Chapter 14: Movie Premiere

Nina was pacing into Killian's living room, waiting for him to come out of the bathroom he's been in for the past hour. She had forgotten how much time he could spend to get perfect for a girl. As his best friend, she knew his feelings towards Emma were other than just simple "liking her". Nina knew him by heart and his behaviour when he was in love, or falling hard for someone hadn't change even after all those years. She had met Emma too. It was obvious she also liked him a lot more than she let it show. Tink had spent a lot of time observing people's behaviour when she was studying and when she started to look for a producer. She knew what were people's best interests and she knew when they were lying or being to "cheesy" to someone just to get them to do something. So, she knew Emma had felt jealous about her and Killian. She knew just by the way she avoided looking at him that she was denying her feelings harder than she thought it possible. She was about to make a complete analysis of the two adults (acting like spoiled children) behaviour when Killian finally – finally – got out of the bathroom. He was wearing a black tuxedo and he was struggling with his tie. She would have thought he would have known how to do a bow tie by now, but hey, Killian would always be Killian.

"Need help?" she smirked at him and he shot her a dark glance.

"I'm perfectly fine" he grumbled and she couldn't help but laugh at him. "Couldn't you help me instead of being here mocking me?"

"Hey! I did just ask you if you needed some and you did just turn me down" she told him. "Stop being so stressed out or else I'll have a talk with your precious screen partner, telling her you're being an ass because of her!" she teased.

"What do you mean? This has absolutely nothing to do with Emma… I mean, Swan" he quickly redeemed himself.

"Please. You spent a whole hour in the bathroom getting ready. You look perfect and you're nervous. Don't tell me you didn't do that just to make an impression" she said rolling her eyes "Here, let me" she took his tie and it took her about ten seconds to make a bow out of it.

"Thank you" Killian said. "Well, who says I'm not trying to impress you?" he winked.

"Killian" Nina warned "You know I can tell when you're lying. I've known you for far too long ok?"

"What do you want me to say?" he sighed.

"The other night, when we met Emma and this guy. You were hell of jealous and you just wanted to get her jealous – it worked by the way, she was."

"What's your point?"

"My point is" she started "that you're in love with her but you don't have the guts to tell her. Even worse, to tell yourself" she looked at him who was staring at his feet. She had guessed right. Tink one, Killian zero. "Now, you're going to move your ass to that premiere and you're going to go to that promo tour with her. Once you'll be ready, once you'll feel she'll be ready to hear those three little words, you'll just have to say it, alright?" she smiled.

"Have I told you haw amazing you are Nina Lewis?" he hugged her.

"Yes. At least a thousand times" she chuckled, hugging him back. "Now, let's go, your limo's here and you're going to be late" Nina acknowledged and they left the apartment "Oh and, by the way, thanks for inviting me" she smiled again.

"Anytime Lady Tink" he smirked and she punched his shoulder.

Emma had been avoiding Killian for the past two weeks – since the evening they met while she was with Neal. She was planning to avoid him even longer. Forever would've been great, but today was the movie premiere and then the promo tour and then maybe – maybe – she wouldn't have to see him again. She was struggling in her dress. Mary-Margaret and Ruby had strongly insisted she would wear one. "It's a movie premiere Emma! You have to be well dressed! And no, good looking trousers will not have the same effect!" her sister had told her. So here she was, standing in front of her mirror. In her ridiculously long dress, wearing heels, make up on and her hair tied up in a "messy bun". Yeah, Emma and Ruby didn't have the same definition of the word messy. Once she looked over everything her friend and sister had made her wear – against he will – Emma's worries were coming back. She was dreading to see Killian, but worst of all, she was dreading the journalists questions. Were they going to ask them only about the movie or were they going to ask them about the why of their so-called breakup? Or maybe they were going to ask them about their love lives. She didn't know what would be the worst actually. She restrained the urge to put water on her face to clear her thoughts. She heard a knock on her door and told the person to come in.

"How are you doing?" she heard David ask.

"I'm…" she thought about which word would be the most appropriate, but opted for the easy one "fine."

"Really? Because you look like you're about to pass out"

"It's just… I'm nervous. It's the first premiere I'm ever going to. As one of the actors I mean" she added seeing the amused look on her soon-to-be-brother-in-law's face.

"And it's the only reason?" he pondered, and she just dropped her head, finding a sudden interest in her feet. "You'll have to talk to him eventually you know?" David said, easily guessing the cause of her troubles.

"Who? Neal?" she asked, innocently.

"It's not by playing dumb that things are going to get better. The more you'll deny it, the harder it'll be."

"I'm so scared. Scared of what I might and I say might feel for him. Scared of the questions. Scared to fail miserably. I'm… I…"

"Relax ok? You're going to be great. Everything is going to be ok. Just, give him a chance to be nice to you, if he wants to of course" he joked "And if he does hurt you, your brother will break his knees, ok?" he said and she let out a strangled laugh.

"You're not actually my brother, you know that?"

"I'll be soon enough. Now come on, your son is getting impatient to get in a limo" he laughed and he got down the stairs with her. She spotted her son who was wearing a suit, his hair combed. He looked stunning, a little man he was.

"You look great mom" he told her and she thanked him, returning him the compliment, taking on her not to ruffle his hair.

There were flashes coming from every corner, fans screaming at the top of her lungs, till their throats ached, journalists calling out his name, but it didn't stop him from spotting Emma getting out of the limo, a magnificent smile lighting her face. She was wearing a long red dress, the bottom of it sliding gently on the floor behind her, following her every move. A low-cut neckline, not to big, but enough to let your imagination wander, open it the back till her lower back. Her lips were painted the same colour as her dress, her eyes with only enough make up so that their green would come out, her hair tied up beautifully.

She felt eyes on her, burning her skin. When she looked up, her eyes locked up with Killian's and she couldn't look away. He was looking stunningly and handsomely attractive in his black suit. He had kept his stubble – and how much she loved it, his eyes bluer than ever, with still a hint of mischief in them. A girl got closer to him to whisper something in his ear and he just rolled his eyes. Emma recognized her in being Nina, the girl that was with him the other day. She walked towards them, posing for pictures when people asked, signing autographs on her way. When she arrived to him, journalists and photographers rushed to them and they posed, smiling.

"What is it to be here on the red carpet, for the first time?" one of them asked and Emma was the one answer as the question was obviously for her.

"Well, it is kind of amazing you know" she started trying to speak loud enough to cover the screams of the crowd. "If you had told me a year ago I'll be here to introduce mine and Killian's movie, I wouldn't have believed you"

"What about you Killian? How is to be side by side with Emma for this movie?"

"As she said, it's amazing, I mean, it's always exciting to present a movie and we had so much fun shooting it. Plus Emma is an amazing person" he smiled and Emma tried not to blush.

"Killian, we saw you came with a girl. Who is she?" the guy asked them, curious.

"She's my best friend, Nina Lewis. We've known each other for almost a life time" he said and told Nina to come with them.

"Hello miss. How is it like to be friend with someone like Killian?"

"Hello to you too" she smiled – "beautifully" Emma thought. "Well, I think his screen partner can agree that he's really childish, but he's a really nice guy"

"Is this true Emma?"

"Yes, yes it is. Especially concerning the childish part" she teased and that made them laugh, except Killian who pouted adorably.

They then went separates ways talking to journalists about the movie and all. When they were in the room, waiting for the movie to start, Emma was sitting between Nina and Henry. Her son was actively talking to the Irish guy (Killian of course) sitting next to him and Emma talked to Nina. She was a very nice girl and Emma learned she was recording her album, but as she wasn't really known at the moment, it was a bit hard and that she refused any help from Killian which Emma find really honourable. She wanted to do this alone and that was brave of her. She mentioned the fact she had heard Killian calling her "Tink" and she chuckled when Emma asked. Nina explained her it was because of her costumes on Carnival and Halloween. Emma couldn't help but laugh at Killian lack of imagination.

Two hours later, the movie was over. It had been a total success for now. Henry kept telling her how he had loved it, so did her sister and David, and Ruby and Jefferson who had come as he was both costume designer and her best friend's boyfriend. She said bye to Nina and they exchanged their numbers before going back to her house to get change and then driving to the airport.

After saying goodbye to her son, telling him she'll be back soon and that they could still see each other via Skype, Emma and Killian got in the plane. They sat silently while the plane started its ascension above London. The flight wasn't long but, Emma felt like she could use some sleep and Killian noticed it.

"Tired love?"

"Like hell" she sighed, putting one earphone in her right ear, letting the voice of Ed Sheeran soothing her.

"What are you listening to?" Killian wondered.

"Be like you, Ed Sheeran" she said and Killian asked if he could listen with her "Yeah, of course" she smiled slightly.

"You know, you can use my shoulder as pillow" he said and she was about to put her walls back up when David's words echoed in her head "The more you'll deny it, the harder it'll be." "Just, give him a chance to be nice to you"

"Thanks" she said just as the song switched to Slumville Sunrise by Jake Bugg.

"I know this one!" she vaguely heard Killian said as she fell asleep on his shoulder.

Killian looked at her, so peaceful in her sleep – wondering how she could sleep with the guitar solos. He hesitated to wake her up when the plane started to get down, but preferred to wait until it was totally still.

"Emma" he pushed her lightly and she opened her eyes, looking sleepily at him. "Bienvenue à Paris"

Author's note: Heyyyyy! So the last words are "Welcome to Paris". I put them in French, because I think it would be damn sexy to hear him speak French ;P I hope you liked the chapter! Please leave a review and don't forget to suggest your idea for a ship name for Jefferson and Ruby :D Love you xx
