Oh, wow! The reviews talk more about that I actually updated rather than the actual chapter! Oh well! Before I start with the reviews, let's introduce our Smurf of the Chapter…which nobody nominated, so I will draw a name from the Gigantic Smurfy Hat of Smurf Names!
(pulls out a giant Smurf hat with pieces of paper inside)
Now let's see who've we got today. (reaches hand inside and shuffles around a bit before pulling hand out) And-oh! Oops. I grabbed three instead of one. Well, I guess we're having three Smurf Guests rather than just one. And the first one is…Tracker Smurf!
Tracker: Yes!
And the next one is…Hefty Smurf!
Hefty: It's about time!
Finally, we have…Narrator Smurf?
Narrator: Yes?
Oh. Well, good. Before we start, I have some new voice actors to include, but don't worry, they're all characters you already know.
Angel Smurf will be voice by Bob Newhart (Bernard from Rescuers Down Under)
Devil Smurf will be voice by David Coechner (Dag the Coyote from Barnyard: The Original Party Animals)
Yup. The return of Angel and Devil Smurf. Now with their own voice actors. I have to say that Devil's voice was the hardest to find an actor for, but I had fun doing it.
Torque will be voiced by Jeannette McCurdy (Samantha Puckett on iCarly)
(a little Leopard Gecko dropped down onto the author's head. It shook itself off and crawled down onto the shoulder)
?: You called me, Frost?
Ah, and here she is, now. (takes the gecko into hands) This, everyone, is Torque. She is a Creatugo who is actually based off of the newest member of my family: my pet Leopard Gecko, Torque!
Torque: (holds up a scaly foot) Sup?
Torque's ability is actually quite a unique one. She's an expert digger and her tail is as hard as steel and as powerful as a punch from Hefty times two. Her main occupation is being a creative breaker, as she will demonstrate now. Hefty? The cinderblock, if you please.
Hefty: (brings out a cinderblock, setting it down on the ground)
Tracker, the 'creative breaking' music!
Tracker: (pushes buttons on the iPod, which played a catchy tune)
Yup. (dancing slightly) Get ready, everyone!
Torque: (dances a bit in place, but then jumps up and hits the center of the cinderblock) HI-YAH!
(everyone shields their eyes as bits of the cinderblock flew everywhere. When the dust cleared, Torque stood over the rubble that remained of the cinderblock)
Torque: (smacks tail on the ground) Can I get some real competition, please?
In a little bit, Torque. Let's finish the disclaimer first. And finally, the last character…
Passionette Smurfette will be voiced by Idina Menzel (Elsa on Frozen)
Yup. I was a little hesitant with putting her in the main plotline rather than just keep her in my other story, Chilled to the Smurf, but after doing some thinking, I decided to do it.
A Drama Queen- Yes. Thank you. Anyway, I'll try to keep up the updates with this story so you can start the spin-off of this story. Oh! And before I forget, this girl actually made a picture on deviantart of Crafty. Look it up under her username, TheCynicalRomantic. And, even though I'm a little against self-promotion, I re-did a picture of Crafty on my account, only this time in Peyo's style. So, for all of you who haven't seen it, feel free to take a look at both pictures
Tracker: Quick question, though. What's a spin-off?
Later, Tracker…actually, a spin-off, I believe, is sort of like a story that's based off of an existing story. The same universe and the same characters, but with a bit of a twist on the plot and main point of the story. Is that right? That's the best definition I can come up with at the moment.
Benny- Yes. Oddette was the only other person to know Benevolent's true identity, so of course the two would share a connection, but not one as strong as it is between Crafty and Benevolent.
Sapphire777- Thanks. If I drew a picture of Sailor, I could actually see and hear Nicholas Cage's voice come out of it. It actually gave me the idea to write a Smurf's parody of The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Maybe have Sailor be Balthazar and Crafty play Dave. What do you guys think? I wouldn't be doing it right now since I already have enough stories to concern myself with, but later on, you know? Maybe I'll write it sometime in the fall.
Narrator: (chuckles) I don't know, I don't see Crafty as being someone who's…how would I smurf it?...Awkward and…timid.
Miss Punk Star- Thank you. I'm glad I could light up a lot of everyone's days.
Hefty: You say that like they don't look forward to it.
(scowls a bit) Well excuse me for being modest!
Torque: Aw, just shut up and get the rest of these things read. I have a sun bathing appointment in an hour.
Fine! Let's see…
Zinka17- Yeah. Sorry. I do recommend that from now on, you guys should read the chapters again before the new ones. I mean, this story has a lot of things to follow.
SmallSunshine- (chuckles) Thanks. I really appreciate that. And don't worry about it. I know what you mean with Gutsy.
Flamestarter- I know…that poor, poor Smurf…speaking of which, I made a mistake in the last chapter. His Life Giver brother was actually named 'Chivalry', not 'Valiant'.
Oh, and one more announcement I have to make! And this is a big one:
The contest with Crafty and her Creature form is about to come to its end. The creature in question will be revealed in the next chapter! I hope to have the next chapter up by the fourth of July, so I'm telling you all now that you have until then to use up the last of your guesses. So, read over my clues carefully and take it from there.
Okay, I only own the Crafty, the Smurfettes, the Creatugos, the Life Givers, the Drakonus, and many other characters I cannot fathom right now.
Torque: The Smurfs, Johan, and Peewit all belong to that Peyo guy…Oh, and Jo belongs to CartoonCaster21. I like her.
Hefty: Misty belongs to Sapphire777.
Tracker: Noctuma belongs to Benny.
Narrator: And Nanu and Livy belong to flowerpower71. Everyone have a smurfy day, now!
I swear to smurf, I think the only thing I miss about being back at Smurf Village right now is that it's cooler there!
Crafty shook her head of her grogginess as she stretched her body. She blinked her eyes open, startled at first to only see darkness. That was, until, she remembered where it was she spent the night.
Groaning a bit, the Smurfette dug her way out of black feathers before coming out into the air. She fixed her hair a bit before patting the feathery bundle.
"Thanks, King. I really appreciate the shelter for the night."
On the other side of the black mass of feathers, the skinny neck of a peacock straightened out. He yawned a bit before shaking his head.
"No need for thanks, Crafty my dear. I'm always up to assisting one of my brightest of pupils."
King was quite an ancient, yet very untraditional Creatugo. He was wise and powerful when needed, but most of the time…well, many would say that King should've been born a Smurf. He loved to sing and dance most of the time, but he mostly loved teaching others how to sing and dance to their top potential.
"Crafty! Crafty!"
King and Crafty looked up at the sight of a fox bat flapping down to the ground. She was panting harshly and her ears flattened down on her head from being nearly exhausted.
"Hey, Rose. What'cha got for me?" Crafty asked as she slid down King's back.
Rose shook her head, making her lean up on her wings as she said, "Security's pretty tight at the Drakonus palace, but there's a spot that goes unguarded for at least three minutes in the southeast."
"Great!" Crafty clasped her hands together. "Could you smurf me there?"
"Yes," Rose let out a huff, "but please let me rest for a moment…"
"Sure, no problem," Crafty nodded, sitting down against a tree in the forest that Crafty had once called home…well, her original home.
Rose let herself flop down on her stomach, breathing deeply as she let her aching muscles relax. Her nonexistent eyebrows suddenly furrowed, spotting something on Crafty that was just too interesting to not look at.
She dragged herself on the ground until she was about an inch away from Crafty, whom ignored her the whole time. Rose blinked as she examined the ring Crafty still wore…and on a very special finger.
"Crafty?" when she only received a 'hmm?' in response, the bat asked, "You have a mate?"
Her eyes snapped open, letting out a gasp as she snatched her hand away and hid it. Crafty gulped a bit before replying, "Uh…well…it's complicated."
"No, it isn't," Rose countered. "Either you have one, or you don't."
"Okay," Crafty said, taking off the ring and shoving it into her overall pocket. "I don't."
"Then why were you wearing a ring?"
"Ah, ah, ah! No more questions, Rose," King interrupted, standing up and swooshing out his tail feathers, which were black with beautifully violet eyes on them. He then turned a bit sympathetic as he asked, "Crafty, I know you're upset, but are you sure that this whole quarrel with this 'Gutsy Smurf' is really just a misunderstanding?"
Crafty sighed, shutting her eyes tightly as she shook her head, "King, please-"
"I know, but I'm just asking for you to consider something: Don't take this fight so seriously. I'm sure he didn't mean a word he said to you. In fact, I think he really misses you and is wondering where you are."
The inventor Smurfette wiped her clenched fists at her moistening eyes, where even more tears were threatening to fall, "That's enough. I'll deal with this after I'm done with Noa. Wish me luck, King. Let's go, Rose."
Crafty stormed off, not speaking another word nor waiting for Rose to follow. The fox bat quirked an eyebrow, then shook her head and flew off after the Smurfette.
King sighed, shaking his head, "Crafty, you're quite bright in so many ways, but you are indeed the most stubborn girl I've ever encountered."
Three canaries flew down from the trees above the peacock, the three of them landing on the ground right in front of him. They stared after the Smurfette and the bat before one of them turned to the peacock, speaking in a Brooklyn accent,
"Eh, King? What'chu think's up with the little blue Life Giver?"
King shook his head, "Oh, I have a pretty good idea, Rocco…and it's not good at all…"
"Thanks, Rose. Say 'hi' to Vladimir for me, won't you?" Crafty saluted after dropping from the fox bat's grip in the southeast part of the Drakonus palace.
"Oh, ha ha. Very funny," Rose rolled her eyes. She and Vladimir were once mates, but were now bitterly separated for many decades. "I'll be seeing you, I hope!"
Crafty waved as the bat flew away, then turned to the large, ragged formations of the palace. Even as intimidating as it looked, it was almost like a second home to her before she lived in the Smurf Village. But now, well, now it just looked terrible. The sun didn't shine anymore and it always looked like a storm was about to happen even when they didn't.
She managed to sneak in without a hitch and snuck along the walls to avoid being seen. Unfortunately, in order to find where Noa was, Crafty would have to cross through the one room that she could never get comfortable with.
"Ugh…" Crafty shuddered, completely uneasy as she walked through the dimly lit room, the entire room filled with dead and stuffed animals. Apparently Noa's ancestors were great hunters and were proud to put their trophies on display. And, of course, a preservation spell did keep them all from decaying and stinking up the place.
There was a whole collection of exotic and unique creatures: a giant, black-furred mammoth, a wild boar that was by far the biggest and bulkiest she's ever seen, and even a snake that was well about sixty feet long and as thick as a tree.
"Couldn't they at least open the curtains up every now and then?" she rubbed her arms, still feeling like all the eyes were on her. That…and every time she went in that room, she always heard whispering. It wasn't so loud or clear, but it was definite whispering.
"There's still time to turn back, Crafty," Angel fluttered out in a cloud of white smoke. He flew close by as he continued, "This is really not a smurfy idea to come in here alone! Don't you remember what happened the last time you came here alone?"
Crafty cringed a bit, shaking her head, "Don't remind me…"
"Besides, what about your family? I know you're angry with Gutsy, but are you sure you're not overreacting just a little…?" Angel asked, skidding to a stop in mid-air as Crafty scoffed.
"Are you really taking his side?! Were you not even there when he said those things to me?!"
"Ignore Little Henry Halo," Devil chuckled cruelly, his black wings flapping powerfully while he hovered next to Crafty's head. "Gutsy got everything he had comin' to him."
"But don't you think Gutsy was a little…you know…not himself?" Angel asked her, zooming up onto her hat. He rubbed his chin as he implied, "Something just wasn't smurfy with that whole thing. Maybe you should go back and think this through a little better-"
"I told you, I'll worry about that when I'm done with Noa! For smurf's sake, will you just leave it alone?!"
Angel sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose as laid back down, flat on Crafty's hat. His eyes roamed downward, but then widened drastically.
"C-Crafty…?"
"Not now, Angel!" Crafty hissed lowly.
"B-But-" Angel gasped, shielding himself with his arms before poofing away.
Devil rolled his eyes and turned around, but suddenly his wings and tail sagged. He didn't turn, but he did say, "Kid, if you're only going to listen to me only a few times in your life, now would be good. RUN FOR IT!"
"What?" Crafty said as she turned around, but Devil had already disappeared. Instead, she met the very familiar feline face of Azrael, grinning predatorily as he crouched down, ready to pounce.
"Oh, hey Whiskers! Long time, no smurf!" Crafty leaned casually on the platform that held a stuffed snow leopard. "How's it hanging?"
"REOW ROW!" Azrael hissed, his ears flattening on his head as he narrowed his eyes and prowled forward.
Crafty lashed out, grabbing onto and plucking off a handful of whiskers from his face. Azrael yowled and jumped back, pawing at his face where he was now whisker-less.
"That's what I thought!" the Smurfette called out, throwing the whiskers to the ground before taking off out of the room and down the hall. Azrael shook his head and growled before chasing after her.
"Oh, smurf! How did those two get back here?! I thought we had'em trapped in New York!" Crafty hissed, pushing herself to run even faster as the feline was now catching up with her.
She turned a sharp corner and so did Azrael, only he slid down the carpet before scrambling back after her. Thinking quickly, Crafty jumped onto the drapes that hung on the walls and climbed, only Azrael was capable of doing the same. So, she ran along the edge, which was also accomplished by the cat.
At the end of the hall, a set of double doors opened and a tan scaled Drakonus was carrying a large platter. Crafty jumped down with a loud yell, and Azrael did the same. The Drakonus cried out when he felt the sudden thumping weight on the dish, making him stumble back through the doors and throw the platter across a long table filled with food.
The evil witches and warlocks all cried out and got covered with food. Both Crafty and Azrael groaned as the large platter came to a stop at the head of the table, where Zorathix sat. He blinked his onyx eyes as set down his silverware.
"Ah, Crafty. How nice of you to finally join us."
Crafty grunted as she fixed her hat, brushing off the bits of food from herself. Azrael meowed and shook himself off as well before hissing at the Smurfette as he brought up a paw. Zorathix grabbed onto Crafty and held her close just as the feline brought down his claws.
"So sorry, but this one's not on the menu."
Crafty rubbed her head as she commented, "Wow. I feel so special."
"Gargamel! Take that foolish feline and get him out of here!" Balthazar bellowed, wiping off the bits of his food off of his face.
Crafty sat up and looked around, scrunching her nose as she jabbed a thumb and asked, "Hey, why'd you invite these losers?"
"*snort* Hey! Keep your remarks to yourself!" Hogatha shouted, utterly offended.
"Now, now. No need to resort to violence. Besides, Crafty has been a guest of honor for many years now," Zorathix put up a clawed hand. "You must stay for dinner of course. I'm sure you're exhausted from your long journey from the village of the Smurfs."
Crafty blinked, arching an eyebrow as she said, "Okay…I don't think I even want to know how you knew where I was, first of all. Second, I'm only here for one reason and it doesn't involve gorging myself on a buffet. Or becoming part of it, either-"
It had to have been some sort of mental command because when Zorathix's head shifted ever so slightly, the doors tore open. Three of the largest Shadow Hounds that Crafty had ever seen charged in, snarling and foaming slightly at the mouth. All of them prowled towards the head of the table, their eyes completely focused on the Smurfette in their master's hand.
"RRROWW!" Azrael yowled in fear, jumping up onto the chandelier hanging above them, making the other enemies of the Smurfs laugh at his expense.
Crafty gulped slightly, not letting her fear show as she said, "On the other hand, I guess it wouldn't smurf to get some food in my stomach…uh, those things've been fed, right?"
The half-moon was up high that night and the sky was clear, so the sea was as calm as could be. And that's what drove the Scotsmurf completely insane.
Gutsy sat on the railing at the bow of the small ship, his legs dangling and his head looking down into the water. Ever since the encounter with Sailor Smurf, he was really itching to get back onto the land as soon as possible. He half-expected the ancient Life Giver to come back and get him in his sleep, another reason he couldn't let himself rest.
Era had used her spell and now, according to her calculations, they would reach their destination by morning. Apparently, it would be too dangerous to port right at the Isle of Drakoi, so it was agreed that they would land on the island where the Smurfette village was.
"Hey, Scotsmurf. What's got your kilt in a knot?" Era crossed her arms, setting them down on the railing of the ship next to Gutsy.
"Couldn' sleep, lass?" He asked, not taking his eyes off of the ocean below.
Era shook her head, "Not really. You?"
Gutsy shrugged his shoulders and shook his head, thus giving his answer. The two turned around at the sound of a yawn and saw Xavier climbing onto the stairs.
"I thought I heard voices. What's going on?" he asked, climbing onto the crates to at least get to about their eye level.
"Nothing. We just couldn't sleep is all," Era replied, looking up at the sky where the stars were shining brightly.
Gutsy hummed a bit, kicking his feet a bit as he had all of these sudden thoughts. There was just something else about their encounter with Sailor that really bothered him.
"Eh, lass. I gotta ask somethin'," he turned to the human sorceress, who turned to look down. "Who're Suave and Violette, anyhow?"
Era's eyebrows arched tall, obviously taken aback by the question. One of them quirked down as she asked, "Why do you want to know?"
"Don' pull that with me, Era. Ye know perfectly why I want te know," Gutsy retorted, crossing his arms. "Who are they?"
"Yeah, come on. I could use a bedtime story now that you both woke me up," Xavier said, lying on top of the crates and becoming comfortable.
"Centuries pass by and the men just get more and more stubborn," Era sighed, drumming her fingers on her arm as she thought of how to begin. Then she said, "I guess I should start at the beginning. Suave Smurf was a great Life Giver. Strong, brave, and probably one of the best singers in all of Smurf-kind. Anyway, Sailor did keep him isolated from his own family."
"So, he did smurfnap dem from their families," Gutsy thought aloud. Man, did that make his blood boil! It's bad enough to have all of those rules and restrictions, but they couldn't even get to know their own families? That is way beyond unfair!
"How the heck did a guy like Sailor put up with naming and raising Smurfs and Smurfettes, anyway?" Xavier arched an eyebrow. For some reason-actually, for obvious reasons, even though Sailor was known as the 'Father Life Giver', he couldn't see Sailor as being an actual 'fatherly' kind of Smurf.
"Oh, please!" Era scoffed as she rolled her eyes. "My dad couldn't name a pet rock. I'm the one who gave the Life Givers their names and practically raised them. Sailor only trained them on controlling and honing their powers."
"Ouch," Xaiver blinked with a bland tone of voice. "Don't get me wrong, don't you think that those blue guys weren't as stable and…you know, happy, as these blue guys?"
"Believe me, I know so, but what could I have done? Anyway, my dad didn't do all that good of a job at keeping Suave away from the other Smurfs and Smurfettes. So one day, Suave had found a group of Smurfs and Smurfettes picking their Smurfberries and…well, one thing led to another, and then Suave met Violette. She's actually the one who found him."
Xavier arched his eyebrows, "And Violette is…?"
"She's a Smurfette, ye ninny!" Gutsy answered with a roll of his eyes.
"I know what she is! What I want to know is why she's named Violette!"
Era then explained, "I think she was named Violette because she loved the color purple. She also had violet eyes instead of your normal smurfy blue. Well, the two kept seeing each other over the years and…eventually, they fell in love. And then they wanted to marry…"
"But they couldn', could they? Because of Sailor's law?" Gutsy asked, bringing his legs back up onto the railing and crossing them.
The blonde girl nodded, "Yes, but they went through with it, anyway. It was pretty hard keeping it a secret from Sailor, but unfortunately, he knows everything about everything. And he always finds out sooner or later…"
The two males couldn't help but pick up on the subtle bitterness in her voice. That was an indication that either she was angry or that she was guilty about what had happened after the marriage. Or both.
Gutsy set his hands on her arm, asking carefully, "Lass, what happened?"
Era didn't look at either of them, but did wince a bit as she said, "When Sailor found out, he had them both punished…Violette was turned into a statue and hidden away so that she couldn't use her powers, but Suave…he got the full brunt of the punishment…"
"Uh, I don't really think that things could get much worse than getting turned into a statue," Xavier then scrunched his snout in thought. "Or see your wife get turned into a statue for that matter."
Era shook her head, "Suave loved to sing. It was the one thing he loved more than life, me, or even Violette. He would never go a day without singing. It was actually his special talent as a Life Giver, actually. But…"
The girl let her head drop down, a sob racking at her body as her fingers clenched down harder on her arms, "Sailor put an end to it. He took away Suave's voice…he couldn't sing, he couldn't even talk! I should've stopped him…but I didn't…"
The Scottish Smurf jerked back a bit with a gasp. Would Sailor really go along those lines of punishment if he and Crafty were to marry? Would it really be worth it to go through all that trouble?
He shook his head. No. That wasn't any way to think. If he and Crafty wanted to marry, powers or no powers, then they would do just that. And if Sailor so much as even touched he or heaven forbid Crafty-!
"Okay, this is too much! Gutsy, have you been considering just not marrying Crafty?" Xaiver asked, just a bit of exasperation in his voice.
"What?!" Gutsy snapped at him, completely taken aback.
"Come on, Gutsy! This is getting really serious!" the badger growled back, the slightest bit of genuine concern in his eyes. "If Sailor's against marriage that much, don't push your luck any more than you already have! Besides, I'm just saying don't get married! The law says that Crafty can't get married, right?"
At the nod of the Smurf, he then continued, "Exactly! It says she can't marry! It doesn't say anything about actually being together!"
"Well…you could look at it that way, but there's one thing that you're not considering," Era interjected, lifting her head back up and earning back the attention of the males in an instant. She sighed and wiped at her wet eyes, "The main reason that Violette and Suave broke the rule in the first place is because Life Givers are practically immortal, as you can see from my dad…"
She looked Gutsy right in the eye and said, "Gutsy, that would mean that if you and Crafty did get back together and didn't marry, she would outlive you, without a doubt. Do you really want to go through the rest of your life knowing that you really won't be together forever-"
"No," Gutsy answered without the slightest of hesitation. "I've already made up me mind. I ain' givin' up. Dis ain' even about our marriage, anymore. It'd kill me if what happened to Suave and Violette happened te me and me lassie, but I'd feel even worse if I just gave in! I'm fightin' this! Anybody smurf enough te help me can join!"
He turned his back to them, crossing his arms with a loud 'humph!' In all honesty, though, he was hoping that the two would be at least a little supportive of what he wanted to do. If he was going up against a Smurf like Sailor and a centuries-old law, he would need all the help he could get…especially from the most powerful people he could find.
"I'll do it."
Gutsy's rusty eyebrows arched and he slowly turned back. Era set her hand down on the railing near the Smurf.
"I know it's too late to fight for Suave and Violette, but at least now their sacrifice wouldn't have been for nothing. The only way things are going to change is if we fight for it. So, I'm in. What about you guys?"
"Aye," Gutsy nodded, setting his blue hand on the sorceress's. The two looked to Xavier, who flattened his ears on his head at the sudden attention he was getting.
"The one time I actually bring up a plan that will benefit everyone…" he muttered, but set his paw on Era's anyway. "But, if you insist on getting your smurf pounded into the ground. So…does this make us, like, freedom fighters, now?"
Era shook her head slowly, her face showing she was in deep thought, "No. As long as I've remembered, the Life Givers, Creatugos, and Drakonus have been fighting and haven't found any common ground yet. I think the sooner we fix that, the sooner we can bring Zorathix down."
"Um…okay. But if this is gonna be an actual thing, we should at least have a name, right? What should it be?"
Era lowered her head, her face contorted in thought, "The Violet Swan."
The two boys looked at her strangely. She then further explained, "Yeah. The Order of the Violet Swan. Violette's Creature form was a swan. Like I said, it's too late to fight for them, but I think it would at least do them some justice. Any objections?"
Gutsy shrugged, "None from me."
"Yeah, sure," Xavier replied. "So…what do we do now? Plan some more or actually go to bed?"
Up above in the crow's nest, Benevolent was seated as he looked down upon them in deep interest. He was in his archangel form: pure white robe and wings, golden sash, and a bright glowing halo above his head.
His ears perked at the coo of a dove and he smiled, "Good evening, my dear Charity."
A white dove swooped down and around Benevolent, her body taking on a golden glow before landing next to him. The glow dimmed and revealed, instead of a dove, an angel Smurfette. She had reddish-brown hair that was tied in a low bun, but other than that, she was dressed similarly like Benevolent.
"And good evening to you, too, my darling Benevolent," she greeted back, pressing herself against Benevolent's side. She looked down at the three far below, then back at him, "Do you really think they can manage changing Sailor's mind?"
Benevolent chuckled warmly, looking to her from the corner of his eye, "I know they can. Gutsy is a very stubborn Smurf. With Crafty's own stubbornness combined, there's nothing those two can't do."
"And what of that setup Sailor had done? Do you think she will be able to see past it?" Charity inquired, blinking her big, smurfy blue eyes at her mate.
The Archangel Smurf sighed deeply, "She's smart enough to see through it, but I'm afraid her anger and grief has blinded her at the moment. Giver her time, my dear, and she will see through it."
Down below…
"You know, I can always keep watch," Era said to the Scotsmurf, who let his legs dangle over the railing once again and swung them restlessly. "My dad isn't going to come at us in the middle of the night, Gutsy."
"Oh? And what makes ye think I'm worried about yer Da comin' at us, lass?" Gutsy asked, sounding defensive.
"She's not the only one who can tell, you know," Xavier tiredly commented, he being sprawled out on top of the crates. "You look really…jumpy."
Gutsy scoffed, "Right! I'm just itchin' te get back onto dry land. I ain' afraid of anysmurf!"
"Well, you should be."
"GAH!" the Scottish Smurf yelped, jumping and nearly falling off of his seat on the railing. He breathed heavily and grabbed his chest as Pridette strolled along the railing, her arms crossed as she came to a stop where the three were.
"Hey, you're Crafty's twin…Pridette, isn't it?" Xaiver lifted his head.
The brunette Smurfette nodded, "Yeah, that's right. What of it?"
"Nothing! Sheesh! Having one smart-alecky Smurfette like Crafty around is more than enough…" he grumbled, setting his head back on the crate.
Pridette rolled her eyes before asking, "So, what's all this about?"
"Just the first meeting of the Order of the Violet Swan," Era smugly answered her. "A…still-growing society that fights against injustice and promotes peace, trust, and equality."
The Smurfette's eyebrows arched as she took all of that information. Then, she casually shrugged her shoulders and said, "What the smurf. Mind if I join?"
Xavier lifted his head back up, "You're not serious…"
Pridette snapped in his direction, "I am serious, now would you kindly smurf up?"
The gruff badger groaned, burying his face into his paws. It was honestly bad enough having Crafty around to be all back-talk and such! But now having Pridette is almost like another Crafty is there!
Gutsy blinked, but then shook his head as he smiled at Pridette, "Well, thank ye, lass. The more help we can get, the better."
"Which reminds me…" Pridette mumbled to herself.
SLAP!
Xavier's ears shot straight up and he swiped his paws from his eyes. Era had a hand over her mouth, her face turned into one of shock. Gutsy, however, was flat on his back, groaning in pain as he rubbed his now stinging cheek.
"What was dat for?! I already told ye all I never said any of those things te Crafty!"
Pridette shrugged, dusting her hand on her dark pink dress, "I know…but think of that as a little reminder of what will happen if you smurf with my sister the way Sailor did."
Crafty kicked her feet as they dangled off of a side table in the grand library of the Drakonus palace. Zorathix sat across from her, only a few feet away, sipping at some sort of boiling herbal tea.
"Why are you doing this, Noa?"
The Drakonus's onyx eyes roamed up from his cup to the Smurfette. He took the cup away from his snout and set it down. His dark orange wings and dark green robes swayed slightly as he stood up.
"If only you knew, then you wouldn't need to ask that question, now would you?"
Crafty shook her head, "I don't get it. What the smurf happened to you?! You used to be one of my best friends! And Aurora, and my sisters! I thought you loved them! What's happened to you?!"
"Things change," he explained simply, walking slowly around the table where Crafty sat. She stood up and turned with him, not allowing herself to have his back turned to him. Whether it was out of respect of royalty or a very high danger instinct, she didn't know.
"I'm sorry, by the way, about the young Smurf who said all of those horrible things to you," he continued. "The one, I believe, you said you intended to marry-"
"You leave him out of this!" Crafty hissed out. "Gutsy has nothing to do with this! This is just between me and you!"
Zorathix arched his non-existent eyebrows, "Ah, so that's his name. Keep in mind, though, that I'm only trying to be of assistance."
"I don't need your assistance with my love life! Now, for the last time, smurf out of my business and answer my questions!" the Smurfette bellowed out, now finally losing her patience.
Zorathix's face was kept neutral, but he did fold his hands behind his back and spoke softly, "Very well. You want answers? I'll give you answers…"
From behind his back and away from Crafty's eyes, something slid out of the Drakonus's sleeve. His clawed and scaled fingers clamped down around the curved, silver dagger that gave off a menacing, lethal glint in the dim light of the fire nearby.
Well…I said there would be character death, and there shall be character death…just not in this chapter. You're gonna have to wait until the next chapter for what happens next.
Btw, sorry if this chapter is pretty short, but you have to admit that it's pretty informative. Believe me, the next one will be even more shocking and even more exciting! Have a nice one, guys!
