Chapter 3
Sesi: the polishing continues! Let the adventure begin!
Arthur awoke that night to the strange feeling he had doesn't the past nineteen years feeling. The thing he had been searching for had been found. The person. The man. Alfred. Alfred F. Jones. Resident of Virginia. Arthur Kirklands soulmate had left the UK to a land far away that Arthur had not visited since the 1700s.
"Alfred" he tested. His name sounded perfect. Arthur sighed like a school girl in love. "Alfred F. Jones"
Arthur traveled back to the hotel and ghosted through the place. He arrived in Alfred's room seeing he had departed. His smell was getting a little stale and that was the whole reason Arthur had come to this place. Arthur found none of his personal effects were there anymore. He searched the room and found a letter under the bed. It was addressed to Alfred and was from a woman named Mattie Williams. Maybe it was a lover in Canada? The postage seemed to be Canadian.
Arthur pocketed the letter and opened the window positioning himself before shifting to his instinctual powers and jumped. He fell a bit and became a bat. He traveled to a bar where the night races usually hung out at. Like the werewolves, fae, witches and warlocks, spirits, so on and so forth. He landed on the front step and transformed back to his normal self and out of the instinctive state. He threw open the door and walked up to the bar. He sat down and instantly a flute of alcohol and blood sat before him.
As a king he was served instantly, they scurried around him. The stool next to his was taken by a tall man in a minute. "Greetings Ivan" Arthur said cooly to the werewolf. The big hulking man that next to him is the leader of the werewolves and frequented London bars because it just ticked off Arthur.
"Здравствуйте Kirkland. How are you on this fine night?" The wolf asked. Arthur glanced at him for a moment.
"I am quite fine. Can you sniff somebody out for me? After you dogs have that ability don't you?" He asked. He would ask a fae but they would laugh those deal loving wankers. He would also do it himself but that would lead a problem if he weren't able to control himself around Alfred.
"Oh? This is unexpected Kirkland. And who is it that has escaped you?" Braginsky asked. Arthur threw his head back and laughed. The possibility of Alfred escaping him is slim to none. That was what he found comedic.
"Would you like to go to America?" He asked and chugged back the last of the glass of blood. The alcohol touched him a little stronger than usual given that he had been running on fumes of blood and it had been a long time since he had drank any alcohol.
"Da, why not? If you pay of course" Ivan grinned. Arthur clapped him on the back.
"We leave tonight then." Arthur exclaimed. The Russian wolf nodded and hopped from his seat. Arthur tossed some money on the counter and walked out of the bar with his partner in crime.
The pair boarded a private plane of Arthur's. It had blackout windows, standby crew, and was on his property so they didn't have a problem with customs or anything. After all the night world lives next to the day world they just wake up at sunset instead of sunrise.
Arthur and Ivan boarded the plane and got ready to depart for America. Virginia to be exact.
Truth be told the vampire race and werewolves got along quite well. Not like best friends. That would be like Arthur and the fae as far as that goes. Even so it was a relationship of convenience. If push came to shove the species would easily be at each other's throats.
The small private jet landed outside Richmond, Virginia. Arthur remembered when the first ship arrived in America. He had been around for a very long time. Since before Christ for sure. But he spent centuries sleeping. So much time would pass before he would wake up. He always made sure he had somebody to rule in his absence, a strong woman but not quite a mate sometimes. Not somebody that attracted him like Alfred. Others times it was one of Arthur's brothers Llyweln or Alistair. Arthur and his brothers would go a millennia with out speaking however they attempted to try to get along once in a while.
Arthur's thought turned toward his prey and he blushed profusely. "Are you alright comrade?" He faintly heard. Arthur nodded.
The Russian crouched down and his skin started bubbling. His clothes melted into his skin except for his scarf. In a few minutes a pale gold colored wolf sat in front of Arthur. Arthur pulled the letter out of his pocket and held it out. He watched as the Russian sniffed it and the purple eyes widened. He spun around searching for the intoxicating scent and then settled on a direction. Arthur put the paper in his pocket and crouched as they sprinted off in the direction out of the city off into the distance of farmland. Arthur followed closely as they went further from the city until they passed towns and found themselves in rural virginia outside an old plantation style house on the edge of a farm with stables to the right side of the house and an addition with a garage to the left. Ivan sat down and whined before he transformed back.
"The smell. It's a him?" The werewolf asked still sitting. Arthur leaned on the side of the house as he caught his breathe from the sprint. Arthur pulled out a flask and took a long draught of it to replenish his extreme blood loss.
"Yes it is a him. My mate. Alfred F. Jones. Would you do me a solid?" Arthur asked rubbing the spot behind Ivan's ears. You can take the man out of the dog...
"That depends comrade" Ivan said after a bit his leg twitching.
"There may be another person. Mattie Williams. I don't know their connection. I was wondering if you would find out for me?" Arthur sighed.
"Sure why not. I figured this is why you want me here anyways. Well you can pay me later on" Ivan said. Arthur stopped rubbing behind Ivan's ear and Ivan's leg stopped shaking. Ivan shifted back to being a wolf and Arthur stepped back to see it lope off towards town.
With that Arthur pivoted and walked over to the house. Arthur opened the walked along the edge of the house looking for a way in that would get him past the rule of requiring permission to enter the abode.
On the second floor there was a porch for every bedroom (Arthur's guess also by going by knowledge of these types of homes) so Arthur climbed his way up the wall and found himself on a porch. Looking in he saw a large bed with a wardrobe full of woman's shirts and dresses along with a long line of overalls, tshirts, and boots covering the floor. Arthur guessed that this room belongs to Alfred's mother or sister if he has one. The scent of death hung over the room.
Climbing to the next porch Arthur looked in to see a room covered in Canadian, German, and Prussian flags as well as hockey posters, sticks, and jerseys as well as a wall of trophies and ribbons. Arthur couldn't decide if this were Alfred's room or not. He would continue looking for now.
The last room on this side of the house was obviously a guest room considering that it was nearly bare except for the floral bedspread, wardrobe and sitting chair.
Hopping down from the last porch and crossing to the other side of the house Arthur found that it seemed to have a similar lay out so he climbed up to a porch and looked inside.
He hit the jackpot. Amidst the mess of American football, lacrosse, and baseball memorabilia lay the sleeping form that twice Arthur had seen before. Arthur settled into looking at him. An image of The mauve queens husband appeared next to Arthur with out the vampire noticing.
Seeing that Arthur did not know so his presence Roderich cleared his throat alerting the vampire king "Hello there lord Kirkland. I see you found him." Roderich said upon seeing the young man on the bed.
"Hello lord Edelstein. What brings you here?" Arthur asked concerned for Alfred's well being.
"Elizaveta was wondering where you went. She was concerned for you. Did you really bring Ivan with you?" he said none too quietly.
"Hush you shout too much. Now why did Elizaveta really send you? I know she does not care that much" Arthur looked over at Alfred and saw he continued sleeping peacefully.
"Elizaveta wanted you to know she is requirement of more virgins. Obviously you can't do anything about that in America. Also she wanted to know if you found him. Ah and you should know there are others after him. Ivan Braginsky told the others of you tantalizing mate, and the fact that he is indeed human. I would turn him right now. After all. What would you do if some other creature changed him into a wolf or succubus? It's a sure way to start a war lord Kirkland and all Elizaveta wants is to keep her seelie court safe" Roderich explained. "I don't want to but we may have to order you to change him. Which is Elizavetas orders. I am just the messenger"
"Of course, I understand. I will figure this out soon" Arthur told him.
"See you later Lord Kirkland" Roderich said as he faded out of existence.
Arthur looked back into the room at the man. The mans glasses lay askew on his face and had a sweaty sheen covering his body. Arthur opened the door to the room to get a better look. The door made a loud creaking sound as it opened awakening the young man.
