An: j.r.r. tolkien's world twisted to my liking.
I am SO fucking sorry.

Legolas

Boots tapping quickly against the marble floor to the gate, Eilianneth stood waiting for Legolas. Impatient, she began their journey without him- to the edge of where the forest truly thickened, at least. Marching through the woods for a solid half hour before finally hearing Legolas behind her, she was left alone to her thoughts. What would they encounter in the dark, lonesome forest? She was anything but scared at that moment- unafraid of the looming horror that would soon arise and trouble them for the rest of their lives.

Digging into the ground with his heels, Legolas stopped in the middle of a group of trees. "Let's set up camp for the night, meleth nîn. Wouldn't want to be alone in this cesspool without defense when the arachnids begin to crawl out of their holes."

He stared down at her shivering body, utterly defenseless and in his care. How he wanted that moment to last for an eternity; an unstoppable desire to protect and cherish her was rising from within him. Legolas truly did love her and surprisingly enough, he found himself wanting to declare her as his. His sun and stars, the force that kept him going.

"What're you thinking about?" Eilianneth asked groggily, waking up from her nap. She did not mind that Legolas refrained from waking her once she fell asleep on guard. He was always the sort to put her needs first. She watched carefully as his brows furrowed, staring unblinkingly at the ember flames.

"Nothing, truly. Just wishing the damned things would attack so we can finish this." True to his word, a crack sounded immediately.

"Oh, fuck. Shit. Ow."

"Tauriel?" Eilianneth asked, recognizing her sister's voice. "Thêl neth, what are you doing out here with us?" She was too puzzled to spare the energy to be livid for her sister following them into dangerous territory.

"I thought you could use some help," she shrugged, "and it looks like I was right." Lifting up her bow, an arrow spun right past Legolas' face. Whirling around, all three of them formed a triangle stance.
"There are so many…This can't be possible!"

All they had heard for what seemed to be an eternity was the consistent clang of metal against fangs. Legolas was battling three humongous spiders at once, and was on the verge of collapsing from sheer exhaustion. They had already defeated half of the original amount of spiders and daybreak was rapidly approaching.

"Maybe…we should have… come with more…elves, eh?" Tauriel managed to blather out.

Eilianneth couldn't do much more than nod as she was earnestly trying to protect Legolas while he bested the arachnids. "Behind you!"

As if in slow motion, a large white fang came piercing down, seething with poison at its tip. It gave off a glare with its various dark eyes. In a mere second, nothing more was heard than a sharp yell as dawn finally broke. Scuttles were the last things heard by Eilianneth as she slowly drifted into unconsciousness.

"Thêl neth! Come on, awaken, sister!" Panicking, she yelled desperately into Eilianneth's blood orange hair. "You have to be alive, Ei, you have to…"

Legolas stood frozen at the edge of the clearing, completely blank. It wasn't possible. She couldn't be dead.
