Chapter 6

"Hey L. Scott," Sawyer said the next morning, approaching her cousin at her locker. She looped her arm around Lydia's shoulders. "How's the nervous girlfriend on the day of the big game?"

"Fine, Jude will play great." Lydia told her blankly.

"Well you don't seem so sure of that," Sawyer laughed slightly. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, it's just me and Jude got in an argument last night at the Rivercourt, it's got me thinking." Lydia waved the subject off. "It's fine though, is everything ready for the party?"

"Yes ma'am, Momma's given me the okay, I'm sure her, Aunt Brooke and your mom will pop up though. Your brother and Madison will be there, I'm assuming? And Jonah is set to go; we spent all last night in the studio." Sawyer ran through her mental list of party details. "Oh and Logan is manning the bar so I'm sure he will be able to sneak us some drinks."

"Sounds like a perfect night," Lydia smiled. "See you after school?"

"I'll be bright and peppy!" Sawyer exclaimed, putting her hands together and starting to pretend to cheer. Lydia shook her head with laughter as Sawyer walked away. Lydia slammed her locker shut and smiled as Davis leaned up against the locker in front of her.

"Well don't you look all full of school spirit," Davis teased. "And even the Ravens tattoo by your eye, what are you? My mother?"

"Your mother happens to be one of my favorite people of all time so, yes I am," Lydia giggled. Her eye glanced down to a stack of papers in Davis's hands. "Is that what I think it is?"

"First draft of the script, Dad and I were up late last night working on it," Davis grinned proudly. "He said pretty soon it'll be time to kick the script out of the nest and see if it can fly."

"I like that," Lydia smiled.

"Dad's favorite saying," Davis explained. "I want you to have the first eyes on it. My dad said letting someone read your work is the ultimate form of trust. That's why Mom's read all of his scripts before he sent them out. He suggested I have someone else read them and I couldn't think of anyone else but you."

"Well I feel honored," Lydia said, slightly blushing as Davis handed her the script. "You'll be at the game tonight, right?"

"Under Mom's demands, yes I will." Davis said. "But I don't know about that party. Mom might need some help at the store."

"Bad excuse, you know your mother will be doing shots at the bar with my mother at the party." Lydia told him. "They're such high schoolers. Come on Davis, Jonah Munson's playing and you love his stuff. I can get you backstage. Wouldn't you love some bro time with Tree Hill's next Chris Keller?"

"Tempting offer but you still haven't won me over," Davis smirked.

"Come to the party or my eyes will never glance over this script." Lydia proposed, holding the script in front of his face.

"Fine, I'll be there," Davis gave in. "As long as you control that Neanderthal you call your boyfriend."

"Oh your twin brother!" Lydia smiled. "Yeah I'll take care of Jude."

Meanwhile…

"What a nice surprise!" Haley exclaimed as Jamie entered the café. "What's going on, handsome?"

"Meeting Dad and Uncle Clay here for a meeting soon," Jamie said, taking a seat at the counter. "I'm so bored at home Mom. I need to get out of this town."

"Oh well thanks son, I love you too." Haley said sarcastically, winking at her son. "Your time will come and you will get signed to a great team and hopefully live close to Tree Hill because momma will miss her son like crazy if you move across country."

"I know Mom, I know." Jamie rolled his eyes at his mom's concerns.

"And Madison will miss you too, you got lucky she got that academic scholarship and went to Duke with you." Haley continued.

"Yeah well I think I'm positive she's gonna stick around with me," Jamie smiled.

"Are you gonna propose to her?" Haley exclaimed. "Oh my gosh, James Lucas Scott, are you going to get married?"

"Mom, what the hell! Keep it down, would ya!" Jamie said, trying to calm her down. The front door opened and Brooke walked in.

"Jamie's going to propose to Madison!" Haley whisper yelled as Brooke approached the counter.

"Oh my god, shut up! My godson is getting married. I'm so proud!" Brooke squealed, throwing her arms around Jamie and kissing his cheek. "How are you going to do it? Do it at the Ravens game, that is such a Naley thing to do!"

"Hold up you two, I am not proposing." Jamie told them. "At least not yet anyway. I was just going to ask her to come with me, wherever I go."

"Awh come on Hales, why'd you get my hopes up?" Brooke whined. "That's still great news though Jimmy Jam."

"Thanks Aunt Brooke, your enthusiasm is astounding." Jamie said sarcastically. "You're closing early for the game, right Mom?"

"Of course, wouldn't miss Jude's first Ravens game for the world. Someone's got to bring the tissues for when your Aunt Brooke loses it." Haley said, smiling over at Brooke. "Oh and your first game as Ravens coach as well."

"I'm glad I'm your number one thought Mom," Jamie laughed. The door opened again and Nathan and Clay walked in with Logan in tow as well. "Oh thank god you guys are here, these two are driving me crazy."

"Yeah your mom does that to me too," Nathan smirked, patting his son's back. He leaned over the counter and pecked his wife a kiss hello.

"Hey Evans, I got a bone to pick with your kid here," Brooke said, poking Logan in the chest.

"Oh yeah? What'd you do to piss off Brooke Davis, son?" Clay laughed, nudging his son.

"He got me drunk off my ass with all those free shots he gave me last night." Brooke said. "It felt like my bachelorette party all over again."

"Hey I remember that, you guys stole a dog." Jamie pointed out, making everyone else but Brooke laugh.

"I can't wait to you get drafted young man, your smart mouth will not be missed in Tree Hill." Brooke announced as she headed back across the street to Baker Man.

"Liar!" He called after his aunt.
