Chapter Twenty
On the other side of the city a shadow lay over a historical compound.
Its walls were covered in vines searching for cracks; weeds grew tall and strong with no one to pull them from the soil.
Years of abandonment has left it without electricity and running water. The inside which was once splendid with polished hard wood floors and spotless white walls of plaster and paper was ruined by dust, cobwebs and animal intrusions.
To most the condition of this building would be considered costly to restore.
The owner did not care about costs.
He abandoned this historical treasure just so it would succumb to the elements. An abandoned home in horrible condition ensured that few would be tempted to move in. He abandoned his glamorous home and relocated for many reasons that were explained to those that needed to know.
The true reason, the one that no one had been told was also the reason he was returning.
A man dressed in a fine Italian black silk suit stood in the middle of his crumbling home smiling. Pale white hands rubbed together in anticipation, "I hope you've been a good girl while I've been gone Kagome. I'd hate to kill another important person in your life."
The handsome man with long curling black hair, amethyst eyes and a cruel smile that he sent in the direction of Kagome's apartment was clearly lying.
He loved causing Kagome pain and watching her fall to pieces. For each time she fell into depression her spirit cracked. The day her stubborn will shattered into a million pieces would be the day she would truly belong to him and no one else.
