Again, enjoy!
...Where It All Goes to Hell
~Jason~
"Get AWAY from her!"
I tackled Nick, ripping the gun out of his grip, and felt many hands pulling me back. "I don't need another goddamn Infected!" Nick yelled, Katelyn staring in shock. As soon as I let go of Nick, I was pulled back before Nick managed to get a fist on me.
Everything else happened in a blur.
When I finally managed to get a hold on myself, I saw Nick pinned below me, badly bruised, and turned to see the butt of Francis's shotgun slam into my face.
"Everybody STOP FOR A SECOND!" Ellis yelled furiously, and we all froze before anything worse happened. Ellis never yelled like this. "Let's try n' figure out WHAT IS GOIN' ON before we kill each other!"
I got off Nick as I rubbed my forehead, glaring at Francis. "If we can get to the bridge as fast as we can, maybe we can get to somewhere safe enough to get Kate looked at."
"Ellis," Kate whispered, "Please... don't-"
"'Ey, we ain't leavin' nobody behind," he shot back, "I want Kate's leg wrapped up now, and Francis, you carry her since yer probably the strongest here. Nick, get yourself cleaned up, you too Jason. E'erybody else, get ready, we're gonna go now before they bomb this here building." Everyone stared at him in shock. Ellis? Leader?
"I said LE'S GO!" he yelled, and everybody hesitated before getting re-geared up. I went over to Katelyn's side to look at her leg.
Most of the damage was probably just from bits of torn metal, because her leg wasn't as bad as it looked at first. I helped keep Katelyn steady while Zoey put this anti-bacteria thing on her leg, which seemed to hurt more than help but Zoey assured me it helped much more.
As she wrapped it, Kate would mutter small phrases I wouldn't be able to understand, but "Leave me here" was crystal clear. "N-... o," I growled to her, and she wouldn't look at me. "Just... leave me here..." she said again, more clearly. Zoey looked at her in shock, just about to finish tying the bandages. "No way," Zoey replied, "we're going to get you on that chopper or die trying."
"Can't let... you turn," I whined, and Katelyn started sobbing. The idiotic infected voice in my head screamed 'Witch,' but I knew she clearly wasn't. She survived my bite, she'll survive wherever she was bitten this time.
~Katelyn~
Everything was dark and blurry after that.
After Ellis's sudden take in command (And a good 5 minutes of our surprise of this sudden change in him), we set out, but despite my best efforts, I continuously blacked out on Francis's back as we went.
Next time I awoke, we were in some kind of trailer, the noisy arguing of other Survivors pounding in my head.
"-... You know what, Nick? I've just about had it," I heard Coach yell as I got my bearings. "Here's the door." A steel door flung open, the loud clang echoing in my head. "You can start a new life in this room, right now. Or, when we're ready, we can go and at least TRY. At least TRY and give this a chance. I've just about had it with your constant bullshitting, so make your goddamn choice."
"Alright..." Nick grumbled, "I'll... stay."
'NO, HE MUST BE ALONE. EASIER TO KILL,' something screamed, and I jolted up.
Nothing.
That was... IN my head...
"At least you're looking better," I heard behind me, and turned to see Louis cleaning a rifle. When did he get that? "Jason is exhausted from taking care of that Tank that almost got in here," he pointed to the massive indent in the wall, "and... well you heard what's going on in the other trailer."
"Other...?" It took me a while to realize that Coach and Nick had been yelling from the trailer next to us. Each one probably had a safe door. So odds are the other Survivors were in the other trailer, too. "So, you're the only one in here aside me?"
"Well, Jay and Liz are in the other room, but yeah, everybody else chose the other one-"
"In case I turn?" I interrupted, getting a shaky "No" from Louis. "No, that's not going-"
"Stop trying to make me feel better," I said, "I'm obviously infected." I wanted to be wrong so bad, but there was no way people just cough that black... sludge up from a normal illness. I've seen the Infected throw that shit up. And I was FREEZING...
"I need a blanket, 'r something," I muttered, and Louis happened to find one as I wrapped it around myself. My bandages on my leg probably could of used a changing, but I didn't see much of a point. Wasn't this the 4th stage of inevitable death grief or something, Depression? Too many thoughts shot in and out of my head, half of them probably from the virus.
"Louis..." I mumbled, and he looked at me with worry. "I'm scared..." That... voice I heard was INSIDE my head, it had to have been.
He looked at me with his soft, over-fucking optimistic eyes, before putting his arm around my shoulder. "It's ok." Bullshit. "You'll make it." He sat next to me and gave me a sympathetic hug. "If you really were Infected, you would have turned by now, wouldn't you? But you're still here, so we'll still fight for you."
I couldn't believe it. I wanted to, so goddamn bad, that I'd make it to safety, maybe see old friends, or just wake up out of this nightmare, but I knew it wouldn't happen.
It just would not happen.
**... Are you immune?**
"Well yeah, we've been killin' zombies."
**Negative! Are. You. Immune?**
"Mista, I am covered in zombie blood and puke and eyeballs and several other parts I don't even WANNA recognize, we are immune as SHIT!"
"Listen, we're talking to you, aren't we?" Nick yelled angrily at the radio, glaring at it as if the soldiers on the other end could see it.
**Alright... Listen, we're on the other side... Need you to get across as fast as you can...** the radio crackled before dying out, and Nick started the power to lower the bridge. "Man, we're so close! The military's gonna save us!" Ellis jumped with joy. "Or," Nick retorted, "they're gonna line us up and-" Coach's glare made Nick stop, and I wondered just how heated their argument got while I was out.
Ellis stuck his tongue out at the conman as the bridge clanged loudly as it lowered. Francis helped me onto his back unwillingly, as the loudest cry of infected rang out. "This'll be fan-fucking-tastic," Nick groaned, and we all ran for it once our path was clear.
