When we last left our heroes, they were able to make it into Kakariko Village and relax a little before starting up the Death Mountain path. Part of the way up, they found a girl, whom was Majora in disguise, stranded and injured. They stopped to lend her a hand and helped her back down the path. When they were ready to continue their journey, the mountain became active and dropped a boulder onto the only way up the path. What'll happen next? Chapter 20-Hero meets Hero

Later on in the day, the group decided to split up and have some fun while they waited for the path to be cleared. All the guys went one way with their medabots, and the girls went another with theirs. Sonic and Tails however seemed stumped, as they couldn't keep an eye on Link and Maddy at the same time; or could they? "Alright Tails," Sonic started, "Based on what we've seen that girl attempt so far, I think it might be best if I keep an eye on her." "W-Wait a second," Tails stammered, "Then that means I have to keep track of the Hero's descendant." "Yup, you got it." The seventeen-year-old smirked, "Have fun." He then sprinted off around the corner, leaving the tween to mutter worriedly to himself as he started after Link and the guys. Just as the guys passed the convenience store a couple minutes later, Casey inadvertently walked head-first into the light post. "Watch where you're goin' Deputy." Jedediah laughed. "I would," Casey returned, "But ever since I ran head-first into that rock wall on the mountain path my vision's been knocked out of alignment." "Really?" Jedediah asked, "Then why didn't you tell me? I would've had you looked at already." "Well it wasn't a problem until about ten minutes ago." Casey shrugged as he rubbed the front of his head. "Maybe another whack to the head might fix it." Metabee piped up. "You do and I'll have a Tender Punch meet your gut before you make contact," The locomotive type fussed, "That is, that would be the case if I could see properly." "Ok," Metabee replied as he held three fingers in front of Casey, "How many fingers am I holding up?" "Hmm… eight." Casey answered, which in turn caused the guys to chuckle a bit. Tails hid behind the corner and watched, until Navi caught sight of him; which caused the tween to quickly hide behind the corner completely. "What's up Navi?" Link asked, seeing her perk up. "I think we're being watched." She warned. "I shall investigate." Nin-Ninja spoke up as he leaped onto the roof of the store and silently snuck up behind Tails. The tween got the fright of a lifetime when he saw the ninja type behind him and fell backwards into view of the guys. "Hey," Sheik called, "It's that one kid again." Tails quickly got back up on his feet and started backing away, until Navi flew ahead and bumped him forward. "Why are you following us?" Link simply asked as Tails became a nervous wreck on the inside. "I…" The orange-haired tween stammered, "I… heard that a medabot was having problems and was wondering if I could take a look at 'em."

"Well you didn't have to sneak up on us to ask that." Metabee snorted. "I guess I'm just a little shy around people." Tails muttered, scratching his head. "I say give 'em a chance," Casey piped up, "If I go any longer with my vision out of alignment, I'll go nuts." "Well if Casey here is willing," The Texan added, "Then I trust him." After a minute, the others agreed as they found an open spot for the tween to work on Casey. "What's your name by the way?" Link asked as he and the others sat down on the concrete. "I'm Miles," The tween answered, opening up a bit, "But you guys can call me Tails." "Why do they call you that?" Sheik asked. Tails pulled the ends of his scarf into view, "My scarf is colored like a fox tail, and since there are two ends, everyone started calling me Tails and the name stuck." "Makes sense," Link started, "I'm Link, and this is my medabot Metabee. Over here are Sheik and Nin-Ninja, and Jedediah. You've met Casey." "And me," Navi chimed in, "I'm Navi, nice to meet you Tails." "It's nice to meet you too." He answered as he reached into his left pocket and pulled out a device similar to that of a small pen. "What's that thingy?" Metabee asked as he sat down and got comfortable. "It's a tech pen," Tails explained, "It's like a multi-tool for inventors and mechanics. It has a soldering iron, a screwdriver, a small wrench, and a magnifying light all-in-one." He then unscrewed Casey's smokestack off and put it to the side, and then unscrewed the backside of Casey's head shell. "Well here's the problem," Tails started, seeing what the issue was right away, "Your targeting system was knocked loose Casey. How'd you do it exactly? It takes a tough blow to do that." The guys started to giggle, remembering how it happened. "Shut it you three!" Casey raged as Tails tried to hold him down. "It is a long story," Nin-Ninja started, "But I will summarize at Casey accidentally running head-first into a rock wall." The tween shrugged, "Well that'll do it. Now hold still Casey, and I'll try to realign your targeting system." He pulled out a piece of paper with a word on it and laid it directly between Casey's eyes on the ground. "Alright Casey, all you need to do is watch that piece of paper and let me know when the word on it gets clearer." Tails explained. After a minute he changed the top of his tech pen to the screwdriver and locked it on the screw holding the vision center and started twisting to the right. "It's clear as crystal Tails," Casey stated a couple seconds later as Tails stopped tightening, "Thanks." "No problem." The tween smiled as he reassembled the locomotive type's head.

Meanwhile, Sonic's job was much easier to do. Reason being was that the girls headed for a clothing store and disappeared. Knowing he'd be easier to spot in there, Sonic found a sturdy tree branch in the park nearby and climbed up onto it to take a snooze. About fifteen minutes later, the girls came out satisfied with their purchases and decided to head back to the square and wait for the guys on a nearby bench. Sonic watched them from his tree branch. "Hey Formula Racer, you there?" Sonic asked to his medawatch. "I'm here Sonic," He replied, "What's up?" "I'm beginning to wonder about that one girl over there." The teenager returned as he transported his medabot onto another branch. True to his name, Formula Racer was a racecar type based off of a formula 1 race vehicle. His color scheme was a candy apple red with tan accents and black racing tires. "Who?" Formula Racer asked, "The brown-haired one with the streak of purple?" "That's her." Sonic casually answered. "Well she seems fine to me," The racecar type shrugged, "She seems like she's having a good time." "So far," The teenager agreed, "But just earlier she was reaching for a dagger, and that's almost never good." "Fair point." Formula Racer finished, "Then I guess it's best to keep an eye on her as well as the Hero's descendant." "Well what do you think I've been doin' this whole time?" Sonic jested, "I sent Tails off to keep an eye on the Hero's descendant." "You hear anything back from Knuckles?" Formula Racer then asked, looking up at the mountain through the green leaves. "No, but I wouldn't worry about him." Sonic shrugged, getting comfortable, "Besides, this is Knuckles we're talking about. He could take down an army and not break a sweat." "True that," The racer type chuckled, and then noticed the guys meeting up with the girls, and Tails with them, "Sonic, look." "Hmm, well I guess if Tails made himself known, then I figure I should do the same." Sonic casually responded as he transported Formula Racer and waited for the opportune moment. The girls seemed surprised at the fact at Tails being there with them, which in turn caused Tails to worry. "Hey, weren't you that one kid from before?" Malon asked. "I…umm…" Tails stammered. He was never good at talking to girls, and having four of them right in front of him in his current situation only added to his growing panic. Sonic decided now was the time and decided to make himself known and give his buddy a hand.

"It looks like him," Midna started, "Where'd you go exactly after you bumped into Link?" Tails was a mental wreck at this point for a number of reasons, that is, until he heard a familiar voice. "You'll have to excuse my buddy here," Sonic casually called as he leaned on a telephone pole, "He's not real big on confrontations, especially when they're from a girl." Tails dashed for his pal and stayed next to him. "And just who might you be?" Sheik asked. Sonic chuckled a bit, "The name's Sonic. And you've met my buddy Tails." "Why do they call you Sonic?" Link asked. "Well let's see," Sonic started, "I've got Sonic Speed, Super Sonic, and Sonic Boom as nicknames. Take your pick." "Should we have asked?" Malon muttered as Maddy eyed them suspiciously. "Where have I seen those two before?" She thought quietly, "That's right; I saw them at the restaurant. Come to think of it, I did notice a blue blur rush past me when I tried to grab my dagger. Could this Sonic person be the one that stopped me? Well even if he was, he won't stop me from completing my task." "Nice to meet you Sonic," Link greeted, "I'm Link, and this is Metabee." "Nice to meet you guys." Sonic smiled, pretending like he was meeting them for the first time. After a few introductions, Link agreed to let Sonic and Tails tag along. "Link," Maddy started, "Don't you think the group is a little big already?" Maddy was determined to make sure that the duo stayed out of her way and tried to talk Link out of it. Zelda on the other hand agreed to let them join; one of the reasons was just to irritate Maddy. "So you want us to tag along or what?" Sonic shrugged, seeing the looks from both Zelda and Maddy saying opposite things. "Yeah, you guys can come along." Link spoke up. "I don't see any reason why they shouldn't," Casey piped up, "Tails over there was able to fix my targeting system, so he's fine by me." Jedediah snapped his fingers, "Now I know why you two seemed so familiar. I couldn't put my finger on it before, but now it makes sense." "What do you mean?" Sheik asked. "I remember seeing these guys at the airport when we arrived in Hyrule." "Now that you mention it," Tails added, eyeing the cowboy, "I remember seeing you too. Were you round the food court at the airport around noon that day?" "That's right Partner," The Texan smiled, "Small world isn't it?" "What's this about?" Metabee asked, "I'm lost." "We came to Hyrule because of a school project like Jedediah," Tails explained, "But I never expected to see Hyrule in this state when we arrived."

On the outskirts of Hyrule City and inside his battleship, Dr. Eggman snickered to himself as he entered the control room and sat in his chair. Shortly after, his robotic henchmen, Orbot and Cubot, joined him. "Why hello Sir," Orbot started respectfully, "How did it go?" "It was easier than I planned," Eggman exclaimed as he got up and started pacing, "Tricking Ganondorf into becoming an ally was much too easy. Now it'll only be a matter of time before I can enact the next part of my grand plan." "And what would that be Sir?" Orbot asked. Orbot was a spheroid based robot that could contract into a small orb for storage. His color scheme was mainly red and black, with neon blue eyes and mouth piece. Cubot was a cuboid based robot with yellow and black being his colors, as well as the ability to contract into a small cube. However, he was currently unable to speak due to faulty voice chips. "You blathering idiot!" The Doctor fumed, "How could you forget the grand plan?" "My apologies Sir," Orbot cowered, with Cubot behind him, "Cubot and I have been busy working on so many different projects here in the ship and were unable to successfully record what the plan was." "Fine," Eggman sighed, "Then make sure you pay attention this time around." He took a breath and continued. "The first part of my plan is complete. And that entailed tricking Ganondorf into an ally with a little persuasion. The next part of the plan requires time, and that's us simply taking orders from him and carrying them out faithfully; get him to trust us. But the final part of my plan is where things get interesting. With my massive army, I will launch an attack upon Ganondorf's own army and wipe them out at the opportune moment, which in turn will leave the warlord defenseless and alone, becoming a cinch to eliminate." Eggman was now getting excited, "And after he's out of the way, nothing will stop me from taking over Hyrule. And from there, the world!" The Doctor went into a maniacal laugh as he turned his battleship for Kakariko Village. "Excellent plan Sir," Orbot complimented, "Now what is our first order from Ganondorf?" "He said that he needed to launch an attack on the mountain town known as Kakariko Village," Eggman explained as he pulled up a holographic map of the city, "And by the looks of it, this should be easy." "Good to hear Sir," Orbot finished, "Do you wish for Cubot and I to ready the army?" "Yes, go and get them ready." Eggman approved as his henchmen left him alone in the control room. "This will be easier than I planned," The Doctor thought out loud, "Just as long as that blasted Sonic doesn't get in my way."

Back in Kakariko Village, Maddy glimpsed to her right and found Dark beckoning her behind the building quietly. "Hey guys," She started, "I'll be right back; I have to check something." Maddy followed Dark to the backside of a shop across the street and folded his arms impatiently. "Why is he still alive?" Dark started. "Relax will you?" Maddy sighed, "I made one attempt so far, and I'm still wondering myself how I was stopped from doing it." "You know time is of the essence Majora," The black-dressed teenager barked as he forcefully pinned Majora to the wall, "Now stop wasting time and kill him." "Whatever you say, your scariness." Maddy mocked as she threw off his grip. "Don't patronize me," Dark threatened, "We made a new ally while you were here wasting time cooing all over our enemy. And he's on his way now to finish what you won't." "So?" The sorceress in disguise snorted, "I highly doubt that whoever he is would be able to complete the task as well as I can." "Say what you want," Dark finished, "But don't say I didn't warn you. And if you want it keep it right with Lord Ganondorf, kill the Hero's descendant and stop wasting time with petty excuses!" Maddy looked around to see if anyone was watching as Dark disappeared in the shadows and left, leaving her alone behind the shop. After a minute, Maddy walked back out as she tied her hair into a ponytail, just to look like she was doing something. "Find anything?" Sonic asked. "No, I just thought I saw something over there, but it was nothing." "Alright, whatever." Sonic shrugged, "Hey Link, any idea where we're going next?" It was right about then that a black shadow covered the small town. The group looked up to find a massive battleship floating overhead as it dropped a couple hundred small robotic soldiers into and outside the village. "Eggman!" Sonic and Tails shouted in unison. "What's that egg-head want here?" Sonic asked. "Who?" Metabee asked. "Dr. Eggman," Tails explained, "He likes to cause trouble back in our home. And it seems that he followed us here and wants to try to take over Hyrule." "Well he won't get it that easily," Metabee started, "Because he's got a Metabee-Bopping coming his way!" "You said it Metabee," Casey agreed as he, Nin-Ninja, Brown Bison and Rokusho stepped forward and readied for battle, "Now let's show those tin cans what we can do!" Sonic met them readied himself, "You guys fight the ones in the village; I'll go ahead and see how many I can beat down from outside." He then dashed off as Link tried to follow, until Tails held him back, "He does this all the time, so don't worry." Link thought a minute and then nodded as the teens readied their medabots for when their moment to strike made itself known.

So we know that it's common knowledge that Dark really wants to kill Link himself. Will he get the chance? And how will Link and company fare against Eggman's assault? The only way to find out is to read on…
