his teeth, he turned around and walked towards the opened gate. "Damn it!" He cursed and waved for a cab. Before entering, he glared at the guard. "Tell your master that he'll pay for this."
"I shall."
He went inside the cab he called and slammed the door shut. After telling the driver the address of Kuroko's residence, he quickly slumped into his seat and glared at the ceiling.
Why Tetsuya? Why?

"We're finally going back to Japan, huh." Hyuuga sighed and stretched his arms in the air. "I actually kinda miss Japan. It's still different to be at your own hometown."
"I know, right? It feels kinda lonely here." Kiyoshi agreed.
The bespectacled captain frowned before turning towards their basketball club's founder. "Oh? You're going back with us. Don't sit beside me in the plane or I'll punch you."
"Eh, why~? Kiyoshi complained. "I wanna sit beside you~"
"Shut up, don't come near me!" Hyuuga growled as the other tried hugging him. "Eeeek! Get away from me!"
Koga blinked when a hand poked his arm. He turned and found Mitobe offering him some cookies. "Waaah! Arigatou, Mitobe!"
Mitobe smiled.
"Uwaaah, Aominecchi, that's mine!" Kise grunted as Aomine stole his fries.
Aominecchi ate another piece. "Nope, this' mine now."
Kise pouted. "You meanie!"
Himuro tiptoed as he cleaned the cream left on a certain violet-head's face. "There's still some cream."
Murasakibara blinked and patted Himuro's head. "Arigatou, Muro-chin." He mumbled and grinned like a kid.
The dark-head blinked, blushed then chuckled. "My Atsushi's so kind. Thanking me." He complimented and touched the other's cheek.
"Takao, give me my glasses back." Midorima grunted.
"No way." Takao stubbornly replied and put them on. "Wow! Shin-chan, your eyesight is that terrible huh."
"That's why I wear glasses." Midorima complained and grabbed them back. "Seriously…"
Takao grinned. "No worries, Shin-chan, for when your eyeglasses have gone missing. I will be here and become your eyes instead."
A pause. "Stop saying embarrassing stuff."
"Shin-chan, you're blushing!"
Izuki blinked and looked around in confusion. "Where are Kuroko and Ogiwara?"
"Now that mentioned it, where are our three loyal guards?" Tsuchida added.
Kagami was the one who broke the silence.
"They've all left." He murmured.
"What?" The others gasped. "Left? Where?"
"Toilet?" Aomine tried.
But his joke wasn't appreciated since Kagami just continued staring at the ground. Eyes emotionless. Expression dead. He looked like he just lost someone so precious to him that the others' hearts seemed to crack a little.
"Kuroko texted me earlier. He and Ogiwara accepted Hatori's condition. The guards have finished their jobs as well and wanted to say goodbye to their roommates, but said they were in no position to do such. Kuroko and Ogiwara will be staying here."
"No way!"
A cab stopped infront of them.
"It is the truth." Akashi interrupted as he took out his luggage from inside the taxi. "Tetsuya and Ogiwara Shigehiro will be staying here as we're being dumped back to Japan."
Kagami lifted his head. "Don't you have a say in this?!"
Akashi frowned. "Do you think I don't? I wanted to attack Hatori's residence but then again, what will happen towards those two if I did so? We have no idea. We have no idea!"
Silence just enveloped them as they realized something very, very important: There was no such thing as happiness.
~LFMH021~
They were just waiting for them to be allowed to board the plane. They were all either sitting or standing on the check-in department—waiting for the announcer to say the plane's ready for the passengers to get in to.
They were expecting a happy trip going back home, but it all shattered as they realized that some of them will need to stay. Stay and leave their sides.
"Why did Tetsuya do this?" Akashi murmured.
"For you." Kagami replied. "He did it for you."
"For me? For what?"
"He wanted to save you from being a slave of that Hatori guy, so he offered his services instead. That guy gave him conditions for freeing you, and Ogiwara forced to stay with Kuroko with this."
"He stayed here to free me? Is he an idiot?" The smaller red-head mumbled.
"He loves you that much." Midorima pointed out.
"I know." He snapped. "I know."
~LFMH021~
"Don't you hate me, Sei-kun? I've brought a lot of troubles to all of you. I actually thought of asking you to quit being over-protective about me, but I was afraid. I was afraid that I might not see you again, that I might not be able to approach you again. That I might become just somebody that you used to know."
"It's been three years." He murmured as he stared at the snow flakes falling from the sky. "It's been three years and he hasn't come back."
"You're not going to leave, are you?"
"It's been three years and I haven't heard a word from him." He mumbled and caught one snow flake on his palm.
"Do you really want to love me, Akashi-kun? A broken person. Someone who lives in a world full of lies. Are you sure you want to love a weak person and trash like me, Akashi-kun?"
He walked few more steps before pushing the door of a very familiar Fast Food Chain.
He looked around and found familiar figures from a long table from the right corner of the room. He smirked and walked confidently towards them.
"Akashicchi!" Kise greeted and grinned.
He took the empty seat beside Kagami and removed his scarf. "It's been awhile, huh."
"Excuse me but we just met the day before in a sports magazine interview, right?" Kagami grumbled from beside him.
"I love you too, and I know you already know that, but you're beyond my reach. I will never reach you."
"I'm not talking about that. I mean: us, all of us, gathering together like this again." He sighed.
"Since I met you guys. I feel like I'm the second baby of the Generation of Miracles. You're way too overprotective to the point you won't even let my own teammates talk to me."
"I'm gonna order some fries and burger, I'll be back in a minute." Takao bade and ran towards the counter.
"Don't run, Kazunari." Midorima scolded.
"You call him Kazunari now?" He queried.
The green-head sighed. "It was his gift from his previous birthday. He was so happy when I called him in his first name anyway."
"That's one of the reason why I chose this place. It has a good view of the sky."
"You've grown taller again, Atsushi." He grumbled as he raised his head to look to the one across him.
Murasakibara blinked. "I did?"
Himuro chuckled. "We all did."
"Well, maybe except Akashi." Aomine mumbled.
He turned towards the bluenette and glared at him. "What was that, Daiki?"
"Gaaaah! Nothing!"
"We might not see each other for few days right? So…in advance, I want to say: 'Merry Christmas, Sei-kun.' Please enjoy your holiday."
Kise laughed. "You're so stubborn, Daikicchi, you shouldn't mess with Akashicchi or else I might lose you early."
"I…I love you, Sei-kun. I'll always stay beside you…G-Goodbye…"
Takao emerged again and happily sat beside his partner. "You wanna, Shin-chan?"
Midorima stared at the burger before taking a bite. "This' new, isn't it?"
The dark-head nodded. 'Yep~"
"I'm sorry…I didn't intend to make you worry…I was actually hoping to die, to stop all the pain I was facing, but then I remembered your face…I remembered the times that you encouraged me to move to forward…and everytime you told me those three words, so here I am."
"It's been three years." He finally murmured as he realized that fact again. "It's been three years." He repeated with a sigh.
"He still hasn't you contacted you yet too?" Kagami mumbled.
Akashi nodded and stared at the fries before him. "I didn't hear a word about or from him since we went back here in Japan. Even his parents and brother won't give me clues on what's happening to them."
"I hate you too, Sei-kun; don't worry, the feeling is mutual."
"He promised me forever." He mumbled and rested his head on the headrest of his seat. "But I guess that forever had ended three years ago."
"You're here…"
"He really loves you, Akashi. I saw it through the way he looked at you back then. Remember that he did this too all because of you." Midorima pointed out.
"That's why I can't bring myself to hate him. All because he did this for me. He stayed there for me. He remained quiet for me. It was all because he loves me and that I love him." He murmured and covered his eyes with his arm.
"I don't think so. But it's fine, it'll heal as time passes."
He gritted his teeth. "Yes, I'm successful. Yes, I'm having a great life. But, I want to see him. I badly want to see him again."
"Why are you so mad?! Do you really need to yell?! Do you really need to blame everything at me?! It wasn't entirely my fault! And you want us to stop arguing when you won't even let me explain? I trusted you, Sei-kun and I still and will always do. It's just…you don't."
"Come back, Tetsuya. Please." He murmured.
Silence enveloped their group as he continued on chanting those words.
"It's because I don't want you to hurt!"
"Hey." A new voice greeted from behind him.
He removed the arm covering his eyes and turned. His eyes widened a fraction upon seeing the unexpected visitor. "Ogiwara Shigehiro?"
The dark-head emotionlessly shrugged. "Yeah, it's me. Been awhile, huh."
"Where have you been, you bastard?!" Kagami growled.
Ogiwara scratched his head. "In Europe."
"Why didn't you get in touch with us since we left that country?!" Aomine grumbled.
"Tetsu asked me not to." The other replied.
Silence.
"So?" Midorima started.
"So…what?" Ogiwara replied.
"Damn it! You asshole, answer us properly!" Kagami grunted.
"Damn this shit! You haven't asked me anything yet! How am I supposed to answer?!"
He took a deep breath. "Where's Tetsuya?"
Another pause.
Did I just see sadness in his eyes?
"He's dead." Ogiwara mumbled before leaning against the wall beside them. "He's dead for a year now."
Silence…
The dark-head exhaled and tried to refrain himself from shedding any tear. "When you all left, he was living in despair, in grief, in depression. It was my first time seeing him so lifeless, so empty, so…so sad. Hatori won't even let him pick up his mobile phone. He was like a robot. He was like a puppet. We were like puppets. And then, one day, he started to skip meals. He would just sit inside the study room and read. Read about basketball. Read about friendship. Even when his stomach growls, he would just drink milk or water."
Ogiwara wiped his traitor tears as he continued, "Do you know how happy he looked like when Hatori gave him back his phone? All he did that whole week was look at his gallery for all of your pictures. It killed me how his world started to crumble as more seasons passed."
The dark-head bit his bottom lip and shut his eyes. "He missed you guys. So much. But he wouldn't dare to escape because Hatori might threaten you all again."
The Fast Food Chain suddenly turned quiet and tense as a group of guys started to cry in the right corner of the room. They were all sobbing, crying, wailing.
Akashi stared at nothing. "Tetsuya's dead…" He repeated.
"He died in depression. He died in grief." Ogiwara murmured.
Tetsuya's dead.
My Tetsuya's dead.
Please, God, tell me you're kidding me.
Tell me this is all a dream.
Tell me you're just joking with me!
He gulped as his companions started to sob beside and across him. "Does Tetsuya's family know about this?"
Ogiwara wiped his tears and sniffed. "They do." He replied. "I should have told this to you guys a week after he was carried back here and was buried on where his grandparents were lying, but Hatori prevented me and said that my contract doesn't include that."
"Next time you're leaving, please do tell me because I hate surprises."
"My contract ended days ago. I was visiting your households but they said you all gone somewhere. Figured it would be here." Ogiwara explained and sniffed. "Damn, I'm crying again. This' all your fault, Tetsu."
"I missed you, Sei-kun…"
"Tetsuya…" He murmured and covered his face as tears started to trickle down his cheeks. "Tetsuya…"
"Milk shakes will never be alive. If one milk shake will ever turn alive, I will surely visit the place where it lives and marry it."
"Tetsuya…!" He sobbed and clenched his teeth.
His heart ached. His mind wouldn't work. His tears wouldn't stop from pouring as memories of that teal-head flowed into his mind.
Images after images.
Words after words.
Tears after tears.
Smiles after smiles.
'I love yous' after 'I love yous'.
"No, I also have smoothies. There's vanilla smoothie, chocolate smoothie, strawberry smoothie and lemon smoothie. They're all so kind to me so I fell in love with all of them."
He would never see that face again. Ever emotionless.
He would never see that figure again. Ever short.
He would never see those eyes again. Ever clear and honest.
He would never see those mannerisms again. Ever surprising and unpredictable.
He would never see those smiles again. Ever happy and rare.
He would never Kuroko Tetsuya again. He would never see the only person who gave him to reason to live again.
"I…I love you, Sei-kun. I'll always stay beside you…G-Goodbye…"
Ogiwara approached him as he continued to cry. "I…I need to say goodbye for now. Tetsu want me to give this to you once I saw you again. I don't know if this' the right time, but I'll leave it here." He mumbled and placed a photo in front of him.
Crying, he looked at the photo.
It was Kuroko. He was surrounded by roses. He looked happy. He looked peaceful. He was still the innocent Kuroko everyone knew. His eyes didn't change. His smile was as beautiful as before.
It was like the Kuroko in the photo was saying: 'Please, smile.'
He flipped the photo over and cried even more as he read the words written on it.
Dear everyone important to me,
Please do not cry even if you read this after I die. Yes, I know I'll die. It's my own decision. I'll be right beside you, like always. I'll always love you from where I will and I am. Please smile and don't cry.
Dear Sei-kun,
I love you, from the bottom of my heart. From the start until the end, it is you. I know, it must have surprised you that I'm already buried somewhere out there, but like you said, I'm unpredictable. I love you, always and forever. Remember that. Please smile and live. I'll always be here, beside you, behind you, infront of you. Forever and always.
-Kuroko Tetsuya
As he read this aloud, no one in their group did care again on what others would think. They just cried. They just sobbed. They just wailed. That's when you realize happiness truly was temporary.
TETSUYA!
A/N: I know, I'm cruel.
I was crying while writing this because I was imagining the whole scene.
I mean, seriously?! TT_TT
