I'm still alive! Thanks for your reviews. I'm so, so, so, so, so sorry I took so long. I hate how my life is going right now.
Here it is again. I own nothing, but a few characters within and I'm making no profit of any kind. No money at all actually.
Chapter 2
Dylan was the first to meet the enemy. He ducked under a punch and spun around to land a kick right at the base of the beast's spine. It fell forward, as two more rushed him from behind. One grabbed Dylan's arm and swung him around toward the other. When it let go Dylan used the momentum to propel himself forward, he flipped over the Trog and swept its feet from under it. The first enemy Dylan had attacked got to its feet and rushed him. As Dylan turned to defend himself he saw a glint from the creature's forehead. He jumped and brought both fists down on the creature's forehead. The Trog screamed as steam hissed from its nostrils. It opened its mouth and a beam of light launched from within. Dylan was thrown back when the beam hit. He landed hard on his back.
"Dylan, are you alright?" Lily asked running to his side. Kyle and Ryan joined them hold their sides.
"These things are strong!" Ryan said as Jason was thrown toward them.
"Give up foolish children. Your defeat isss ccccertain." Serpentia hissed. Dylan stood and turned to face the creature.
"We'll never give up! This is our home and we're not gonna let you destroy it!" he said.
Rangers, you are not strong enough to defeat her yet. You must use your powers to summon the elemental weapons.
"Right! Here goes nothing! Fury of Fire, Sword of Vulcan!" A katana appeared in his hand with a flaming blade.
"Fury of Air, Fujin's blade!" Lily called as a Tachi appeared in her hand.
"Fury of Water, Aegir's Axe!" Jason said summoning a viking axe to his hands.
"Fury of Earth, Houtu's Axe!" Ryan summoned a double-sided battle axe.
"Fury of Ice," Kyle called, "Khione's blades!" Two katanas with ice blades formed in his hands.
Dylan charged again this time swinging his sword. The blade connected with the three Trogs that had attacked him before. Each one collapsed in on itself and disappeared. Lily met two of the monsters with her own weapon, each strike from her sword precise. Her enemies soon disappeared, defeated.
Ryan and Jason stood back-to-back swinging their axes at the six Trogs that surrounded them. Jason hit one on the forehead where Dylan had seen the glint. The beast exploded and disappeared.
"Dude, hit them in the head!" he yelled over his shoulder. With the new information the two made quick work of their foes.
Kyle was cornered by the final five Trogs. He brandished his katanas and charged. His blade flashed in the sun as swung the swords until he found himself behind the Trogs. The beasts fell to their knees before collapsing like others.
"You desssstroyed my ssssoldierssss!" Serpentia cried. "Thisssss isssn't over!" she said before disappearing.
"And don't come back!" Dylan yelled.
The Rangers arrived back at the sanctuary to find Gaia and Doctor Jacobs waiting for them.
"Excellent work Rangers, but I fear she will not stay away. You must be on your guard at all times." Gaia said smiling proudly.
"Whoa. I'm out. I said just this once, and I meant it. Here you can have this stuff back." Jason said holding out the morpher and the pendant.
"No, keep them. You were chosen, and they will not respond to anyone else." Gaia said. Jason hesitated but turned and walked out.
"Sorry guys, but I gotta agree with Jason. I'm no hero. It was pretty cool, but I'm not cut out for this." Kyle said turning to follow Jason
"Can we do this without them?" Lily asked looking toward where they had walked out.
"I am afraid that you cannot, your powers are strongest when you are all together, but perhaps you will be strong enough." Gaia said, "I am certain Serpentia will return, but perhaps she will take her time. You should all return to your school until she does. Doctor Jacobs and I will watch for trouble in the meantime" Dylan and his friends quickly made their way back to school. When they arrived Dylan found a note on the door.
"Classes cancelled until further notice, due to damages. Hunh! I guess we have some time off." He said frowning slightly.
"Wow, I didn't think there was that much damage here. I would have thought it would have been isolated to the areas closer to the site of the attack." Lily said thoughtfully.
"Agreed." Dylan said placing the cord holding the pendant around his neck.
"Let's go get something to eat." Ryan said leading the others to the parking lot.
As they drove away no one noticed the form watching them from the principal's office.
"Well Principal Strickland, it seems as though my quarry is among your student body. This will be easier than I thought." He said turning the principal's chair toward the window. Strickland sat there, staring vacantly out the window. "Of course, I will be happy to take care of your responsibilities while you are incapacitated." He patted Strickland on the shoulder. "You're welcome. Oh and please call me Mr. Garner." The said smiling darkly.
Dylan hurried back to the kitchen. He was wearing his uniform consisting of a white oxford dress shirt tucked into black slacks, with a red tie, and completed by a black apron.
"Hey I need a steak dinner, swap the mustard greens with the peas!" he called to the cook, who raised a hand in acknowledgement. Dylan grabbed a tray with another order and headed out to the dining room. As he pushed the door open a busser collided with him. Her bus tray flew into the air, but Dylan reacted before the tray could hit the floor. He deposited his tray on an empty table and caught the other tray with the dishes.
"You okay, Kayla?" he asked, helping her to her feet, and handing her tray back.
"Yeah, I'm such a klutz." She said, laughing, and brushing her brown hair out of her face. Dylan chuckled, and grabbed his tray.
"Just be more careful from now on. He replied.
Once nine o'clock arrived Dylan sat at a table counting out his tips. Kayla sat across from him silently. She watched him intently as he counted, a small smile forming as he finished.
"And two hundred fifty dollars. That's eighty-three dollars and thirty-three cents for you." He said separating the money and handing her a share.
"Finally, I can get my stupid car fixed." Kayla said jumping up, and knocking the chair over. Dylan laughed.
"What's wrong with it?" he asked, setting the chair he had been sitting in upside down on the table.
"The transmission blew up." she said, doing the same with her own chair.
"How much is that repair going to cost you?" Dylan asked as they walked through the doors.
Kayla frowned. "About three hundred… Give or take." She said with a huff. "I wish I didn't need to have that fixed, but you know how it is."
"That include labor?" Dylan asked, turning to lock the doors.
"I hope so. If it doesn't then I'm stuck." She replied. Dylan grabbed his helmet and straddled his motorcycle.
"If you want, I can replace the transmission for you." Dylan said.
Kayla smiled brightly. "I'll consider it. Thanks." She said. Dylan nodded as she opened the passenger side door of a cherry red 2005 Corvette. "See you tomorrow, Dylan."
Dylan revved his bike and started for home. As he walked through the door he saw his mother watching the news. The reporter was in the middle of a story about the attack by Serpentia.
"And witnesses state five superheroes in colorful uniforms fought the creature. One witness claims that he heard the leader refer to themselves as the Power Rangers." He said as the work crews were shutting down their cleanup activities for the day, "Could this be just the beginning of a prolonged siege, as we have seen before in the cities where Power Rangers have appeared before?" Dylan tuned the reporter out, and greeted his mother, before heading to his room.
After changing his clothes Dylan opened his window and stepped out onto the first floor roof. He would sit on the edge of the roof for hour when he was a kid, just enjoying the night air. He laid back and watched the stars for awhile, until a voice broke through the peace.
"Hey, I thought you'd be here." Dylan looked up to see Lily climbing through her own window onto the roof of her house. "Do you remember when you me, and Jake would hang out up here all the time?" she finished, hopping over to his roof and reclining beside him.
"Yeah, we were inseparable. At least until Mary Paulsen decided she liked me better than she did him." Dylan said frowning.
"And you didn't even like her!" Lily laughed. "I can't understand why Jake blames you for that."
"It's a guy thing." Dylan answered. They lay there in silence for awhile. Until Lily again spoke up.
"Hey, Dylan," she began, "What do you think of our chances without Jason and Kyle?" Dylan sat up and looked out towards the site of the first attack.
"We are weakened without them. If only by the fact that they are both excellent fighters. But on a deeper, more mystical level… Well there are four primary elements that exist in the world. Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. Ice is an extension of Water so it's logical that Kyle and Jason would follow the same path." He paused thoughtfully, "So honestly I have some worries about our chances without them, but I can't give up without trying." He finished turning back to Lily.
"Do you remember the history lesson on the Battle of Salamis?" She asked.
"I think so, wasn't that the naval battle between Greece and Persia?" Dylan replied thoughtfully.
"Yes, and the Greek navy was outnumbered almost ten to three. But they defeated the Persians with superior tactics. That could be what we need to do." Lily said. Dylan was silent for a moment.
"I can see only one problem with your reasoning. The Greeks were able to prepare for the battle and were met on their own terms. I don't think the Dark King will choose the most convenient times to attack." Dylan replied. Lily scowled.
"True, but this strategy is simple enough that we can use anytime." She said. Dylan nodded, and stood up, stretching.
"Well, I'd better hit the sack, I've got errands to run tomorrow." He said heading back to the window. Lily hopped over to the roof of her house. She stopped short of her window, and turned.
"See you tomorrow, Dylan." She said ducking through the window. Dylan smiled and returned to his room. He set his alarm and slid into his bed.
Ryan arrived at home and changed into his work clothes, consisting of a pair of faded blue jeans, and a black t-shirt. He walked outside and headed straight for the greenhouse. His grandmother, Carrie was already tending to the roses.
"Hey Grandma, where should I start?" he asked kissing her on the cheek. Carrie smiled and stood up.
"I think the Stargazer bed needs some attention." She said. Ryan nodded and left the greenhouse, and made his way to the stargazer bed.
Ryan's day afterwards was uneventful, until he and his sister, Alexis watched the same news report that Dylan was watching.
"Wow, that's so cool." Alexis said. Ryan laughed.
"You think so, Sis?" Ryan asked. He had accepted his role as a Power Ranger but, still wasn't sure what to think.
"Yeah, it's like in those other cities, Angel Grove, Reefside, and Blue Bay Harbor. Each one had at least one team of Power Rangers, and now Springwell does to." She answered, Ryan smiled and turned back to the screen.
The next day Dylan woke with his alarm again. He stepped into his bathroom, tied his hair back, and to check his clothes, a red sleeveless t-shirt, with blue jeans, and his red and white Nikes. He made his way downstairs and grabbed breakfast. He ate quickly and headed out to the garage. He grabbed his keys and helmet and mounted his bike. However before he could start it he felt a strange sensation in his head.
~Rangers, you are needed at the Sanctuary at once.~ He heard Gaia's voice in his mind, and touched the pendant around his neck.
~On my way.~ he replied, surprised at his instinctive knowledge. He pictured the Sanctuary, and soon felt the heat he had felt during his first teleportation. This time he arrived and landed on his feet.
Lily and Ryan appeared beside him. "What's up?" Ryan asked as Dr. Jacobs looked up from one of his projects.
"Oh, uh, well, you see the… monitors will allow you to observe the reason you were contacted. They turned to the monitors. Dylan's fist clenched as he saw Serpentia attacking the city again.
"We have to stop this." He said, narrowing his eyes.
"Agreed." Lily and Ryan said simultaneously, reaching for their morphers.
"NATURE'S FURY, UNLEASH!"
"FIRE'S FURY, RED RANGER!"
"AIR'S ANGER, YELLOW RANGER!"
"EARTH'S IRE, BLACK RANGER!"
They arrived at the site of the attack and found Serpentia, with an army of Trogs.
"My, my, my, only three little rangers this time. What happened, did your two little friends lose their nerve." She asked.
"Even if they did, we're more than enough to deal with you." Dylan answered, as he and his friends prepared to battle against seemingly impossible odds.
Well another chapter down. I'm thinking of making "episodes" that consist of three chapters, and I'm really going to try to force myself to sit down and write. As always please read and review.
