Draco stood in the cafeteria, waiting for his name to be called for his schedule. This can't get any worse, he thought.
"Aalevar, Gavin", the woman on the stage in front of the cafeteria said. The woman's name was Helda Taylor, as she stated while introducing herself as the principal of the school. A boy came up to her and she handed him a paper.
"August, Jeaniveve…..Barristor, Jonas…...Blare, Jaina" Draco tuned out after a few more names. A few minutes, later his name got called.
"Malfoy, Draco." He got up irritably and walked over to the woman. She handed him a paper and gave him a warm smile. He ignored her and went on over to where the people who already got their schedules were going, through a door which led you into a large hallway with many signs over the doors. There were bright white lights across the ceiling. This is so wrong. So wrong. He shouldn't be here. He just shouldn't. Start a normal life they said. Well, this is not a freaking normal life! This is the exact opposite! How could they even think about sending him HERE?
He looked over at his schedule. There were two columns listed on it with seven rows. The first column had numbers one through seven and had the word period at the end of it, and besides it there were words that he couldn't make out. History, he understood, which was listed beside 1st period. 1st period? What is that? He looked down and saw more….2nd period….3rd period. Do they mean which class goes first and then next? Why not just put the numbers? What's with the periods? Then the classes were History, Literature, Physics, Math, Lunch, which wasn't a period for some reason, Chemistry, Biology, and Lab.
"Are you lost?" Someone beside him asked. Confused, he turned around to find a girl with pale skin and brunette, curly hair. He realized that he was just standing there in awe with his stupid schedule.
"Umm…no." He replied.
"Are you sure?" She asked. "You seem confused."
"Uh…no. I'm fine," I lied. I knew nothing about all this.
"Actually, I really don't mind." She smiled with reassuring eyes. "And it seems as though we have the same 1st period." I looked over at hers. She did have the same first class as me. First period.
"Follow me." She said, guiding me to the stairs at the end of the hallway. We went through the second door on the left. "Here's History class." She gestured to the room. I gave a small smile, not even meaning it, and sat down on a desk at the end of the class room, at the right side, near the corner.
"My name's Hermione by the way. What's yours?"
"Draco." I replied.
"Draco." She whispered. "Well, it's nice to meet you."
"You too," I say, clearly not meaning it, but I don't think she could tell.
"I sit over there." She told me, pointing at a desk in the second row. "You could sit next to me if you like."
"Oh, I'm fine here. Thank you for everything, though." Again, I gave a small smile, the most I could do right now.
"Oh, okay." She looked disappointed and headed towards her desk. More students started filing in through the door until all the desks had been filled. A teacher came through the door with a happy expression as she sat down on her chair and put some files on the table.
"Hello, class. I am so delighted I get to see you guys again and I welcome the new students as well. Welcome to our school. I look forward to meeting you…" she picked up a paper and continued, "Ms. Lovegood, and Mr. Malfoy. And where are you seated?" She asked, scanning the room. I raised my hand and saw that another girl already had hers up. I looked over at her. She was sitting three seats in front of me. She had blonde, wavy hair. The teacher smiled at both of us and said, "Welcome to Morville High."
