Hello my dear readers, I'm sorry it's been so long but I haven't really had time to update with all the stuff that's been going on. If it makes you feel better, this isn't the only story I've been neglecting, but that just makes me feel worse. Anyway, I'll stop talking and give you the long awaited chapter. Hope you enjoy!
A New Beginning
Chapter 3
It's been a few days since Raven and Terra's discussion at the mall. Raven didn't really know why she was worried; it was obvious the team trusted her way more than they trusted Terra. It was also clear that Beast Boy felt incredibly awkward whenever Terra would throw herself on him. He always ran to Raven for protection, but she wasn't complaining in the least.
Right now the entire team was on the couch just hanging out. Robin and Starfire were cuddling; Cyborg was playing a video game with Beast Boy, like always. Raven was silently reading a book next to Beast Boy but was paying attention to her surroundings and Terra was on the other side of her, listening to her music while cheering Beast Boy on.
'She's trying way too hard." Raven thought to herself, smirking slightly. Beast Boy noticed this and sent her a question look, which she just blushed to and shook her head. Terra saw the exchange and fumed silently.
'Ugh, no matter what I do he only has eyes for Raven, it's not fair! Why, what is so special about her that I'm not ten times better?!' Terra screamed in her head. She would have to talk to Raven again, maybe use some force to get her message through. She was about to ask Raven if she could talk to her alone for a minute but never got the chance when the signal started blaring, alerting the team a crime was happening in town.
Robin ran over to the computer and checked what was wrong. "Billy Numerous is causing trouble at the bank, electronics store, and mall. We'll split up to take care of him faster. Starfire and I will handle the bank, Cyborg and Terra you handle the store, Raven and Beast Boy go to the mall. Are we clear?" Robin ordered.
Terra glared at Raven who sent back a smug smirk. Everyone nodded at their orders. "Good, Titans go!" Robin called as they ran out of the tower and to the city.
"Why did she have to go with Beast Boy? Why couldn't I have gone with him instead?" Terra pouted as she and Cyborg drove in the T-car to their destination.
"What's wrong, don't like fighting crime with me?" Cyborg asked as he faked being offended.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that I don't like how close those two are. Like seriously they act like they're dating!" Terra shouted.
'Girl, you have no idea.' Cyborg thought with a shake of his head. He came to a sudden stop when they reached the store, making Terra lurch forward, seeing ten of Billy walking out with a bunch of things. Cyborg jumped out of the car and got his sonic canon ready. "Alright Billy, drop what you have and let's not make this hard!" Cyborg yelled, making every Billy chuckle.
"Of course it won't be hard 'cause we're gonna kick yer butts!" One of them yelled and they all laughed again until Terra smashed a large boulder on most of them. Cyborg and the remaining Billy's looked at her surprised.
"Sorry but his voice just annoyed the hell out of me." Terra said and Cyborg laughed loudly.
"Hey, who do you think you are missy?!" Billy shouted and with that the fight began.
Raven and Beast Boy were having a much easier time at the mall. Considering once Billy Numerous and his clones saw them, they all ran out of the mall, dropping all the things they stole. Raven was about to go after them but then Beast Boy grabbed her wrist making her stop. "Shouldn't we go after them?" She asked looking at him.
"Nah, they gave up since they knew they wouldn't have a chance. Besides, they left all the stuff they wanted behind, so what's the harm?" Beast Boy said and Raven thought about it then shrugged. "What do you say we return everything then go and grab some lunch?"
Raven blushed, thinking it sounded a lot like he was asking her on a date. Happy was dancing and jumping around inside her head while squealing like a little girl. She mentally shook her head of those thoughts and nodded while smiling at him, a pink tint still on her cheeks. "It sounds like a plan." She replied and he beamed at her. He ran off with half of the things and shouted over his shoulder that he would meet her at the food court. She laughed at his retreating figure then grabbed everything else, in a rush to go to the food court.
About twenty minutes later Beast Boy was standing at the entrance of the food court, waiting excitedly for Raven. 'Dude I can't believe she said yes! We're totally on a date! Wait no, don't think that way, she probably thinks it's just two friends having lunch together. Calm down and relax, act cool.' Beast Boy thought to himself. He saw Raven flying towards him and his thoughts flew out the window when he saw her. "Hey Rae, over here!"
Raven saw him when he called her over, but she already saw him waiting there since he was the only green person there. "Hey sorry I took a little long." She said as she landed gracefully.
"Oh it's no problem, I just got here too." He said as he mentioned to the different food stands. "So what are you getting?"
"I think a sandwich from Subway would be good, I don't really like anything else here. What about you?" She asked as she made her way over to Subway.
"A slice of pizza, nothing else here is vegetarian so that's kinda the only thing I can have." Beast Boy said as he made his way over to Pizza Hut. "I'll meet you back here in a few, okay?" He asked and she nodded then went their separate ways.
Like agreed, they met back up after they ordered and found a table easily since not many people were at the mall. Once they got themselves situated and dug in, they started talking. "So how's Terra treating you? Has she done anything else that's upset you?" Beast Boy asked, surprising her. She didn't think he would remember their conversation from the other day.
"No, how can she when she's been glued to your side?" Raven said and they both laughed at the fact.
"Yea, it's getting to be kind of annoying. If she's still like this in two months then I'm gonna have to tell Robin she can't stay." Beast Boy said as he sighed, shaking his head.
"Really I though you would have liked the attention, especially from her. You were devastated when she turned to stone." Raven said with a little jealousy coming out. Beast Boy looked at her strangely.
"Well yea but so was everyone else, well sort of. And no I don't like that kind of attention; having someone at your side twenty four seven is irritating."
"Then why don't you just tell her that?" Raven asked, both of them now done with their lunch and now just relaxing.
"I don't want to hurt her feelings, I think she might have a crush on me." Beast Boy said with a sigh.
"You think? BB she's like completely obsessed with you." Raven said with a snort.
"Yea… what can I say? I'm irresistible." Beast Boy said winking at her. Raven blushed, all of her emotions agreeing with him in her head. But she would never say that out loud. She cleared her head again and rolled her eyes.
"That's not what I would call it." Raven said and Beast Boy stared at her with his mouth wide open.
"Hey what's that supposed to mean!" He shouted as she giggled and got up.
"Figure it out yourself." She said and she stuck her tongue out at him then walked away, he followed her.
"Hey Raven wait up!" He said as he chased after her. When he caught up to her he nudged her side and then ran away. "Race you back to the tower!" He called back to her then transformed into a hawk and flew away. She shook her head and started to fly after him, laughing at his surprised bird face when she passed him.
"Ugh where are they? Seriously how long does it take to bring down a wimp like Billy Numerous?" Terra fumed as she paced back and forth around the common room. It was just her and Starfire in the room right now; Robin and Cyborg were in the weight room working out.
"I do not know Terra. They were sent to the mall; maybe they're shopping or hanging out." Starfire said as she sighed for the umpteenth time while listening to Terra rant. Starfire wasn't so sure she wanted Terra on the team either if she kept this up.
"Since when do they even get along let alone hangout?!" Terra screamed, practically spitting out fire, and startling Starfire.
Starfire calmed herself and looked at Terra sternly. "Did you really expect things to be exactly the same as when you left Terra? Things change over time; Raven and Beast Boy have grown much closer, to the point where I would consider them to be best friends." Starfire said. 'It is actually quite cute considering how Robin and I started as best friends and are now dating.' Starfire thought to herself with a smile.
"How can he possibly put up with her? She's always in a bad mood, whenever she shows emotion that is, she has trust issues, and-" Terra started but was when interrupted when Starfire shouted.
"You are not one to talk Terra! Might I remind you who it was that lied to all of us and pretended to be our friend while working for our greatest enemy? Raven has never went against the team, she is loyal and trustworthy and a good friend to us all. Those and many other reasons are why Beast Boy puts up with her." Starfire said and then stormed out of the room. She would never let anyone bad mouth her friends, especially a clorbag like Terra. She would have to have a talk with Robin and Cyborg and tell them what just happened. Her decision that they would all give at the end of the two months was very quickly turning into a no with a capital N.
Terra stood there shocked for a second, not believing Starfire just yelled at her. 'Well then, I guess I'm on my own in winning back Beast Boy's heart. I would have thought that Starfire would help me if she saw how much I like Beast Boy but she didn't let me finish!' Just then the doors opened up again and in walked Beast Boy and Raven, laughing at a joke he had told.
Terra immediately beamed at seeing him. "Hi Beast Boy, where have you been, I was getting lonely without you?" She asked coming up beside him, practically pushing Raven out of her way. Raven rolled her eyes and huffed, walking out of the room. Beast Boy watched her leave sadly, even though it was hard to do with Terra blocking his view.
"Oh uh, you know, Raven and I were out fighting Billy Numerous, then we decided to get a bite to eat sine we got hungry afterwards." Beast Boy said. Terra frowned when she heard this, not liking it one bit. Beast Boy saw this and thought of something quickly to get her mind off of it. "Well I did say we could hang out later didn't I, so do you want to go play some video games?"
Terra shook her head then looked towards the main doors Raven recently exited from. "No, I can't right now, I have to go do something, maybe later?" Terra asked but walked off before he could answer.
"Uh, sure." Beast Boy said with a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach.
Raven sighed as she tried to focus on her meditation on the roof. She shouldn't let Terra get to her, Beast Boy showed no interest whatsoever so everything was ok. She was just about to get back into concentration when the door loudly slammed open. Raven whipped her head around, afraid of it being an intruder, only to see a pissed off looking Terra. "Wow, I thought with me out of your hair you would try to get Beast boy all by yourself while you got the chance." Raven said and smirked at Terra who sneered.
"Shut up. I thought I told you to stay away from Beast Boy and you didn't. Now you're going to learn what it means when you don't listen to me." Terra said through gritted teeth. Raven rolled her eyes and turned her back to Terra.
"Please, like I would ever do as you say. Besides me and Beast Boy are friends, you can't-" Raven said but she was interrupted by a giant rock be thrown at her back, knocking her out of her sitting position and over the edge of the tower. She screamed out in fright before getting back to her senses and flying back to the top. When she got there Terra was smirking evilly, while Raven glared back. She used her dark magic to trap Terra and send her flying but before she could do that Terra jumped up highly and landed on a boulder.
Terra then summoned two more large rocks and tried to crush Raven in between them. Raven was slightly faster and flew out of the way but her cape still got caught in the end, nearly choking all the air out of her and pulling her back to the ground. Terra jumped off the boulder and walked towards Raven, then started kicking and stomping when she got there.
"What's the matter Rae, not going to fight back? I always knew I was stronger and better than you." Terra taunted as she picked Raven up by the hood and slapped her a couple of times. She threw Raven back on to the ground roughly and started kicking her again. "But you know what I find really funny, the fact that you thought Beast Boy actually cared about you. Don't you see Raven; he was only replacing me with you because you were there. He doesn't care about you, he doesn't like you, and he doesn't love you. He never has and he never will. Why would he when he has me back?" And with that Terra laughed and spit on Raven.
As Terra was walking back inside, she called over her shoulder. "Now stay away from Beast Boy, oh and don't tell the others about this, unless you want it even worse next time." She said and laughed the entire way down the stairs.
Raven sat there miserable. 'Why didn't I fight back? Why did I let her beat me? I'm better than this, better than her! That's why Beast Boy likes me… right? Of course, Terra has to be wrong just like she always is.' Raven thought to herself as she made it to her room, luckily unnoticed by the other Titans.
She laid on her bed, her body giving out as it was in excruciating pain. She thought over what Terra said and what she thought she knew. One thing she did know though, she couldn't tell the titans, not yet at least. She had to know what Terra is planning so the others will believe her and take her side. She knew that Terra could always turn around and say she didn't beat Raven up if Raven chose to say anything.
She sighed and got under the covers, crying herself to sleep that night.
