Chapter 12: Jealousy looks good on you
It was hard to be back on set after everything that had happened in the past days. And just to make it even harder for her, Killian was back being his usual self. Translation: back being his walking-sexual-innuendos sexy-self… Whoa. Where did that came from? She really needed to revise her thoughts. Especially the ones about him. And try to get as far from him as being co-stars would permit it. As it was their last day on set, Belle was there, so her will to stay away from her screen partner was nowhere to be seen. Act friendly she thought It can't be that hard, can it?
"So, Swan" a voice came behind her "Eager to film this last scene? You know, the one where you grab my jacket and kiss me like you mean it" she could hear the smirk in his voice. It was going to be that hard.
"As we share the same script, I know what I have to do. But thanks for reminding me" she said sarcastically, turning around to face him.
"Oh, come on! Don't tell me you dislike kissing me, I am an amazing kisser!" he winked.
"Watch your ego would you? It's invading my personal space" Killian was about to reply something but they got called on set before he could.
The last scenes were intense to shoot. A fight between them and the bad guys, along with her recently-found parents. Their characters were fighting back to back with bare hands. They had to film this scene almost six times until they got it right. One because one of the bad guys mixed his words, another one, because even if there was a cold between them, the fact they were filming turned them into complete different persons and Killian and Emma couldn't help but joke around. Then lunch, and then back to work. The reunion between her character Jennifer and her parents was really emotional and she didn't have to force herself to shed the tears that were supposed to stream sown her face. Only three times for this one. And the very last one. The one she was dreading.
"And… Action!" the director shouted and she was back into her character. Killian – Jonathan – was smiling at her, and she did the same (was it her or Jennifer though?).
"You did it lass" he said "Told you I had yet to see you fail" he told her, looking at her lovingly.
"We did it. I couldn't have done it without you. You saved both my life and theirs. Thank you" she answered and his cocky expression was back on his face in a matter of seconds.
"Well, perhaps gratitude is in order now" he smirked.
"Yeah, that's what the thank you was for…" she smiled back.
"Is that all your life is worth to you?" he said, touching his lips and getting closer to her.
"Please. You couldn't handle it"
"Perhaps you're the one who couldn't handle it" he replied.
There were a few minutes of silence before she grabbed the collar of his leather jacket and her mouth crashed on his. Kissing him like it was the last time, and it was. She would never admit it to herself, neither would she to him, but she loved it. Kissing him, even if it was in the movie. One of his hands came to rest at the back of her neck, fingers tangling in her hair, the other one on her hip, bringing her closer to him and her own hands went around his neck. They deepened the kiss until oxygen became needed, their forehead resting against each other's.
"That was…" he breathed.
"Me thanking you" she smiled up at him.
"Will there be more thanking in the close future?"
"I hope so" she said and he captured her lips again.
"Cut! Alright guys! That's a wrap! Thanks to all of you for making this happen!" the director shouted and people cheered. They let them go change their clothes. Just as she was leaving her cabin, she bumped into Killian.
"Sorry, I didn't see you" she apologized and tried to go away.
"Not so fast love. I was wondering if we could go for a drink to, you know… celebrate the end of the movie"
"Oh… Hmm… I'm sorry, but I already have something planned and I'm going to be late if I don't go right now" she told him and left before he could say something.
Killian stayed still, watching the door by which she left, until Graham came behind him and told him to join the rest of them for a drink. He asked him where Emma was and he answered he had to leave and that unfortunately, he had to leave too, but that Graham could stay and enjoy the festivities. His friend nodded and Killian took the same path Emma did minutes ago. Once he was outside, he took out his phone and dialled a number.
"Yes?" the voice answered.
"Hey, love. What about a drink?"
She arrived at Starbucks and saw Neal waiting for her. They briefly said hello to each other and they entered the café and sat at a table. She thought about what she could possibly tell him while he was ordering their drinks.
"Hot cocoa with cinnamon" he said coming back to her.
"I see you didn't forget" she said and he smiled "So, about Henry…"
"Yeah. Well, I'd like to spend some time with him… If that's ok with you?"
"If Henry is ok, I'm ok. Even if not hundred per cent alright with you coming back out of the blue"
They talked for about an hour and a half, discussing the conditions and the when and where he would be with Henry. They went out and walked for a bit, trying to avoid paparazzi as much as possible. An awkward silence fell between the two of them and just as Neal was about to speak again, someone called her out, making her turn around just to see Killian, along with a girl that was about her age. Seeing him close to her made Emma feel as if there was a weight in her stomach, she couldn't stand seeing them so close. She wished they were so close. Wait… Was she jealous? No way. No bloody way. Oh great, now I start to sound like him.
"So, Swan. That's why you wanted to get away so quickly earlier?" he pondered, a bit dryly "Killian Jones" he introduced himself to the other man with the same tone.
"Neal Cassidy" he shook the hand Killian was offering him. Both Emma and the girl rolled their eyes at the behaviour the men were having.
"I'm Nina, by the way" the said girl told her with a smile "I doubt they were going to introduce us"
"Emma" she answered with a small smile.
"Emma? The Emma?" she said with a small laugh "Finally I'm meeting the girl Killian just can't stop talking…"
"Tink!" Killian cut her off. "We should go and leave them both together. We've got time to catch back" he said and Emma didn't miss the glance he gave her as he put his arm around Nina's shoulders.
"Wait, are you two…?" she couldn't help but ask, feeling a bit guilty. If they were together, Emma felt awfully bad for the past masquerade.
"No!" Nina said putting her hands in front of her as Killian said "Perhaps". One of them was lying and it was certainly not Nina. She knew it.
"Oh, ok" she simply replied.
"Why, would you mind if it was so, love?" Killian smirked.
"No. She wouldn't. Come on Emma we've got to go" Neal told her, taking her by the arm.
"See you Emma!" Tink shouted, waving her hand before turning back to Killian with one hell of a grin.
"What?" he asked innocently as he started to walk again.
"And you wanted to prooooove…?" Nina inquired, still grinning, fighting back a laugh.
"Oh shut it, would you?" Killian pushed her shoulder lightly.
"Jealous, jealous, Killian is jealous" she sang and he just sighed. "Don't worry, I'd bet my favourite guitar she was too" she smiled.
On the other hand, Emma was not so happy with Neal.
"What. The. Hell?" she questioned angrily.
"We had more important things to do" he shrugged.
"Who exactly are you to judge that? I gave you the right to see my son. Not to take decisions for me."
"He's my son too Emma! And if I'm going to be a part of his life, I don't want this guy to be!"
"Excuse-me? You don't want him to be in Henry's or in mine?"
"Are you trying to tell me I'm jealous of this guy?"
"I don't know. You tell me" she said. "Don't lie to me. You know I can spot it if you do"
"Of course I am! How could I not be? I still have feelings for you Emma! Why do you think I've been looking for you!" he blurted out and for once, Emma couldn't tell if he was lying or not.
"You have no right you understand? No right to come back after eleven fucking years and tell me things like that! Now, I'm warning you, break Henry's heart just like you broke mine. Hurt him like you hurt me and believe me, you're never going to see him or me again, understood?" she was pissed off. "I have to go. Just stick to the planning. Goodbye" she spat at him and walked away at a fast pace.
"What about you Emma? Do you still love me?" he shouted from where he was.
Emma kept walking, making as though she hadn't hear it. Did she still love him? Here he was, back in her life and putting it upside down once again. The bastard.
When she got back home, she, Henry and Ruby shared a dinner before they all went to bed. Lying under the covers Emma took her phone and typed Killian's name.
Jealously looks good on you she wrote before erasing it and turning her lights out.
