Chapter 19- Majora's Plan and a New Enemy
After Link and the others got proper passes to go on the Death Mountain Trail, they started their trek up the mountain. "Yo Link," Metabee started, "Any idea who or what we're looking for at all?" "Last I recall," Link answered, "I think a kid from school lived in a small village somewhere up close to the top of the mountain. We could probably ask him if anything strange has been happening." "Now that you mention it," Malon added, "I think I met him once." "Really?" Zelda asked, "Who was it?" "I forget his name," The country girl sighed, "He had an interest in me once, but I had my eyes set on someone else at the time." Link was not liking where this was going, being able to pick up who that 'someone else' actually was. Sheik knew who it was too, but decided to stay quiet for his friend's sake. After a few minutes, everyone heard a rumbling beneath their feet as a couple boulders crashed down, luckily not hitting anyone in the process. "Yow," Casey spoke up, "Talk about a rock slide." "I hear you on that one Casey," Jedediah agreed, "I reckon we better start being careful from here on." "I just don't understand it though," Midna thought out loud, "I thought that Death Mountain was supposed to be dormant. What's got it going again?" "It has to be Ganondorf's doing." Link replied, looking up at the summit of Death Mountain. "Then that means we better get a move on." Rokusho finished as the group continued their trek, but a swifter pace. Farther up, Majora watched the group carefully make their way up the mountain as she grinned childishly. "Oh I just love how humans try to be so careful when things like this happen," Majora, still in her teenage form, snickered as she twirled the purple lock of hair around her finger, "But now it's time to act out my plan to get their trust and kill the Hero's descendant." She trotted down the path a ways and found two boulders that would be of use to her, but they were too far apart. "Hmm…" She mused, "I better fix this before I lose time and have to try something else." A dark cherry colored whip appeared in her left hand as she cracked it at the boulder to her left, which in turn caused the whip to wrap around the boulder. Majora then used her powers to heave the boulder closer to the other and then retreated her weapon. The sorceress in disguise positioned her foot to give the appearance of it being stuck and put some mid-sized rocks on top to add to her façade.
Just as Link and the others could be heard coming up the path, Majora started crying out in pain and called for help. Hearing the cry, Link and the others quickened their pace to find Majora stuck and unable to get free, though they didn't know who she was. Her figure was thin, and she wore a denim jacket over a violet colored tie-dye shirt, as well as jeans that matched her jacket and black boots. Her brown hair was drawn up in a messy bun on the back of her head, but had a streak of purple on the left side. "Help, please!" The girl cried, "I was hiking up the mountain path when that rumbling came and my foot got caught between these rocks when they came down." "It's alright now," Link started, "We're going to get you out." He, Sheik, Jedediah, and their medabots then started to work on removing the rocks on top off her foot as Zelda, Malon, and Midna got ready to heave her out. Casey took the liberty of having the girl hold onto a strand of rope as he wanted to pitch in and help pull her out. "Alright," Link called a couple minutes later, "All the rocks are off. Sheik, Jed, help me push this boulder." On the count of three, the boys pushed as hard as they could as the girls helped pull her out. Casey did his best too, though the rocky ground wasn't giving him a lot of traction, he still tried nonetheless. After much pushing and pulling, the girl's foot was finally freed. However, when the girl released Casey's rope, the locomotive type went charging into the rock wall with a loud clang. Jedediah immediately went to tend to his medabot. "Casey," He asked, "You alright Deputy?" Casey medachanged and collapsed on his back. "Jed, is that you?" The medabot asked, "If it is, can you stop spinning the room? You're making me sick to my boiler." The Texan chuckled to himself, "He'll be alright." "Thanks for helping me," The girl muttered timidly, "I thought I was a goner until you came along." "No problem," Metabee stated, "If there's a call for help, we'll answer." "I'll keep that in mind." Majora thought to herself. "Can you walk?" Sheik asked, lending a hand for support. "I don't know," The girl strained as she tried to get up, but sat back down and winced in pain, "I can't, it hurts too much. Can one of you boys carry me?" Link, Sheik, and Jedediah glimpsed at each other for a second before Link picked her up bridal style as they all started back down the mountain path. Casey quickly regained consciousness and ran to catch up with the others.
Meanwhile in the plateau village, Knuckles was throwing wrestlers out of the ring left and right without applying much effort to do it. Just as he threw the last one over, he looked over and glared at the remaining wrestlers. "Who's next?" He smirked, which resulted in the wrestlers to look at each other and back off, knowing that they stood no chance against Knuckles. "Very well done," The village leader applauded as Knuckles put his shirt back on and wiped the sweat off his forehead, "For a time I actually doubted you." "Yeah?" Knuckles responded, "Well it seems a lot of people do that regarding me." "However, I am a man of my word." The village leader continued, "You may stay and rest as long as you wish." "Thank you, I appreciate it." The teenager finished as Gokudo met up with him outside the ring. "Man Knux," Gokudo started, "Those guys were nothing compared to you." "He may have been to them, but he will fall to me." A boy of about eighteen stated. "And who would you be?" Knuckles asked as he crossed his arms. "I am Darunia," He answered, "Son of the village chief." Darunia's attire stuck to native Indian shirts and leggings, as well as a headdress that covered a majority of his head, though his stern face could still be seen. "Well then," The red-dressed teenager returned, "Call me Knuckles." "I can see why." Darunia replied, seeing the metal spikes on Knuckles gloves. "Well if it's a fight you want Darunia," Knuckles continued, "Then I'm ready when you are." Darunia thought for a minute. He has had his share of matches today, and was somewhat tired himself. But then he noticed his medabot, Maasai Moran, and called him over. "Up here in our village, I don't see a lot of robattles." Darunia started, "My challenge to you shall be between our medabots." Maasai Moran was a king lion type medabot with a black and red color scheme. His attacks included a high-powered rifle with an extendable barrel for his right arm. And his left arm was a strong gatling gun. "Let's do it Knux," Gokudo stated as he stepped forward, "I can take this guy." "Maasai Moran, prepare for battle." Darunia added as the lion type met his opponent. However, just as the match was about to begin, the mountain's rumbling started up again and caused a small panic to ensue throughout the village. "Looks like our match will have to wait," Knuckles spoke up as he looked at the summit, "Gokudo, we need to get going." "You don't need to tell me twice." The warrior type answered as they started off, leaving the Chief's son and his medabot behind to tend to the panic of the village with his Father.
After Link and the others made it back to Kakariko Village, they helped the girl to the hospital to get her foot seen, with Link still carrying her. After she was released, she met back up with the group, limping slightly, but in much better condition than when they first found her. "So how was it?" Jedediah asked. "I'll be fine; the doctor simply said that it's just a little swollen from getting trapped under the rocks." She answered casually, and then looked over at Link. "Thanks for carrying me here, I feel like a huge burden for you having to do that." "Don't be," Link interrupted, "You needed help, and we couldn't just leave you." She smiled bashfully, "Thank you." "What's your name by the way?" Metabee asked, "It's been like an hour since we first met you and we don't even know it." "Metabee," Link fussed, "Give her a break will you?" "No, it's fine." The girl interrupted, "I feel like I owe it to you." Majora thought hard, she forgot to give herself a name for her new identity. "My name's Maddy." She finally answered. "Nice to meet you Maddy," Link answered, "I'm Link, and you've met Metabee. And these are my friends Sheik and Nin-Ninja, Zelda and Rokusho, Malon and Brown Bison, Jed and Casey, and Midna." "Nice to meet you," Maddy smiled, "Especially you Link." The green-dressed teenager turned a little red in the face at her comment. "You're really strong," Maddy complimented, "I mean; to have been able to carry me all the way back here." She started hugging his arm and complimenting him more on everything she currently knew about him to the point of causing Zelda to grimace annoyingly. "Well, we better be on our way," Zelda spoke up finally, "It was nice to meet you Maddy. I hope your foot gets better." She started passively leading Link out by the hand until Maddy grabbed Link's other arm once more. "Couldn't I hang out with you guys for a while? I mean, I feel like I'm just getting to know you." "Well we have to get back on the mountain path and keep going," Zelda continued, trying to be compassionate, "And we wouldn't want you to get hurt again." It was right about then that Death Mountain's rumbling caused a boulder to crash down. The teens raced outside to find their path blocked by a huge boulder, as well as the rumbling coming to a halt, for now. "Well I reckon we're not going anywhere until the path is clear." Jedediah stated.
Back in Hyrule City, Ganondorf went back outside to think a little more about his master plan. That is, until Dark approached him with someone following closely. "Lord Ganondorf," Dark started, "This character said he had an interesting proposition for you to hear." "Lord Ganondorf?" The figure repeated, acting like he sarcastically didn't know, "You mean the powerful warlock from Hyrule of old?" Ganondorf didn't move from his spot for a minute, but then began to speak. "State your business with me," The warlock growled, still not turning to face him, "Whoever you are." "Oho ho ho," The figure laughed, "Forgive me; it seems I forgot to introduce myself." He bowed respectfully, "I am Dr. Eggman, evil genius extraordinaire." Dr. Eggman's attire matched his eccentricity, being a red lab coat over a black jumpsuit, white gloves, a pair of shades that covered his eyes and a pair of goggles on his bald head. His defining feature was his mustache, being a dark orange color and branching from under his nose and outward a ways. "You talk highly of yourself Doctor," Ganondorf stated, "But I have no interest in titles." "My apologies," Eggman continued, "Now, about my proposition. It has come to my attention that you have your eyes set on ruling Hyrule, but I can offer you something that will ease the difficulty of the task." "I have all the resources I need at my disposal," The warlock sternly answered, "I have no need for what you have to offer." "Oh come now," The Doctor persisted, "Allow me to at least show you a morsel of what's at my disposal." He pressed a button on the cuff of his glove as a massive flying fortress descended from the clouds minutes later. It was armed to the teeth and clearly told of its destructive intentions. Dark became somewhat impressed with the craft as it came to a halt and floated above the business building. "And I have plenty more where that came from," Eggman chuckled, stroking his mustache, "And it can all be yours in exchange for a simple request." Ganondorf glimpsed at the massive flying battleship and turned to face the Doctor, "Name your request." "Oho ho, I knew you'd see things my way," Eggman laughed, "But first, I have a question for you." He pressed another button that brought up holographic images of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. "Have you seen these individuals at all?" The Doctor asked, but Ganondorf stayed silent, "They have been a thorn in my side for years, and I simply ask that you bring them here and hand them over to me. Do so, and my army is yours to command as you please." Ganondorf thought hard as he started at the images, and then smirked evilly. "So be it." He said at last. "An excellent choice Gan- I mean, Lord Ganondorf. Say where you need it, and I'll send a legion of my robotic army there immediately." Eggman answered happily as Dark left them to talk.
Meanwhile in Kakariko Village, the group decided to have lunch since they couldn't go any further until the path was cleared. Maddy joined them, and when they got to the restaurant, she made sure to snag the seat next to Link before anyone else did. They all chose to eat at an outdoor sandwich place about five minutes away from the town square. However, just around the corner and out of sight, were Sonic and Tails keeping a close eye on the group. "Hey Sonic," Tails asked, pointing at Maddy, "Who's that girl over there? I don't remember seeing her at all." "Beats me." Sonic replied as he finished what was left of his third chili-dog. About halfway through the meal, Maddy got up to stretch, but Tails noticed a hidden dagger that Maddy's left hand was reaching for. "Uh, Sonic? We got trouble." Tails worried as he pointed at Maddy once more. "Hmm, I follow you now; she won't get the chance to use it with me around." Sonic smirked as he dashed at light-speed past Maddy and smacked her hand as sped around the restaurant without even being seen. The girl was taken aback somewhat as she looked around to see what happened, but saw nothing. "Hey Maddy," Midna asked, "You finished?" "Oh, no. Not yet, just stretching is all." Maddy answered. She made another attempt at the dagger, but Sonic rushed past her and smacked her hand again. Now whatever was going on was really getting on her nerves. She made one more attempt, but this time, the blue-dressed speedster snatched the dagger before her hands even made it to where it was hiding. "What is going on here?" Majora thought to herself irritatingly as she sat back down and tried to remain inconspicuous, "Well whatever it is; it's really starting to tick me off." Back around the corner, Sonic met up with his friend and played with the dagger in his hands. "You were right little buddy," Sonic chuckled, "Good eye." "Thanks, but what're you going to do with that?" Tails asked as he looked around to see if they were being watched. "Not sure," The blue-dressed teenager shrugged, "But I guess we should hang onto it just in case, ya know?" Tails agreed as they started around the back of the restaurant and got onto the sidewalk from the other side. Maddy looked up and saw them, but shrugged it off carelessly as she started to fawn over Link again. Link may have been saved without him knowing it, but time will only tell if Sonic can keep it up without being seen.
Well now Majora/Maddy has set her plan in motion to kill Link, but it was thanks to Sonic that her first attempt was thwarted. Can he keep it up? The only way to find out is to read on…
